Thank you, Dr. Jones. My oldest kitty lived to 18 years and I never took her to a vet, other than to get fixed. I fed her well and she always had her spring water, lots of sun from open, screened windows and of course, lots of love. She thrived and at 18 years, passed in her sleep.
That’s amazing but you should take your cat to a vet she might have not have to, but unfortunately we have too. Many of us live in cities where our cats are indoor cats. They might get more illnesses from being inside too. I just give my cats what on their pet programs. But anything else is scary to me prices are questions that many people don’t have money. I just want to know why the vet charges so much?
Oh I’m so sorry! I know that feeling as well. My Gizmo was the king of the house. I miss him so very much. I hope to see him again some day. He passed away in my arms. Make sure you take as long as you need to, to grieve. I ended up on meds because I was so distraught. It’ll get easier to think of the good times, without crying. Its getting used to a new normal without them. ❤
@@skipper523 I am still trying to get over the loss of my Yorkie who died at age 13. The Yorkie I had before lived to be over 20, an unusually long life span. I expected my next Yorkie to live to be at least 18 or so. Then I found out 13 is a normal life expectancy and it could even be much shorter. The cancer rate skyrocketed in pets and there must be reason. Too many vaccines? Roundup? Chemtrails.?
Same here, my cats are indoor, except for being in their garden catio on warm sunny days. I believe many people over-vaccinate their animals, something that cannot possibly be good for animals or humans. Taking dogs to dog parks, boarding kennals and groomers exposes them to all sorts of diseases they would not get otherwise. I once took my cat to the vet, who called me, and told me to take her home, before she got sick, from the other animals there. All my cats live to be 18 or 19 years old, none has ever been hit by a car or taken by a predaor. Some people would do well to be more careful with their pets, especially with the freezing temps most parts of the US are experiencing at the moment.
@Channel23--Awen I often give them fresh fish, or canned sardines, are also good for them. You can make your own cat food if you go to one of the UA-cam vet channels that demonstrate how to do that. Have to makes sure it includes taurine. Quality home made cat food costs half as much as canned, and you can freeze it. Sometimes, I let them have a bit of raw or cooked egg. At first they turn their noses up at it but after a few minutes they have scoffed the lot! Try not to give them dry cat food that is full of chemicals, and cooked at very high temps, same as dog kibble. My little dog is blind, 12years old and toothless. His previous owner kept him outside and fed him rubbish, I have to give him soft food, he likes salmon and veggies, he is only 15lbs, so doesn't eat much. Not sure that I would be able to afford to do that if he was a big dog. He is very agile and happy, loves to go in the car or for walks.
@Channel23--AwenOne good brand is Feline Natural from New Zealand. It's high protein, low carb and no fillers. I gave it to my last Kitty who was very sensitive to things like guar gum or xanthan gum and she did very well on their food. They have canned and freeze-dried and it is more expensive than the average food it could be worth it to save you some Vet bills. I had a local store that sold it for about a dollar less per can than they did on their own website so I always felt that I had a pretty good deal on it. I believe Chewy sells it and probably Amazon as well.
@Channel23--Awen He has several videos on diet both purchasing certain commercial brands and recipes on making yourself. He has a new book out Veterinary Secrets Revealed I have is spiral bound. I buy his supplements and when you purchase on his site you get free e-books with the order some are on diet recipes.
Doesn't that contain sodium? Unhealthy, as it raises blood pressure and is so bad for cats with kidney disease, as very many older cats have.@@macnchessplz
Our "barn" cat lived 23 years and we finally had to put him down. He only saw a vet twice. Once to be neutered and at the end to be put down. He lived totally outside and in the barn. He loved his freedom and was a great kitty. He never had a sick day. We found him when he was about 4 weeks old cast aside along a Kentucky Highway. Rest in Peace Kato.
Sadly barn cats where I live have a very short life due to coyotes. My friends' cat was grabbed and killed by a coyote right off of her door step. My cats have an enclosed catio, a win-win.
My precious kitty, Tippie, will be 25 in may...I give her your supplement everyday, she loves it. It has made a big difference in her ability to jump and get on windowsills and just keeps the vomiting away.. Her daughter Petunia, lived till 23 and she used to go outside. Never had a cat live this long and she is my best girl I ever had. Thank you, Dr Jones.
My cats live long too Never have shots don't believe in them they cause cancer and always fed canned and dry and lots of water and meat chicken beef and turkey and raw meat too
I’ve had many fur babies over the years. Every year I took my cats to the vet for their yearly checkup and vaccines, however I never had a cat that lived over the age of 12 (one died from heart complications due to diabetes and the other 4 cats died from cancer). I realized that I needed to try something different to help my cats live longer & healthier lives so I went the opposite direction of the vets recommendations for vaccines and stopped getting my cats vaccinated with the exception of their first set of vaccines. Mind you all my cats are indoor cats so that limits their exposure to certain viruses. Anyway my instincts must have been somewhat correct because my last four cats were all very healthy and all lived to be 18-23! That’s proof enough for me that the vaccines were making them sick 🤷🏼♀️🐾
Vaccines make us all sick animals or humans, they are all there to help the big pharmas get richer when they provide the so called cures for all the extra devastation they create .....
My sister never brought her cat to the vet for vaccines, only for illnesses that occurred. I don’t know if the cat’s former owner took the cat to the vet for vaccines for the first four years of the cat’s life before my sister adopted the kitty, but kitty lived to almost 24 years old!
