Real! This game, along with Kid Icarus Uprising and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, are prime examples I go to in order to show that the 3DS hardware isn't weak like people think. It's just that many devs didn't bother taking advantage of it.
I was secretly hoping that the game included Luigi’s Mansion 1 as an unlockable if you beat the game or something and Nintendo wanted to keep that a surprise. No new features or QoL improvements on a $40 game now being sold for $60 sucks.
I wish they'd have remade it with the LM3 engine and put more into it. Overall, Nintendo are getting more lazy, over time - they're making one big game, every 3-5 years and making the rest subpar or small. They used to have big hitters, consistently, and I have no idea what is going on. It's almost like they want more for less and this has been happening for most of the world's companies, since COVID.
Looks great but 30fps and a $60 price point is a deal breaker for me. I'll wait and see if the "Switch 2" ends up having backwards compatibility performance upgrades.
I'd love to see a comparison between LM3 and the LM2 remake, because it's a real shame how much worse the remake looks. Especially when you take into account that it was "only" a remake (or remaster or whatever it is) of an existing game, came out 5 years after LM3 and also costs the same.
I appreciate you doing the video at 4K despite the game only outputting at 1080P because it goes a long way towards getting around the compression issues of UA-cam and it really lets the visuals and art direction of the game shine.
Pretty sure that's the entire reason they upload at 4K. Most of their content is sub-4K, but it's important to upload at 4K 60 because YT bumps the bitrate up the higher the resolution and fps. They also have a website with all their stuff without YT compression, just huge raw files, if you really wanna pixel peep.
It supported surround sound too, via Dolby Pro Logic II. Most modern surround sound systems should still have a mode that supports this, though it may be called by a different name (since most matrix surround decoders are more or less backwards compatible with Pro Logic). The easiest way to check that it's working is if the thunder is coming from your rear speakers.
The 3ds was a beast and nobody can tell me otherwise. I spent thousands of hours on my 3ds. Between monster hunters, Pokémon’s, Smash Brothers, Kingdom Hearts, I had hundreds of hours in each. And then just all the bangers in between, Kid Icarus Uprising, DragonBall Fusions, Mario Kart, the Zelda remakes, all the great Kirby games, Shovel Knight. I mean the list literally goes on and on. Battery life for days, the Circle Pad Pro before the XL became a thing. I can’t even begin to guess how much time I actually spent with mine in my hands
I was thrilled when it came to 3DS but I agree I would love to see a Switch 2 remake, 4k HDR with new textures but keeping the creepiness of the original.
Just out of a perspective of curiosity (not complaining), I really wonder why this is 30fps and not 60fps. When you look at other games on switch that are 60fps, I don't really understand how this couldn't run at a solid 60, with the overall play space on screen usually being limited to just a single room with limited visibility.
For the price of $60 bucks? Yeah no. This game has no business being that expensive. It's not even 'Metroid Prime Remastered' (more of a complete remake in my opinion) level of quality graphical and performance conversion, and that game was only $40-50 bucks. However though, I am STILL glad that this game was even ported to the Switch with "some" noticeable improvements mostly to the number of polygons the characters got instead of a straight from the 3DS conversion job. Because I really so badly wanted to finish this game on my 3DS but never got around to finishing it. My Luigi's still stuck at the beginning of that old abandoned clocktower level on my red beat up N3DS XL to this day.
Quality of the Remake is nice. Really should have been bundled with the first to remotely justify that $60 price tag. Considering they already ported the first with updated assets to the Dark Moon engine for the 3ds port I don't think it would be too big of a hurdle. This seems like the kind of switch game that will go down to $30 for physical copies within a couple months. Will prolly pick it up then but no higher

Admittedly the 3D doesn't work on my eyes half as well now that I am an older adult rather than a kid, even with getting a New 3DS xl. But I will really miss it on this game even if I am in the minority. I love this game and the 3D looked great on it I wonder if I can try emulating this game on a digital screen in VR for a higher resolution 3D screen, but I don't know if that emulator is Meta only or if it also works on PC headsets or if it supports upscaling. Would be interesting to mess around with although you obviously wouldn't get the higher resolution textures
The limited spaces of Luigi's Mansion games have always helped push in graphics. Idk what you're talking about cause this game is still graphically impressive, for the Switch. Only issue is that 30fps cap. Wish Nintendo would focus more on 60 at this point, but maybe that'll be the Switch 2 (probably not)
Keep hoping we'll see the same treatment for Samus Returns as well! It wasn't amazing as far as Metroid games go, but it was good enough it deserves to not just die on the 3DS as a late release.
