Very informative and easy to understand. Because of your tutorial on nebulas, I was messing around with these and I'm really impressed with the power volumetrics have. Keep up the good work!
Not gonna lie, you are truly amazing. Especially for art students: I suggested many friends at school to watch your videos. Your approach to conceptualizing can apply to so varied fields, it's genuinely helpful for process & methods in other creative area. Great content!
This is what i was looking for. I don't have an artistic background, true examples of lighting, compositing, colors explained are hard to find (i dunno why, 99% seems to do only modelling). Thank you!
Thanks for your effort. I appreciate them. I've learned something again. I've been doing CGI as a hobby since 1989, at that time still on the Amiga computer, 4096 colors (12 bit) 😃.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Useful review! (Growing community of inspired creators who are willing to help others is what makes blender so compelling to study)
Excellent video mate. I followed along with your video on volumetrics which was a bunch of fun and taught me not to be too scared of the shader. I like how you combine teaching how to technically achieve something while also talking about how this feature can be used artistically. One thing I'm not sure about is if Eevee is good for what I now use modo for, that is quite realistic large scale outdoor environment block outs for concept art. The scale works well in your abstract scene here but I wonder how a more realistic scene could be achieved. Anyway, thanks for the great content and I'll be back for the next video!
I love how you can describe so well the subject of your videos in such a short time. Another great one. Many thanks. I have been experimenting with lights in my last 2 projects however one common problem arose during the final rendering. Flashes of light in random frames along the video. What can be the problem? I can give more details if you can help.
Very simple explanation, thanks alot! Great work you are doing. Got one question: I tend to use a sunlight in all my scenes because I always think it would be the most natural lighting but things tend to look flat that way. I noticed you only used point lights in the scene and it works great. Can you explain why you choose point over sun and if this would also be viable in a bright daylight scene? Thanks alot in advance!
Do you know if there is a possibility in Eevee to limit the effect of a light to a single object or collection of objects (ie is there a way in Blender 2.8 to achieve what was the "this layer only" lighting control in blender 2.79 and previous? I have been trying to work it out and i cannot find a solution with the results that it seems to me there is no way to achieve realistic lighting in fact in Eevee as the light penetrates objects and lights element that should be in shade or unlit. Grateful for any suggestions or help
Hi Curtis, thanks for your video can I work on this like archviz ligthing for exanmple interior lighting or exterior daylight scene? looking forward for your reply thanks again
Not at all, it's all a trick of perspective, you can make distance objects close to the camera but just much smaller to make them still feel far away, but then if you're going to be moving the camera and want a parallax effect that looks real-scale, you'll have to animate the objects to move with the camera (albeit slightly slower) to make them look far away. If you do this, though, things like accurate voluemtrics and depth-of-field become an issue. If you're not looking for realism, then you can always try simulating a multiplane camera, which is traditionally used to create depth for 2D animation: ua-cam.com/video/YdHTlUGN1zw/v-deo.html
@@CurtisHolt And what an awesome clip! I'm sure I even saw it on TV way back in the day!! And ya gotta love the compelling dialog between the camera operators! ;-D
Nope, they're set up exactly how I had it. Your system may be having trouble displaying voluemtrics. It is currently a known issue that they are not working correctly on all systems. If that is indeed the issue, then you can make the developers more aware of it by sending a bug report.
When you download blender you don't have to "install" it in the traditional way since it doesn't mess around with registry and things, just unzip it and place the files where ever you feel like to put them. Launch the blender executable and have fun. You can save your works as any other software, choose the location, create a folder and put it there. That's all.
This is one of the best stuff I’ve seen done in blender. Simple but impactful

Love this. It's helping me to light my outside city environments. More tutorials and discussions about this would be really appreciated.

Love the pacing of this video, the summary at the end was the cherry on top
Thanks Curtis, that was a very interesting and thought provoking video. I'd enjoy seeing more on compositional elements.
You really deserve more visibility, great content! Keep up the good work

This is a sorely needed subject for EEVEE. Thank you. Subscribed.
You are an Eevee Guru.
The compositions were so pleasing to the eye!
Amazing!

Woah, you've done a lot for the blender community!
Thank you so much, quick videos that goes to the point quickly like this are the best
Really nice and succinct video here. It's helpful to note that these are great tips for any 3D package.

I've watched a few tutorials on atmospheric lighting, Not one used that node, amazing!
Perfect. So simple and concise. Exactly what i'm looking for.

great study and tips! thank you! :)
Can you possibly do tips for atmospheric lighting for cycles?
Thank you very much! Tremendously useful information. Subscribed.

Thank you so much!! Extremely helpful!
Incredibly insightful!
Excellent video!
Soooo cool, thank you very much for techniques and ideas!

thank you, very informative, great tutorial
Thank so much for this!
Very good video, I liked it !
That's what I'm looking for. Thank you.
thank you, great tutorial!
Очень выручил тутор, спасибо!
Nice video.. could you do a tutorial for architectural dynamic facades
Thanks for watching - I'll add dynamic facades to the list of ideas :)
Great video. Many thanks for sharing.
So helpful
Thank you so much ☺️.
Thank you for watching :)

thanks!! again!!
is there one for cycles?
Yes. So much yes.
thanks you!!!

this is so good thank you
Another great video! I have a question about scale in such environments. Is is necessary to have object at real world size to get good results?

The files I downloaded look nothing like what a I see in this video. Do I have to activate anything else?

If you are not using 2.8 the files can look broken
What is the ambient song name?
Who to make thses types of lightning @0:50
hello, sorry I'm new to Blender could you tell me where I can save the files and what is the installation route ?

As of 2.81, the multiply node has been nuked and I couldn't quite replicate the same effect, but I'm still pretty satisfied with the results!
Awesome! :c)
Fucking incredible...
commercial use? the lighting templates not the meshes in the project i mean...
Your blender looks very different can you make a vid about it
Just download blender 2.8 beta :)