My cat was sick for almost two years with pancreatitis and her eyes started draining. She was on Prednisone twice. I started giving her probiotics, which seemed to help. What really healed her was feeding her liver. It took about 3 days and her eyes stopped draining. This brought her energy back. My senior cat acts like a crazy young cat now. She gets liver for a week every month now. Nothing the vets did ever seemed to help her.
D-mannose is an amino sugar that helps with bladder and kidney infections. Harvard medical school study proved D-mannose worked better than antibiotics with no side effects.
@@whatevergoesforme5129as I understand it, I think cats can eat chicken liver, but I think you have to be careful with pigs or lambs liver. I think too much can be toxic.
@@teresamoore3671 I do use chicken liver but I read somewhere not to give too much and I forgot the reason why. That article said give chicken liver once in a while but use chicken breast more often. I think it is about how liver meat may contribute to kidney issues.
Same here and I've had and have a lot of cats. I currently have 3 soon to be 15 yo cats, 2 14 yo cats, 1 13 yo cat, 1 10 yo cat, and other younger cats. They've all remained very healthy with the exception of a male that was pretty banged up when I found him. So, I truly believe that not giving them unnecessary vaccines every year has kept them healthy. Sadly, most veterinarians push and/or require vaccines every year. I've been fortunate to find some that don't.
Me too. I adopted a cat from a coworker and she had all her shots and spayed when I got her in 2004. She never got another vax. She was an indoor cat and the best first cat I ever had. She passed March 20,2023, aged 19. I miss her terribly. I gave her cat food, the expensive one and still she developed hyperthyroidism at about 14 years old. I ended up making her own food from then on. I didn’t give her any heart worm or flea meds either. I would comb her and she did not mind a bath every now and then. RIP Birdielove. ❤🐈 😢
I worked in a Vet school and a few of the vets told me vaxx were their bread and butter, its how they pay their rent! Reprehensible like MD's trying to pay their malpractice insurance.@@lifewith9cats153
😢😢I wish I had known this priceless information before. I lost my 17 year old cat to kidney disease in May 2024, she hated the vets office, I tried to help her, didn’t do the drip, tried every wet food until she went down hill seemed so quickly, took her to another vet, ran tests, all readings high….it happened so fast, she was such a quiet kittie…..we didn’t bring her home, had to make decision to let her go. I should have tried harder….i was numb….thought they would tell me what to do to help her and. Bring her home….i didn’t do enough for her….😥😥💔💔Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping so many animals and their owners
Thank you for saying this about the vaccines! I've always only ever gotten the series of vaccines needed prior to getting my cats fixed. Then, after that, I've not had any more vaccines. I even told my one vet this because they're strictly indoor cats, and they always say "you can bring stuff into your home to your cat on your shoes". I was denied adoption of a cat once because I didn't have my cats up to date on their vaccines, and I said I didn't believe they needed them as they are indoor cats. I had the lady tell me I'm a poor cat owner. I'm not. I'm protecting them from unnecessary vaccines. If they were outdoor cats, yes. Indoor, NO. They're all healthy and live long lives!! I feed wet food and use kibble on the side.
My cat presented multiple symptoms of UTI and Constipation several weeks ago. He ate both canned and dry kibble up to that point. After immediately changing his diet to high quality protein, either canned or freshly prepared in the refrigerated section, I noticed no improvements and added Natural Herbal Remedies for all his symptoms with some improvement. But when I called to make a Vet appointment with his established Clinic, I was told that they were down to only one Vet. And that it would be 2 mos before he could get in and was referred to a brand spanken new Emergency Clinic in a notoriously pricey part of Coachella Valley. So furiously, I did a bunch of research and ordered Cat Quercetin and CBD Oil from here! After several more day's and multiple home remedies and his products, my cat is just fine and doing well! But absolutely No More Dry Kibble for him, ever again! Ditto for Quackscenes! Thanks Dr. Jones, you are the BEST!
@kristiblack4789 yes I give my dogs and cats both those plus his supplement to add to the food. I know this may sound like a bot commercial, but I'm not a bot and this is a genuine testimonial. I think this in the long run saves vet bills...is an insurance policy, and look at all the free help Dr. Jones gives us daily!
I have a 22 yr old cat who came to me as a week old rescue and her primary food is grainfree biscuits and canned food. Since I changed to these particular biscuits my cats are now living up to and over 20. All my other rescue babies are fed these grainfree biscuits , in winter I feed them fresh meat and canned as well. There is big bowls of fresh water everywhere in the house and a pond and other sources of fresh water in the yard which is totally catproofed. I only ever had them vaccinated when they first came to live, then no more. Thank you for all you do for all the animals, you are truly a wonderful person and vet. Have a great year. 🤗
@@dietschegroosmame3596 I live in Australia so these biscuits are made here. They are called FUSSY CAT . All my cats love them, I've never had any cats reject them, which is great as there are 36 at the moment. I've been rescuing felines for over 50 yrs and tried so many brands including Vet prescription and none have performed as good as these. I spent heaps of money at vets for babies with health issues due to the food. They are bigger too so the cats have to chew them. The one I use mostly is Turkey based and has Cranberry which is wonderful for any with UTIs, I also use a fish one full of Amega oils for their coats, and these ones are pyramid shaped which keeps their teeth clean.
