JFK Delta Skyclub Review - Terminal 4, Concourse A (2024)
their a350 is so much more comfortable
Ever since they squished 10 seats across on 777s and made the seats thin and hard to get another few rows in, the experience of flying on these aircraft is pure misery. Same with the 787s designed for 8 across but nearly all 9. Only Japan Airlines does the right thing with 787s.
They told us we are not able to use property credit for sauna or in room dining. It is only for the restaurants.
I was told I could use it for in room dining, odd
I was about to book flights on ANA until I realized the SFO to HND leg was a United flight. Decided to spend my money elsewhere. Thanks for confirming that was the right decision.
You made the right choice, saved yourself from a world of pain
Thank you for sharing. Do you know whether they provide shower amenities like Shampoo and body wash for the shower suites?😂 thanks
They almost always do. Shaving kit as well and toothbrush
@ thank you for your swift response
Great review. Thanks
My pleasure!
The lunch is much better
Good to know, thanks
I’m a bit confused, so we are allowed to use EWR’s maple leaf lounge now? I saw a list it says only air Canada’s sfo, Lga, and jfk airports. 😅
Glad I saw your video. I was undecided between United and Delta economy Athens to FL, long flight to be miserable.
It’s still going to be uncomfortable in any economy class unfortunately, but united was horrific. Glad I could help
can i get in with amex plat ?
Yeah 1 visit with priority pass per year
Do they give noodles for free? For real? Also the liquor? Even for economy?
Yes. Unlimited too. They might cut you off if you’re too wasted though
I know many of these rates have changed in one years' time but your information is still useful. Thank you.
Aw thank you!
First time flying with them from in a month and I’m nervous bc I have never flown for that long 😫😫lol
I would recommend taking an isle seat. Make sure you get up and walk and stretch every few hours (leg blood clots are real if you sit stationary too long)
Hey, Sam. How about resorts as another way to exchange currency? When I went to Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic last year for a spring break trip and exchanged my American Dollars for Dominican Pesos, they didn't seem to give me an exchange rate-making it a 0% loss.
Hi, thats great! You kind of have to look at the exchange rate on google to see if it’s really fair. So if the euro and usd is one to one, if you exchange $100 usd, you should be getting 100 euros
Why not search HND only since JAL does not fly JFK-NRT?
Seem pp can’t enter now
Nice review. Did they measure your carry on bag's size as well as weight before making you check it in?
@@erinkenna yes they did. They said I was over, but they let it slide since it was my first time flying with them
I'm going through airfrance in 3 weeks, hoping it's better. i know that they have wifi passes so maybe thats why it didnt work?
Thanks for a nice flight review! United also offers economy plus which is an economy seat but with better legroom which makes the journey a little more supportable. I agree that Asian airlines are a better alternative, we recently flew with ANA both domestic in Japan and international (NRT-LAX), good legroom in economy, good service and a super attentive crew
Just came back from Hanoi flying via HK from Toronto. I will never fly Cathay Pacific ever again. I paid 2500$Cdn, considering a high season price tag, and an extra approx $200cdn inc tax, for selcting my econmy seat going to, and a random selection coming back. That amount is even considered a bragain price in December. ( if you are to select the exit row seats, that's even more pricey, around 350$Cdn+tax high season - 1 way! ) The experience was a nightmare, esp coming back. I have flown Cathay multilple times before, lates 90's and late 2000's, and trust me the experience is like day and night then and now. Somewhat unclean aircraft, food is tasteless, chair is very uncomfortable, service is mediocre, lavatory is like taking a dump in a 3rd world country toilets ( yknow exactly what I meant by that, no pun intended ) Mind you, also, I am only 5'2 in height, and the seat space is suffocating, esp if u are randomly seated in the mid section, and imagine being seated n between 2 larger sizes human beings. Flight coming back was really the darkside of my experience. Upon entering economy class, I can still smell URINE passing by the lavatory, and this was supposed to be a cleaned AIRCRAFT, set to depart for a long haul flight to TOR? Unaccepatable. My pillow had hair strands on it still - and so I used it as a butt cushion instead! Seat is hard as rock! Flight staffs in the economy class, were crude! ( that's just based on my experience on this flight coming back ). I am not even going to elaborate on that. Next time I am flying to Asia, either I have to save a little more for a prememium seat and /or choose a different AIRLINES, even routed via Europe. The Cathay flight from HK to Hanoi ( and Hanoi to HK ) was the highlite ; that experience was the experience I had with Cathay in the late 90's and 2000's.
90s and 2000s was the golden age of flying. Cheaper than today in real terms, nearly all long haul on 747s, could change your ticket dates without charge. Back then I had to do 2 or 3 return flights from London to Sydney every year, all in economy. Even better, we often got empty seats to sleep on and several upgrades to business class. Not now, very expensive, all seats full, and more conditions tied to your ticket than an entire city's parking regulations. Also what I'm seeing in Europe for 3 hour flights is insanely expensive. Low-cost Carrier tickets in peak season for as much as I flew to Australia for a few years ago. Insane.
My experience with most American airlines has been average, at best. I will admit that the service on many European airlines has also declined.. My best flight experience was with Emirates and Singapore...
Hi Sam I agree, JAL PE seat is brilliant along with excellent service and food. I would definitely fly PE with them again.
@@WalterBrown-j1t it’s honestly one of my favorite airlines
I won't fly Cathay Pacific again. I've flown with them quite a few times in the past unfortunately, in February 2023, they refused to allow me to change my flight for compassionate reasons. I was going to fly to Singapore from Vancouver to see my terminally brother but he passed on earlier than expected. Cathay wanted to charge $1,000 for an earlier flight. Cathay won't be making any more money from me!
