I watch this channel routinely, and this recipe showed up on my feed. It looked right up my alley, so I took a stab at it. Here's my version, which I've made a few tweaks to. They are DELICIOUS! 😋
========================================
BEAN BURGERS IN A FLASH
Servings: 17 burgers (using a 1/2-cup measuring cup to form patties)
Total time: 1 hour and 35 minutes (from the time you step foot into your kitchen, to all the prep and baking, until it is completely done)
INGREDIENTS
-- 4 (15 oz.) cans of black beans (no oil) (drain and rinse)
-- 2 cups uncooked organic oats
-- 8 TBS. ground flax
-- 1 large red onion (very finely diced)
-- 1 bunch kale (remove big stems -- very, very finely dice leaves)
-- 4 TBS. chili powder
-- 4 TBS. garlic powder
-- 1 TBS. ground turmeric
-- 1 TBS. ground black pepper
-- 12 TBS. chunky-type salsa (no oil, lowest sodium you can find)
-- BBQ sauce (no oil, lowest sodium you can find)
-- 3 (6 packs) of "Ezekiel" brand English muffins (these are vegan and no oil)
-- 2 (8 oz.) bags of shredded red cabbage
-- Fresh tomatoes
-- Your favorite condiments (I used nutritional yeast flakes, organic ketchup, organic yellow mustard -- and also added sliced tomatoes and topped with some of the red cabbage)
INSTRUCTIONS
1) In a medium-large-sized pot, add the black beans, and mash by hand. Some lumps are perfectly fine.
2) Add the oats, ground flax, onions, kale, chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, turmeric, black pepper, and salsa. Mix as thoroughly as possible, using your hands. You will get messy.
3) In a pre-heated oven on 500-degrees Fahrenheit, and on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, form the patties using a 1/2-cup measuring cup. They don't have to be perfectly leveled in the measuring cup; a little more is fine.
4) Bake for 15 minutes.
5) Turn the patties over, and spread some BBQ sauce on the tops.
6) Return to the oven, and bake for an additional 15 minutes (this should give you a burger the texture of meat loaf. If you prefer your burgers more "stiff," then bake them longer. Up to you.)
7) Make your burgers with all the fixings. (For me, two burgers with the works are filling.)
Thank you so much. Helpful!
I love how quickly this recipe comes together. I let the patties sit in the fridge for a while to set up. They stayed together in the pan really well.
I made these last night! Had all of the ingredients on hand (although I only had red onions so that is what I used). They were so easy to make and tasted fantastic!
I am so sorry if this sounds weird but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be friends
Not weird at all MikeRoss.