I just put my short hair tabby down yesterday. She lived 18 years and lived in CO, HI and CA. Starting out as a house cat she quickly became indoor/outdoor with the move to Hawaii. I’m not sure if she’d pick chasing geckos or hiking in Paso Robles as her life time favorite. Her last shots were at age 10 because HI was very strict. She refused to eat canned food and didn’t even eat soft treats. The last three years she gradually lost weight, from 10lbs to 3.5. Only in her last day did she have trouble grooming, jumping and walking. I followed most of Dr Jones tips (except the canned food)…. especially making her environment fun… she loved grass, waterfalls, drinking from hoses, my hair ties and my heating pad. I’ll be sure to follow all these steps for my next kitty. Feeling like I did a good job keeping her healthy and happy.
I brought 3 of my cats to Florida from Hawaii and they lived to 18 and 19. One was sick when I brought her though and died shortly thereafter. I had a holistic vet in Hawaii who lied about the vaccinations which were needed for flight. Surprisingly they made the transition via the plane and a new life very well. I never vax my animals after the initial requirement for neutering. That's my personal choice and almost all my cats lived long lives. They sure were my keikis!
My cat is 21 yrs old and she is deaf and she has cat dementia. She forgets what room she is in. My vet recommended Royal Canin wet food Aging and she has taken to it so well. She loves her food and I make sure she has fresh water .I know she is Really old and she is so precious to me.
do not feed your cats Royal Canin, it's not grain free and not very nutritious either, full of additives and preservatives, read the ingredients and decide for yourself if it's suitable for your cats, high ash content means the food is filler also
My cats love anything with rabbit. Some favorites- Nature’s Variety, Ziwipeak and Rawz (very pricey Though). I currently feed Tiki Cat, Weruva, and Smalls which is fresh frozen food grade. One other thing- I always warm up the food. I either use the double boiler method or simply add warm-hot water in the wet food. The aroma is enhanced and they gobble it down. And they’re getting additional moisture. In fact, they slurp the liquid first. To those who may find this step excessive , whether you’re talking about an animal or a human warm food is better!
The copy center I used to go to had a resident cat age 25!!! So wonderful, didn't even look stiff or anything. Gives us hope to not succumb to what may seem inevitable breakdown of their bodies just because of age!
@@ooohlaa13 but from the cat's wellbeing how can a cat at that age live a comfortable life in it's silver years? Are you able to be specific about that? I'm curious and want to be ready when my girls get to a similar age...
My oldest cat, an orange Maine Coon lived 25 years. The majority of my cats live into their 20s. Kindness, grooming help, cleanliness, high quality kibble and soft food, Fancy Feast 3 times a week, or more for those very old cats with fresh water at all times. If they are ill, and I can tell, they go to the vet. Volunteered for a cat shelter, took some home, others found me. Have only one cat left who acts like a 5 year old at 17 with many more years to live. Attention and love have a way keeping a kitty to want to stay with you. Love sweet older cats. Really do not know why my cats live a long time. For very old cats, I mix warm water with their special food, keep fresh water on the deck where they like to sun. Never over vaccinate the elderly.
Agree with most of what you wrote except Fancy Feast (junk) and kibble (no way). Wet everyday of the week! Add carrots, apples to keep their teeth clean.
Please do more cat care videos, I am so grateful for this one! I soak my cats dry food til it fully hydrated before feeding. Im a herbalist and have used herbs to help support my beasties health and ailments. My senior boy developed ragging allergies after being treated for a urinary block, I am certain the antibiotics they used stripped his intestinal biome balance which "crashed " his immunity. So I'm doing everything to rebuild his gut/immunity but it's been frustrating. I get him better then he starts tearing up his skin again and licking his body raw and bald
Soaked or not, its still garbage. Read industry reports on how it is obtained and cooked and no one will use dry except for little treats. Canned is not a lot better some "animal by products" used can barely be classified as food, more like entrails and garbage. I worked in a vet school and the consensus was our cats and dogs are so sick because of what we feed them, and too many pharma products including vaxx. So who can cook all day for your cats and dogs? But at least try to supplement with real home cooked food as much as possible and don't give them fast food leftovers!
My old cat lived to 20. She drank water, ate raw beef and occasionally lambs kidney, nothing more. No drugs of any kind. Combed and brushed her every few days. She had lovely white teeth. Miss her dreadfully.
Devastating news. I LOVE my 8 rescue kitties. I can barely afford to feed them on my disability income. Kibble is pricey enough. Canned is out of the question. Pet food sellers should have a sliding scale. There's more poor people helping animals than rich people. Good thing I can use my own limited amount of food income, I am not too skinny - yet. Kitty will eat chicken and turkey. Sigh. Pets are for the rich - along with other excellent things in life. Just one more example of the "haves" and the "have nots." Dr. Jones, your episode about vet charges was spot on. 👍🏻
Oh man...I. in the same boat! I have rescued cats...and at this time, I'm feeding over 30 cats...oh ya, dang expensive!! I too am on a fixed income....we manage...somehow, I strongly believe the Lord provides! I give these cats the best I can....I also mix into their breakfast, pumpkin, pink salt, extra virgin olive oil and 2-3 raw egg yolks...I make a gravy adding a our 2/3 cup hot water...I ladle out a couple spoonfuls over each large bowl of cat food, wet. Dinner...just canned cat food...it's a real chore, and I'm just an old woman....but I'm in great shape, thank God...or I certainly couldn't keep on. But, it's hard! But, God is good, and He provides! My dear, beloved mother used to say that if the gov't really wanted to do something helpful, it would help subsidize all the cat and dog rescuers who try so hard to take care of these poor animals! No one helps us rescuers! But, I rely upon the Lord! He is so good. Shalom! 💜💙🕊💙💜✡️✝️💜💙🕊💙💜🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
