It's the 3-4-3 abreast configuration on their B777-300ER that make the seats so uncomfortable. Previously they used to have 3-3-3 for the same aircraft type, which meant the seats used to be wider. Some airlines still have the 3-3-3 configuration. So choose the airline wisely when you fly the B777-300ER. I avoid any airline that puts 3-4-3 for this aircraft type.
1. Finally someone talks about and shows how squashed one can be when the person in front of you reclines. 2.When the seat is also narrow with the next guy's shoulder touching yours 3.On a 15 hours flight. Will find out if I can afford an exit row seat instead. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Yeah I was shoulder and shoulder with the guy in the middle seat plus a reclined seat, it sucked. Absolutely, an exit row seat is ideal for this flight.
When I travelled with Cathay from hong inning to New York the plane was in 3-3-3 config in 2018 now it’s 3-4-3 it’s such a bad thing and the prices now I think are maybe little bit more expensive than before.
I saw a couple of business class videos that they have improved... I am more interested in economy class reviews as that is what I spend when travelling with my family
Hi I did check a bag, I believe their limit is 50lbs just like most airlines. They’re pretty generous with the dimensions though, most airlines only allow up to 65 inches (height, length, width combined) while Cathay allows up to 85 inches
ah man im flying first time to China and this is the only one i found to go nonstop. But im considering going on a better airlines such as qatar even tho it has a connecting flight
I would say as long as you fly on Cathay's A350 (NOT THE 777!!!), you will have a top-notch experience. Their 777s are rubbish and I would avoid them as much as possible unless it's a short-medium haul flight, where it is bearable. I highly recommend the A350-1000, that is probably the most comfortable economy class seat in the world.
Great video, just booking JFK-HKG-MNL in economy with my family. I've flown them in First and Business, but never in economy and slightly nervous. Thanks for giving your height details, as I'm 6'4'' and pretty concerned with space. Might stick the wife and kids in economy and bump up to Biz 😅
Try not to fly on their 777s and you should be ok. (The aircraft type matters). I would personally fly premium economy at least, it’s too long of a flight to sit on uncomfortable seats
Great review! One thing I would say is that Cathay's A350 are miles and miles above their 777s. You were (unfortunately) on their 777 flight from JFK-HKG (The other 2 are an A350-900 and an A350-1000, the A350-1000 is incredibly nice and comfortable). I think Cathay's economy class is an incredible product if you are on the right aircraft, and even if you are on the 777 it is a decent experience. I know it's crazy to think that the aircraft matters so much, but it really does! And flying in economy doesn't mean you will be the last to get your meal choice, because the other classes have separate meal choices, it's more about where in the cabin you are seated. Anyways thanks for the nice video!
Thanks for the feedback and info. I’ll keep an eye out for the aircraft type moving forward. Definitely will have to fly with them again in the future since my grandparents live in HK

@@jasonlee3165 Trust me, I would not support or recommend Cathay-Pacific. All East Asian airlines offer much better service and treat their patrons with due respect and dignity compared to Cathay-Pacific... a reflection of Hong Kongers' judgemental attitude. Have fun with your racist airline lol!
My favorite airline ❤
👍
Your presentation is highly interesting to watch. Thank you very much 😊
Thanks!
I tried this in February, it was pretty good.

@@samswallet according to this their exit rows are thinner
@samswallet are you not supposed to recline on a 16 hour flight?? I have done that route a half dozen times and I cannot imagine not reclining
@ I usually don’t unless the person sitting in front of me does
Mostly agree except the TV shows part。 CX is a HK airline, you cant expect it has only US shows, of coz there would be a lot of Chinese one
Thats true, cant argue that

You can always use credit card points to book a free flight

No doubt

@@JohnWeek-il5nk I would highly recommend premium economy. 15 hours in economy was a lot
They dont offer free wifi, which is a bit let down as compared to their competitors.
Yeah, that was a bit of a letdown
Great video. Did you check in a bag. Were they strict with the weight. How was the overall flight

Does cathay pacific fly to T3 of Manila Airport from LAX?
Yes it seems so but you are most likely going to have a layover at Hong Kong. Might want to consider an airline that flies to Manila direct from lax
Yes
So good I would like to try one time 🎉😊
👍

It’s your choice, I would rather fly direct even if it was uncomfortable. Qatar is top notch though. Maybe book premium economy seats?
@@samswallet I’m actually thinking of doing qatar and just spending a day in doha ! Never been, so its a good opportunity

I'm a pescatarian and i don't eat rice and cheese. The food on cathay doesn't suit me being in economy. I tried the vegetarian meal its not good.
Ah sorry to hear. Never tried their vegetarian meal but thanks for the input

I fly JFK-HK for work. Always economy unfortunately. So far, I'd have to say Cathay was the worst.
Not able to get meals you wanted is not a good thing 😮
@@wd3650 was definitely disappointed
Next time fly airbus 350 it will be much better than 777
Thanks! Will try next time
Compare to other top airliners, Cathay Pacific's Economy Class is shitty.
How is Delta economy wayyyy better for 1/3 of the price come on now
I dont think delta flies to hong kong direct
Cathay-Pacific is RACIST. I would NOT fly with them.
What happened? lol
