quill is the only gaming commentator who telegraphs enough about the game and what he’s doing while playing so that i can listen to it while running without having to watch the video. 👍
I love the fact that if he finds something a bit rubbish or confusing, he mentions it (like the scraps/heatstamps) he doesn;t just blindly praise the devs and gloss over the crap UI or minor stuff like this that are confusing.
Different communities may call the same thing different things. The prologue is the 'Wanderer' community. The main game seems to be the 'New London' community.Hence the Scrap/Heatstamp dichotomy
not only is the physical scale of everything larger in this game, the time is also turbocharged. Those flashing yellow lights are actually hundreds of people carrying their torches along the streets in superfast time :)
@@jerseyjunior Yeah, I didn't realise that at all for ages. makes sense, but the game didn't explain it. I dont expect to be handheld and the game to explain everything. but when the roads pop up out of nowhere unlike the original it's confusing.
Phew, its been a while since I've done a Quill vid. You taught me to play EU4 waaay back in the day with your Castille run, and I watched for years but fell out of the habit. Feels good to be back!
Handling mercury is mostly dangerous because of the probability of you inhaling the fumes, yes. Like lead has worse effects being absorbed through the skin by hand than mercury, if all you're doing is touching it. And people touch plenty of elemental/metallic lead, even breathe plenty of it if they're into shooting sports, hunting, or law enforcement/military where they have to train for their job. But breathing mercury vapors is really really bad. And it's so easy to do if you're handling liquid mercury. If you're already going to be wearing the full respirator to avoid breathing it... just put some gloves on. And don't drink it, you'll definitely end up breathing some. And skin absorption and gut absorption also happen and are bad. Just less bad than breathing it.
you have any idea how good it feels to finally return after a year long trip and come back to hheeeeeyyy quill 18 here and were back with frostpunk 2! My favorite series hands down has to be the frostpunk games and with the new one out, it was a no brainer to pre-order the most expensive things to support the developers and to get by grubby hands on the game sooner xD
The replay-ability in this game is nuts. I‘ve seen a few starting streams now and they were all different, even though the game kinda gives the same inputs and pointers. Awesome.
Hey thanks for reminding me that those that preordered the deluxe could start today. I ordered it when it was first announced and forgot I could start early. I was gonna wait until the 20th! Super thanks for that! Also good video!
Aaah dude, I love you and glad your ok considering the bat incident and subsequent needles. Thanks for streaming this, one of the big highlights of my September the release of this game . :)
I'm quite excited for this game, can't wait to see how it plays from this stream 😊 Also unfortunate to hear you needed to take so many shots Quill 😮! Hope everyone will be alright, better safe than sorry.
The bat showing strange behavior is worrying. The scary part is even if you don't get bit by a bat -- bat can have fleas, and fleas can transmit rabies.
Is anyone finding the choice of white UI text in a game with lots of snow stupendously ill-advised. The worst example is at the bottom right of the screen. UI 101 failure right there. If you are going to use white text, you can apply a contrasting drop-shadow effect to make it readable.
This was not Quill's fault. This was the game's own fault. It should not say "ready in x weeks at current rate" when the food will run out before then. It should instead say "insufficient food at current rate" or something. Also, I have no problem with the sound on my end at all. Your voice is coming through clearly.
I love the first 1, and so far despite enjoying the game I find the mechanics really hard to get my head around. THe prologue also plays very differently from the first actual "mission" which seems very odd. I think they did a piss poor job of the tutorial and explaining everything. (scraps/heatstamps being one of them)
Use ALT key for hightlighting Quill, it will help. But I agree, those floating tabs are annoying, and they do not centre sometimes when you double-click. It's all over the place depending how zoomed in you are or not.
I found the prologue to be easy I didn't even kill any seals you just have to get the food up as soon as possible I see the biggest mistake everyone is making is they're not constantly frost breaking you should be frost breaking at all times somewhere and another big mistake is there too concerned with looks just frost break in a straight design as possible towards what you need Don't worry about how it looks or anything else of that nature oh and when you get the food up immediately put them to emergency shift and every food should have a stockpile near it
Absoluely love this game, but I feel like the decision to scale up has taken away from the grittiness of the game. Not seeing your people trudging through the snow to mine and scavenge feels a little distant to me.
I agree but I also think it’s a cool change for a sequel. Keep a similar vibe up increase the scale so it really feels like you’re continuing from where you left off
You most definitely can beat the prologue by following the tutorial. You just ignored the seals and weren't paying enough attention to what the game was telling you.
9 is ridiculous, is that how Canada does post exposure? I am rabies vaccinated, you get them a week apart in the arm. If I ever get exposed I only need to get two post exposure vaccines in the arm.
I'd imagine you only need the emergency protocol jabs if you're unvaccinated; if you've already been vaccinated (& it's up-to-date) the procedure is far less intense
The Seals should be saved. They are clearly divine beings who have survived the end of the world. Plus, they are the best. Also, what is the point of an 'optional' quest if you have to do it to not lose? So I couldn't even choose to not use that or it is a game over? Not much of a choice then and I'm much less interested in this game.
It is not needed to win. You can kill off the elders, and survive without the seals. You have to choose one of the other, though, or some other similar gambit.
It's perfectly possible to beat the tutorial without doing either, I have. Though probably not on your first playthrough, since you need to be doing stuff before the game tells you
@@Wizard_of_the_Tower Or *immediately* get the food production running. But the game assumes the delay of your discovery is going to be either kill the seals or elders.
Honestly, I'm having problems with even doing the basics here. The game's not transitioning old processes or showing new ones. I played the first to completion and can't figure out the first move...
They went too far away from the first game but I guess they were stuck as making it too similar would have hurt sales too as the game became repetitive after 30-40h… (and so playing a second game very similar wouldn’t be as appealing)
30:00 How did you survive Frostpunk 1? Did you create a horrible totalitarian dystopia or a horrible theocratic dystopia? I'm sorry, you wanted to create a "nice" society? We don't believe in that around here.

