Locked in on an Avata 2 I already have a mini cinewhoop running o3 and dji fpv excited to see the o4 system in action these avatas look like a blast to fly price difference wasn’t enough to justify getting 1 considering the 2 will retain value longer
The avata 1 is like 100 times more durable than the avata 2, and that makes it the better choice lol. But the avata 2 has a better transmission system and camera.
Until you fly them both side by side. Yes, the AV1 can take a slightly better hit, but the av2 out Flys the av1 in every way. I still love my av1, but it's gonna go I think so it's not just sitting. I'd rather someone enjoy it as it's still a great craft.
Man! Thank you Monododrum1!!!! Wow I didnt expect that. That really made my day. Havent seen a single tip for all my work in a long time. I appreciate that my friend. 🔥 I wish you the best fpv flying conditions!
Hey Justin, hope you are doing good bud. You've been a huge help to the FPV community and you make really informative videos that go above and beyond. Keep your chin up man.
Great video. I have both as well and agree with your assessment, other than the motion controllers. I've been a stick flyer for 40+ years and actually love the motion controllers. With that said, if you want to do acro we'll then of course sticks. But I'm able to thread a needle with the motion controllers on the AV1 and AV2 at full sport speeds. I love my av1, but gotta say, the av2 is an all around better UAV. I have to wonder what DJI is, or is not planning on a fpv2.
Hey there Justin! Longer sticks available on Amazon combined with softer rates will stop the tumbles. Stock sticks on the FPV Controller 2 are a joke, IMHO. They lengthened the sticks on the FPV Controller 3 by 4 or 5 mm, but they are still not long enough for proper control. But then, the Avata 2 is wider than the Avata 1 so it's more stable on the stock sticks. But the first thing all Avata flyers should do is change those damn gimbal sticks and get longer ones! My first gen Avata doesn't tumble ever, whtn I fly it on longer sticks and with softer control rates. And I fly it hard and fast in acro, doing split S, power loops, flips, and etc. I have been flying FPV for 10 years. I am disappointed by the build construction of the new Avata 2 in comparison to the tank-like first gen Avata. In a durability test, the Avata will outlast the Avata 2 by a huge margin. If you crash the first gen Avata, you can just replace the prop guards or the top cage for cheap (as you already know). Crash the Avata 2 and you're screwed. It's so much more fragile, to keep the weight down. Gotta send it back to DJI for repair which costs big $$ (as you already know). DJI moved away from the modular design of the first Avata and that's a move in the wrong direction for FPV enthusiasts, IMHO. The improved camera is the main selling point for sure. Cheers!
For sure. I could tell right away it was more similar to the way the DJI mini three and four is constructed with that eggshell thin plastic. This does reduce the weight significantly and improve power to weight ratio for better performance. But it decreases the durability factor and people should be able to have the right to repair.
@@dronecamps Exactly! I think that DJI realized the first Avata was too durable, lol! And too easy to repair by FPV pilots. That's not good for their repair business profits. The Avata 2 definitely follows the rest of their camera drones ''DJI Care dependency'' for repair. What can you do eh? As smart and practical FPV enthusiasts, it's a wakeup call for us remember to keep buying quads that are built in a modular way, allowing for easy repair and etc. DJI quads have their advantages but they're not a one-stop solution to everything. I love my first gen Avata, but I'm 100% still invested and interested in other DJI O3 equipped quads from GEPRC, Avionrc, Flywoo, Iflight, etc.
Just picked up an Avata 2 .. the controller 3 is not in stock anywhere here in the uk .. may hold out a bit to see if they make the controller 2 compatible
I’m gonna hold out too I don’t want another controller sitting around and also having to spend $200 on it. They should release a firmware update to make it compatible with the Avata 2
The FPV controller and Motion controller connect to the goggles. The goggles transmit the controller inputs to the drone.. As it’s a new Goggle system, they have had to make motion 3 and FPV 3. The FPV controller 2 can work via the goggles 2 or Integra via firmware. My guess is that it will happen in a couple of months.
Hay Justin How about make a video to target. Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You UA-camrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. This seems so logical why hasn't DJI done this? It's all O4 so it should just be a software update.
Thanks for the comparison video. Is there a way to get a bigger fov in the goggles? I don't unstated why when the video quality is so good they don't make a bigger google fov to make it more immersive.
I'm in an avata Facebook group. So many people buying the avata 1 or 2 and instantly going full manual. And breaking their drone. I just tell them to buy a tinyhawk freestyle 3 plus hd RTF kit. Learn acro and then decide if you want to acro the 1k dollars plastic whoop lol.
I like the motion controller 2 a lot. I have the raidomster t16s mk2. I have the geprc tiny radio elrs, and the dji rc 2. I bought thr avata for cruising around for more than 4 minutes lol. I might fly it in manual when I want to do a dive. The motion controller is restrictive though. But I hate the fact that with the rc2 in normal mode when I'm pitched forward and try to yaw it adds roll, and that's annoying af lol.

It's a tough call. For me the major hangup is the compatibility with the goggles and controller with the Mavic 3.
A will stay with my Avata 1 and maybe we gonna se in future Avata 3 then will be worth to change ...:)
Thanks!

I appreciate that. We are winning. Sub and view count way up. ⬆️
What about the avata 1 with the axis motors does that fly better than the avata2?
Great video. I have both as well and agree with your assessment, other than the motion controllers.

Avata 1 is beauty
This video is exactly what i needed. Im buying one today. Perfect timing. Thank you brother.
Glad I could help

hi, do you guys still offer the service where i can buy a drone and send it to you for configuration? I don't think your site is up?
Experimental 3 axis gimbals for retrofitting on an FPV drone sounds awesome!
I enjoyed watching and sharing this great video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Thanks Justin great information

Is the Avata 2 quieter than the original?
The tone of the sound is different….. yes it’s quieter same decibels as the air 3
Yes it is. But a neighbor still came out to ask me “if I was flying a drone.” 😜
My reply was yes it is. No im not the Taliban or FBI. Just Justin. 👍🏻
Thanks. Yea people think we're up to something sinister with drones. In the UK they think it's spying!
Great advice my friend
Thanks Gene. I hope you and the family are well.
Glad I'm still here, cause I'm enjoy watch videos you make👍👍👍👍 ,
Thank you! 🙏🏼
great comparison justin luv both avata did notice avata 2 faster
Wayyyy faster!!!!

I want your video of the Avata 2 with the new RC Controller and mastering acro in htis new drone :D
Me too! I want them to make my damn Rc2 compatible. I know they can do it. I don’t want to spend $200 and have another controller to deal with.
@@dronecamps make compatible the RC2 controler is not rentable for DJI,maybe in 6 months, i hope you can get one from a UA-camr Friend :D
@@dronecamps
Apparently, DJI will unlock FPV Controller 2 compatibility with the Avata 2 in the next couple months or so.
You could easily reduce the max Speed of the AVATA 2 in Sports. So it’s no minus point.
True. Man I’ve now tested the Avata 2 doing some amazing tight gap and slow shots. I’m impressed.
Thanks for the comparison video.

No
any word on backward comparability? I have the goggles 2 and I'm wondering if it would ever work on the avatar 2