@bluespruce679 And you know who else DOESN'T help? The Humane Society. They tried to charge me $10/cat for feral kitties I helped THEM catch for TNR. They get SO much funding. Their CEO's get paid VERY well to say "No" to helping rescuers.
@TheDespiser Huh? It's not like I breed them or bought them. They are fixed. I "rescued" them, as in just trying to help existing animals. How is that irresponsible? I have no issues sharing my resources, no matter my current paucity of them. What a comment! Wow!
Dr. Jones, if I may recommend to pet parents with senior cats. My 14 yr old tabby has trouble grooming her lower region. It bothers her to the point that if she doesn't feel 'clean', she will avoid her favorite blankets and beds. I have a soft brush and she willingly gets brushed each morning, including her butt, to remove anything clinging and irritating her. The brush is washed weekly. I also recommend a warm washcloth to gently but thoroughly wipe down the inside flanks where urine may have settled. Thank you for all your help Dr. Jones.💛
I just had to put my 16 yr tabby down… yesterday. Her kidneys were shutting down and we are devastated. We have two other fur babies and your advice is so tremendously appreciated. I too agree animals are way over vaccinated and with care and commitment they will thrive! Thank you for speaking true and helping us all to know the path forward
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Losing a beloved pet is an experience I can empathize with, having gone through it myself. Please find solace in knowing that Dr. Jones and I are here to support you during this difficult time.
I foster neonatal kittens, sick cats/kittens and lactating queens and their kittens. I’ve done so for a little over a decade. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on vet bills… while I still lean on my vet and western medicine when necessary, I’ve had SO much luck with natural supplements/home remedies for common ailments and general nutrition. My vet(s) have been little to no help when it comes to these topics… so I’ve relied on doing my own research and anecdotal evidence from myself and other cat rescuers. I wish I would’ve found your content a long time ago! I so appreciate your dedication to the health of animals you’ll never meet.❤ I can’t wait to read your book.
The First Mate turkey is my kitty's favorite food too! Thanks so much for your help. Having to go to the vet clinic is akin to having to go to Frankenstein's place.
Perfect list of items to incorporate into my 10-year-old feral female cat's upkeep. She seems very healthy and I want to keep her that way. Totally wild .... never been indoors .... survived 6 sub-zero winters under my care. I feel she wouldn't go indoors no matter what she was offered. She frolics outdoors running, jumping, moussing, climbing fences, climbing trees, and climbing on our house and neighbor's roofs. She loves to sit on the fence and watch traffic . . . . NO mainstream conventional Vet for her!
Also, for indoor kitties, grounding is very important. You can hold your kitty and put his/her paw on your bear skin as you're barefoot or touching a tree. You can also get grounding pads, and catios with some grass connected to the ground, work great. 🙏🐾❤
@@Dave-cq9fntrue! I gave my two young cats high quality kibble for few days because they really like it. I noticed their mouth smell bad. No more kibble.
All 3 of my babies take CBD for their health issues. All have shown positive effects and they absolutely love the treats more than supermarket brands. I feel CBD is a must for both people and pets.
My cat passed away last week aged 19. She was a street cat that we took into our home, I fed her Cat cream 15g tubes, raw beef, boiled chicken & expensive cat food & only water to drink. She loved creams a lot & loved to lick the sauce of the wet cat food before eating it.
My 17 year old Siamese cat don't need none of that crap. She is fine and eats regular hard food. Her teeth, eyes and coat are still good. She is beautiful. Less energy these days Slight arthritis in her back legs. I took her to the vet not long ago, and they were scared of her because she got violent. They said though she is healthy and can live many more years. I hope so, she has been my buddy since my 20s and now in my mid 40s she is still hanging with me. When that dark day does come I will be in despair and be lost😢
My oldest kitty turned 19 a couple weeks ago. I give them a high protein hard food (Purina One), and soft food as well. She's only been vaccinated when I had her fixed. Only give flea drops if I start seeing them, typically only once, but treat the rooms multiple times. My other is 10. Even at 19, she still plays with the cat toys.
My senior cat is a rescue and I have no idea how old he is. He’s at least 11 years old. He has been eating commercial wet cat food for years, but has been noticeably slowing down, sleeping a lot, rarely playful for the past 3 months. Lab work shows kidney changes. In my search for better food, I found one he loves, but it’s MACKEREL 😭. It’s a holistic wet food (no recalls) - he’s been eating that flavor every other day for 3 weeks and he’s a new cat! Now I’m finding out about the high phosphorus. Back up, regroup….
Re stress: As I was getting out some of MY nutritional supplements one morning, I turned around and saw my cat happily munching away at a couple of tablets 🤣 she had decided she needed more vitamin B and therefore ate my nutritional yeast tablets 🤣🤣🤣 (she's never touched anything else I take or eat, she is very polite and waits to be offered something) This ended up becoming a habit, as well as solving the driving 'issue' : if we need to go somewhere in the car, she gets another Vit B and she happily goes to sleep (instead of meowing ALL of the journey at precisely 3 second intervals) or looks out of each window from every conceivable angle or standing on the steering wheel ...
@@sunayakong8537 It is not a 'sleep aid' as such, but as it works on the nervous system it can facilitate sleep if the cat has some underlying worry or tension.

