    Playing through this again.
The writing honestly feels like it stems from the diary of a pubescent girl. It’s filled with teenage tier drama and romance. Jesse and Dina, Ellie’s heart throbs…..it’s excruciatingly juvenile. Especially the part where Ellie’s immunity is revealed to Dina. It is immediately cast aside for Dina’s _”I think I’m pregnant!”_ line, which then becomes the main focus of contention, instead of Ellie’s immunity which is quickly forgotten.
Druckman is really only one letter off and away from spelling out what he really is.

True. I found myself routing for team Ellie the ENTIRE time because I’ve honestly spent more time with them and gotten to know them in the previous game. I honestly didn’t care about Abby or her friends at all and it pissed me off that Ellie let her go at the end. The game wanted you to feel more sympathy towards Abby but the whole retime I was just thinking “I don’t care, she took Joel away”

most of the controversy is just ridiculous, TLOU2 is a master piece and it’s full of things you would never have expected which is what makes it as powerful as it is

I enjoy the second game but not as much as the first. And it wasn’t a failure at all it made a ton of money. There are just many people that don’t like it

Id argue that Joel did take on the fatherly role for Ellie tho. I think the point of showing those flashbacks was to illustrate the continuation of their relationship. The first game was centered around building their bond, to the point where Joel eventually viewed Ellie as a 2nd daughter of sorts. Hence he did what he did.

“Such a failure” with 440 million in sales??? I like your point about switching Ellie with playing as Abbie first, but come on.

Well, although it sold. It comes with a huge price, tricking your audience into something is not a thing people will let it slide easily. People are aware of what happened to TLOU2 and any complaints are justifiable to any extent. No point arguing otherwise, and that might affect Naughty Dog's view by their audience, being less tempting to buy their next product. For that matter, it would flop afterwards which it is what about to happen to their next game.
Cod is be milking their franchise, at one point they became so famous that they sell without effort. But still people can affect Activision in many ways, not only not buying it but also stop playing it them and that hit them so hard.
So yeah, it is a massive failure.
