An elusive lesson to learn...it's so tempting to try to fight through bad riding and underconfidence. That's how I separated my shoulder, and I'm so glad it wasn't worse! This should be day 1 material.
Riding with some old mates in bike park wales. Hitting a new line but riding at full speed without a pre ride or re ride.... silly mistake meant I crashed hard on a basic corner. I lost a level of consciousness and bruised ribs so a day in bed today... A really important video it’s all about the practice runs and warming up. Preach it Seth.
Great commentary. I learned that lesson about not trying to pick up with the difficulty level you left the year before the hard way. Broken collaebone one time, broken ankle another time.
Seriously, it's videos about riding bikes, hardly earth-shattering (or even important in any way) stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like them and watch them, but really could not care less about if and when they come out. Nothing here is worth getting hurt over.
Not riding well can have bad consequences if you have ever broken bones or torn ligaments you would know it's not very fun lying around healing up for weeks on end , switch off for a moment and you could pay a heavy price so know your limits and bale and go home fight another day
It’s interesting how psychological riding can be…case a jump and it freaks you out for the next several attempts… Then you clear it… And then you smash it like it’s not even there! Great riding, fellas! Keep it up and stay safe!
Good on you for having the maturity to realize your limits- and the skill to push them. Glad you are mostly ok. I don't think I will ever ride anything like this- I'm too old!
When you say “last run” it always seems to end up in injury, it’s happened to me, on bmx, and my friend countless times on downhill. I’m not a very superstitious guy, but it usually seems to end bad. So me and my friends just say bonus run
It's all you said plus confidence dude. Morale is everything when you go for a jump. Morale is not that high when you crashed like hell the previous day:). Good luck and stay safe, awesome video.
Great video; knowing when to re-evaluate or slow down is definitely an asset. Different sport, but I've been Skiing 25 years, never gotten hurt. However, I didn't pay attention/overconfidence on a tiny little jump, just once, and wham, torn ACL/Meniscus and broken tibial plateau. Hit 'em when you're ready and confident, because recovery can take forever and you'll never be the same after.
"Skill is for rent" -- this line struck me hard. It's so very true. Thanks for this video. I had this level of difficulty with the lower half of A-Line when I was out at Whistler. It's a comfort to see a rider of your skill working through dead sailor jumps and nosedives too.
Amazing video! As I start to progress in my bike park experience, I love watching your videos and knowing that I am not alone with some of my failures leading to crashes. Even as an old guy, I am still learning when it is time to call it quits and when it is time to get back on the horse.
Seth, I think you could make a really cool series if you take a short trip to Northern California. You could fly into Reno and go to Northstar in Tahoe which is a great lift access downhill park. However, I think your viewers would really enjoy if you went from Tahoe to Marin county (About a 3 hour drive) to visit the birthplace of mountain biking. You can ride some of the trails that started the sport, and talk to some of the pioneers of mountain biking. Your fan, Will S
It is a true hero move to say i need to quit today because i am not feeling it. I struggle to do so and it brought me into many injuries and trouble. This skill has massive importance on the MTB. Most times we want to be a hero and then look even worse when crash
Glad you didn't break any bones. I see all these videos of guys hitting sick features. What I don't see is all the hours spent getting to that point. Good to see this side of it. Thanks.

We just went to Valmont today and those are the biggest jumps I’ve done, Valmont is such a cool place👍🏼 amazing video btw!

Even though I have never been to Whistler I still think Dirt Merchant is my favorite trail
I just got into MB and i gotta say your a huge reason! I love your honesty with yourself and the content!
Great commentary. I learned that lesson about not trying to pick up with the difficulty level you left the year before the hard way. Broken collaebone one time, broken ankle another time.
I love these you have inspired me to get into mountain biking
Wow I just came back from your Instagram story of you talking about uploading and boom, the notification pops up
Jimmynius same 😂
Thx Seth I love your channel you inspired me to mountain bike and your very funny.
Keep Shredding Seth
Im a 52 year old who barely getting into MT and cannot wait to learn to do big jumps! Keep the videos coming
I had such a bad day at biking that i needed to rewatch this ! Thank you again for sharibg your life it surely helps
Hey Seth if u ever injure ur self don’t feel the need to keep on going and get a vid up let ur body heel up and feel better great vid btw
Seriously, it's videos about riding bikes, hardly earth-shattering (or even important in any way) stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like them and watch them, but really could not care less about if and when they come out. Nothing here is worth getting hurt over.
so basically when your not riding well have a good lunch and a couple beers then go send it.
Skill is only for rent, courage comes in cans.
Not riding well can have bad consequences if you have ever broken bones or torn ligaments you would know it's not very fun lying around healing up for weeks on end , switch off for a moment and you could pay a heavy price so know your limits and bale and go home fight another day
A lot of beers
Yup, does it for me everytime
The fact that you can be at the trail, someone can call you, and you can say "I'm riding Dwayne Johnson" is amazing to me
It’s interesting how psychological riding can be…case a jump and it freaks you out for the next several attempts… Then you clear it… And then you smash it like it’s not even there! Great riding, fellas! Keep it up and stay safe!
Good on you for having the maturity to realize your limits- and the skill to push them. Glad you are mostly ok. I don't think I will ever ride anything like this- I'm too old!
You were probably dealing with a mild TBI after that crash, hence the cloudyness on day 2.
Wow your jump progression is amazing good job 👍🏻
When you say “last run” it always seems to end up in injury, it’s happened to me, on bmx, and my friend countless times on downhill. I’m not a very superstitious guy, but it usually seems to end bad. So me and my friends just say bonus run
Lol
It's all you said plus confidence dude. Morale is everything when you go for a jump. Morale is not that high when you crashed like hell the previous day:). Good luck and stay safe, awesome video.
the kids riding any crazy trail on a hard tail is a testament to that it's really 90% the rider.
I was just watching some of your old videos when I got the notification!!!
I have the same exact feeling right now, I crashed twice really hard at my dirt jumps and I just can't ride then like I used to a few weeks ago.
Hubert M same thing has happened to me for various sports. Realize it’s all mental and with time your confidence will come back.
You should do a video about how any bike can be riden on any trail
what
Wtf
Your English is... uhhh how could I say this... like from a second grader?

Came for the crashes, stayed for the beautifully woven narrative and life lessons. Keep doing what you're doing Seth 👍🏻
I love that you are so honest about getting the fotage compared to other youtubers👍👍

massive RIP for that ankle
I think we all learned a very valuable lesson: never ever EVER take one more lap
props to the guy on the hardtail both of them
Great video; knowing when to re-evaluate or slow down is definitely an asset.

Assuming you had a couple of beers during that lunch between calling it quits and going back out 😉
levanich beers Would be bad since he’s riding a bike -_-
@@BooneTheKing helps with the fear which makes you a better rider if u have the skillset but can get u in some bad accidents if u dont have it
Amazing video! As I start to progress in my bike park experience, I love watching your videos and knowing that I am not alone with some of my failures leading to crashes. Even as an old guy, I am still learning when it is time to call it quits and when it is time to get back on the horse.
This video shows how much Seth has improved mentally and physically. Great to see Seth improve along with the rest of us!
Your fan,

@@ShredTamVisuals tamarancho is still pretty good
I love your videos you inspired me to go and ride trails ty
"One last lap"
Or how I ended in a helicopter with a broken collarbone.
The silver lining is that you got to ride in a helicopter on someone else's dime (insurance, I hope?).
Funny, the comment right underneath you said the same damn thing. I know about 3 peeps with titanium collarbones now from riding as well 🤷
It is a true hero move to say i need to quit today because i am not feeling it.
Thanks.
