I would only rebind my Bibles if the covers were falling off. And I love cheap little compact Bibles. I don't see the draw for $200 Bibles, they're really beautiful, but honestly, my favorite Bible is the Evidence Bible my husband bought me for our 10th anniversary! He worked so hard and saved money to buy me the pink one with my name on it 😍💕✨️✝️ it has the best commentary, all focused on evangelism. I love it! ❤ Best gift ever from the best husband ever!
The Sovereign series from Thomas Nelson in KJV and NKJV are great candidates for rebinds as well, elegant drop cap design with the leather soft options being very affordable.
I hope more people enter the rebind market. The waitlists are so long for many of them. Also I hope someone finds a way to do the gold edges. That would really put a lot more candidates on the table that are cheaper but have good paper.
Chris Evans on right now and see if good luck with it like that day is be back in my life just me that you people would like me look out now if we go back next week we will talk tomorrow morning wow that is good news
Really enjoyed this Tim. Thanks so much for doing it. You are so spoilt for choice with Bible rebinders in the U.S., I wish I knew of some in the U.K. that could do rebinding work as good as those you have
Hot tip for anyone looking to rebind that NLT Filament bible. The hardcover and fancy color versions all have plain paper edges. No gilding at all. The black leather-like has gold. If you want gilding then you need that exact version OR you can pay to have someone do something on the sides but it looks like there are few options to have that done (unless you want speckled).
I’ve been wanting to learn how to rebind Bibles and have been looking for affordable Bibles to practice on. This video is really helpful! I’m going to get these Bibles to practice rebinding on!
The lsb sola hard back would be a great rebind. It’s I think around 60 bucks. And it has premium text block from royal yb, and bf ribbons. The hard back alone is a beautiful look alone but if you want good paper. Get this lsb.
I have the new Center-column ref in genuine leather but feel that maybe the paper and font size make it not so great for the big investment. Heard a few opinions that mirror this haha. Really grown to love the NLT though so would deffo love to rebind one. Thanks for the suggestions :)@@sylviafriessen9124
The only Bibles with print big enough I can read or giant print and super giant print and those don't come in premium so those are the ones that I remind lol
Hi a testimonie in 2004 a started to use glasses to se and my left eye was very bad and i had to set of glasses, yesterday i ahve delivered my glasses back they where leased, i have prayed over my eyes and made confessions over my eyes but also forced my eyes to read smaller letters, and they are much better so i give glory to God the Father in Jesus name, who is the healer acording to scripture after what Jesus said, Amen.
The ESV wide margin reference trutone would be a great rebind. The paper is excellent. I've had mine for 6 years. The cover is starting to flake, so I'm going to be rebinding it myself, very soon.
Thank you Tim, a really good video! I guess it's all relevant to preference. I was a bit disappointed after seeing a Tim N video where he stated if you find a brand new rebinder you could possibly get a rebind for as little as $200. Again budget & what's valuable to you in the Word is where you would be able or willing to spend. Saving up for awhile for the nrsv goat skin which is very affordable for some is my only kind of premium Bible. I'd rather have my favorite translation, text block & font size though leathersoft and then be able to share Bibles with others. Just me. I've been able to enjoy your recommendations in the synthetic materials. Rebinders craft is definitely worth it with what it takes to create what they do. I didn't realize the cost. Yes, sorry I know to many that's affordable. Thank you for another great review.
I am looking to rebind an older NASB LPUT. I bought it from lock man as an imperfect and it has some binding issues but the hands down best paper I have ever seen.
Hi Tim, Love all the hard work you do. Fast question that is a bit off topic. We're looking for a compact ESV double column bible hard cover for our daughter when she's traveling on missionary trips. Finding a bible with her requests has been difficult to find. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Keep up all the hard work, God Bless you and your family. Thank you
@@timwildsmith - thanks for the response! could ya tell me a bit more why? and do ya think it wouldn't work out well? I have a hardback ESV Study Bible and would love to have it in an amazing leather cover
I use a couple versions of a KJV from LCBP (Local Church Bible Publishers), both bound in ironed calfskin. I'm always curious how many others have a Bible like mine, and if it will ever need a rebind, but no one seems to know about them 😂 I didn't even know about rebinding until this year! The idea is so interesting (and tempting) though!
I just picked up an NASB 2020 from lochman that's the giant print I'm going to have that one rebound in the next few months. I don't know what kind of paper it has but it is line matched and it seems to be pretty decent paper now I just got to figure out what kind of cover I want on it
For anyone who is looking for a text with the Deuterocanon/Apocrypha: I have had the SPCK ESV with Apocrypha done by a few rebinders. It is the same typesetting as the Cornerstone edition by Cambridge. If you can find a copy of the Oxford 50th Anniversary Edition of the RSV, that’s another great one I have had a few rebinders do their thing to. The New Cambridge Paragraph Bible is great. There is a hardback that is not too expensive. The Nelson KJV vbv with Apocrypha that came out recently is also great. There are leathersoft and hardback versions. The Catholic Bible Press-Harper Collins Catholic line-has a few NRSV and NABRE editions. Regina Press has a great note takers edition of the RSV 2CE in hardback and imitation leather. The Ignatius Press RSV 2CE is great. Agustine Intstitute has a coupe of great ESV-CE editions similar to the crossway thinline If you are okay with squared pages the Anglican House Publishers ESV with Apocrypha is also great.