I’m very alarmed by Vet giving gabapentin two cats and calling it a pain killer. That is a terrible medicine and humans have had a horrible time with it. I know it’s in the Vet formulary. They’re using it for everything. I feel so sorry for the cats that take it.
I am using your ultimate feline formula for my cat and her hair is shinier and she has more energy and no vomiting no diarrhea and she likes it. Thank you for making that Dr. Jones. I trust you.

My Freddie girl lived to 22 despite idiopathic hypercalcemia, pancreatitis, hypothyroidism, hypertension and, in her last years of life, CKD. That girl was a trooper, happy and active until her intestines stopped being able to process food. I'm so glad I was in-tune enough to know when she wasn't feeling well The signs were so incredibly subtle for most of those issues.. Thank you for the information you share on your channel.
You Cat formula is a miracle for my 12 year old cat. He has had two surgeries in the past with gi tract problems, specialty food made his skin and coat terrible. back to no grain, canned cat food and the Cat formula and he is back to his old self.
Thanks Dr. Jones for thinking of our older cats!! Too little info out there if you want to go down the healthy route. Also another good one is Colloidal Silver! Have it on hand for scratches, tick or flee bites, mouth hygiene... just spray it on or in or add a little to drinking water. Also, for indoor only cats, chop up a little grass (just a blade or two) to add to their food, as it aids in digestion as well as prevent fur balls. Thanks for what you do ❤ Take care and GBY
My cat comes running over whenever she hears the glass pipette in the bottle opening so much for her silver squirt, that she'll do it for anything, in the hopes it's her stuff. She'll put her head up at an angle to the left, and just start licking her nose, as I squirt in a couple half filled droppers worth, at the corner of her mouth. Have had cats since I could walk, and NEVER had a cat take to 'medicine' like that!! Pretty clear to me ..!
I so agree with you! I have 2 senior girls, 11 and 12. They never go outside. They have tons of toys and I give them canned food and water fountains. I stopped vet visits after the age of 10.I sleep with the 5 times a week. They are happy and healthy.
My sister and I always laugh at these cat videos. His cat just quietly sits while he sprays stuff in his mouth or combing his fur. Never the less, as always, a great informative video.
Personality. Each cat is different, just like us humans. Some will let you do pretty much anything to them and others don't like being handled much. They can be from the same litter and raised together.
Thank you, doc. Sadly my senior cat loves her Royal Canin so if I took it away she wouldn't eat much. We give her wet food 3Xs a day but she loves her crunchy food & at her age I'm gonna let her enjoy what she likes. Edit to say I don't believe in any vaccine for any living being.
@@janecrossman6979 My cat is 20 and has been eating regional red for more than 10 years. Is way younger biologically than 20 and consistently eats the same amount and has consistent elimination. She won’t eat wet food. That is very likely because wet cat food is cooked to death. She likes the freeze dried raw WILD RED meat in regional red. She can’t stand chicken and is mildly okay with fish. Now that she is older she also gets (NOW AND THEN) some supps, vit d3/k2, collagen types 1 and 3, cartilage type II, raw fertile egg, fish egg, eye cat supp, some homeopathy and occasional herbal parasite cleanse. We also do some near infrared on her, osteopathy and other hands on treatments. Her treats are a small amount of raw glandulars. I wouldn’t attempt to put together full raw meals for her like I have my dogs. She has only ever been able to eat fresh raw of about 1/2 teaspoon a couple times per day. She would starve eating only fresh raw. Lightly cooking is worse than freeze dried raw.
Thank u thank u for saying important things about nutrition: moisture, obligate carnivores, wet poultry based food. I have a degree in animal nutrition then went to vet school. I was alarmed at the hold on vet students and schools, by pet food companies who sell their foods based on their own research - conflict of interest. I believe research must always be evaluated on its own merit, and when the researcher is benefitting financially from the work, met with objective skepticism too. When I would speak up against hi carb dry foods and talk about cat metabolism (ie how cats rely on fat as an energy source and dont do well on carbs because of pancreatic stress), I was met with hostility. Eventually bullying and unfair, unethical tactics by instructors and admin forced me out after I had passed everything including the board exam. My own cats have been eating only poultry wet for years and have normal urinalyses. Thank u for your opinion re vaccines too. Laura.
Good for you! It’s hard to stand up to those people. I so agree with you. I do my own research and I have an invisible degree in veterinary practice. :-) My cat “Frankie” had a Struvite Crystal (caught it in time as soon as I saw he peed blood) and got him to the vet that day to flush it out. He is 8 yrs old and just had all his teeth pulled to Feline Resorption Lesions. He always gets a yearly checkup by vet every January 4th. I was so sad Frankie (Ginger cat) had to have this done but knew it had to be done. He is doing well now and back to his lovey self. He was on Gabapentin for 4 days which I just hated giving this to him but had no choice. I don’t agree with vaccines every year especially since Frankie NEVER goes outside and never will. My vet whom I do like will not treat any animal without vaccines. I would like to find a Holistic vet who does not require vaccines. Frankie was a stray in our neighborhood for 3 years before we moved here and then he found me somehow. I found out his history of being dumped in the yard of a woman who fed the strays and when she was sent off to a assisted living situation because of Dementia all her strays had to find another source of food. I took Frankie ( he was so calm and willing) in and vetted him and neutered/microchip him. He now wants nothing to do with the outdoors but has a nice large screened in porch to watch all the bird, chipmunks and squirrels we feed with delight. I wish I went into Holistic Veterinary Practice. Maybe my next life. . Good luck to you!
My female, indoor, Siamese will be 20 years old February 8! 😍 Feed raw chicken and turkey with added ingredients, and dehydrated protein soaked with water as a treat. Some holistic people recommend giving pets a 20 minute epson salt/baking soda 100 degree bath. I tried it once, and still thinking about it. I'm my own home care pet person...thanks in part to your helpful advice. Thanks!
Im so grateful to find such a beautiful and intelligent group of pet parents. Dont forget to research V given to humans too, money motivated and evil practices accepted as fact from aggressive marketing. Sad shame.
There is a colostrum supplement called Tri Factor (for humans) that I have been using on my super-seniors for years. Making your own cat food is easy... crockpot+ food processer or blender + quality supplements = healthier cats! Listening to Dr Jones is the best way to have happier, healthier cats! ❤😊
My local pet store sells a Colostrum powder for cats and dogs. It cleared up my dogs yeast problems, but it's supposed to help with all kinds of things. Like a factory reset...so I gave it to my cats too.
My cat is 21. Never had an oral problem but I am sure she has one now. I want to add two things: probiotics and keeping inside 24/7. I would love to try propolis.
You have great advice! ❤ However, it worries me seeing Smoky eat directly from the can. I have read that cats can accidentally cut their tongue or mouth on them. 😢
Thank you for every video you make. I am in rescue, and your information has saved me and others thousands plus helping us help more animals. Bless you.
I want to say thank you for your help. You've really been a light for me and the savior of my best friend. I appreciate you very much and I know your products are trustworthy and the best options available in many cases. Thanks, Dr. Jones. I'm so grateful for you and your work.