That's normal practice with most airlines now. I've lost two long haul flights for similar reasons.😊
I'm glad I saw your review before booking the flight to Japan
Why is it not worth keeping the card past 2 years?
To me, the benefits do not outweigh the cost of the annual fee. This card is also being discontinued soon I believe
Can you not use the lounge with a Air Canada business class ticket ?
I do not think so
can you stay there at the ARRIVAL terminals?
Unfortunately most do not allow entry upon arrivals
You are the most honest and insightful flight reviewer! I am a frequent flyer and I hate United with a deep passion. The densified 777 and 787 have the most uncomfortable narrowist slimline seats ever. It's absolutely a torture. People that disagree just don't know better or have gotten used to the abuse. The senior FAs that work these long hauls all have a nasty attitude...like on purposely nasty. They have either flaming gay guys or bitter old Asian ladies with this unnecessary awful attitude. You are spot-on in saying they hate their jobs. Even in my crankiest day, I don't treat people like the way they do. The food is horrendous like you said - they source the cheapest stuff that other airlines reject and the dishes make no sense like you said, mixing rice with noodles. I flew United not by choice but because my original flights were IROP'ed and I had to make important meetings in Asia, so my airline re-booked me on United. Nothing is good on United...not on any of the flights I have taken with them.
Thanks. Yeah I am not sure why they have such an awful attitude. Someone really needs to take a closer look at their flight experience because it’s pretty awful
Is there a sleeping couch at this lounge?
@@s.t.e.w.sleeptraveleatworktv no but there are large comfy individual pods from what I remember
Really nicely paced video that includes all the information and what you can expect
Thanks! 👍
Nice review, Would you pick this over the Chase Sapphire lounge ? thanks
@@wingmantx in hong kong, yes. Space is smaller but the food is much better
@samswallet interesting, most of the ChaseSap lounge reviews are quite positive. There is also a new Kyra lounge which I just learned about.
I've stayed here twice and have booked another in April.
@@kvom01 did you enjoy your stay?

Is there a resort fee or mandatory charge at Conrad New York Downtown?
Not when I was there
that’s so cool! i would definitely try the horror club when i visit new york :)
I am confused, Do you work or are you a student?
I work. But I took out 160k in student loans and have been paying that off for a while
@samswallet Oh okay 👍🏻
The Paypal added a new category for the 5% cashback to the restaurants, clothing, gas, etc which is now "Tech"
Dec. 2024 only. :(
I can't afford East Asian airlines from the U.S. I had to fly United from SFO to TPE back in September 2023. It was the worst flight experience I've ever had. Granted I bought the cheapest ticket, Economy Basic. I did not get to select my seats for any of the legs of flight. And they put me in the worst seats possible (between strangers) on just about an the legs. I'm so glad Delta resumed their U.S. to TPE route again! But one thing is for certain, I'll pony up that extra $200 to be about to select my seat and bring an extra checked bag next time I fly international.
Wish I had seen this before booking my flight. *Argh*
I go to the Philippines Cathay Pacific is the best for price. The meals are not good at all nothing like flying Emirates but you get what you pay for. I am tall so I have to take the exit aisle seats and pay more.. but an average size person round-trip to Manila $850 US! Can’t complain about that. The flight attendants were excellent no problems there.
I just got approved for this car. I don't see using this card besides when flying with AA. It is still worth the AF with the 70,000 SUB. I will hang on to it and see if Barclays AA cards get switched over to Citi.
I wonder if upgrades would be better if you check in later around 3-4pm instead of 12 because those staying in the suites likely have late checkout so they could stay till 4.
Thank you for your prompt response. They both have 2X3X2 seats right? No 3 seats for window sides?
Which airline do you recommend from SFO to Tokyo?
@@amgr6716 ana or japan airlines
@@samswallet Thank you for your prompt response. They both have 2X3X2 seats right? No 3 seats for window sides?
@@amgr6716 Only JAL still has 2-4-2 economy on 787. ANA has reconfigured into 3-3-3 on their 787. Both have more legroom than United.
Hi. Is the lounge the place where you wait ti board? Or do you still have to go to where people usually stay to wait to board? Thanks!
@@yahlahabibi you can if you have lounge access. Most people wait at the gate without airport lounge access
Do you wait at the lounge before boarding?
Hot water bottles in bed are great...electric blankets work great....
Flight attendants on this route are the worst! Somehow they staff with the most experienced ones on this route most of the time. While I would normally expect senior crews to be better at servicing passengers, at United they seem to become less motivated as they stay with the airline longer. Most of them are extremely unhelpful and rude. On the most recent flight, I asked one of the older male attendant if “chicken” choice would be Asian food because he only asked if I wanted “chicken” or “pasta”. To this question, he simply said “I have no idea”. Without further info, I chose chicken with the hope it would be Asian food. When the food tray was placed on my table, it had a clear plastic film and it was obvious that it was Asian stir fry with rice without opening it. This flight attendant could have just looked and told me even if he had no knowledge about what he was serving. In either case, the food was really awful and I could not eat much of it. Given the airfare by ZipAir is generally less than half of what I paid United, I will stick with ZipAir in the future. Zip is a low cost carrier, but they have much more helpful flight crews, edible foods (though they charge $10-15), and free wi-fi that is compatible with Netflix and UA-cam (United’s paid WiFi doesn’t support videos), and reasonably comfortable seats on newer 787 aircraft. I have million miler status with United, but it is no longer worth flying United at current airfare and service quality that continues to get worse.