To be honest the price doesn't bother me, you can get it for halve that price if you know where to look. What bothers me is the fact they're remastering LM2 in the first place, it's just a bad game period. You don't really see people complaining about DKC returns HD and for the simple reason, it's a good game.
Even though it’s only 30fps I do t think that’s a big issue. Luigi’s Mansion is a slower paced game so I don’t feel like you’re loosing much from the lower fps.
The first game is my favorite Nintendo game of all-time. Would really love to be able to play it on the Switch, even just as a port. Still, glad the second game is getting some love! The visual improvements are very noticeable and it looks good. Will be nice to play it on a bigger screen now that it's on a console. Looking forward to it!

They really haven't though. It looks slightly better than the 3DS version and that's where the new additions start and end.
Excited to play it! Hope the first game gets remastered for Switch/Switch 2 as well 💚
Yup, I'm getting this day one, started replaying on my OG 3DS and it's such a good game.
4:47 Removed cuckoo animation
*SOULLESS*
why would they remake dark moon instead of the first one wtf
I still find it odd for such a litigious company as Nintendo to blatantly rip off so many aspects of Ghostbusters.
That is hilarious.
The company got its first big hit ripping off King Kong
@@NattiNekoMaid lol I forgot about DK, very true.
Nintendo is just port, port, remake, port, port, remake.
Cool, I will buy it 👍🏻👌🏻
Admittedly the 3D doesn't work on my eyes half as well now that I am an older adult rather than a kid, even with getting a New 3DS xl. But I will really miss it on this game even if I am in the minority. I love this game and the 3D looked great on it
I wonder if I can try emulating this game on a digital screen in VR for a higher resolution 3D screen, but I don't know if that emulator is Meta only or if it also works on PC headsets or if it supports upscaling. Would be interesting to mess around with although you obviously wouldn't get the higher resolution textures
How the f*ck is this STILL 30fps?
Bro you can just emulate this... I ain't wasting my money on this that's for sure
They need to remastered Super Mario 3D Land.
I just wish this game had better lighting, because that's the only thing that makes it look like a ps3 game
30fps in 2024? Come on, Nintendo.
Do miss Luigi's nervous humming of the theme tune!
One of the best examples of aesthetics vs graphics I've ever seen. It looks gorgeous.
The limited spaces of Luigi's Mansion games have always helped push in graphics. Idk what you're talking about cause this game is still graphically impressive, for the Switch. Only issue is that 30fps cap. Wish Nintendo would focus more on 60 at this point, but maybe that'll be the Switch 2 (probably not)
5:00 Geometry is massively different.
Keep hoping we'll see the same treatment for Samus Returns as well! It wasn't amazing as far as Metroid games go, but it was good enough it deserves to not just die on the 3DS as a late release.
You definitely deserve more recognition for this!
ofc, no question about it
To be honest the price doesn't bother me, you can get it for halve that price if you know where to look. What bothers me is the fact they're remastering LM2 in the first place, it's just a bad game period. You don't really see people complaining about DKC returns HD and for the simple reason, it's a good game.
We need that 1st game, even if it just gets ported to some gamecube online, we need it. (Though I'd love a Remaster/remake)
So is this game a remake or a remaster?
Even though it’s only 30fps I do t think that’s a big issue. Luigi’s Mansion is a slower paced game so I don’t feel like you’re loosing much from the lower fps.
How’s about a Luigi’s Mansion 4K (remaster of the original) Switch 2 launch title… I’m down for that
Nintendo can do 4k only on emulators.
NOT A REMAKE! The game was ORIGINALY MADE in HD on 3DS! This is a simple, quick EXPORT to HD. They are cash grabbing u with this. Thousand Year Door. Donkey Kong COuntry Returns. Samus Returns 3DS (soon to be announced in HD!). You people fall for this cash grab every time! Take them a few hours to export this. a few hours to button map. Jesus people.
I really liked this on the 3DS, completed it. I don’t know about the remaster, as I didn’t finish Luigi’s Mansion 3, didn’t think it was that good.
The price is crazy, compare that to the recent Monster Hunter Stories port from 3DS to console and PC, priced at $30.
10:30 they forgot what bass is
