Believe me or not, but after I poured hot tea over my trusty apex 5, I struggled for a month to buy a gaming kb. I'm a gamer. Used a substitute office kb since. Yesterday got this kb. But it's fully modded - akko piano switches, new white caps, all lubed, pe foam, tape Mode 3 ply, removed some gaskets. It's... Amazing. Thocc, gaming is smooth, typing is 1st time in my life enjoyable. I guess the stock kb is fine too, since the feeling you get from just holding is like it's a Ferrari. Aluminum, oled (gimick imo), and a dial. The dial has Media volume, brightness controls. It's tactile. I feared it would misspress, but so far if I want to tune volume or mute, its smooth. My gripe is the fact that if you want to not mute but stop media on background while in game, you have to press the dial to get to the media setting. They all said it looks nice IRL, but I was skeptical, how a gaming kb with plastic bottom can look good. Damn, the kb is prestige galore! From each side it feels and looks premium, The front panel is aluminum and is a beauty. The bottom plastic is the best plastic I've ever held. Easy to mod, pe foam, tape mod, etc. prelubed, but can swap for cheap akko switches. The 2.4hz wifi mode is revolutionary. I feel 0 difference in FPS shooter like fortnite and warzone to wired mode. There is only 1 downside to this kb. The caps. You cant see sht, even during day, unless you turn RGB to max and even then its so so from and angle. At night you can see easy at 25%. During day, the caps look like they dont have legends on them at all. like they are pure black and grey only. You cant change much without asus armoury crate, and in wifi mode, only crate can change settings. But armoury crate is bs app. Cant set brightness to lower than 25%. Its 0, 25, 50, 76, and 100% only.

Made a simple DIY mode, 3 ply painters tape mod, took out the stock foam on bottom, and put PE foam under switches. Sounds thocky, nice. PS-if you want some lower style switches like akko cs piano, no fret. The stock caps are semi-low profile, thus hybrid, and can easily do shorter switches. My akko switches lowered the caps by 2mm, and the kb handles it perfectly. all cheap to do mods. You can also remove some gaskets to have more flex.

Good to see Asus ROG branching out to an enthusiast level of both custom keebs and gaming mice. These products are SOLID. Excited to get my hands on that board for sure. Great review 💪🏽🔥
The shape of that mouse is like my Steel Series Rival 3 Wireless. That "hump' is actually really nice for medium to large hands. Less pinky drag on your mousepad.
The keyboard looks pretty dope, but I wish they were focusing more in performance by creating their own unique switches to compete vs Lekker, OmniPoint switches and stuff
I think it's more of a competition with non-gaming brands especially with hotswap sockets. While hall-effect is very neat I think both hall-effect and hotswap are pretty good options.
We do offer our own internal design switches both ROG NX and ROG RX switches our NX switches are pre binned a rarity amongst pre builds as most do not guarantee force deviation consistency. Also pre lubed and we have different actuation/reset points. Switches are complex though and highly personal but as a whole we feel we have a very solid set of switches that most users and many enthusiasts would be entirely fine with. On the other end we have our RX optical switches which offer many benefit such as reduction keycap wobble, brighter more consistent illumination, fast and consistent actuation and stability.
Man, it feels fantastic seeing more gaming keyboard brands putting out keyboards closer to enthusiast-grade. And the lubing tools included? Wowzers, I am speechless.
Let's consider the fact that he lubed this every damn switch for a 10 second soundtest snippet on a *gaming keyboard*. If that's not dedication I don't know what is.
I was shocked when you were showing the included lubing kit with the keyboard. If the ballpark really is a steal, it might be one of the best 75% options out there.
i'm in Taiwan, and today i got to order this keyboard at around 245USD, hopefully it won't be marked up too much when it gets to the USA. it is a steal at this price if the keyboard performs as good as Brian says. thanks for the review, i ordered it because of this video.
Nice vid as always. I gotta know though, what is the wrist rest you're using in the video? I've never seen it before. Thanks for the quality content as always.
Just got my white azoth, it’s great. Idc about the 250$ price tag. This is the first keyboard that I have actually been happy with. My last 2 keyboards were the GMMK Pro I got on sale for 250$ and the Razer Blackwidow v4 tkl(200$) my gripes were no wireless capabilities. I also had the apex pro BUT when I’m not gaming it felt like crap. Finally happy with this keyboard through and through
Hell yeah bro, this is a solid set as long as that redacted price is good. Also looking pretty healthy these days bro, awesome job. Cant wait for more videos.
