In this video we'll run through getting the Focusrite Liquid mix running under Windows 10. You'll need to download the following:
Legacy drivers, liquid mix installation & custom snapshots: mixitstudiosonline.co.uk/clien...
jBridge: jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/
Bluecat's Patchwork (if using Pro Tools): www.bluecataudio.com/Products...
Liquid mix installation: customer.focusrite.com/en/sup...
Legacy firewire drivers: download.microsoft.com/downlo...
Not only does the Liquidmix sound better than the majority of compressor plugins today, but it also emulates the harmonics in both the compressors and eqs. It baffles me why nobody has persisted with this technology.
shhhh the "in the knows: know ;)
a lot of it I think was to do with patents that belonged to sintefex I believe and have stopped others pursuing the technology
@@TheBunkhouseStudios well that sucks :)
@@bontempo1271 yep! 😔
you can use liquid mix with thunderbolt4 port on recent laptop...with thunderbolt to firewire adapter from apple
I killed a unit with a usb-firewire adapter a few years ago. I'd be careful with this
Great Video!
Thanks! :)
Give this video a thumbs up and leave a comment if you enjoyed the video! And don't forget to sub :)
bought liquid mix the same like Yours few years ago with no info that it's unsupported at win10. Still in the box, it's time to try this badass :D
Unsupported but definitely still working! Here's hoping it continues to work under Windows! Have fun with it :)
Thanks !!!
THANK YOU!!!!! This worked for me on Win 11 64
Glad you got it working :) It's well worth it! And good to know it's still working on 11 - I figured it would as 11 is very similar to 10 under the hood.
@@TheBunkhouseStudios I appreciate your help, now I wish I had the same success getting my UAD Quad PCIe to work with a Ryzen based PC.
hey thanks for the very detailed video on this great hardware, any chance to fix the custom snapshots link, currently it is broken, thanks!
Hey since im on a Laptop i cant use a PCI Card. Does a FW-Usb Adapter work?
Ciao, how to manage the option "clip on dBFs", only estethetical option ? About the clipping limit of the input meter of LM, when is on is the performance compromised because out of linearity response or is it possible to generate hamonic components linked to the vintage flavour of emulated gear when it work in that "border line" zone of the input level ? Thanks much
Hey Mark wanna say a big thanks to you mate. on day three of trying to install lm32 I finally manage to. It wasn't recognised with ti drivers as soon as legacy fw was installed was plain sailing, happy cat right now. Bought on gamble that it would work and with your help cracked it. Yippee 2024 windows 10 just got new pc gonna try win11
👌🏽🙌🏾
fantastic, glad I could help! enjoy your liquid mix!
Hey dunno if you can help?.... so I got a newer pc ryzen 7 w10 everything is installed like on older previous pc (ie firewire legacy driver) have tried 3 different firewire cards ... (ti and some others) but when prompted to connect lm32 to pc no hardware is found!... stump as its still working fine on older pc!
Any would be appreciated thanks.
Regards le
Problem solved..... took the firewire card out of the old pc... doctored the fitting.... hey presto!.... up an running again!... whooop!... that was the fourth firewire card I tried.😂..Happy me again 🙂👌🏽
@@masterlee9057 glad you got it sorted!
very interesting video, will you be covering similar products with other daws?
potentially yes!
Thanks a lot for this - Ive followed all the steps and I seem to be almost there, but using Jbridge in Studio one the controller never seems to recognise that Ive opened the plugin - just says 'No Active Plugin - Waiting for Loaded Plugins', Ive installed legacy drivers and Liquid Mix shows up in Device Manager and is working properly. Any suggestions?
Reinstall the lm32 software
Everything shows up but it say No Liquidmix detected
Ciao, great video ! Do you know if it is possible to use TWO different liquid mix at the same time, renaming one and using two firewire ports , in the same daw ? Is ti possible to share some user preset ? I searched on the web but nothing, very strange ...Have you anything for us ? :-) Thanks much
I've no idea to be honest! In theory I don't see why using two wouldn't work. I actually have a second LM so might try myself, but hey if you have two already I'd say go for it and try it out!
@@TheBunkhouseStudios not yet tried for the power supply adapter to find it (lazy :-) ), have you tried it ? Ciao
i have two I thought you can't run two at once? [tbh i also thought it wouldnt work in windows ten lol so maybe you can?] I need to get one working first I guess let us know if it worked or not lol I want to try and get both working
hi, My Pc was able to recognize my liquidmix 16 but when i go through the installation process where i need to hook up the hardware, it gets stuck there and wont install the driver. Any ideas what am I doing wrong? Thanks
Same her!
Im so close to getting this thing running
there is a couple things in process I'm wrestling with.
Studio one 4 has a built in J bridge
im having trouble getting the computer to recognize the hardware.
Is your computer not recognising it at all? Did you disable driver signing and install the legacy drivers? Make sure you have your firewire pci card set to the legacy drivers in device manager as well
I can see my firewire card but not the legacy driver
That is in devise manager
the actual program is installed in all the correct locations
@@darryld7889 have you installed the legacy driver with driver signing disabled?
@@TheBunkhouseStudios Yes sir,
You can't see it in the devise manager
but my Texas instrument is there.
Hi, i installed the Legacy Driver without safe mode etc, and it shows up. Could this cause problems?
No it won't cause any problems, it just might not work. But give it a go with LM and if it doesn't, just uninstall the driver and try again - no harm done!
Hey there,
what's the model name of your PCI/E TI FW card? And are you using the 64 Bit version of Win 10?
Thank you!
