Can't believe all the hate towards Tom. He still sings and plays great. Losing the visual of the headbanging is very unfortunate. When I saw them in 2009 they opened with this song...the arena is completely dark and then the band appears instantly kicking off this song. The image of all of them...synchronized headbanging with smoke everywhere and the audience going bonkers. That image has stayed with me since then for some reason. Lots of bands headbang during shows but Slayer somehow brought so much more intensity with it. Yeah, it blows he can't do it now but you can't blame a (near) senior citizen for not being able to whip his neck around like a thirty year old anymore. Thanks Slayer for all the years of amazing shows.

Yes yes yes ... but this is one of these songs that you prefer to listen in studio version ... because of vocals ... Lowering practically 2 tones of intensity in the way of singing distorts it a lot, and this has been the cross for so many metal bands along the history ...
Ok I'm clearly overly analytical but this song is in C#, Kerry changed to his white BC Rich which must be in that tuning, but the guitar Gary has was used in Eb/D# songs so did he use a drop tuner for this? Ha ha yeah nerdy question.
In his defense, if you look at some recent interviews at the time of this video, and even now, he says the big thing that changed it for him, was losing the ability to headbang. After his surgery he was told, "Nope." So even though his passion has fizzled out on stage, it wasn't that he lost interest, more that it was taken away from him :/
if he couldn't scream his balls off then he wouldn't have at the end of the song, it's not that he can't he just doesn't want to for whatever reason; saving his voice, doesn't care, no reason to... we don't know his reasoning but he clearly still can, it's a matter of choice.
