How to fix and paint gutter rashed wheels

- Ive painted the wheels on the Forester. I felt like gold was the way to go. Once I saw them on the car I really didnt like it.
I let them dry for a day and sanded them again.
Sprayed some adhesion promoter, colour and clear. Check it out.

The Black looks better. I reckon the same colour as the old WRX WRC gold wheels would have looked ok maybe. Congrats on the supercheap sponsorship. Its a great channel, highly deserve it

@@customspraymods I take my wheels off the same way, but only because I have a similar wrench already. I wouldn't buy one specifically though. I get what's happening, and you may have removed the wheel several times to make the video etc, and of course you're promoting the store. It was just odd to see a 'rattle gun' not rattling though. :-)

The Black wheels look better and matches the black trim on your car , nice job .
You can also use an epoxy filler like kneadit to fill the the worst damage and sand it back and paint it .
It's usually a much lighter gold they use in contrast to the blue. Still looks great.

I know it's been a couple of years since you made the video, but will still comment - I like the black better than the gold. Before I knew the color I thought black or dark grey would look nice.
He did not mention the materials used in the paint and the stages, and how long it would take for the paint to dry, and the golden color or the method was not mentioned with the explanation

Personally liked the Custom Gold wheels better, but just were not a good match for your blue car.
You do nice work with a spray gun. My vote is black.
i painted my wheel Pearl cadbury purple, a few months back.. Took them to tyre shop to get new tyres fitted to them.. The dude scuffed the shit out of my wheels! was not happy!
In my opinion black ones are the winners. Did you spray a clear coat on the inner side of the rims or just on the front?

I loved the Gold but once they were on the car they were almost Copper and not a good look. The Black on its own didn't look to impressive but once on the car it was easy to see you made the right choice.

Gold was hum... maybe on the chrome also, but the black is always a safe bet.
Like the gold but the black looks better on it...seem you put some sticker on the side of the white car you had done gold candy rims on..

Out of curiosity you mentioned that in the past you have used body filler when repairing gutter rash - how come you didn’t this time around?

Black wheels... ugh. Been there, done that; never an impressive choice. The issue with black is that it only ever looks semi-decent when stationary in bright light, due to the lack of contrast against the tyres and the visual absence of wheels at night. The burnt gold imo looked a lot more interesting, however it was the same intensity as the blue, which was why it seemed off. A better choice for that car would have been BRONZE.

For that blue color I'd do the same grey from the volk graphic pressed rims. Or do bronzee
I don’t know if you have a harbor freight store where your from. But you can buy a car lift for under 1K dollars
Not pertaining to this video, but if I'm to paint a motorcycle, and I want it to be white with orange accent lines "1/8"" and I want gold flake.. in what order should I do the colors? What do I add the gold flake with?

Blue with gold is nice but I think the gold you used here is slightly to dark... Perhaps if you had used a white primer maybe the gold would have been brighter..... On the car they look sorta orange..

What nozzle diameter did you use for this job?
They look great, but the gold wheels don't really go with the blue car...In my opinion. Probably a color matched blue, or black.
Maybe a darker toner to get a more bronze/copper color?
Is super cheap auto like the american harbor freight?
The original Subaru gold wheels colour would look the better then the black or the funny shade of gold you put in this video

Could be wrong but this is a video made out of the VG auto paints so they aint selling supacheap products and the guy who helped you load your car is my sister in laws sisters hubby !

yea not a fan of the wheel color..I think you should do a gunmetal grey ... or do black (or gun metal grey) with a pink wheel strip around it to match the STI grill you have

What PSI/fan/fluid settings do you use when spraying wheels? Always find it quite difficult to get right!

What grit do you recommend to sand the primer before I spray the colour (came out a little “rough” and not a smooth as I expected)
Nik Trp 600g wet or 400g dry
In america we call it curb rash, because gutters are so rare

How long you let dry the primer before base coat?
And also did you wet sand before base coat?
He just let it dry for 30minutes and sprayed his base on. It's what we call a wet on wet coat. The primer is still soft enough that the base coat can bite in and stick

More damage was done by whoever took your tyres off the wheels by using a steel bar against the edge than was ever done by gutters!

Byronoo Torres no it will not. The paint can't withstand heat from brakes or engine bay as well.
