I have a build a top end slopeduro bike and it was the best decision I have ever made. I am a teenager and am always tight on money. People said it was a bad idea but as of now it's the best decision I have ever made
Hey Seth here’s a tip.if you want to powder coat, you can make a booth out of a old dryer. Cut the front of it out. Add a fan and buy a powder coating gun and some different colour powder. and you can coat bike parts so they won’t chip like normal paint does.
Slopeduro bikes have got many extremes: Matt Jones has his at 120mm travel on 27.5" , whilst Brandon Semenuk has his on a 27.5 / 26 mullet with 190mm travel. And I have seen others running 29". I think yours though Seth is in the middle and is probably about right!
Going by some bike-checks on UA-cam I've noticed a lot of the RB Rampage riders are running 26/27,5 mullet with Fox 40s (or similar) up front! I'm fairly sure that's not recommended by the manufacturers but maybe they've supplied their sponsored riders with a custom frame/swing-arm to make it work?
@@beggarwoodbikepark3974 I'm sure you're correct but what's the difference then? Or, what's the closest your average rider can buy/convert to get something like a a pro rampage bike?
I built my 2018 giant reign 2 into a slopeduro. Single speed, 36x16 single speed. Fixed low seat post, coil rear shock. Went from 2.4 tires to 2.1. Badass jumper. If you are a jumper like me, everyone needs one of these in their stable.
One recommendation would be to put offset cups in the head tube to stepen it up and make it more responsive like I SS or DJ bike and maby brop the travle in the fork by 10mm to keep the BB hight the same or atleast close.
I actually did something like this recently; took an old 26" giant reign and made it singlespeed full sus pumtrack/street bike. This thing is sick! So much fun. Cheers Seth 🤙🏻
I'd love to see you change the brake to a hybrid cable actuated hydraulic brake, and add a gyro. Or run one of those hydraulic gyros. They were cool mechanisms that never seemed to get much acknowledgement outside of midschool BMX.
Had this thought too - even running a cable actuated disc all the way without the hydraulic calliper would be fine considering the need for rear brakes.
Love it! I'm in the process of repurposing my very first MTB, and old 100mm XC 26in bike into a 26" BMX cruiser. Same as you I'm doing it because you can't have too many bikes, and I have Enduro, hardtail, fixie, 20" BMX, old postman bike and this one will be, I hope my do it all bike but mostly for my to go to the park with my son, get groceries etc. Simple, cool and reliable 😎
I absolutely love slopestyle bikes. They're so fun for jumping. Dirt jumpers do the job as well but having gears (if you don't want the single speed) and the rear suspension is nice.
I would like to see Seth make a ski bike I’ve been seeing them on the slopes lately and it’s making me really want to build one. I think Seth would have some good ideas on how to build one.
great video seth I swear you can always make a used bike look new,it doesn't matter if it a flip bike or one of your old bike the builds are always mint.
I love how Seth runs a Bomber z2 to show that you can still do just about everything on a budget fork instead of buying something like a fox 36 factory
Kevin’s slope style bike really is like a modified, small, trail bike, it has two disk brakes, gears (though not many), a dropper, and suspension. Greta video Seth!
I’ve watched your chanel for years and i’ve never seen you mention an oval chain ring! You just glossed over it but that seems so cool and ingenious to me.
nice build! i did the same with my saanta cruz bronson last month, 1x drivetrain by reverse components, removed fox transfer dropper, pumped up those fox suspensions and now it flies on the dirt jumps that local hits with the djs... most fun bike ever had
I always underestimated the value and pure satisfaction achieved from, well... just staring at the completed bike. Just did that on a bike build - couldn't take my eyes off of it. I'm setting aside some staring time from now on.
Mine is an End-style bike. DMR Bolt slopestyle frame with 150mm Fox forks, a Rockshox RT3 rear shock, NX Eagle groupset, MT Trail Sport brakes and a crap tonne of Hope aftermarket parts. Flicks like a slopestyle bike but does the distance, flies up hills and blasts down them like an Enduro. Started with an overgrown full-squish BMX and now I have a king-killer genre defining All-Mountain beast.
The red looks great. Love color matching hoses and housing. Got all orange on my rigid 29+ bike, trying to decide what color to accent my trail bike with.
Santa Cruz 5010 straight outta the box is kinda a slopeduro bike if you stiffen it up. 130 rear, 140 pike, DHRIIs f&r, etc.- beefy components on smaller bikes
I have over 200 UA-cam subscriptions... I have two that I get notifications for... Seth is one, and this is why... Now I just gotta wait for the next Flip Bike episode.
A few tips... to make it feel more like a slopeduro, maybe ditch the coil shock. It adds weight and has no benefits for the intended purpose. It would also be sick to make it a mullet, you could stick the flip chip in high. Faster rolling and lighter casing tires are always great...lastly skinnier bars...cheers
Love your channel Seth. I love Mountain biking and was into RC before you found the hobby so I enjoy both hobbies very much. I have a 1/10 scale ECX Torment that Ive spent years upgrading and a ACX 24 with upgrades. I rock a Berm Peak shirt and sticker. Keep up the great videos. Your channel along with others is what I watch. (No TV)
So freaking cool i love how seth makes use of every bike and about the rear break hose you can use the dropper post hole and drill a hole from rear of bike near the caliber it ll be much cleaner
its such a dumb idea to drill a hole into a carbon frame. also you would have to drill multiple holes in the front and rear triangle to make this work. the frame is probably trash by then. and in my opinion it looks pretty good with the external rear brake hose and its much easier to service
Haven't tried it personally, but I think you could've used as the chain tensioner an (old) rear mech and just tighten the limit and B-tention screws. That would look great on such kind of bike.
I've got a carrera vengeance fram which I converted to single speed with a 30t front chainring and a 16t rear sprocket pedals great runs smooth and is and easy bike to manage.
Those kind of chain tensioner are designed for quick release wheels. You basically place it in before the nut and let the QR axle hold it in place. I have one myself, though I swapped it out to a chain tensioner that goes in the derailleur hanger.
How does Seth not have a million followers yet here he’s a great UA-camr self made videographer live talks on vids and voice edits well stays on topic with each video entertains us even if we don’t ride bikes always stays up to date on parts and everything I been following you Seth since the day you decided to build berm creek lol nothing but flawless progression over the last few years
I've turned my old canyon torque into a slopeduro bike. 180 travel front and rear, 26", single speed. The only downside was the relays tall standover height, otherwise, was pretty fun to ride dirt jumps on
Great build love the way it looks. Repurposing and old bike for something different great idea. Just one thing driving me nuts is all that extra break hose
I made it the other war 'round: In a time single drivetrains were rare, because of wanting such one I took a Slopestyler (Mongosse Nugget), changed a few parts (all the cranks from 9x / 32 : 12-29 to finally 10x / 42 - 12:36, the brakes, the tires, the handlebar, the seatpost) so it became a fully trail / tour bike to me 🙂
Kind of funny, these are the kind of bikes we tried to build like 20 years ago from off-the shelf size-small frames and DH parts- like the final evolution of the aggressive "trail" bike.
good build even though not many changes were made but what there was....was effective...nice. ......I did like the way you got round the rear gear with the spacers, nice & simple
Hi Seth! I've been watching you since Seth's Bike Hacks! I must say I am always entertained and enjoy your ORIGINAL contents! All of us OGs appreciate it! Stay safe and God bless! P.S. Always a hassle when the master link goes missing HAHAH
I’ve been doing this for a few years now in the summer when I want an excuse to walk up climbs. The best thing I’ve used as a chain tensioner was a shimano Zee short cage mech. Wind both limit screws in and the B tension out
Funny how many bike categories there can be with just a little imagination, some spare parts, and money and time/tools. When I worked at a shop in mid to late 90s we were always playing around, but at that time there were probably only a few categories, DH, Duel Slalom, full suspension XC, hard tail XC, rigid XC, single speed. Then you get some jump bikes and then blends into the BMX scene
Nice build! I'd have added ramp up tokens in the fork so you don't have to run a million PSI, also a slightly faster rolling rear tyre would make your life easier on jumps, as well has harder than "normal" tyre pressures...
I’ve built my fair share of slopeduros from 26” 160 front 120 rear to 27.5 170 front and rear there a lot better if you put a thick boi DJ/Bmx seat with a pivotal and some tall tall rise bars I usually go for a cheap sram dh group set and mount the shifter to the down tube on the bottle cage mount just in case you might need to pedal somewhere but go for a cheap one cuz your gonna be doing tricks and smashing that thing like nothing else happy shredding my dude sick build

