As a Catholic, I'm envious of all the gorgeous Bible options that Protestants have to pick from. We just don't get many nice Catholic options like this with the deuterocanon included.
That Humble Lamb edition is amazing. I also really like the Jerusalem Cross design on the Schuyler covers.
Allan's NASB R1 would be my goto. The layout is by far my favorite and seems to be easier on my eyes in reading it!
Agreed
The Allan NASB 1995 is hands down the best! Love the vbv layout, centre column references with vertical lines just looks miles better than the 2020 LPut in paragraph and no vertical lines. Allan makes the most beautiful bibles. ❤
My primary Bible is the wide margin NASB 95 from Cambridge in black goatskin. One of the first gifts my wife ever bought me. Love it.
The Lamb HIStory book is beautiful to look at and you can't compare it with the others it is so different.
I like the clean look of two columns with references at the bottom and red accents 😊
I went with the brand new Lockman goatskin 95. I love it. You can preach from it and all the references are there and it’s not crowded. It is my number one. It’s beautiful. My true preference would have been to do the old single column reference, but just bold the translators notes I think that would’ve been the ultimate.
Wow!! When I first started in-depth Bible study (before you were born) the NASB was my translation of choice. I love this version, even though I haven’t used it for study in awhile. ❤
The NASB is one of my go-to translations. I think it deserves more recognition. I wish they made more paragraph format editions.
The 95 (20 has some unnecessary changes and like 95s more exact words) Schuyler Quentel is my favorite. Love the references on the bottom (out of the way and clean look) and like the reading and classic style of a double column. I’d like to see more verity of different colored gilds in the future as opposed to the dominant red under gold you always see more of. The Blue under silvers are beautiful
im a huge fan of the thinest one there, a Holman large print thinline Bible, absolutely beautiful ✝💞🙏 Hallelujah thank You Jesus Christ our Holy Lord GOD Almighty ✝🤲 GOD bless you guys, have an amazingly blessed day
Thank you for not using that atrocious word “Naz Bee”. I have a Cambridge leather edition that came out just after the 1995 revision. (I have no idea what series it is. I didn’t even know they had different series until I started watching your videos.)
Literally just ordered an RL Allan NASB reference today (black goatskin; red under gold. I’m a sucker for black goatskin and much prefer red to blue under the gilt…easier on my eyes). I wanted the 1995 translation also. However, I’m still wishing I’d waited to see this video first. 😂
I think those just sold out on the Allan site!
Great video, I do wish that they would make some more NASB premium mid sized editions. That 5x8 dimension is the sweet spot for Bibles.
Totally agree
My favorite NASB is the Clarion Reference edition by Cambridge. I love it for its readability and portability. I bought three Clarion reference Bibles (ESV, NIV, and NASB) because of the way they feel in my hands.
I agree with you. Several years ago, I decided to read the Bible from Genesis 1 through Revelation 22 and picked the NASB95; a translation I hadn't read before. So I purchased a Cambridge Clarion in brown calfskin and it was one of the most enjoyable reading experiences I've had.
Recently I acquired a Humble Lamb HIStory NASB2020 and new Cambridge NASB2020 Topaz. I look forward to comparing the 2020 version with the 1995 version right after I finish reading the Apocrypha. Thanks for the excellent comparison, Tim. I'd like to see more of these comparisons from you.
Another great video Tim, thank you! I have the Cambridge Clarion in NASB for a compact size, and then the Schuyler Quentel Wide Margin just because something made me go big (it’s beautiful). I WISH there was a mid-size (bigger H x W dimensions and slightly thinner, little less chunky) version of the Clarion. I personally love the single column paragraph and there aren’t many versions like that in NASB 95.
I just purchased a wide margin NASB from Zondervan. Double column format. 1995 text in navy calfskin. Its really nice! I didnt see this one on your video.
I like the Cambridge Topaz and Clarion. I have the Humble Lamb and it is awesome.
For Myself I LOVE the Humble Lamb HIStory. Great Video Tim! I needed to see this as my son in law wants a compact premium 2020 NASB and I wasn't sure what was available. Thank you!
Right on!
Allan Reader for study, Clarion for carry.
with as small as the print size is in the Pitt Minion ( i know because i have one, also in NASB by the way ), i think with each Pitt Minion sold, they should include a complimentary magnifying glass to help people read it easier
The NASBy has been my favorite since 1998. We've had the NASB for 25 years before it received an update in 2020. The New Living Translation, however, first published in 1996, has since been revised in 2004, and then small revisions in 2007, and then more smaller revisions in 2013, and then a larger revision in 2015. I wonder if publishers get frustrated and just give up on publishing a translation that goes through so many revisions (even the NLT logo has been updated at least two more times since 1996). Even the 2017 CSB, which is really a revision of the 2004 HCSB (which was revised in 2009), has been revised yet again in 2020. I wonder if all the revisions exhaust publishers. As always--awesome video!!! This is one of my favorite videos.