Great review BadSeed, impressive build quality. I was wondering what brand are the speakers you use with your system? Best of wishes and a Happy New Year
I'll say the same thing I said on Keybored's video, if they offered alternate plates I think this would be a homerun. I hate steel plates. Gimme POM, PC, or FR4. Great video as usual brian!
To see a gaming keyboard that is actually pretty appealing to enthusiasts as well feels like a dream. Most keyboards I've ever seen are either completely gamer-orientated and not appealing to enthusiasts in the slightest, or completely enthusiast-orientated and has some setbacks that might bother gamers (other than a HELLA lot of RGB). I just hope that BadSeed Tech means an actually affordable price point by a "steal" because I feel like keyboard enthusiasts are the type of people who would call bank-breaking price tags "dirt cheap". Edit: Apparently the new keyboard will be $250, which no matter how many features you get for the money, dooesn't sound like a "steal". I think enthusiasts are so desensitized to above AirPods level prices for keyboards, they'd call $300 for a "better-sounding" and "better-feeling" mechanical keyboard "dirt cheap" like it's actually $30. The custom mech keyboard world is literally the California of the overall keyboard universe. Wanna cheap out? F u. You must destroy your bank like the rest of us for anything acceptable.
Brian I can’t believe you didn’t throw in some of your own switches and cap onto this keyboard! Either way I’m really blown away by asus who usually brings rather tacky (opinion) peripherals. Hats off to asus
Your videos are the best. Thanks for the fantastic content and honest reviews. Plus the “NOPE” over the price had me rolling. I was waiting for the price the whole time…🤣
Did you have the chance to check for interference with cherry profile keycaps? I'm a bit worried given it's north facing. Great review as always, Brian.

Thanks badseed for the video I got my ROG red switch Azoth today online. I want a wooting but it wont be available till mid April, they said it should be available on the shelf at that time and the preorder time is right there also. I'm going to use the Azoth for a few months holding out to try that wooting. I wasnt too sure on this Harpe mouse though, is it worth the 150 or would you pull out other mice first in that range for like overwatch 2 gaming?
Honestly, I would get this over other custom keyboarda. It’s got features I love in gaming keyboards, features I love in custom keyboards, and wireless connectivity. How amazing is that?
These look great, I used to work at ASUS and their peripherals have really come along. How was the software? That was usually the main pain point with ASUS products. They do also like an ASUS premium on their peripherals so hoping these are quite reasonable.
People doesn't seem to realize about what "we" enthusiast and the mainstream want out of a keyboard, it's a huge difference, and this baby step from Asus is just the step we needed to bridge that difference, to introduce some of the features that we loved so much from our boards. I'm looking forward for what they'll do for the next iteration
I'll probably never buy a new keyboard for gaming now that I have a Wooting but this is still impressive, and the Harpe looks like a solid mouse! It's nice to see companies like Asus finally making changes to keep up with the trends
@@Kizzster it's still objectively better, even if you don't think it's special, and you can mod it anyways to make it special. A custom design resin case and a limited edition keycaps set and it becomes special.
@@Kizzster from a gaming performance perspective it is the best keyboard out right now because of the adjustable actuation and most importantly rapid trigger, the apex pro is close but doesn't have rapid trigger. i have a custom KB for work and casual games and i use the wooting for fps and rhythm games and i don't see that changing
Very cool board, but I'm more excited for the mouse! Edit: I like that both have wireless options (and BT), although my keyboard stays wired, I use it wireless with my work laptop and I use the mouse with BT and I feel like this is useful to a lot of people :)
I have been looking for a new keyboard, and though I am not big on the gaming-looking peripherals, this is definitely in my radar. I wanted a good gaming keyboard that I could use my and with my MacBook and this is right up my alley.
I just bought this and am not 100% sure about keeping it. The main issues for me are (1) the 3-way button should just be a knob. Even if it's a scroll knob/scroll wheel, so much better for adjusting volume. This button thing is no bueno. (2) The OLED screen should have more options without needing Armoury Crate. Why can't I set it to show a clock as a built-in setting? Why is the default to always the ROG logo constantly reloading and animating? I don't want that thing running nonstop while I'm typing and not even looking at it... (3) can you please start using classier keys/fonts for your gaming keyboards. "Gaming" doesn't have to mean teenage cyberpunk. These letters/fonts are UGLY. If the keys and font were better, this could totally be used for a productivity board. Even better, have an option without the gimmicky OLED screen that doesn't serve any real purpose. Then you could have a real knob or scroll wheel and a dedicated delete button closer to the F12 key while also allowing dedicated home and end keys along with page up and page down. Why the heck is "Ins" a dedicated key over home/end? What a silly choice.