i love that quill figured that out immediately. developers should watch his stream
Took me around 2 hours to realise the roads with flashing yellow were actully roads with fast moving people, and not electricity or something.
not only is the physical scale of everything larger in this game, the time is also turbocharged. Those flashing yellow lights are actually hundreds of people carrying their torches along the streets in superfast time :)

IIRC, the Frostpunk 1 streams were the first instance of "Whiskey and Chocolate!", was it not? Those was my first intro to Quill!
originally, quill had a whiskey and chocolate fund people could donate to support him (before patreon was a thing :)

‘I have the smartest audience on twitch’
Oh Quill, flattery will get you everywhere lmfao
You definitely could have won that tutorial. You need to pay attention to the tooltips the moment they appear.
Don't worry, there aren't any bats in the frozen apocalypse...right?
That's what they *want* you to think before secret freezing bat strike!
You DO NOT risk bat contact. Even if you touch one, you get a rabies shot.
which is sad, cuz the world needs more bats for all tons of stuff. for me, we need them cuz they eat mosquitos!

Fleas cannot transmit rabies. That's a mythh. The disease is carried in the saliva of animals that are not insects.
Always love Quill. Thanks for everything.

Rabies untreated is 100% deadly, so yes, wise precaution. And now to the show!
Love watchiing this game....and yes I have a whole new set of nightmares now😂
Mercury is really bad to touch, even worse to drink, but even worser to breathe fumes 🤷

- Drink mercury

Don't eat drink or breathe any mercury kids. (And not even close to Matt Berry. The "Announcer" is Jay Britton.)

Ok you got me im sorry i unsub months ago and km back now because your the best when it comes to strat games.
Lost intrest cuz too focused on the mic during the most epic moment.
Well, with the seals... making an optional mission target a have-to to win the game is just bad game design.
Sorry quill to late.... i am already playing the game so i gone skip this on your channel
Just embrace that console have no longer a reason to exist since they are nothing more than bad PCs nowadays and ignore them ^^
