I'd disagree. I'm a deep fan who enjoyed the first title. There was alot of promise to fight the empire. Instead, the setting takes place after Cal is wethered from his fight. We don't get that connection, from where we left the character to where he is. Just like how we don't have connections, he loses his entire team in our first experience. As far as story goes that's lame. But to each their own
It still has quite a few technical problems. Still no where near finished with fixing bugs, and needs more important features from fallen order like auto deflection when attacking and a blaster bolt hits your lightsaber. Would’ve made the double bladed stance actually usable in hoard fights
An amazing sequel ,faithful to the action adventure formula with great platforming and puzzle solving. Excellent combat mechanics , great character development and overall design , touching story and a lightsaber fan's wet dream. Also no microtransanctions or DLC. A complete product. 9/10
And also for something to fail it has to sell TERRIBLY. This game didn’t sell well at launch but it is fixed now and is selling perfectly fine. Everybody loves it. You’re the odd one out here.
I just recently played this on the PS5 and it was amazing. The updates fixes all that I heard was wrong on it and performance mode was on fire. Loved this game.
It kinda felt like the devs were deciding between "Jedi: Pathfinder", where you search for ancient planet, and "Jedi: Survivor" where you desperately fight the Empire. Then they choose try to both at the same time, with mixed results.
Everything you said that points to the game failing is subjective, the parts you don't like about the story myself and plenty of others do like it, so how did the game fail if every argument you made was opinion not fact, you should change the title to why I personally don't like JS.
We all know how it failed. After the hype died down, we realized how poorly made the game was. It’s still missing core features from fallen order even! do you remember back in fallen order when your double bladed lightsaber attacks weren’t so easily cancelled by 50 enemies attacking at once? That’s because of how the enemies worked and how literally any lightsaber attack could deflect blaster bolts. And it was specific special enemies that let other lower level enemies all attack at the same time. Like with the stormtrooper commander in fallen order. It could command as many stormtroopers as he wanted to shoot all at the same time. I think it’s the same with the scout commander or whatever it’s called, I forget. There’s also the fact that you could use slow at any time you wanted because it was cal’s signature move. Now it’s a special so you can’t use it when you want to, and when you don’t need it you have it. Also the movement is much worse, along with the combat. In fallen order it is very consistent. Specifically the PS4 version. we don’t talk about the PS5 version. When you throw your lightsaber in fallen order, you know it will target the enemy you’re locked on to, and it will hit no matter what unless the boss blocks, parries or dodges but it pretty consistently hit on the way back too if you’re close enough. But the lightsaber throw with all the new forms in survivor are so inconsistent and untrustworthy that I never use them and when I do use them I always notice that annoying glitch where when the lightsaber leaves cal’s hand it just glitches inside of him for a second. It’s it’s in every version of the throw, including charged versions. And it’s been in the game since after launch. AFTER. They added the glitch, and it hasn’t been fixed at all. It used to actually freeze right in front of cal when the lightsaber was returning and you’d be stuck there and at the mercy of any enemy you’re fighting with how long it took to recover from a throw. Also sometimes in survivor while running on a wall cal will just fall off of it for no reason but when you tried running on a different wall you could run on it for the normal amount of time. Fallen order never had that! Another huge issue is that when you hold a rocket, it falls even when you’re holding it and that wasn’t in fallen order. Most of the time I can’t even throw the rocket because of a glitch so I get exploded no matter what. But the absolutely 100% worst thing about the game is that they didn’t bring back the dodge kick from the first game. They need to add it back as free DLC or something because just doing a normal lightsaber attack after perfect dodging (which is also very inconsistent in survivor when compared to fallen order, especially because of the auto dodge that takes force from you) is so, so boring. The main reason I go back to play fallen order besides the arena mode that survivor STILL doesn’t have for some reason is for the dodge kick. Perfect dodge, dodge kick into lightsaber hit was actually how I beat the game multiple times over. I almost never parried until I found out the perfect dodge timing in survivor was abysmal. The party timing on grand master is even harder than fallen order too. It’s literally too precise for me to get consistent parries and I’ve been playing video games since I was 2 and been playing rhythm games since I was maybe 3 to 6. The game needed at least another few months, possibly up to even a year to finish development properly TLDR; forgot EXTREMELY important mechanics from fallen order and not enough time to finish development To be honest I don’t agree with a lot of the points that you explain. For example, the story was great and the gameplay should’ve been closer to the first game.
Too many obstacle courses. It was more like a Crash Bandicoot game. It’s not as good as the last one. It does mean Cal and his girlfriend survive unless there’s another game coming where they come back to there galaxy. Maybe they’ll run into Ashoka and Sebien Ren.
Game was looking phenomenal, i pre ordered the £90 edition, but for a while the fps would tank so badly and there was so msny crashes, though its fixed now, it just left a sour taste in my mouth

It didnt fail, it did better then fallen order on release. I had more fun on survivor. You stand alone if you think the game failed.
