Flap closure on Wiseman is like the Bianchi holster flap. More than a few things done by Blackhawk and Diamondback like the micro chestrig credited to Spiritus systems. HY harness also done before. I forgot Paraclete.
Shit, I still run an SADF type 83 rig with old school Magpul loops on my mags. Type 81 Chinese if I need super lightweight. G-Code holster on my belt if I need it, I'm kinda phasing out my battle belt and just putting the pouches directly on my trouser belt now. Anything I don't need immediate access to goes in my day pack.
@@sullathehutt7720 haha. Me too. My chicom chestrig was modified back in the early 90s. More stuff coming off my battle belt going on my trousers also. Take care of yourself. Keep your powder dry.
I’m only just discovering you guys and I’m so glad I did. I think your chest rig has two serious innovations. A) you can adjust the tightness of the flap, and B) the “hook” type closure (probably just as secure as Velcro but without the noise). I think the dual-mag pocket size adds significant versatility as well… you can probably go with two mags, a radio, some medical, a water bottle, etc. I’m probably picking one of these up soon
These are all phenomenal set ups. I would like to add one to the list thats not a chest rig and by no means replaces a chest rig. But the unity clutch belt is a very versatile piece of gear that easily rolls up and can be placed into a backpack, center console etc when traveling and is easy to quickly throw on under clothing to not bring a lot of attention. And its not a one size fits all but has some wiggle room on not having to be perfectly sized to anyone person. Again it doesn't take the place of any of these you guys covered but its a solid set up in a pinch. Thank you for all of the effort and work you guys put into your videos and stay safe!
Thanks for the comment and also info and support the clutch is very awesome and something we almost threw into the video but forgot to bring with us. But yes you are so correct, it works very well for edc
Pretty nice setups! My favorite rigs are just a little heavier load-ups, but they do the job well-- the OPS Enhanced Combat Chest Rig (that's my primary now), the Helikon-Tex Guardian Rig (though I don't like it's crossover harness straps and would much prefer an H or X solid Yoke harness), and the Tasmanian Tiger Chest Rig (that one's only M4/ AR specific fit).
Just got my lunar concepts HX harness and I love it so far. Carries my micro fight rig so much better than the spiritus H harness fat strap. Best part of all: comes in m81 woodland 😎 anyways, 10 out of 10, would recommend.
Great video, I’m redoing my whole set up. I had a Helikon Tex rig for awhile but I wanted something a bit different so I decided to get the Enamel Pie Cobbler to expand a micro rig. I’ll probably go with the Haley micro or something similar. I am liking that ghost rig though.
The Haley is good however our two top favorites for that type of rig are the GHOST ( we know we are biased) and also the spiritus systems micro fight as far as a bandolier rig, IC13’s invert is top of the game for the style!
I appreciate the information without a million b roll clips and terminology I have to google. Thanks for content for the average civilian trying to stay ready
Good choice for a cheap price. If you don't care about body armor, the FLC system has a incredible amount of space to attach pouches and gear. If you wear it right, you can still wear it with a rucksack with relative ease.
The great thing is that Emerson makes a cheaper version of the Mayflower UW gen3 chest rig that’s basically the same thing as the original but half the price. Sure, it may be chinesium, but if it works, it works. You can usually find them on eBay for 90ish bucks.
I use a spiritus systems MK4 (knock off krydex) chest rig with 2 side wings a dangler and I modified my own admin pouch chest adapter and it works perfectly... it holds 8 mags or 6 with a radio and the dangler is medical. I also have a S.O.E ranger green chest rig in the style of the haley D3 mini with wings and works fine as well
Wiseman company... I thought I recognized that range with all the greenery! Saw the review of the M1A Socom 16 that was at that range I believe. Pretty cool.
I’ve been wondering what you guy did before you started Barrel and Hatchet? Were you guys LE or Mil or just regular dudes doing all this? Either way I love the content and what you guys are doing!

With optics, I will get a lot of hate for saying it. But, I feel like most people don't need an illuminated reticle unless you're using it on 1x a lot. A lot of hunters still don't even use illuminated reticles while hunting 🤷♂️
I’m looking into building a dedicated SPR chest rig. While I was really g liking the new 34a split from Spiritus, the price equaled out to the same in the end as what a split velocity does. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.
Split rigs are great for laying in the prone and being able to unbuckle in the center is a very nice perk to have, I believe a split rig would meet your needs quite well!
