One of the greatest performances by a Dolphins runner. Lamar Smith put the team on his back and overcame 3 interceptions by his QB to win. He will always have a place of honour in my memories of the 'phins. I watched this game live, on Sky Sports.
If Miami had a decent quarterback who could manage the game and occasionally make a play, they would’ve been a Super Bowl contender every year. Their defense was top notch.
Man watching shit back like this brings me to tears… just seeing a packed stadium of dolphins fans like it should be! I just pray to god I can see another playoff win before I go.. 🐬🆙
With the Lions winning a playoff game, the Dolphins now have the longest playoff win drought in the NFL. No wonder my area cares more about Inter Miami than the Dolphins.
Regular Season Vanderjagt was once the most accurate kicker in NFL history. Late Game Playoff Vanderjagt's kicks weren't even in the same zip code as the goal posts.
This was probably Miami's best D unit of that late 90's to mid 00s era,Miami had an incredible D,stacked from the front to the Backfield,I would even say that as good as they were, they probably underperformed, only thing miami was missing were complimentary LB'rs to go with THOMAS over the middle and I think they were a safety short also, cuz besides Marion nothing great, but the front and the DB'S were as good as any in that era, with the exc eertption of Baltimore!!
Holy guacamole...I'd forgotten how Lamar was bashing, gashing and slashing the Colts D even when they were falling behind 14-0. That's how terribad Fiedler was, if it hadn't been for him the Fins would've won by at least 3 scores. Literally every time he passed in the first half something bad happened.
I remember the game being blacked out. Back in that day, I had a programed Directv card, so all I had to do was turn to the ABC east channel. Back when bootleg cards were easy to come by.
The only reason he was only in those couple playoff appearances and posted those couple 11-5 records was cuz of the defense carrying out all the workload. And to think he's the quarterback of all people to win a playoff game for the dolphins, smh...
Thank you so much for the post. Great viewing at 3AM during a quarantine
Lamar Smith was a beast in this game, although he was completely worn out the following week. Still a great game.
To this day I still hold Lamar Smith in much higher regard than Ricky Williams because of this game. And also The Betrayal of '04.

still holds the record for carries in a playoff game with a ridiculous 40, before him it was Ricky Bell and John Riggins tied at 38
One of the best playoff games no one seems to remember.
I fully believe the 2000s were the best football decade in NFL history because of these sorts of playoff games
Miami's last playoff win.
Marino's last win
@@yaahlabanyamyan144 he was retired already. His last win was in the same playoff round, vs Seattle, the year before
@@yaahlabanyamyan144 Ummmm...did you watch? Fiedler was QB😂
@@otaviofrn_adv the year is wrong in the title I think this is the 2001 playoffs
@@markgeorges7645 no, it's right. 2000 season, ended with Super Bowl 35 in early 2001
23:28 One of the GOAT plays in Fins history. Prove me wrong. Even better than the Fake Spike because it won a playoff game.
The Dolphins were tough that year. They handed the SB champs Ravens their only convincing loss.
One of the greatest wins in Dolphins' history.
Held a Manning/James/Harrison offense to 17 points. Miami's defense from that time is underrated these days because the offense was often so inept.
yes, and ten of that came from Fiedler picks. Manning couldn't go downfield for anything against them!

Man those dolphin end zones are beautiful. That logo destroys the new garbage one today

It's wild how unclutch he was
Olindo Mare, who was one of the best handful of them in 2000, missed a shorter field goal for the Dolphins.

O.J. McDuffie won that game for us. His last as a Dolphin.
Tua will lead them to a super bowl soon.
Lets go fins!!!

Yeah. They should have definitely took Leaf over that guy.

If Miami only had a functional offense to go with that defense...
Jay Fiedler outlasts Peyton Manning.
The colts should've accepted that offsides in OT and go for the 3rd and short. Even if they don't get it it's still a long field goal anyway.
I believe this is the Dolohins last playoff win to date
*Dolphins
If the rams lose to the lions today, the dolphins will hold the longest playoff win drought since 2000, 24/23 years 😂🥶🤮
Well the Rams lost to the lions that day.
Lamar Smith is still worn out from this game.
He's not the only one. After the game winning TD I literally collapsed to the floor from emotional exhaustion.
Vanderjackass still has nightmares😂
