There's a video on UA-cam of Rodney Dangerfield on David Letterman's show but David Letterman kept interrupting the flow of jokes. Miss you Rodney. PS he always joked that he never had luck with women. In real life, he had a beautiful wife named Joan.
For about 10 seconds he had me going with that crying. I think it's a thing that great comics or comedic actors can do by making you cry and laugh at the same time.
I was walking down the beach, when I suddenly realized I was coming up behind this voluptuous blond woman, wearing an incredible bikini that she filled out perfectly. She had all the curves and the sexy sway in her walk.... I thot she was out walking with her dad... But as I passed them and make the testosterone mandated look over the shoulder, I glanced real quick at the man, and it was Rodney Dangerfield.... Suddenly I was more star struck with Rodney than the blond.... That's how great he was.... He just nodded and said, "How ya doing?" He knew, that I knew, that he knew that I had sped up to catch them walking for a specific purpose... and he was ok with that... What a man! Damn was she gorgeous!!!!
Small clarification: he said “…when there’s no one ON the bottom.” That was the joke. It was a euphemism for sex. ;) Or at least that’s how I interpreted it.
At his age, he could still make the audience roar with laughter. It's very tough to do but Rodney was a huge talent for many years. I guess you all know that well. I miss Rodney and love to watch the old clips, reminds me of the good old days watching Carson as a teenager with my parents (when I was lucky enough to stay up a little later). Nowadays there isn't a show made that parents and kids watch together - they will never have the chance to reminisce like I do with old tv shows, they spend so little time together compared to the generations before.
Rodney had not been on Johnny's show for quite some time, And so he came up with a bunch of new material out of respect, and I have always been grateful for his love of comedy, and his friend
I remember when Johnny was getting close to retirement and so many celebrities were teary-eyed during their last visit. Johnny had done so much for so many careers. Rodney caught me off guard for a moment when he changed gears and talked about May 22nd (Johnny’s last day). He really sold it and even the audience got quiet - until he lowered the boom. Great last appearance for Rodney, and I know Johnny and the audience loved it.
It was always a special night when you tuned into Carson at 11:30 and found out Rodney was a guest that night. Wife and I been married 26 years. Sept. 3 1992 was our first date. We saw Rodney with Robbin Williams, Jim Carrey, Bernie Mac and Pauli Shore in Anaheim for the Tribute to Sam Kinison. It was being shot for HBO. Not a bad first date. We sat on the isle that Rodney came down and he put his arm around my wife before he got to the stage. She was so happy. I haven’t been able to top that one. You can watch it on UA-cam Sam Kinison tribute for HBO. I watched it 25 yrs. later. We were in the fourth row. Couldn’t see us. Too bad. My Girls would have liked that..
"I can't get no respect." One of the greatest lines in stand-up comedy. It's right up there with Henny Youngman's line, "Take my wife... please." Rodey's brand of self-deprecating humor endeared him to everyone. When he appeared anywhere, you knew you would laugh.
I have to agree. Henny Youngman and Rodney Dangerfield, two of the best live shows you could possibly see. They new how to take command of an audience and work them into complete hysterics. The warm up comedians never stood a chance when one of these two were headlining.
@@motogp001 Speaking of warm-ups... I never knew that programs like Carson's Tonight Show would have comedians come out before the shows started taping and "warm up" the audience for Carson. Carson mentioned it once when Buddy Hackett had been out and the program started with the audience in hysterics. Apparently Buddy been treating them to portions of his Vegas act which was not for prime time.
These guys were legends. Carson set the course for the whole nite show genre. Dangerfield had his own unique style. Never duplicated. Comics back then had class. Red Skelton was another one who didnt have to cus for a laugh. Those days are long gone. 🙏❤😅

PS he always joked that he never had luck with women. In real life, he had a beautiful wife named Joan.
For about 10 seconds he had me going with that crying. I think it's a thing that great comics or comedic actors can do by making you cry and laugh at the same time.
Someone help...couldn't make out on audio what Rodney's joke was when he was fake crying...like 7:55 in. Please help.
@@andredelmontdelmont4663 "Y'know I feel I'm gonna choke."
Man, Rodney was on fire. Great clip.
He was the best! There will never be another Rodney.
Can never be topped. Great standup, and amazing movies. Thanks 🎉
This is my favorite appearance. His jokes were always a 10. But his delivery here was just something special.
Ya Brian both these guys are irreplaceable.good old days.
So great! and even after he passed on his tombstone is written "There goes the neighborhood."
I can listen to his jokes over and over again and I still laugh!
Now I got no dawg 😄😄
Some zingers in here I'd never heard before, wow
I'd never heard them either.
The one I don't remember was playing the video backwards about the hooker. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard it!
Some I'd missed too. He was the best.
Rodney had not been on Johnny's show for quite some time, And so he came up with a bunch of new material out of respect, and I have always been grateful for his love of comedy, and his friend
Saying to Bernadette Peters : "How you doing baby?" he's quite the charmer!
He called Ed baby, too. haha. I caught that the second time.
What a legend. A true legend. I am so glad that I got to see him in person! One of t he few celebs so really really miss!
Thank you for Posting! A temporary escape from the real world
I'm glad that fame finally came around for him. He deserved it. Thanks for posting this. I miss him
Am I the only one who laughs at these clips no matter how many times I watch them lmao😅😅
There will never be another Rodney Dangerfield
I remember when Johnny was getting close to retirement and so many celebrities were teary-eyed during their last visit. Johnny had done so much for so many careers. Rodney caught me off guard for a moment when he changed gears and talked about May 22nd (Johnny’s last day). He really sold it and even the audience got quiet - until he lowered the boom. Great last appearance for Rodney, and I know Johnny and the audience loved it.
Class act. Miss you Rodney. You get tons of respect from me sir.
Love how Johnny plays the straight man and sets up Rodney. And Rodney hits it out of the park.
A truly funny guy...timing, delivery, wit, amusing...thank you Rodney
I want to thank all the people who filmed, recorded and hopefully play this over and over. Truly ge
"I can't get no respect." One of the greatest lines in stand-up comedy. It's right up there with Henny Youngman's line, "Take my wife... please." Rodey's brand of self-deprecating humor endeared him to everyone. When he appeared anywhere, you knew you would laugh.
He got his act from Henny. Watch them back to back.
Henny Youngman?
@@MichaelGunner123 You don't know him?
Amazing intelligence. Miss Rodney. Unfortunately, in today's times, many younger folks will miss his point of humor and humility. Great guy.
The funniest man that ever walked this earth. I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU. A VERY KIND MAN. GENUINELY ALWAYS GIVING. RIP ❤️
May his sole rest in peace. There is no more good times like this. Rodney was one of the best.🙏
Sole 🐟 ..?
My goodness what a nice treat! We love Rodney!!!!
I absolutely loved this guys comedy. May Gods perpetual light shine on your soul Mr. Dangerfield.
Too funny. Rodney could tell a joke faster than most people could spit.
What a comedic tsunami! Quick witted, intelligent humor...no one like him, give him Respect.
These guys were legends. Carson set the course for the whole nite show genre. Dangerfield had his own unique style. Never duplicated. Comics back then had class. Red Skelton was another one who didnt have to cus for a laugh. Those days are long gone. 🙏❤😅
One of the few who split my seams !
Thank you for sharing this old clip of the terrific Rodney Dangerfield! One of my family favorites growing up. God bless everyone from Patrick