I just received my Plant Based Warrior cookbook in the mail the other day and so many good recipes in it. I can’t wait to start trying them👍If you slightly mash the black beans with a fork they stick better!
I just love y’all!!! I’m 8 months into my plant based journey! And I am so glad to have discovered y’all along the way! I love love love watching your videos for recipe inspiration! ❤
Hi Jane & Ann you are definitely the poster personalities of good WFPB cooking & Eating!
Academy award nominations are long over due.
Have made the Warrior burgers, & this is next on the list.
❤ Denise, from Dublin Ireland
Thank you. I'm 3 years plant strong. The Dr said I needed heart meds. I decided to follow your plant way of living. So far so good ❤
I remember some of the very early videos of these two and how Ann was so quiet and shy...didn't know how to react on camera. Suffice it to say she's come out of her shell! LOL Oh, and I love the "inside out" burger description...Yum!
I love this cookbook! I own copies of all the Esselstyn books! Thank you for all you’re doing. ❤️
I can't believe how long it took me to buy it. This is the first cookbook where I think I am going to make every single recipe! I made this recipe recently and can't wait to make it again!
I’m 41 and my mom is 71, we love watching you gals. Thank you for this video! Looks amazing!!😊
@Mrsfozz. I feel Jane is being disrespectful calling her mother by her first name, no matter how cute she "thinks" that it is. It's not it's a turn off.
Oh man... I love the new the Warrior cookbook (got the spiral bound and it was worth it!) and these burgers are awesome. I love the spices and ratios in this burger. We ate them for dinner and put BBQ sauce/red onion/tomato/spinach on them, but the next day, I just spread a bit of mashed avo onion/tomato/spinach and I was so glad, because it allowed me to really taste the burger... SO GOOD!! It doesn't taste like the run-of-the-mill black bean burger. I highly recommend it. :)
I am completely binge watching your videos right now! Food looks amazing! I’ve been WFPB for a while, but lifting the bar to plant pure, and I get such inspiration from you! Also, I lost my mom a couple of years ago, and the rapport that you share fills my heart with wonderful memories of my own mom!
OMG, Recently found you ladies. I made these last night. I also got your book on Kindle last night (I didn't want to wait to read the recipes) and now have ordered the spiral bound so I can read it through! :)😊😊
Thank you for the lovely recipe!!
Thanks. It’s a winner! Made it twice now. Appreciate your videos from SoCal US.
Made your burgers today, minced the onion more finely and minced cabbage as I had no kale. Very tasty.
I LOVE onions either raw or cooked- red onions my fave
Looks good!! I own your woman warrior book and will make these. Store bought veggie burgers are so greasy and salty! Thanks!! Love you gals!
I use beans and oatmeal all the time. I find cooking them in my on the counter convection over works great and they don't fall apart. Yummy
I am so sorry if this sounds weird but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be friends
Omg those look so good!!!
So I made the more complicated plant based woman warrior burgers for my son and gf when they came to visit and we loved them. It takes awhile to make for sure but it’s worth it! Can’t wait to try these too. You guys make my heart happy! 😊
I just got the book! I am LOVING IT!!! Thank you so VERY much for all your helpful videos! For someone new to WFPB it is very appreciated! Can I request you consider doing a video of quick dinners for a busy working (single) mom like myself? I really appreciate those quick-come-together meals that don't require an instant pot because I don't have one! I do batch cook on the weekends but by Wednesday Thursday Friday nights I need something quick, healthy and easy! :) Thank you both soooo much!!!
lm making this again today for me, me and only me again...because they are so delish.....thanks lady...and with no buns....well, maybe 1....❤
Those look so delicious! I'm definitely going to order that cookbook, and being spiral bound is so handy.
Gorgeous, Nisha! Thank you so much for these breakfast recipes 🎉🌸
That looks so good!❤
Love you both. (And the rest of the family too)You are so inspiring. Keep cooking. ❤
So delicious looking. It is in a flash and I love with no bun. You girls are awesome and life savers!
lm going to make this today.....extra onions is ok Ann. Your camera man Wade is a lucky guy.....he always gets 1st bite. You 2 gals are the best ❤
I made these the other day, I used sweetcorn instead of greens, and I didn't have salsa so I used chutney. They were yummy. Thankyou 😊
I am so sorry if this sounds weird but you wrote such a nice and wonderful comment on here and I like your comment. I can tell you're a very positive person. If it's okay with you I'd love to be friends
No such thing as too much onion!!! LOL They look yummy!
@flattlandermontgomery1574. Yes there is!! Unless they're sweet onions the recipe can be overpowering
These look really good!
I can’t wait to try these! You or cookbook is fantastic!
Hi great video! Delicious looking burgers 🍔 thanks for sharing 👍 cooking them on the stove keeps them moist then baking them in the oven
Yum, the best way to make sure your veggie burger has no added oil or salt, make them yourself! I will make these for lunch today!
🌱🕊💚Looks yummy! 🙌🙌Ann, I adore onions too! Munching on Raw purple onion, in your honor, w/ my supper as I watch this.
Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to look up the recipe and make it. Happy healthy eating🪴🥗😋🥒
Those look SO good, and easy. I have read that if you add a small amount of mashed up (regular) pasta in a veggie burger mix it helps it stay together. 👍🏻

I had leftovers and crumbled them into WFPB Big Mac bowl. It was so delicious I plan to make it again soon. I prefer to really brown them, not burn, but crisp it up really brown.
Made these the other day- I loved them.

What bun/bread do you use?
You could have cooked the extra onion in the center of the skillet and put it on top after cooking. 🤷♀️😂❤Looks fantastic!

These are good burgers. I make them every month
Yummy 😋 Yum
I think some hummus would of helped that to bind. What a great burger ladies 🥰
Would it be ok to put all the ingredients in a food processor to make the texture a bit more smoother?
Ann & Jane, I just received my copy of Plant Based Woman Warrior this past week in the mail. It was neat being able to follow along as I watched & listened to you. btw, Aldi has a nice Medium (spicy) salsa that's inexpensive and yummy. They also have a Mild but I've never tried it. I also soak & cook my beans from scratch so would probably pulse them briefly in a food processor to "pre-mush" them a little (please note the technical term).