I can only choose one of those Bibles: I loved the Zondervan Side-Column Reference. I went back and forth between that one and the Cambridge Clarion but landed on Zondervan.
What a luxury to have all these options for the NASB!
You’re missing the Steadfast NASB Compact (not LPC). 😇
Steadfast also did premium 1995 editions of the Lockman Giant Print, the 25th Anniversary Lockman SCR, and the legendary original Preacher’s Bible, but these are sadly OOP.
Also OOP are the Allan SCRs in Highland goatskin. I’d love to have one in the new SCR format, but it’s hard to image that coming to fruition with Lockman’s Prime series on the market.
The first edition of the Steadfast Preacher’s Bible-Handy Size by RJ is perhaps the finest NASB ever produced. The current Korean prints are good but not as luxurious.
WOW I didn’t even realize there are so many NASB Premiums
My choice is the Allan. Would be thrilled to see you do this with KJV. Good job!
It’s got to be the 2020 edition so I’m going with the Lockman Prime Reference Bible. I’ve got it in the faux leather and I love the layout and the extras that Lockman gives you in the back!
I’m not an NASB guy, but I would love the steadfast preachers Bible. The original one that was HUGE! But I don’t think they make it anymore so I’d go with one of the SCR from lockman or zondervan
Recently picked up the Zondervan preachers Bible in NASB...very nice. You would not be disappointed.
HIStory, Humble Lamb. I love the size, the Dore art, and the drop caps!
Excellent review of the NASB Bibles ! Good stuff Tim !
Thank you kindly!
I wonder if the reason that the NASB is given the premium treatment by more publishers is that even though the NLT sells more over all, those who use the NASB are more likely to purchase premium editions. Teens and college students may use the NLT more than the NASB, but they can't afford the premium editions.
I think that’s definitely part of it.
I’m not even an NASB fan, but those thinlines from Zomdervan and Holman look pretty great. ✌️🤓
If steadfast/316pub would make a reference edition of the handy size that would be my one. Since they don’t I’m going with Allan for the notebook paper. I need zondervan to make a midsize single column vbv reference in comfort print wrapped in Schuyler’s black pearl calfskin. That’s all I need.
I think the version I basically memorized was a 1977 version so it was somewhat like King James except it's grammatically correct. It's around here somewhere but I have NKJ, HCSB, and another newer NAS open. In the den.. hahaha.. there's a NIV, a God's Word Translation, a New Century (which I'd recommend for those who have trouble understanding what they're reading), and maybe the old 1977 NAS plus another NKJ in large print... plus a NLT and a KJ NT.
I would choose the Humble Lamb from this lot simply for the esthetics of it.
Personally, I have the NASB95 Passaggio Setting Bible from Zondervan. ALL blue letter with single column prose and double column poetry. Blue water-buffalo cover and blue under gold guilding. It's super soft and lays flat from Genesis 1 - Revelation 22!
I would take the Allan Premium NASB Bible. I like the center column references!🦬🌲🌲
These are some beautiful bibles! I’ve not seen the Word of God Bible before.
My answer to your question is, the one I would choose is the Humble Lamb edition, just because I like what HL does and how they do it, but these you've shown are all beautiful. I would love to see this many options for every version and translation, from premium to value editions. You should consider doing one of these for KJV, NKJV, ESV & CSB, at least for currently available editions.
Another very thorough and very cool presentation. Thanks and God Bless you, Sir.
If I had to pick one - the Allan reader!
Thank you very much Tim, I would love to have a history or a culture, bible, from what you showed it would be the Humble Lamb as it is the history version. But… at the top of my list is to have an Allan premium Long Primer as I have my Mothers - Grandfathers Long Primer - Oxford Self Pronouncing Teachers Edition in King James dated 1901, its in fairly good shape and a real treat to own.
Whoa, I was so surprised by the shout out! Thank you, Tim! Awesome!
Great video idea!
I almost passed on this video because I can't afford Premium Bibles. However, my years of shopping experience have taught me that often times, publishers will also do lesser expensive Bibles using the Premium block but wrapping it up in a faux leather, and even, occasionally, hard cover, though somewhat rare. I need to watch this video again because you flew by them all rather quickly. I know what I want so watching this video again, pausing where necessary, should hopefully steer me toward the one I want. :)
Is that the Allan NASB
in "Payroll Blue" I see?