One thing to note, and few additional info. For you, firstly, I don't even use the dial for anything. I keep OLED off, and since the kb supports key remapping, I assigned F8 - F12 to volume up/down, mute, play, and pause. I assigned right CTRL to open UA-cam, and the Ins(ert) key to open X/twitter. You can assign a key to open website, apps, and have media, volume and other functions. Its SO intuitive and useful! I couldn't use a kb without this. Tho I think there is an key remapping software that should allow this on any kb. IDK... Additional info about this kb: 1) Armoury crate is crap, but without it, I cant change RGB in wireless mode. L. You can be 5m from PC, in bed, wifi mode and it still works. 2) Even with stock switches, which are transparent, the legends on caps are almost impossible to see on 25% brightness during day. Even 100% is hard, especially from angle. And without RGB, not only during night, but also day, the caps look like they have no letters on them. They look like solid black and grey caps, you cant see anything. So after I got my akko switches, the RGB is even dimmer. The caps, tho feel good, when it comes to RGB, are the WEAKEST (imo only) POINT of the kb. 3) A full 100% charge, with 1 minute timeout and 25% RGB will last you 2 months gaming and typing easy. Without RGB maybe 3 months if not more. I have 90% after 2 weeks of heavy use. 4) You can use any USB-C cable with it, but I would only use wifi dongle, as I feel 0 difference to wired mode even in games. 5) The entire kb, IRL, looks 10x better than on video, and feels super premium - 0 flex, top alu, bottom plastic is very sturdy and 0 creaks. 6) Its all custom, all switches, caps, PE foam, lube, stabs change, tape mode 3 play, removable gaskets etc. Its a custom that happens to looks a bit gamery. But with different caps it looks office like. Oled is a gimmick, switch can be unused via key remapping, and even all stock it feels superb. The strongest buy reason is the wireless mode. Its....revolutionary. Like...no latency in warzone or fortnite etc, no cable on desk mingled, lasts months on 1 charge and charges fast back up. This is just too good. Will never buy a wired kb ever, nor mouse.
while i personally still wouldn’t buy the azoth, this is certainly a huge step in the right direction. we’ll see how the market will change in a few months, really interesting stuff
In daily use, nah? Been running it since I did this video trying to run down the battery on the Azoth (still haven't lol). Only weird thing with AC is to uninstall it, you have to download a specific tool.
@@badseedtech Thank you for the info I uninstalled it on my rig recently cuz I herd about all the bloatware that it installs and slows down the pc, might give it a chance since I got an rog motherboard
I want to like the ROG line of products but my main problem is that their Amoury Crate software is their automatic profile switching which I use is super slow and laggy, like definitely 1+ second when I switch to different programs.
ROG stuff is always has super premium build quality, but also a super premium price tag. They're usually behind the curve on peripherals though so it's nice that they seem to have caught up. If these are priced more competitively (prob not considering the collaboration with AimLab and the unnecessarily extra amount of accessories for the keyboard lol) it'll be interesting.
Thanks for the feedback, I would disagree we have been behind the curve but tried to balance designs where they make the most sense not just releasing a model just to release it, we were one the first if not the first to fully implement USB-C for instance across all of our mice even while some competitors have micro USB. We were the first to openly note CPI deviation tolerance, 1st to offer hot swap switch design. Among many of common gaming mice also first to offer tri mode connectivity with USB-C, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth. Beyond this unique designs like our Chakram, and Claymore II. With that noted there is room for improvement and we continue to expand and refine and increase our product offering. We feel confident moving into 2023 we have a very solid product portfolio for gamers across varied price points which also including models like our TUF GAMING M series. Lastly I would note if you look at our value compared some competitors it is much stronger overall Our Gladius III for instance offered a premium wired/wireless mouse with premium paracord cable, two set of skates, two sets of switches and premium build quality the addition alone of the second switches and skates is rounds out a very solid offering not with standing the mouse its self. Moving to our construction I would also say the community has generally communicated a superior level compared to many others in regards to overall construction which is also a value point on what you pay for especially as you move up price point wise.
@@ASUSUSA Any chance on software for the keyboard and mouse so we don't have to install the notorious Armory Crate? I've been an Asus mainboard and graphics card user for 20 years but no chance in hell I'm going to install your mainboard software again. You certainly must be aware of the problems with it, your own fora are full of complaints and while Asus has excellent support they don't offer much support for Armory Crate. I'm an Asus fan and would love to buy the new mouse and keyboard but unless new software is coming that doesn't mess with your system the only thing I will be able to use is the pad.
