Dave Lombardo is a fantastic drummer, but I must say that the way he added extra kicks after 1:12, it really messed up the sound of the riff leading into the second verse. I think he dazzled up the sing unnecessarily, in my opinion. Dave is really something else on those drums, though.
I prefer the beat on the album for that part. So does Kerry King by the looks of it... shaking his head like that as they go into it with that beat lol. I seriously started laughing as soon as I saw that.
@@waltermoldren4991 each to their own! I just always felt that the ride is the thinnest and smallest sound you can get on the drums and that the riff deserved balls to the wall half time behind it. Different types of energy behind both types of beat. Interesting to hear it in different styles!
@@gcarter948 i kinda do like it too... i mean... i love the orig beat... but it was more or less a joke because you see Kerry King shaking his head as they do it. i think that's hilarious. like he hates it and is saying "no".
This song is absolutely incredible. It should be forbidden to die without having enjoyed it live! During the last part the crowd always gets crazy; and suddently everybody screams ''Blood is cheap, it's everywhere!!!''
Jeff Hanneman- one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Probably rocking out in heaven with Neil Peart and Glen Campbell as we speak. There has to be a reason all those guys were taken from us too early and I like to think it is because the Lord needed help with a sound track for the apocalypse.
I remember there's some 80s metal doc where the interviewer asks Tom Araya how he feels when people say he sings like a pig, he laughs and says something like "I thought it was a stuck pig.". The older I get and the more I revisit Slayer, the more I think his voice is so perfect for this music. Like you say, spot on.
he could make a lot more of an effort and really come up with some good own solos instead of this generic shredding. It's always the same. He shreds totally random and ends with a pinch harmonic in 80% of everything he plays. I enjoyed Jeffs improvs but with Gary I just wait for his leads to be over already. Gary is extremely talented, but his lead work with Slayer neither does justice to his own skills nor to the songs he plays.
be that as it may. I have reshaped a couple of Slayer solos to fit into the major scales myself and still resemble the originals. It's not that hard. However Gary just seems to shy away from every effort he could make to play anything useful there.
The whole South of Heaven record was brutally perfect. After it came out, that tape didn't leave my car stereo for 2 months.Great upload of a killer performance.
timmyboy1970 hey thanks bro. Wow, u must be a godamn genius. Correcting grammar in the comments section of a Slayer video! I bet u got your ass kicked at school.
They look rather menacing performing together don't they? This is the "Big Four" The original Slayer lineup, this is benchmark mark Metal at it's finest 🙌🏾🤘🏾👍🏾🔥
I saw these guys open for Judas Priest at the San Diego sports arena when this album first came out. It was the first time I saw an actual metal band at an arena show. When slayer finished there were no chairs left on the floor! Epic Performance
My first introduction to metal was through Metallica, my uncle is a die hard fan. Later sometimes in my metal journey I found Slayer and I think they clearly stand out of all the other so called “Metal” bands, I’m not demeaning anyone but those bands sacrificed their originality and deviated from the core metal architecture. Slayer, from the very beginning kept up the spirit quite well. Hats Off Slayer, I love and respect you guys
When others mention the 'Big Four', they're talking about 4 different bands. For me, the 'Big Four' are these gentlemen right here.
The big 4 are Dave lombardo arms and legs when he plays🤣
@@panzeri209 lmao
Amen!
Slayer is number one metal group of all time right behind is pantera
👏😐 said right! 👍
The real Slayer
Hanneman's constant ramped up solo at the end is awesome.
Great detail. Adds a lot to the song.
Damn this song sounds better live than on the album. Brutal!! 🤘
No shit lol
Now I do have to say that the album version is a killer. His voice is amazing
Way the fuck heavier
He messed up the lyrics to the second verse though. That’s the only knock I have against this version.
Everything from Slayer sounds better than in studio !
Tom's bass line can summon a thousand dragons hahaha
Or mortally challenged demons
We miss u jeff rip..
Tanju Çolak RIP JH....
Yes, May he rot in hell like all of us 🤘🤘😈
Only Iommi has written more ominous riffs than Hanneman.
Tom sounds better to me here than on the record. That's insane..
Also like the way Lombardo mixes it up.
Dave Lombardo is a fantastic drummer, but I must say that the way he added extra kicks after 1:12, it really messed up the sound of the riff leading into the second verse. I think he dazzled up the sing unnecessarily, in my opinion. Dave is really something else on those drums, though.
Well that is from different tastes, cause i love how he adds more kicks
Tom is a pro. Absolute boss!
@@nckhedCuando el batería de W. A. S. P. iba como un cohete 🚀 la de Slayer ¿iba como una tortuga 🐢?
2:21-2:29 One of the heaviest riffs ever with that drum beat behind it. Wish this part was played more often!
this riff good too ua-cam.com/video/YBbD75tOwfk/v-deo.html
literally so much better

My all time favourite Slayer song !
Reminds me back in the day when I was in the Air Force overseas in the Philippines 1985-1989 good times and lots of metal
That was definitely a good time and today’s military will never believe or understand Disney land for adults 🎉🍺💃🏾👯🥃
One of my favorite songs. Don't know the groove, drum, lyrics, riffs, solos are perfect.
👍🔥
R.I.F.P JEFF!!!! True SLAYER LEGEND
Dave fucking Lombardo - there can be only one! Same with Jeff.
👍🔥
damn Slayer is killing it in this performance😝🎸🤘
Toughest line up of musicians ever and will never be equally.
Zeppelin and aerosmith in the 70's.
Sodom
Chills running down my spine. F’n Slayer!!
Sheer unadulterated brilliance.
IMHO, the best Slayer song
Best Slayer lineup ever!!
Jeff hanneman literally has a SS guitar
The_OGHD 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
god i feel Tom's pain not being able to headbang due to multiple neck surgerys from excessive headbanging throughout the years
The last bang
I thought it was due to a rear-end collision with semi truck.
Hanneman, Araya, Lombardo & King, the big four of thrash metal.
good ol Tom messing the lyrics up. Classic SLAYER show!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!
Jeff Hanneman- one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Probably rocking out in heaven with Neil Peart and Glen Campbell as we speak. There has to be a reason all those guys were taken from us too early and I like to think it is because the Lord needed help with a sound track for the apocalypse.
toms voice was spot on
Davo george he sounds awesome here
Davo george
He fucked up the lyrics though. But you are right, he is on it.

Lombardo has put god work in to this here. His syncopation and chops are on point.... despite KFKs disapproval.
Lombardo was the best part of slayer
I wanna hear slayer and priest do a song together live, how about dissident aggressor
Music of my youth
Wow you can actually hear the bass. Rip Jeff.
Wow! This is like one of my favorite live version of this song. RIP Jeff Hanneman!!
Mix is perfect!
this is the best I've ever heard this band. RIP the original band.
Certified Gold!!!!!!
The Big Four- Araya, King, Lombardo, Hanneman
One of my all time favorite Slayer tunes.. Actually the whole CD is awesome, seen them live at the Aragon 1st year this was released...
R.I.P Jeff
Miss the original lineup 🤘🤘😈😈😈
I dont think in suicide. Never. Ever. But i love this music
10 out of 10 I believe thats all the original band members. What a performance
You’re correct!
Happy Birthday, Jeff! We fucking miss you!
Slayer is Araya/Hanneman/King/Lombardo. Anything else is a cover band.
Well lad, Hanneman is in the underworld
except for Gary Holt always playing the same kind of random leads in every song, gets kind of annoying after time
