This concert has the record for most requested tickets. 20 million people tried to get tickets for a 20 thousand seat O2 arena. Here's to the lucky .1% that made it in.
I’m not a drinker. But tonight I drink. And I’m watching this reaction. Diddy brought this riff to a whole new generation and culture. It moves me to watch this and listen to this. And to see your appreciation for amazing music. Period.
There were only 20,000 seats available and when they went on sale, all the servers crashed with over 20 million request for tickets in the first 2 hours. Also they were all in their 60's. Kashmir was first released in 1975. Singer is Robert Plant, guitar player is Jimmy Page, keyboards and bass, John Paul Jones, drummer, Jason Bottom, son of original drummer, John Bottom. When they were rehearsing they told the crew, NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS, they wanted to do it just like they did in 1975. Voted best rock band of the 60's-70's & 80's. Then came back in 2007 and did this in their 60's and killed it with NO AUTO TUNE OR OTHER ENHANCEMENTS today singers use.
I was lucky enough to be there ,stood right in front of the mixing desk barrier, the long shot camera just behind...Still gives me goosebumps, in the arena the floor shook to that monolithic riff, the bass foot pedals resonating in your soul...truly incredible 🤟Best gig I've been too by the best band. Wish I could of seen them in their pomp with Bonzo though.
Know that when you see a 70 year old walking down the street that this is how we rocked in our 20s. The invention of sex, drugs and rock n roll. And the greatest band EVER. Original GOATs.
The Drummer is Jason Bonham, son of the original drummer the late great John Bonham, filling the very big shoes of his dad playing his dad's original (YES ORIGINAL) drum kit.
Thing i love about this song is the inevitable reaction too it . Everyone knows it was special , and i agree i think this is right up there with the best version they did of it . A genuine musical journey .
When they announced Led Zeppelin was going to preformed at the 02 arena for the 50 years special in less than a hour they had request for 20 million ticket. That broke records for request in tickets, so they had to have a lottery for the 20 thousand lucky people around the world to witness this greatness.
Had to subscribe to anyone who knows music with the name "Sal" (lol) ... I played LZ when I was serving in the USAF (got drafted for Vietnam and dd not want to be a grunt) and the friends that I made in 1972 who were black did not know this band. I had to turn them on to LZ when we were sharing an OZ at a landing zone (LZ) ... They instantly got into the groove of Zep heavily (these were guys I also shared R&B with, since I was raised in NYC and was always into it). I remember when the first song I put on was "Whole Lotta Love" and the guitar break came in - they were sold! Then came "Black Dog" which sounded like the basic training marching songs, same style, that helped preserve cadence when marching miles. Only difference was the lyrics ("when I get to viet-nam, I will waste them viet-cong..." Etc.). I didn't like that shit because had an Asian girlfriend from Thailand at the time, and was not into greasing people for politicians, they were only my enemy because we were in their country and I had no 'beef' with them otherwise. You realize that if you are told to fight someone else you find out that people are the same everywhere - they have wives and children and lives just like you. Enough on that. The old man I am now looks back ... We had the best music and I don't say that just because of my age, I played drums and guitar in bands, and today with all the hi-tech and information and talent and skills, many famous musicians are just not creative enough for the wave of genius we knew in the 60's and 70's - you can't compare the innovation back then to the copycat stuff now, I just haven't heard that much that I can say is really "new" these days! Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, that entire 4-some (including the son of original drummer Bonahm, who was fantastic) blew me away playing that gig you just showed at their age! They aged like FINE WINE and I liked it better than the studio original! THAT IS RARE. SAL... My best to you, Merry and happy And God bless you and family... Daniel J
Sal, Sal, Sal! On this Thanksgiving Day, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! This made my day!! Love your great appreciation of them. When I saw this concert initially, I realized the there is a time bubble with LZ. It doesn't matter if they're 20 or 60 OR if I'm 20 or 60 the music is TIMELESS. It's about the MUSIC and their musicianship - not how they dressed or their moves on stage or what they looked like - Each of the 3 remaining members are the greatest ever and Jason is great on his own but represented his Dad greatly and channeled him playing his Dad's kit. I like to think of group of 4 men as the child of Led Zep - genetically it's there. 😁 AND THEY ABSOLUTELY STILL HAVE "IT" IMPORTANT TO REALIZE - This is the FIRST time they played together for more than a song or 2 in 27 years!! It's not like the got together a bunch of time to play since 1980. I see that you've done something today from the filmed 1969 performance (can't wait to watch) - You've done the bookends of their career as a band. We're really fortunate to be able to do that. This ENTIRE O2 concert is really phenomenal. Please check out some other numbers from it. You really didn't get to see them rock or do any blues - Black Dog ua-cam.com/video/fpigDGf6vXM/v-deo.html 🔥🔥🔥 with 20,000 people singing along!! or Since I've Been Loving You 👍👍👍ua-cam.com/video/0tDHy8GDFMw/v-deo.html or No Quarter (Perfection ❤🔥❤🔥❤) Jimmy brought the Theramin with him 😄 ua-cam.com/video/r7fMMcPByig/v-deo.html Hope you'll check these out too. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU
Promoters were salivating at the bit after this performance and they turned down numbers that would have had people drop dead to leave it right on that stage and that moment.
It’s rumored (I don’t know the exact amount) that upwards of 800 million was offered to them to take this on the road after this concert. Robert turned down the money. He never looks back at past glory, but is always moving forward into new challenges, new music experiences.....his creative soul always hungry. The same year this concert was held, he was touring with his own band AND started his collaboration with bluegrass Princess Allison Krauss. Their album, Raising Sand, led to five Grammy wins in 2009 for Plant and Krauss, and a two year tour. He had pretty much left the “rock” genre by this time and was pushing boundaries with his band....a mix of Americana, folk, North African rhythms and instruments....He came back to his “Golden God” years for this reunion. And I am SO glad that he did! So many fans hate on him for not playing that role again for them on tour, but he does not live his life for us, but for his own muse...money be damned. I respect the HELL out of that.
Well, you know... Both Plant and Page did a tour in the mid 90s, so it is not like he doesn't like/want the money and that he NEVER looks back at past glory and ALWAYS looks for new challenges, just saying
Hi might be grandpa age, but I’ll definitely not tread him like a grandpa. 😜 I’ve been in love with Plant since I first saw and heard him sing. Even if in age he cold easily be my father. Maybe a very young grandfather even.
While Plant has lost a bit off the top of his range, this performance comes off heavier and more potent than the original. John Paul Jones was pure magic on this song. Jimmy Page was on fire this whole concert. Their performance here was way better than their performance on the Song Remains the Same live album from 1976.
The proof that this band wasnt a myth .... and that Led Zeppelin with Jason Bonham filling in for his dad is the greatest band ever !!
Jason Bonham standing in for his late father on drums knocked it out of the park!
Oh.... and those other old blokes did ok😂🤣😂🤣
Absolutely killed it
They had 20 million apply for tickets the first hour for this concert!
Wow !!!
When you think about it, that was one-third of the population of the UK....
I would have sold a kidney to go to this concert!!!
Undoubtedly..the greatest band ever to walk the earth..
💯
along with PF..
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen and Pink Floyd are my top picks for the greatest bands of all time :)
I am 68 years old...these chaps never get old for me. 😎👏👏👏👏👏
5:38 gives me goosebumps every time! for me this is the best live version of kashmir ever
:)
Watch the knebworth show in 1979 with daddy Bonham.

