I wouldn’t say we’re in the chest rig era again. It’s more like people realized that both chest rigs and plate carriers have their place and it’s good to have both.

Id suggest really looking into the defensemechanisms LCP chest rig. Its ridiculously modular and if you wanted to run a cummerbund on it its very possible.
When I was doing squad-leader stuff in the Army, I ran a SAW pouch on my right side of my FLC as a GP pouch, the radio went to the right of that, and my marking kit was to the right of that. All my ammo and my IFAK was on my left side; I typically ran my FLC zipped in the front, but I did tinker with just running the buckles in the front but the two buckles that come standard with it weren't enough. At the time, I didn't have the access to people to make me a mod to add buckles in without permanent modifying my FLC...so I'd have to pay for it when I left the Army. In hindsight, I could've bought my own FLC to tinker with and use in the field.

If your usecase does not Include you having to put your rigg on and off in a stress situation maybe if youre on Standby and need to get ready fast then i dont see how that takes priority

Unless you are trying to go covert, I think that your chest rig and belt should have the capability to hold just as much stuff as the old LBE and belt held.