Great picks. Though in my experience, the csb thinline has some pretty poor paper. I’m not sure if it’s different for some reason, but I have the genuine leather version and the paper is pretty rough. It’s not opaque at all, and it gets distracting. I know Holman doesn’t do the best in terms of consistency, look at the handcrafted collection. Tim Nickels did a video on how the goatskin on all of those is all over the place. So maybe my csb genuine leather thinline has worse paper than the csb synthetic leather? I wouldn’t doubt it. But yeah still trying to find a really good paper option for the csb that isn’t premium
I have a family Bible from the late 1800’s and, of course, it’s falling apart. Can something like that be rebound? It’s in a ziplock bag now. But I’d love to fix it up.
Hey Tim, I’m pondering getting a ESV thinline, or personal reference Bible, rebound. But the only thing for me is the paper. Do you know if the Genuine leather (or full grain/buffalo) edition of the thinline have better paper quality?
I've been looking forward to this one, and it's just as cool as I knew it would be. Tim, I'm looking to get an economy VBV NKJV with end-of-verse references for a premium rebind for my son. I see that TN's goatskin premium has 36 gsm European paper in the description, which I'd love to have for the text block. Do you know about the paper in the leathersoft edition, if it's comparable? He loves his Maclaren VBV, but wants references and notes separated. If I need to spend the money for good paper, I will, but I'd have more money left to spoil his daughter with if I can get by with the leathersoft. I'd appreciate your advice. God bless you, Sir.
That is what I thought re the Bible paper. Thanks for the quick reply, Tim. After a long talk with God, I am putting my son, Jim's rebind on hold, for now, so I can afford to bless the rest of la familia with premium editions. I'm gonna get Jim the end-of-verse premier edition in brown goatskin with that great paper. As he continues to get more involved in the youth ministry at his church, he deserves a really nice Bible that he's comfortable with as he preaches and teaches. It's on sale right now for over half off, so I can add the leather edition of his wife Ali's fave, the Maclaren blue letter, for less than the list price of Jim's end-of-verse. Add to that the marbled burgundy calfskin CSB on preorder (now due 5/1/24) for my wife and BibleQuest 2024 is now progressing very nicely. That's 3 down, 2 to go, those being my other son, Sam, and his wife, Kenzie, who is now pregnant with grandson Sol's sibling, due 9/324. Cannot wait! My Dad was right when he said, "There are 2 kinds of rich people in the world, son: those who have lots of money, and those who have no need." Quite content being in the latter group with my old pal, George Bailey, as my Dad also used to say. I thank God daily that there are men of God like you on this ungodly venue you are using as part of your ministry to God's kids. May God continue to bless you richly, my good man, my brother.
I actually have a Thomas Nelson wide margin NKJV sitting in my wardrobe. I got it for an absolute steal. I did not get it rebound. It's an original goatskin cover. This thing is so floppy it's unreal. I bought it with the intention of it to a young family before the Lord calls me home.
I just recently discovered your channel Tim. I really enjoy your reviews. I know nothing about Bible rebinding. What does it mean? I have a genuine leather Bible that is falling apart (some pages are barely connected to the spine and the Bible itself is detaching from the leather binding) and I want to extend its life. I’ve had this one for 33 years now. Would re-binding restore this? Thanks.
Welcome! I’d encouraged you to check out my video of a Bible rebind I had done by Andrew at AA Leather. He can restore old Bibles! ua-cam.com/video/BtEOjMGlIeE/v-deo.html
Hey Tim! I saw Evangelical bible was coming out with a prussian blue in a KJV personal size of the Canterbury. I'm just afraid after looking at the pictures that it's going to be more of a suede than what other leathers i've seen on bibles and how it would hold up over time?
Check out my review of the ESV Heritages to get a closer look at the Prussian Blue: ua-cam.com/video/_V_7GZqnYnA/v-deo.html (I think it will hold up well!)
When I watched the release of this video, I couldn't catch what I wanted, and now going back in I can see why: when you review the NRSV, all you say is "they" instead of a publisher. Please, please clarify which publisher is "they!" 😢

Absolutely love the NKJV single column wide margin layout! I've never had a rebind, but if I do, it will def be that text block.

I’m confused. Why would someone rebind a new premium Bible? Isn’t the binding already good?
Agreed.
Maybe they want a custom binding that isn't available stock? I dunno, I haven't ventured into rebinding yet.
I see it all the time.
i think so they have a cover design they want