I’m pretty sure that they are in their 70’s by now. I’m 54 and they are @ 20 years older than me

Gig of the century, no one comes close!

The greatest band ever and ever will be led zeppelin masters of rock and roll
couldn't agree more ... this song is my favourite rock song EVER
Anything ,Everything Zeppelin!! Best Rock Group Ever!!
In their 60s...Jason Bonham taught by his dad...they still are the best!! This whole concert was the bomb!!
Agreed !
You are privileged to be in the presence of true greatness!!!!!!!!!!
Now, for your own entertainment, watch the live performance at Knebworth in 1979. Bonzo’s drum fills and Robert’s voice were outstanding.
3:32. Your face. Was perfect. Just feeling it. Love this.
they were all 25 again for one night..
Nice !
When Robert does the Can I, Can I, Can I, Can I that is iconic!!!
Hats off to Jason !! How proud his dad would be !!

Plant has described himself as the “World’s Luckiest Wedding Singer. “
They came to prove they are still the best rock band ever and BOY did they!!

Pure class forever ....
i saw them live in 1975 in montreal quebec

The highlight of an amazing, inspiring performance. This show needs to be seen in it's entirety.

As good as it gets
The Gods of Rock and Roll. This is the greatest song ever.
At 4:34 I subscribed, love your vibe. Just FYI, at 65 I still feel the need to smoke a cig after watching Mr. Plant do his thang. 😎
You've gotta give Jason Bonham some love here!
yes sir !
Hi might be grandpa age, but I’ll definitely not tread him like a grandpa. 😜 I’ve been in love with Plant since I first saw and heard him sing. Even if in age he cold easily be my father. Maybe a very young grandfather even.
theyve still got it!
Absolutely
this concert attendance was decided by lottery cause there were over 20 million applications for tickets
20 million.
20 million!
Sheesh
In one hour there were 20 million request for tickets for this one time show!
Jason Bonham is an amazing drummer in his own rights , and just like his dad he is an animal with those sticks in his hands
This is my favorite performance of my favorite Led Zep song. Better than the studio version. I think they nailed it!
While Plant has lost a bit off the top of his range, this performance comes off heavier and more potent than the original. John Paul Jones was pure magic on this song. Jimmy Page was on fire this whole concert.
Their performance here was way better than their performance on the Song Remains the Same live album from 1976.
Love this🧡 How about Bob Seger “Turn the Page” radio version. Happy Thanksgiving 🐔🦃
Ya gotta know Jason Bonham got genes handed down from bonzo!
Plant is 72 and Jimmy is 76
You should add NOW to your comment. Might confuse some people who are not familiar......Then, Plant was 59 and Jimmy was 62....to be 63 in a month.
A grampa...A rocker
yup dope !
Please please please, check out George Benson live at Montrachet take five 1976
Wondering what it’s like when your grandparents generation was way cooler than yours. Asking for a friend. 😉🤣
Great band only one other band in their heyday in the mid-70s UFO
Should definitely react to another great song from that show: ua-cam.com/video/zuXUhOQzprA/v-deo.html
That was worse than nasty, that was filthy.