Hammer vs screwdrivers? Chestrig vs body armor? How to decide... Cost...you are a beginner and budget is a concern Weight...you have transportation specific weight restrictions such as helecopters or bush planes that cannot accommodate ballistic plate weight. Mobility...mission dictates running, jumping, climbing, perhaps even hand to hand. The chest-rig reduces weight and has less impact on center of gravity for athletic skills. Concealability...mission requirements to bring increased firepower into discreet environments. Seeing a trend? Most beginners take thier chest-rigs to the range to have fun. Then they learn how dangerous two-way gunfights can be and they armor-up. In the end the best shooters push the bleeding edge sacrificing the defensive armor in exchange for top tier operator capabilites. You need to help your would be trainees to understand where they fall on that scale so they can pick a chest-rig that works for them. These were just a few examples...but, i hope they help.
I'm 71 YO now and I have gone to my Mossberg 930 as my primary. I drug out my AR 500 plate carrier the other day and I can't use it anymore. I'm too old and it's too heavy. So I bought a TAPS rig to hold my shotgun shells and I got a Krydex H harness to support it. The thing is so difficult to set up I don't know if I have it right with all the different buckles and other shit it all comes with. I have two shell holders that close up with 24 shells each they attach via MOLLI, I'm sure you have seen them. Can you help me with this issue.??
I have a cheap mtsc pistol rig and let me tell you I run deep with my 40. And 5 mags full med and edc items it's a great pistol edc rig for stf or edc carry
Hey guys, good video! I like the design of your chest rig, but I'm looking for a split front right now. I love that you are useing pouches without velcro....it drives me insane when I'm trying to be quiet and I have to open somethng up. I have been looking and looking for pouches like these. Do you know if they can be found individuall? Maybe with a molle attachment?
If you run lots of different rifles direct action gear hurricane chest rig is where it’s at. If you like split front and don’t really need a lot of molle real estate imo.
I know you guys said the ghost was designed for m16 mags, but is it possible to be able to possible put an ar10 mag or ak mag in those pouches? or would you not recommend that. really love the hook closure system on those pouches.
I've got the lunar concepts hx paired with a parashooter volk4 with enamel pie cobbler expansion wings topped with a spiritus mk3 dangler. Mutant and small utility pouch
I’m enjoying your content. Suggestion: if you’re showing black kit with black clothing, bring your lighting…or just wear non-black clothing. Thanks for the work, men.
I'm broke and just got my first ar (grew up with guns just finally getting an AR-15) and starting a basic budget kit, the rig I'm looking at is the condor 7. Anyone here have experience with condor?
I think it’s absurd to go willingly into an armed conflict with anything more than a Spiritus Micro Rig with 3 mags. Because if you’re gonna die, you should look like a tier 1 flannel operator while your perforated carcass is laying in a ditch with crappy drawers. Make sure you have your kestrel, laser rangefinder and a GPS in the $79 utility pouch. Because if you’re taking incoming fire, you’re definitely going to want to take time to range the target and dial in your Nightforce optic and take one precise shot. Everyone knows that watching your impact and implementing a holdover to rapidly engage a threat is for noobs, and you’re only an operator if you have your dope chart in your multicam wristband. Don’t be a poser. All those pouches filled with extra mags are for larpers. Your belt should have nothing on it except your sexy plastic holster for a glock with a red dot and flashlight plus 2 extra pistol mags you’ll never use in a fight. Never put any other gear on your hips just because that’s where you’re anatomically best equipped to carry a load. It doesn’t look cool. Everything, including your lunch, wet weather gear, prescription meds, land nav, and night vision, should all be on your chest rig. If it interferes with your reload in a fight and you die from it, it’s only because you didn’t spend enough money going to training courses where some washed up security guard yells at you about your split times and not flicking your safety back on fast enough while you’re rehearsing how to navigate the numerous pouches on your loadout. Get good.
If your JUST running and gunning as a sport it's great , but if ALL your training is for a real home land invasion your going to be getting shot at , in that case you'd be training with the wrong rig (NO PLATES) YOU have three options, go to the fight with No plates , stay home till the fight comes to you with No plates, GET PLATES be ready to fight no matter where you are ! Train with the exact gear your going to have to use when it matters , why , because it's heavy and you need to get use to THAT FEEL , know your gear, muscle memory, what works for you and what doesn't. Don't kid yourself , your training for WAR ! WHERE GROWN MEN CRY !!! God help us!

Carrying a chest rig over the plate carrier, so you can release some weight and still have the protection of the plates.
Modified TAPS rig here. Cheap (but good) surplus for the win