This looks delicious. Has anyone made this by cooking the onions first before putting them in a Patty?
My husband who is a meat eater ate 2 bean burgers and my son said they maybe better than regular burgers!
I just made these very easy to make. Stay together well. I have one question? Is the texture soft and wet like or should I have cooked them longer? Otherwise I thought they were pretty good. Thank you for helping me to eat better. And Anne the green make it wonderful.
This was fast! Wow! I bet the extra onion was so good. I am a wimp so nothing spicy! Wendy🇺🇸🙏🏻
Hi could I use flaxpowder instead of flaxseeds? I always ground my flaxseeds, chia seeds, and hemp seeds.

Haha when they truly do burn their goodies, and poor Wade knows they want to share with him. 😄 ❤
Think of this burger as more of a delicious lentil (meat) loaf sandwich. Add a little plant mayo for the full effect. It looks great!
Awesome video. That's how to make a healthy burger. ❤❤ I don't think I'll ever be able to make those by myself though. Not as easy as it seems, is it??
Give a go
Im thinking this would make a good loaf? yummy This would go great with Well Your World bBQ sauce or their ketchup!
Which buns did y’all use?
Hi from Australia ❤❤ these look amazing but I can’t eat grains, do you have a suggestion for a substitute please??
They have a version with sweet potatoe I believe

Mushrooms would go well with the bean burger to.
What is that bun? Looks delicious! Name/brand please! Thanks!
This is what it looks like when I make burgers. 😂 And yes they still taste good!
You look like sisters ❤
do you sell a salsa without oil and without salt that is not hot? or do you know where I can buy this?
Still looks yummy
Ann and Jane, love your videos! You are so fun! These quick burgers sound great! 1 question: are FLAX seeds whole or ground? ❤️
Always use ground flax seeds. They will be more bioavailable for great nutrition. We eat it daily in our oatmeal (chia seeds and walnuts too). 3 Tbsp spoons of water to 1 Tbsp flax meal is an egg replacement for binding when baking too.
What brand of BBQ sauce do you use?!
What kind of burger bun did you ladies use?
Yummy
If they fell apart do you think it would be ok to just mix it up like ground beef and add the bbq sauce and make a sloppy Joe??
Please please suggest alternatives to oats in your recipes for those of us who are allergic.
🎉🎉❤❤
❤
Hi could I bake this bean burgers instead of frying them? how long would I bake them for at 350 degrees?
30-40 min. Twenty and then flip
Ann has the strongest hands!

What kind of buns do you use? SOS-FREE?
I started making burgers with 1 Zuchini, corn or a bell pepper, onion,
Sweet potato, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs... mix it all and shape into patties. Cook with olive oil. I cannot eat beans.. so this recipe really helped me.
Oh I forgot 1 cup of wild rice. And any seasoning you want to put in it.
Thanks. no recipe link.?
No link…it’s from their cookbook instead…..
So we ate them with a spoon!
Are the greens pre cooked or raw ?
She said she cooked kale for a minute. And she was draining water out of it.
Given that you said a tablespoon for a teaspoon with the BBQ sauce, I’m wondering if your “tablespoon” of curry powder was right. Seems a lot. Thanks for this fantastic recipe.
No curry powder, but a tablespoon of chili powder is what I heard. If that sounds like too much for your taste, put in less or none; it’s intended only for flavoring I think.
Try True Made Ketchup no sugar made 100% from veggies

Can't have too many onions!

Looks very good, you should call them Magic Burgers. Is it possible to a be a Plant Based Man-Warrior. Or is it a women only thing.
You forgot the jalapenos! 😁
Mashing some of the beans helps to stick better, also grind the flaxseed so that it will absorb the moisture. Burgers are better with chapped dill and parsley, cumin. Make a big salad instead of bread. We humans are not supposed to eat it. I know bread is tasty especially when baked at home but if you care about your weight and height, blowing, inflation, eat as little as possible.
"When two foods are eaten that have different or even opposite, digestive needs, the precise adjustment
of digestive juices to meet requirements becomes impossible. Eating proteins with carbohydrates (sugar
or starch) produces the same abortive situation as combining acids with carbohydrates, since protein
digestion requires the secretion of acid enzymes and juices. All acids, including those in food and the
acid protein-digesting juices, destroy ptyalin, the starch-digesting enzyme."

Just call them sloppy joes.