Ye Seth said that

Three gears for a singlespeed. Sit. Stand. Walk.

Coulda gone with red grips and red seat for a truly matching theme
Color matching, you say?
Hey Seth here’s a tip.if you want to powder coat, you can make a booth out of a old dryer. Cut the front of it out. Add a fan and buy a powder coating gun and some different colour powder. and you can coat bike parts so they won’t chip like normal paint does.

Idk why but running a 29er on a slopeduro is not as bad ascit seems
Mush the bikes at rampage aren’t slopeduro bikes
@@beggarwoodbikepark3974 I'm sure you're correct but what's the difference then? Or, what's the closest your average rider can buy/convert to get something like a a pro rampage bike?
I really dig the red brake hose, makes it look very interesting.
wasn’t too keen at first but by the end i was all in on it👌
The Shimano alfine CT-S5000 is a realy good chain tensioner and I can highly recommend it, I use it on my slopestyle bike
I built my 2018 giant reign 2 into a slopeduro. Single speed, 36x16 single speed. Fixed low seat post, coil rear shock. Went from 2.4 tires to 2.1. Badass jumper. If you are a jumper like me, everyone needs one of these in their stable.

smart
That’s geeking out for sure! On “real”dirt jumps that would have a real positive effect
I actually did something like this recently; took an old 26" giant reign and made it singlespeed full sus pumtrack/street bike.
This thing is sick! So much fun.

This is my plan for my Transition Scout when I upgrade later down the line. It's a 125mm rear travel frame so would do the job so well.
I'd love to see you change the brake to a hybrid cable actuated hydraulic brake, and add a gyro. Or run one of those hydraulic gyros. They were cool mechanisms that never seemed to get much acknowledgement outside of midschool BMX.
Bluetooth brakes coming soon = no cables
@@mudkayak6305 hopefully not made by sram then 😂😂😂
Yeah, its slope style, brakes are just here to stop at the bottom, a BB5 on the rear would be more than sufficient.

One addition that I think really completes a slope-duro is dj saddle. One of those things that’s not totally necessary but sure is nice.
I absolutely love slopestyle bikes. They're so fun for jumping. Dirt jumpers do the job as well but having gears (if you don't want the single speed) and the rear suspension is nice.