After this video I am 100% convinced that I am going to strictly follow Dr.Jones. thanks Dr.Jones for lifesaving tips and advices❤ Kindly tell us one more thing that do we also need to stop deworming our cats after every 3 months??? Just like you said about the yearly vaccines for our cats, do we also need to stop deworming our cats after every 3 months???
My cat alliester is 20 he has kidney disease for many years and hyperthyroidism I pay extra for the medication flavor chews so I don’t have to force pull him. It’s great because you can also squish it and flatten it and add a creamy mousse to it and he eats it all up! He’s also on the vet cbd brand with the highest thc for pain anti inflammatory along with the standard process supplements for renal hepatic and immune I also give him lysine and colostrum and some of the animal essentials for urin and heart health. He use to get inflammation in bladder but the tinkle tonic prevents that! Only problem I had was finding him non toxic pet food that is low ash. He just likes the just for cats , some raw food, and I do bpa free and most non toxic canned no grains. I also do b 12 under his skin Hope this helps someone.
Rabies vaccine is required annually in my state. I have to in order to get the Vet’s prescription diet for urinary blockage. I feed them royal canin canned food, and also real chicken, turkey or beef. The prescription dry kibble is for morning treats.
My vet said my cat won’t need a rabies vax if he is indoors all the time, so I went along with it. I regret allowing my cat to have distemper and feline leukemia vax’s for years.
Special thanks to you Dr Jones for your for our pets . I have 2 cats, ❤Monte Carlo and ❤Angie Angel. I called them my children that how I feel for them to be part of my life . My 13 year old cat has been on dry food her whole life. I tried her on wet food years ago because she needed to be on prescription food. She basically licked the gravy off and left the rest to dry and harden to a gross mess. And that prescription food isn’t cheap! Now she has mild pancreatitis, and I’m trying to fatten her up because she’s lost about 3lbs. In addition to slipping her liquid anti-inflammatory into treat paste packets, I decided to try wet food again. But this time she’s getting Friskies with some of her dry food mixed in. She’s taking this down like a boss. With the wet food and the treats, she’s visibly gained weight. I take her back to the vet soon, and I know it’ll be a good visit. 😊
@@GeorgianaOnline yes! Thx to that raw food he is still alive otherwise he was gone! Sometimes I give him canned cat food too but there should be no carbs, no grains..
My indoor kitty is 8 years old, she only had shots at 3 months when I had her spayed. She has been very healthy, eating well, and very active. I recently noticed her gums seem pale and she doesn’t like to drink water. I give her wet food only. I wanted to take her to the vet, and so far 2 vet offices refuse to see her if I don’t update her shots, saying it’s state law. I don’t know what to do, I really need her to get checked but don’t want to start giving her a bunch of vaccines all of a sudden! I recently lost my 23 year old kitty from kidney disease. I believe she lived that long because she also never had shots! Recently moved to Texas.
Thank you for the info and especially the warning about metacam. Many vets just brush off the concern and say the medication is fine. My recently passed 10 year old kitty had good bloodwork in January 2023, but went in for 2 dental surgeries and was prescribed metacam after each surgery for 5 days. We read the label but didn't realize how common and serious the effects could be and also weren't informed by the vet. We trusted that the experts knew best. Only a couple months after those surgeries, we go back in for bloodwork and the kidneys and liver are failing. Such a big change in the values in only a couple months. Eventually the Kidney and Liver disease progressed so much that we had to say goodbye. There's no way to know for sure that it was the medication that caused the sudden downturn in my fur baby's liver and kidney values but it seems likely to me. I wish we had realized how dangerous it could be and had looked for alternatives.
This is so refreshing thank you. We've been of the same mind about so called vaccines for a lot of years and although we did get them in her early years we stopped a long time ago and our cat is 18 this March. She plays like a kitten and has a lovely Black shiny healthy coat. We give her 90% wet food and she has a bowl of dried gastrointestinal food around all the time which she also enjoys. She LOVES being brushed too 🐹 💖🇬🇧
Our 17 year old girl has'nt had vaccines for eight years. She began to show signs of Hyperthyroidism six months ago and is now taking Thyronorm and pain meds for Arthritis. She has gained a little weight and seems better. Drinking has increased so I make sure lots of fresh filtered in her bowls. Our Vet did'nt encourage further vaccinations but to keep an eye on blood tests in future for her Thyroid condition.
Thankyou Dr. Jones for this video. I have 3 cats aged 4, 5, and 12yrs old. I feed them grain free dry food and raw food. My older cat spent the night at the vet and came home with a cold. I was told it was because i haven't been updated with his vaccines. They are indoor and i haven't vaccinated for 3yrs now. My vet told me to vaccinate every 2 years. After watching your video i had no idea it can cause kidney disease and cancer. All my cats get their dental done every couple of years by my veterinarian. Thankyou for this video. Very important information.
My cat is now 20 and every day is a gift. He eats quality wet food, a bit of high quality dry and plenty of water, He has some arthritis, yet still jumps on my bed. I do not vaccinate now and he is an indoor cat and never goes outside . He is a sweetheart.
Jones, our cat is 20 and has never been willing to eat any type of wet food. She’d starve first, apparently. She loves a high quality red meat and a bit of fish via a dry food (it also has some duck and boar) with lots of other good nutrients. NO chicken, she has always hated it. We also do gentle herbal cleanses about 2x per year. And we add a few powder and liquid supps for nutrients. No meds, no vaccines. By the way myos, which helps increase the ratio of follistatin over myostatin has been a key. Every supplement is towards regeneration of bones, joints, eyes, ears, teeth, cartilage (not chondroitin, glucosamine, MSM), and ligaments and tendons. Her OA is almost reversed by the way. Also gets homeopathics as needed and a bit of osteopathic. A very small amount of D3/K2 and omega keeps her coat good. And the near infrared lamp (not a flashlight type) has been very good for her. Her water is top notch, spring water from a pristine spring, nearly no contaminants, minerals are not removed, no heavy metals, no bacterias, just living water (it might be the single most important component that has kept her tipped in the right direction in terms of her health). She occasionally gets a sliver of raw gland or organ as a treat. As we do right by her, she stays relaxed. She doesn’t have the ability to jump as she once did and she seems to sleep a bit more frequently but otherwise doing well. As most of us human adults know, particularly those of us in medicine, everyone is different.
I have a question I have a senior cat that has hyperthrodism. Is there any alternative med that can help my cat? You're the best! Thank you for all that you do 😊
My previous cat lived to almost 23. Still ran around till 22. No vaccines after 5 years old and ate both kibble and canned food daily till her teeth got bad at 22 so only wet food. Also ate some of my food especially free range chicken
Great tips!! I'm glad I couldn't afford to get my cats yearly vaccinations now! 😆I wish I had known about the diatomacious earth sooner cause my cat had seizures for a few years after she got fleas and I had to give her the traditional flea meds. The vet thought it wasn't possible that was the cause, then a year later the manufacturer of the flea meds announced it could be a possible side effect.
Thank you, Dr. Jones. My oldest kitty lived to 18 years and I never took her to a vet, other than to get fixed. I fed her well and she always had her spring water, lots of sun from open, screened windows and of course, lots of love. She thrived and at 18 years, passed in her sleep.
The best way to go if you ask me.
No dental cleanings?

