I have a 536 HRD, got it for free 10 years ago from a professional gardener. It's now 27 years old, one pull and it starts. I just replaced the spark plug once and oil twice, that's it. Greetings from Belgium.
Hi Rob I had 0ver 40 years in the the business managing 4,000 acres of local authority ground and worked for 9 years self employed doing what you are doing,I’m now retired but enjoy following your videos as it reminds me of my years in the business and I wish you all the best for the future. On another note have you thought about taking on spraying of hard surfaces with a knapsack sprayer of all the jobs I did it was the best paying job of all of them. Once again thanks for your videos and all the best.
Thanks for your comment Keith, waiting for my part 6 spraying course. Covid stopped the training. I am booked on a course , this November via Newcastle College. Watch this space. Thanks.👍🏻

Great video again, still have a honda izy as backup mower, laughed the other day as neighbours not picking up lime mine, tipped it back and the ade was on upside down?!?!, few minutes later with a socket set, sorted, might go into servicing, or just keep on mowing......
Hi Rob. Great video. Looking forward to seeing video about winter work. My first year running my wee business and a bit worried about shortage of work in winter.
Hello Craig. Winter is a bad time for gardeners, I start putting money away now to help during December,January and February. It all starts again here in Newcastle during March , weather permitting. All the best.👍🏻 I will share a few ideas I have but there is no magic 🪄 .👍🏻
Great video, am looking at buying a used IZY for home use… that or replace the pull cord on my 20+ year old Harry mower. Enjoyed your straight talking style and subscribed right away. Keep up the good work and mind yourself.
Toro 53cm with the Honda government engine. Not heavy and actually has a very high setting for cutting severely overgrown grass. Also great for mulching down hedge cuttings and discharging back under the hedge. Very versatile mower and plenty powerful enough with any easy to use sensomatic handle and drive system.
" make sure you run it in 1st suggest 1/ pull 3 times no fuel in to get oil to circulate ! 2/ put fuel in start run " idle" for 15 minutes then high for 15 minutes then mow for 1 to 2 hours " to bed rings in under load !: 3/ suggest synthetic oil 30 grade ! Cheers
Hi rob, im self employed gardener for 14 years, i generally use honda hrd 536 4 wheeled mowers, there tanks and rare to be able to get the shoot to clog, only thing with all honda mowers is to up the revs by 400rpm Im currently switching over to electric ego tools but cant see myself giving up the 536 🤣
I had that same izy. I traded that in for the a weibang, but I did 3 lawns and took it back it was to heavy. I bought the hrx you have, great mower but doesn't like wet grass and then a year ago I traded the hrx in for a stihl 655 vs which I'm happy with. light weight and good in the wet grass.
So from what I can see the stihl 655vs is 49kg and the weibang I bought and took back was 56kg, it was the virtue 53 Pro. I didn't notice the weight as much in the shop until I got it in and out the van and on the lawns then I regretted it.
Hey rob good to hear you sold the Izy weibang is a very good mower and have a speed variable lever on them 👍 love the videos rob looking forward to the rest
Hi mate, this is the mower I use be worth taking a look at it (there are videos on UA-cam of it) great for all sized gardens 👍 - 22" Lawnmower | Zero Turn Lawn Mower | Self-Propelled Mower with Kohler Courage XT775 Engine Titan Pro
" change the governer on the " issy " then walk " at your pace " ( " issy" been around a while reputation " for reliability " can last 20 years also " so good 👍 a contractor " used " issy" for 5years every day 😀 !" ( i just bought new " issy" hrg 466 " no recalls this model "
Hey pal, hope all is well. Some type of variable speed on a 4 wheeled mower is a must for me. I would be looking at an 18 or 19 inch mower mate as you would have more versatility not having 2 identical size mowers. I've got a toro 19 super recycler (honda engine) that ticks nearly all the boxes for my needs in a medium sized mower and its great for those hard to access gardens with steps etc being only 35kg. Can you fit 2 mowers in your van mate?
Thanks for the advice , two mowers in the van is a bit of a pain but doable. I agree , a 19 inch is worth looking at. Busy looking at the stihl rm 650 v. All the best.
If I was getting a new 21 in mower I would probably get the Stihl RM 655 V , weibangs are HEAVY !!! I have the 46svp and that's heavy enough. I also have a Viking/Stihl MB448t. Good in the wet. But go with your own instincts.👍
I’ve had my Hayter 56 Pro for 5 years now. It’s been fantastic. Absolutely bulletproof. The highest setting is a bit low, but that’s never actually been a problem. I see you’re wearing a Hayter shirt. Have you ever owned any Hayter stuff ? Seems like they’re not even in the conversation anymore. Have they gone downhill ?
Mower. WEIBANG. I love mine. Sub numbers... There is only one one there going and that's ⬆️ up. Within a few short months you'll be counting subs numbers in thousands. Not hundreds. Well deserved as well. 👍
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices Your welcome. No. Not at all. Sure it has weight. But I associate that with quality. I use ramps to get it in and out the van and the self drive when mowing. So weight is absolutely no issue what so ever in my opinion.
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices a 19" is a good compromise. But it is just that. A compromise. I carry my 21" weibang which is my go to mower and my 16" little Honda Izy for the smaller jobs. But if you have a smaller van that may not be an option. So a 19" in that case will be the best of both worlds..... Sort of.
Do you actually need the other mower? Would have thought the HRX would see you through most things? The hondas a great, not used one but apparently the Toros are good and quick!
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices how about to stick with the hrx until you've had enough of it and can't cope 😅 and then use that as your back up. You can then get the mower you were after last month and get a better mower as your main once you've saved up

Looking forward to the videos mate. Do you find when a customer calls you and you go and view the lawn, that it’s very overgrown and long? Are most first time lawns like this or are most of your already maintained when you take them on? Thanks a lot Rob.
Hello Jack. Yes I find most fist time lawns are horrible. When I first started I gave a price per two weeks. Let’s say £30 per cut , 17 cuts per year. I then found you would sort the lawn out during the first cut and they would then say thanks , I am now going to carry on myself. Now that I am busy with fortnightly mowing work, if I take on a poor lawn I give a price for the first cut say £50, then £30 each fortnight there after. That stops people taking a lend. I hope that helps. Rob.👍🏻
Move the govenor and off ya go as quick or as slow as you want I will put up with anything my 18 inch throws at me because it never ever lets me down and its quite light for picking up and puting in the van Once the speed issue is sorted I honestly dont think you will find a better mower the 21 inch in my humble opinion is a bit clumbsy the 18 just right !!! But every man/woman to their own !!!!!!!
Thanks Scott, I am torn between the RM 650 v or the RM 655 VS. I have a good 21 inch Honda. Would like something that picks up wet grass, the 650v may offer the best of both worlds. Do lots of medium lawns with the odd large lawn. Your opinion is appreciated. Rob.
@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices I have the 7 series and the 6 series roller which to be honest I haven’t used that much but other people say they are good.
Hi Rob I've recently bought the stihl 655 v 21 inch. So far so good. Collects the grass well especially in damp conditions that's mainly why I got it as I work in Scotland 😂. I also like the mountfield mowers with the Honda engines. Keep up the good work 👍.
What lawnmower would you recommend for someone just starting the business and that’s mainly targeting small lawns? I feel a grand is way too steep as I am only doing my business part time, maybe like 3 to 4 clients a week.