Asus setting a new standard for what a gaming keyboard is. Problem with custom keyboard companies like keychron is the big inconsistensy because they expect the customers to mod themself. This is very welcoming, hope you release a white one in nordic market.

Man, it feels fantastic seeing more gaming keyboard brands putting out keyboards closer to enthusiast-grade.
And the lubing tools included? Wowzers, I am speechless.
I just bought the combo for black friday sales and so glad I did. They both feel amazing and defn added to my gaming experience when I play apex
Let's consider the fact that he lubed this every damn switch for a 10 second soundtest snippet on a *gaming keyboard*. If that's not dedication I don't know what is.
Loving the content, can't wait for this one.
But I am still waiting on the lamzu review you have mention online.
That cm ruler is fucking DOPE. Idk how no one has thought of that yet
I was shocked when you were showing the included lubing kit with the keyboard. If the ballpark really is a steal, it might be one of the best 75% options out there.
That keyboard is legit what I’ve been waiting for. Buying it as soon as it’s available locally.
Pretty crazy that they included Krytox and the switch opener.
oooo that 75% keyboard format is nice! Nice to see these bigger companies adpating it.
i'm in Taiwan, and today i got to order this keyboard at around 245USD, hopefully it won't be marked up too much when it gets to the USA.
it is a steal at this price if the keyboard performs as good as Brian says.
thanks for the review, i ordered it because of this video.
Nice vid as always. I gotta know though, what is the wrist rest you're using in the video? I've never seen it before. Thanks for the quality content as always.
Whoa, Asus taking notes on the custom keeb market and making a decent sounding board.
fr with some good akko caps for interference and a cute gif thats rlly awesome
I really appreciate the fact that it has Mac and pc keys. As someone who uses both daily, it’s a must
bought the new Azoth with NX Snow and gad damn ... it is one hell of a fine keyboard , no mods needed
Great video ! ASUS coming in with the heat
1:53 completely random question but whats that game you're playing there? looks amazing. Also great product review as always
Finally happy with this keyboard through and through
another awesome video, looking forward to your UpToDate amp/dec review
Brian, you had shotgun mic so close that the proximity effect was heavily influencing the sound tests
I saw ROG's analog keyboard on a store near me and yes I can confirm that their stabs are top-tier
I am blown away by this keyboard especially when its from ASUS, btw great video as always!
I was waiting for the price the whole time…🤣
Damn I might have to grab this over the wooting, that layout and wireless sounds REALLY nice.
Did you have the chance to check for interference with cherry profile keycaps? I'm a bit worried given it's north facing. Great review as always, Brian.
"That is a steal for what you are getting in that board" thanks asus great stuff and wish a great year ahead
Woah the keyboard sounds good was not expecting that
Very nice, thanks for the review! 👌🏻
I've had my Steelseries sensei for around 9 years so if this mouse is similar in shape, I might be into it
The mouse shape reminds me of the old school mouses we had back in the day in middle school (20years ago)
62hours with both rgb and oled display on is insane
Asus took notes on pretty much every enthusiast ask for both of these products, huge W from a major PC brand. Don't normally see this
2 weeks in, battery in wireless mode, with 1 min timeout and 25% RGB brightness has dropped just 10%. 90% currently, with lots of gaming an typing. So this will do 5 months? Doubt it. But I think the 2 months ,that many say, will last easy on 1 charge. And I feel 0 difference to wire mode/wired kb, and I play FPS shooter games. So this kb is kinda revolutionary imo
What’s the mat you have under the mouse pad? 👀
Damnit. Whenever I wanna quit the game, dope stuff like this releases. Will be copping this set, looks incredible and has features I really want
Those clicks actually sound super nice. I'm loving the keyboard too. The font is meh, but I'm super into the height of the caps.
This keeb look very promising. Good review as well. A few prices are coming out and I would not call this a steal.
I'm glad I see videos like this, seeing the companies actually give a shit and actually improve on their products
finally a good customizable gaming keyboard and a good mice too from ROG.
Damn, never see this coming. It's a very good step up from ROG
75% is by far the best layout i need more companies on that
Thanks badseed for the video I got my ROG red switch Azoth today online.