No shots? 💉
Same here. Loved my ickle Mollymoo

Our kitty is 19 this year. No vaccines and a good diet. She's a fun cat.

I mix a little extra water in my cat’s canned food. Helps her get more moisture in her diet
Adding clear, unflavored Pedialite helps too.I add it to my cat’s water.Along with soft food-they get kibble too.
I do the same thing.
Doesn't that contain sodium? Unhealthy, as it raises blood pressure and is so bad for cats with kidney disease, as very many older cats have.@@macnchessplz

Wonderful, she is exceptional.
may i know which supplement brand you gave them?I want my cat to live a long healthy and happy life too
I’ve had many fur babies over the years.
Wow. That's wonderful. Wish I had done that with all of mine.
It's a big money making operation.
So the cats don't get 4in1 and anti rabbies shots yearly? I'm really having second thoughts now about my cats' yearly vaccines.
Did you give raw or cooked liver?
D-mannose is an amino sugar that helps with bladder and kidney infections. Harvard medical school study proved D-mannose worked better than antibiotics with no side effects.
@@wandadelacruz2486 I am not the OP but for me, I give cooked liver but not all the time.

I also feed another 4-6 cats every day for the last 13 years. I will not let them starve but heavy rain as it is now causes feeding issues
I'm so jealous I hope my kitties live that long.
My indoor cats did not get vaccines since they were spayed or neutered. My two females lived till 19 and the other 20 years old.

My cat is 23 years old. We encourage her to drink water, so we bought her a kitty water fountain. She loves it!
Nice❤️
I was just thinking of getting one for my little girl I just adopted. She is a senior kitty of 11 yrs.
Totally agree with you. Went through something similar. You’re doing good. ❤
You should have told her she is misinformed and if she owns cats that get vaccinated regularly it's her ignorance causing them to die so young.
We have to do our research and think for ourselves! Vets are sold a bill of goods by vaccine and Rx cat food manufacturers. 👏🏻👊🏻
What kind of grain free biscuits do feed them?
Are they homemade biscuits?

Sorry for your loss
She loves her food and I make sure she has fresh water .I know she is Really old and she is so precious to me.
do not feed your cats Royal Canin, it's not grain free and not very nutritious either, full of additives and preservatives, read the ingredients and decide for yourself if it's suitable for your cats, high ash content means the food is filler also
@@HUYI1Hi, my cat just will not eat wet food. Do you know of any brand which may entice her?
Got it and will do!

Is hydrating kibble an adequate substitute for some of the daily wet food?
@@vi9763 Absolutely not! Plus, it promotes fungal growth of which kibble is often contaminated.
Your cat needs fish oil. Omg your poor cat! Also give your cat probiotics for one month.
My old cat lived to 20. She drank water, ate raw beef and occasionally lambs kidney, nothing more. No drugs of any kind. Combed and brushed her every few days. She had lovely white teeth. Miss her dreadfully.
That's wonderful that she lived to 20! Did you mix her beef with anything?
Mine eats raw filet mignon, very well cut up in small pieces. I don't mix it with anything.@@SS-zn8ke