Not sure of the model of the card without pulling apart my PC, but it's just a generic Chinese one. The main thing is it needs to be a TI chipset but other than that anything should work. And yep I'm using 64 bit windows 10!
@@TheBunkhouseStudios exactly Texas Instruments but not VIA?
My windows 10 Machine refuses to see the Liquid mix, Won't even show up in device manager, I tried to force the drivers via device manager with no luck ☹
(I have a TI chipset PCIe card)
Have you disabled driver signing and installed the drivers after doing so? The liquid mix won't show up until you've done that.
I have problem about pci chipset texas intrument icant get in indonesia! Can u give me link whre i can get it?
I would say ebay would be your best bet. Good luck!
@@TheBunkhouseStudios thx man,
Can you make a tutorial for use liquid mix for track audio more then one track?
@@doctormixchannel4751 if you mean using the liquid mix on more than one track in the mix, if you're using it with jbridge there's a setting you have to enable in jbridge to make it work. Otherwise it's just a case of using the 'track select' button on the liquid mix to move between plugin instances
Just wondering if it is still worth installation. I have many of the Acustica Audio Plugins that also do a very good job. What do you think?
Yes definitely! They're still excellent sounding emulations that still hold up well today against other plugins.
@@TheBunkhouseStudios thank you😊 ok, I'll give it a try after not having used it for months
@@virtuoskommunizieren stick with it! It takes some time to get familiar with all the compressor and eq models and start getting the most out of them, but it's worth it!
@@TheBunkhouseStudios well, I'd like to. But I have many crackles while having a buffer size of 512 samples. Yes, still sounds good. True. The emulations can still compete with others from Acustica Audio and others, even though it's an "old" piece of gear. How do you cope with these crackling-issues? Just setting it up with eg. 1024 Samples of Buffer? By the way, still using the Liquid Channel, which is one of my favourite preamps😊 I think, these focusrite-pieces are/were highly underrated
@@virtuoskommunizieren interesting, I've not had any buffer issues, and I run at 512 most of the time. I guess it will depend on the spec of your PC. And yes, I've not used the liquid channel, but all the liquid stuff featured convolution tech by a company called Sintefex, that was very advanced at the time, and still is impressive today.
ive actually got two lm32 [i know i can probably only use one its nice to have a back up in case it dies though being so old lol i have a similar thing with my interfaces ive got a spare saffire 24 in the drawer in case the 40's die on me or whatever]
running fl studio so im expecting its going to be alot harder for me to get it to run but il see if using this tutorial works fingers crossed and thanks for the lesson
the DAW that you're using shouldn't make a difference really, other than with Pro tools you need a VST plugin host, so if anything you should have an easier time than me
hi i get a crash restart when try to update the driver to legacy driver and it wont change... any ideas?
I'm not sure but it might be your firewire card isn't compatible if you're talking about changing the firewire driver to legacy within windows device manager. If you mean when installing make sure you have rebooted into the windows mode where driver signing is disabled. Hope that helps!
yes i disabled driver signing. it crashes even if i try to disable the firecard
@@metalfather8139 at what point is it crashing? Have you successfully changed your firewire card in device manager over to the legacy device drivers?
@@metalfather8139 yes but at what point does it crash? Is it windows crashing? Is it crashing when you boot into windows? As I asked have you successfully changed the firewire cards driver in device manager to legacy firewire driver? Have you installed the legacy driver successfully? Is it crashing after this point? Does your firewire card have a TI chipset? You'll need to elaborate more if I can help you at all.
Why do i need jbridge? Sh6uldnt that come with the unit?
To run in 64bit DAW.
correct
I cannot open more than one instance in Studio One since auxhost crashes.
*EDIT*
Bridgewize is hell of a lot better than jBridge. No setup needed and MULTIPLE INSTANCES!!!
still works ?
@@lcaise Yup! Works like a champ with a TI fw card.
hmmmm ... the Legacy firewire driver ends up with a bluescreeen on my pc :) i have used a card with a via chipset, so now i will test it with a ti chipset, if it dosent work, i want to sell my unit :D
Yep it has to be a TI chipset card, otherwise it won't work. Don't give up on it just yet - I still have it working on the very latest Windows 10 update (had to reinstall the liquid mix drivers in driver signing disabled startup mode again, with the liquid mix installer set to windows xp sp3 compatibility mode with admin rights, but it works!)
@@TheBunkhouseStudios Unfortunately, this has also been unsuccessful so far. With the TI chipset I can now activate the lagacy driver, but the software hangs during the installation of LM. I get to the exact spot where LM wants to install the drivers. Disabling the signature caused a window to pop up once and LM asked me if I wanted to install a driver. This probably worked, but my LM unit still only shows me the start menu and that I should connect it to the PC and Firewire (connect to computer Firewire port, run Liquid Mix Software) Is it the cable? Maybe this is a defect? At what point does LM hang itself during installation? I really did all the steps as described. My LM also lights up and blinks. It looks a bit like there is electricity but no real connection. I was able to open the 32-bit version of the plugin via FL Studio. I can also operate the plugin there, but nothing happens. There I got the error message that the device was not connected.
Hi, the links to your website doesn't work, have you another one ? Do you know if this couple of cables (ua-cam.com/video/GASIuX1mqwE/v-deo.html) could work for Liquid Mix 32 too ? Thanks, have a nice day
Hi yes that's an old website i'm afraid! You can still find the drivers and software you need out there with some googling. Those adapters may work yes, but I don't have experience with them myself. If you're using a laptop with no firewire ports that's probably your best bet, otherwise if you have a desktop buy a firewire PCI card with a TI chipset. They are cheap and the best option. Hope that helps, cheers!