That keyboard sounds GOOD omg
Would sound better with some Badseed tactiles. When are we getting a new batch of those? 😄
awesome, thanks beard, Stay up
Wow, the keyboard is through the roof!! Awesome ASUS!!
Harpe ace or death adder v3 pro for my first mouse? Plan on building my pc early next month
Damn, that sounds phenomenal stock. Well played Asus.
Easily the best sounding stock gaming board I've heard
I recently built my GMMK Pro because I couldn't get ROG Flare II Animate in Nordic ISO, but Azoth will probably be replacing the GMMK Pro.
this man just cocked blocked us with the price!!! haha what a Tease. Always great Vids ma man! SOLID
Honestly, I would get this over other custom keyboarda. It’s got features I love in gaming keyboards, features I love in custom keyboards, and wireless connectivity. How amazing is that?
looks like I'll be returning my keyboard and waiting for this one to come out!
There probably never will be anything objectively better than the wooting, even subjectively since you can mod it with a better case and keycaps..
Okay maybe a 65 version might be more useful to some users but other than that I can't think of any improvements
Someone told me the wooting isn't that special what would you say about that
@@Kizzster it's still objectively better, even if you don't think it's special, and you can mod it anyways to make it special.
I click for the tech stuff, stayed for the awesome beard.
Glad to see the channel growing. Sub to the hommie, he be putting out detailed videos every time.
IDK...
Additional info about this kb:
1) Armoury crate is crap, but without it, I cant change RGB in wireless mode.
Mr.Brian thanks for the video. That keyboard is looking right but I'm scared of what the price is going to be.
Ever since I discovered the Basilisk sensitivity clutch feature and thumb button, I won’t use a mouse without it for FPS.
That keyboard sounds great!
ROG team really are listening to the customers! If priced right, I might get one for myself too.
while i personally still wouldn’t buy the azoth, this is certainly a huge step in the right direction. we’ll see how the market will change in a few months, really interesting stuff
Is armory crate as bad as I’ve been hearing?
In daily use, nah? Been running it since I did this video trying to run down the battery on the Azoth (still haven't lol). Only weird thing with AC is to uninstall it, you have to download a specific tool.
@@badseedtech Thank you for the info I uninstalled it on my rig recently cuz I herd about all the bloatware that it installs and slows down the pc, might give it a chance since I got an rog motherboard
Armoury Crate is horrendous.
I want to like the ROG line of products but my main problem is that their Amoury Crate software is their automatic profile switching which I use is super slow and laggy, like definitely 1+ second when I switch to different programs.
Your Setup is Neat would love to have the Items Desk , Mats , Speakers etc.. For once UA-cam Recommendation got me into a good Channel
Lastly I would note if you look at our value compared some competitors it is much stronger overall
Our Gladius III for instance offered a premium wired/wireless mouse with premium paracord cable, two set of skates, two sets of switches and premium build quality the addition alone of the second switches and skates is rounds out a very solid offering not with standing the mouse its self. Moving to our construction I would also say the community has generally communicated a superior level compared to many others in regards to overall construction which is also a value point on what you pay for especially as you move up price point wise.
@@ASUSUSA
Any chance on software for the keyboard and mouse so we don't have to install the notorious Armory Crate?
I've been an Asus mainboard and graphics card user for 20 years but no chance in hell I'm going to install your mainboard software again.
You certainly must be aware of the problems with it, your own fora are full of complaints and while Asus has excellent support they don't offer much support for Armory Crate.
I'm an Asus fan and would love to buy the new mouse and keyboard but unless new software is coming that doesn't mess with your system the only thing I will be able to use is the pad.
Definitely going to cop all 3. Hopefully I can get the finalmouse keyboard when it drops
Asus setting a new standard for what a gaming keyboard is. Problem with custom keyboard companies like keychron is the big inconsistensy because they expect the customers to mod themself. This is very welcoming, hope you release a white one in nordic market.
This was an amazing review no doubt but can we talk about how majestic his beard is
ok that keyboard really got my attention but its a north facing led so pretty much avoid anything cherry style keycaps if your worried about switch interference overall it looks good on my book
Out of topic question: What's the thin grey mat under your monitor and mousepad? Really looking to cop one hehe
Holy moly everything look so slick! Impressive. Plus if you are used to imperial units now you have a new very convenient way to measure your stuff in cm without using a converter ahahah, ROG stuff is much better these day, too bad I'm wasting most of my money for my next build in a ROG am5 mobo and monitor, yeah that one from this video.
Any thoughts on reviewing the Beacn Mix/Mix Create? I've had it since launch but would love to see what you think about it!