Yea, I think it's he,
at the bottom of stack three!
I like the Lockman NASB Side-Column Reference Bible, but my FAVORITE is the MacArthur NASB Study Bible (Zondervan), but I CANNOT FIND IT ANYWHERE!!!! Can you help me find it on the web? I've Googled it every way I know how...!
NASB Heritage Bible, Passaggio Setting Buffalo Leather by Zondervan *Until Adrian sends me my rebind of my NASB Large Print Thinline
If only one, I would choose the Zondervan. The Allan R1 is a close second.
I would go for either a Lockman or the Holman handcrafted. They all look great though. Cool video.
Great video Tim 👌
Thanks 👍
a video idea i had: it would be cool if, at the start of each video, you opened with a Verse of the Day from the Bible. you could either read it out loud or, pick a verse from the bible and put it up on the screen before you start each intro. what do you think?
Super cool video. You should do a similar ESV when the new Schuyler Quantel comes out.
Good idea!
i have that Topaz bible but, mine is in ESV and i Love the Topaz a lot.
You just can't beat the Humble Lamb NASB. The colored drop caps, the words of Christ in blue, the illustrations by Gustav Dore. I wish Daniel would make that same bible with a larger font for these old eyes....
I love my NASB 2020 Schuyler Stridon in Marbled Mahogany
I love mine too, but in black pearl. So lovely to read.
I would like the Humble Lamb. I love the picture on the gilt edge.
The one i would pick isnt in your video, yet. Itd be the Holman Personal Size Single Column Handcrafted NASB 2020
two premium NASB bibles that i got from Evangelical Bible are the NASB Readers Edition in the " Spider-Man " colors, in Silver Line edition. And, i got the NASB Stridon in Black Pearl Calfskin. i love both of those bibles. P.S. the Red NASB i got is the first ever R.L. Allan bible i've ever had and, most definitely, the most expensive bible i've ever bought.
Dear Tim, can you please do an unboxing/review of the new NASB WIDE MARGIN by Zondervan that was released a couple days ago? ❤
I just ordered it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤@@timwildsmith
Do you know if zondervan is doing a csb of the Thompson chain reference bible?
I doubt it.
Let’s Goooooooo!!!!!!!!
very cool! i definitely plan on buying one soon
Go for it!
There’s a new release of the NASB that I have been eyeing - the NASB Wide Margin in navy goatskin from Zondervan. Would love to hear your thoughts on that Bible!
Review coming soon!
cant wait!!!!
Do you have a review for premium King James and New King James Bibles? If you don’t, can you please make one?
I have reviewed tons of premium KJV and NKJV Bibles. If you search my channel, you'll find them.
I cannot for the life of me find the MacArthur Study Bible (Zondervan) that he references @ 17:53. Can anyone help??
NOW YA TALKIN ! Ty 😃
For me the RL Allan NASB or the Topaz
Actually you forgot one other publisher to make it 9 and that is AMG publishers who still make the excellent Hebrew Greek Keyword Study Bible in Genuine Leather and Goatskin Leather which I have. You know us NASB fanatics are on par right. lol I have been loving and reading the NASB since I got saved 35 yrs ago in 1989 when it was only the 1977 edition back then and it is always always my go to bible especially now with the 1995 edition. Being that I am a Messianic Believer, so of course I also read the Messianic translations Tree of Life Version and the Complete Jewish Study Bible as well. Shalom ✡️🕎🇮🇱
Was it me? No inside column refs? Interesting!!! Just putting it out there.
Zondervan’s Journal the Word wide margin is an ICR, but there is no premium edition.
Is the Cambridge Clarion a 1995?
Yep!
Would you do a video like this for the KJV?
Good idea!
Why do we need that many NASB Bibles? Why do we need that many Bible publishers?
Please can you provide me one of this translation of Bible.
I wish you had told me which ones were red letter
I believe the topaz is the only red letter.
Is the History NASB 1995 or 2020?
2020
Lockman Reference (2020)
If I had to choose one it would be the Quentel. I have an ESV Quentel so Schuyler has proven their quality for me. (Plus it would look great stacked with my ESV). 😂
can you give me one i don,t have any bible
Can you spare one for me? 😂
If you ever give that Allan away….my address is…
Sure wish they had a '77. Oh well. I won't be buying any of these.
Great Bibles and Video Tim!🦬🌲🌲
Thanks so much!
