      "WE NEED MORE POINTS!" from a couple of weeks before this is his peak. But he's on fire here, especially for a game that was over as soon as it started. "Brock Marion is the last chance...but he turns into MAID Marian!" "It's Mrs. Beasley!" "Fiedler conducts another touchdown pass!" "It's a lateral! My God, we should know the rule NOW!" (one week after the Music City Miracle).

      The Cowboys weren’t much better a team, they had a far better quarterback. Johnson if he had more fortitude would have realized Marino would never be the answer and thus trade him for something (one kind of wonders if he’d have been able to draft Peyton Manning for 1997)

      @STP43FAN1 The hell are you talking about? Aikman is nowhere near the talent that Marino was.

      Marino needed to change his game. He needed to figure out short quick passes and faster reads. He failed because he just wasn’t that good.

      @@STP43FAN1 What? This shows you know nothing about Marino. Look at Marino's backs and Tight Ends. Tons of catches over the years. Faster reads? LMFAO. An absolute joke of a comment.

    • @calbar8793
      @calbar8793 2 роки тому +4

      It was route running / receiver scheming. Johnson knew this since 97. He had an inability to get talent and appopriate schemes on offense. Marino not figuring out short passes is a joke of a reason. Guy could easily throw short passes and get the ball out quick. Go watch the games between 97-99 on Miami and pause after the offensive snaps. Those receivers are running converging and sitting routes being blanketed in coverage. Their offense had no speed. Compare it to their playoff components who DID have speed - Rod Smith, Jimmy Smith, Joey Galloway. Miami had an on-his-way out McDuffie, possession receiver Gadsen and the remainder were scrubs. It’s astonishung they were even in the playoffs these years with that offense

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 2 роки тому +1

      Cal Bar, you know for fact what I think Kuechenberg made clear - when opponents took away Marino’s deep game he never adapted. If Marino was so damned good he’d have adapted to and made better the guys he had.

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 3 місяці тому

      Cal Bar, Marino’s completion percentages kept deteriorating - 58% 1997, 57% 1998, 55% 1999. That’s not receivers that’s a quarterback who’s throwing ability and reading of the field is the problem. Joey Galloway was never an asset he was a liability. Rod Smith couldn’t succeed until he got John Elway. Why is it so awful to admit MARINO was the problem and nothing else?

      Johnson was always high strung and would sometimes bully players needlessly as a coach (the airplane harangues to players in 1992 after the Cowboys lost to the Redskins is a well known example) and Marino was notorious for pointing fingers and not accepting that much blame. From 1996-2001, Jacksonville made 4 and Miami made 5 postseason appearances in 6 seasons. Jacksonville has made 3 and Miami has made 2 in the 19 seasons since then. Also, the 2 of the Jaguars 4 victories in their inaugural season in 1995 game against the Browns. Then they won all 6 games against the Ravens from 1996-1998, which was the 3 year period that the Browns moved to Baltimore and left Cleveland without a team. Then when Cleveland got their turds back (Side note: WTF, Cleveland? Your football team looked like and was named like poop. That team abandoned you. Three years later you get a brand new NFL franchise and you name it the.... Browns? Again? Jesus Christ, Cleveland.) they defeated the Browns and Ravens each twice in 1999. They also won both games against Cleveland in 2000 but lost both to Baltimore that season. The Jags won their first 13 games against the old Browns, moved Browns, and new Browns.

      It’s because the Jaguars were a much better team than the Seahawks. I mean as a Dolphins fan they had no chance just like they had no chance against the Broncos the year prior I mean look at that Jaguars roster compared to the Seahawks and Dolphins it was clearly obvious the Jaguars were better overall. The defense was ok not great also doesn’t help when your coach is already checked out doesn’t care anymore that was Jimmy Johnson who just so happened to quit on the Dolphins a year before after they got absolutely mauled by the Broncos. They also didn’t deserve to make the playoffs in 99 they would’ve been better off missing it. They could’ve actually missed the playoffs during JJ’s 4 years but they got bailed out by other teams to make it from 97-99 so overall JJ was a failure with the fins and he knows it

      Jimmy Johnson was leaving no matter what he had quit on the Dolphins the year prior after getting blown out by the Broncos but stupid Wayne Huzengia brought him back. Johnson was burnt out when he slithered his way into the Dolphins job. Jimmy Johnson was such an embarrassment to the Dolphins. He should’ve stayed at fox and Shula should’ve stepped down on his own terms that’s what should’ve happened.

      @@chrisuncleahmad666 simple the Seahawks weren’t good it was clearly obvious in that game that the Dolphins were gonna get there asses kick against the Jaguars. Look at the Seahawks roster and Jaguars in 99 it was clear as day the Jaguars were superior than the Seahawks and Dolphins. Still can’t believe that Jags team lost to the Titans. My Dolphins had no shot in this game. This was like a comedy show basically

    John Elway had Terrel Davis in the backfield, and a trio of pro bowl targets in Shannon Sharpe, Rod Smith and Ed McCaffrey to throw to at the end of his career. Probably as good any any skill group in the late 90'S. Marino on the other had one of the least talented group of players at the end of his career.

    Jimmy johnson just didn't have the talent in Miami like he did in Dallas. Should have completely overhauled the Dolphins . Also should have went with a younger quarterback because Marino should have retired when Jimmy got there.

      No. Dan was still a top 5, perennial Pro Bowl Quarterback when Jimmy became coach in '96. It was Jimmy who handcuffed Marino and severely limited the scope of that offense all in the name of "ball control".

      @@kevin4209 Rushing keeps the Defense honest , Dolphins rushed for 2k every season from 1970- 1979, missed in 1980 , 1981, 1983, again over 2k Marino rookie year , Never again did they rush for more than 1700 yards in a season , The rest of his career , Johnson knew THAT WAS A LOSING FORMULA ..

    • @kevin4209
      @kevin4209 3 місяці тому

      @mr.majestic3851 OK, but Johnson never had a talented enough RB to get that done. In hindsight, he made a run at Barry Sanders after he retired after the '98 season, but it didn't come to fruition. His draft picks on offense were horrible during his years as coach. He put together a rock solid defense, but offensively, he failed miserably and handcuffed the one guy who constantly made a difference!

    Johnson was such an overrated coach, he won in Miami taking over a national champship program and he was able to be a get great players to come to the Hurricanes. And he won in Dallas cause he was able to get the Vikings to make the worst trade ever for Herschel Walker. Without that the cowboys dont win any superbowls. He was not a great X/O coach.