@bluespruce679 Thank you for the recipe, I'll add that as I can.
@bluespruce679 And you know who else DOESN'T help? The Humane Society. They tried to charge me $10/cat for feral kitties I helped THEM catch for TNR. They get SO much funding. Their CEO's get paid VERY well to say "No" to helping rescuers.
I know all those humane are a bunch of show off.... I also feed 5 cats 3 dogs and rescued another 2
@TheDespiser Huh?
Sorry you're feeling devastated. You gave her a good life and will see her again xo
My two cats are 10 and 17 years old. Your advice is spot on. I follow those 7 tips and my boys lead happy healthy lives. Thank you😊
Also, for indoor kitties, grounding is very important. You can hold your kitty and put his/her paw on your bear skin as you're barefoot or touching a tree. You can also get grounding pads, and catios with some grass connected to the ground, work great. 🙏🐾❤
The fact that nobody talks about the forbidden site Vislork speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance
What is Vislork? I'm in NZ and nothing came up in search
A vet who I liked very much was a believer in dry food (good quality) and a bowl of water. He felt that the kibble helped clean the cat's teeth.
I've read the studies about this. Dry food does stick to cat's teeth and causes tartar build up and gingivitis.
Thank goodness I have a vet that recommended not giving any more vaccines to my now 20yo cat years ago.
My cat 😻 just meowed Blessings to you DrJones♥️ for all that share with us. He's on a raw diet, filtered water & thriving😻🤗🙏
Re stress:
As I was getting out some of MY nutritional supplements one morning, I turned around and saw my cat happily munching away at a couple of tablets 🤣 she had decided she needed more vitamin B and therefore ate my nutritional yeast tablets 🤣🤣🤣 (she's never touched anything else I take or eat, she is very polite and waits to be offered something)
This ended up becoming a habit, as well as solving the driving 'issue' : if we need to go somewhere in the car, she gets another Vit B and she happily goes to sleep (instead of meowing ALL of the journey at precisely 3 second intervals) or looks out of each window from every conceivable angle or standing on the steering wheel ...
I have a 20 yo cat and she can not sleep at night, are you saying eating the nutritional yeast helps your cat sleep?
@@sunayakong8537
It is not a 'sleep aid' as such, but as it works on the nervous system it can facilitate sleep if the cat has some underlying worry or tension.
@@sunayakong8537
Just try it out, it is not very expensive. As to dosage, well you'll have to work that out with your cat. They all seem to like the smell and taste of it. =)
It works on dogs as well, for e.g. fireworks night
My cat was almost 20 when she passed away in December. At some point she refused to eat canned food. I tired and tried and tired. I was making also food for her, but she wanted to eat dry food. It is kinda hard to argue with the cat:)
My cat is 19 and has a great appetite and hasn’t lost much weight except some back leg muscle mass.
Fresh water is essential. I have 3 bowls of filtered water and replace daily or more if I see food in them. I also add more water to their wet food. They love clean water. It is a must.
I cook for my kittys! They are in great shape!!!❤❤. Thanks for what you are posting
me too ... as a vegan I hate touching the meat and smelling the cooking I do in Instant Pot out in my shed, but I read the garbage that goes into commercial food and it is nauseating. I cannot cook all their meals but at least 50 or 60%.
And how they get calcium?
not certain I just started to wonder about the same thing they do eat buttered fresh cooked veggies like string beans, zucchini sweet potato and plain non fat yogurt, avocado I recently started to supplement their food with a vitamin mineral powder called Nutra Thrive it is very fine green powder they don't mind sprinkled on their food@@mischapiru9514

Jones. I trust you.
dr jones i hope there are sellers of your products in every countries.
I HAVE A 15 YR OLD CAT THAT THE NEIGHBORS ABANDONED! TOOK HER TO VET AND SHE HAD TO HAVE ALL HER TEETH PULLED. IV TRIED CANNED FOOD SHE THROWS IT UP. SHES BEEN ON PURINA KITTEN CHOW AND HAS BEEN FINE FOR 3 YRS NOW. THANKS ALWAYS!

So appreciative if this information! Thank you, Dr. Jones, for standing up for our precious cats & dogs!!! 😻🐶💖

Thank you Dr. Jones!
Our Manx cat lived to be 25 years of age ,she had a wonderful life,I still miss her.
Thanks for what you do ❤
Take care and GBY
My cat comes running over whenever she hears the glass pipette in the bottle opening so much for her silver squirt, that she'll do it for anything, in the hopes it's her stuff. She'll put her head up at an angle to the left, and just start licking her nose, as I squirt in a couple half filled droppers worth, at the corner of her mouth.
Have had cats since I could walk, and NEVER had a cat take to 'medicine' like that!! Pretty clear to me ..!
Please mention that you should purchase food grade Diatomaceous Earth and not the stuff sold at pool supply stores. Thanks for the good tips.
I so agree with you! I have 2 senior girls, 11 and 12. They never go outside. They have tons of toys and I give them canned food and water fountains. I stopped vet visits after the age of 10.I sleep with the 5 times a week. They are happy and healthy.
Thank you Dr. Jones. Much appreciated
Yes, those dead beings seem to do okay with vaccines 😂
Mine also love the crunchy bits.. but I try and give them as much wet food as possible…
@@sabinekoch3448 As I said in my comment, our cat won’t eat wet, period.
Same with my senior cat. She has wet food during the day but goes mad for her kibble at bed time so have to give her as a treat in a puzzle bowl.
Thanks!

My cat alliester is 20 he has kidney disease for many years and hyperthyroidism I pay extra for the medication flavor chews so I don’t have to force pull him. It’s great because you can also squish it and flatten it and add a creamy mousse to it and he eats it all up! He’s also on the vet cbd brand with the highest thc for pain anti inflammatory along with the standard process supplements for renal hepatic and immune
I also give him lysine and colostrum and some of the animal essentials for urin and heart health.

My cat is also pancreatitis. His diet is now raw cat food. I also give him daily vitamin B-complex and high quality fish oil.

My indoor kitty is 8 years old, she only had shots at 3 months when I had her spayed. She has been very healthy, eating well, and very active. I recently noticed her gums seem pale and she doesn’t like to drink water. I give her wet food only. I wanted to
take her to the vet, and so far 2 vet offices refuse to see her if I don’t update her shots, saying it’s state law. I don’t know what to do, I really need her to get checked but don’t want to start giving her a bunch of vaccines all of a sudden!
I recently lost my 23 year old kitty from kidney disease. I believe she lived that long because she also never had shots! Recently moved to Texas.
That’s stupid I have never heard of a vet turn someone away for not having their pets vaccinated.
love your videos. thank you! can you tell us the name of the propolis yo showed in your video?

Thank you for the video! Our cat is 14 now, and I hope he stays with us for a few more years
Thank you so much for this information. You are a saint!!

Excellent information 🌺 every word is valuable.
THAT was very helpful Dr Jones thank you.
