      A 620 isn't overkill for anybody with arms. It's a great mid sized saw. I don't know why anyone would use anything smaller if they aren't in a tree. Who cuts up 1" branches all day? You stack the crown in a pile and burn it.

    My Echo journey started with a CS400 from home depot, had a new property with many trees to deal with.... After seven years, learning to climb, and working professional tree industry stuff, with other saws.. I still run my 400, in addition to a 2511t, 355t, 600p, then recently I found and rebuilt a 800p.. All amazing machines, for price and ease of use.... Echo should not be overlooked..

    Thanks for making the video. I have several echo saws now in the mix with my Sthil saws for my tree service . I got a cs490 at a garage sale and have tortured it for about 4 years and it still going so I bought a cs590 Timberwolf and it’s great. I didn’t realize I could buy a better/ pro version of the two but now I will be as soon as I can find them. I did buy a cs310 for the wife . I found out about the cs3510 a few hours later and went back and exchanged it. It’s a great little saw and hell I borrowed it for a few days when my shoulder was acting up. I then went and bought a 355t ,2511t and a pole saw to replace some worn out Sthils. I’m really liking the echo products so far!

    Six months ago I thought Echo was a cheap copy, until a dealer said they were the best they sell. I tried the cs 490 and absolutely fell in love with it! Then I bought the little light weight five pound 2511 top handle and wondered if I should have bought the harder to find rear handle model instead, so I bought a rear handle also to compare. Of course I'll keep them both but I wonder why the rear handle 2511 isn't the more popular one as I like it a bit better. Then I went in the other direction and bought Echo's biggest, the 7310 and was amazed at it's power but the smaller saws are so easy to use I will save big boy for jobs where it will be needed. I then figured I had a small gap in my sizes so after a little research I orderd the 3510 which I will get this week. I'm not even in the cutting business, I just own twenty acres in the country and love to clear dead trees!!

    I have the echo cs400 and the 500p. I love them. Just had to do muffler mods and remove the factory plastic limiting sleeves on the carb jets
    Mod the muffler and tune the carb on a 500p and it’s TOTALLY different
    And in the winter they are VERY cold natured saws (even before I modded them) Using the little plastic flap for winter/summer REALLY helps when it’s below 25 30degree
    The echo cs400 has a little rubber piece like a plug. Instead of the plastic flap
    Move it 90degree to the little holder and it’s good to go!
    GREAT VIDEO!!

    I'd have liked too seen the 400 and 7310P in this video. I have the 501P as my limbing / small diameter wood saw and the 620P for the big stuff. Excellent torque. The pro versions also have unlimited coils, two piston rings and better carbs as well if I'm not mistaken. The 620P also has a magnesium clutch cover and dual dogs, the 590 is plastic and a single dog.

      I have had my cs400 for a little over 4 months. I've run about 3-4 gallons of tru fuel thru it and did muff mod and carb tune after about 1 gal. It pulls the 18" bar like a champ. I keep the chain sharp to help get the most out of it and it starts and performs excellently.
      It goes thru fuel a bit faster but it seems commensurate with the power gains. It is a bit louder too.
      Its a nice light weight saw that wont tire you out.
      I have an old McCulloch 610 and wish it had the ease of starting that the echo has.
      I would reccomend this saw to anybody that wants a good quality assembled in USA saw. And although not absolutely necessary, I would also recommend doing the muff mod/carb tune to experience all that this saw can offer.

  • @bmfilmnut
    @bmfilmnut 3 роки тому +5

    Thanks for this excellent review. It's very helpful. I didn't see you mention one critical difference between the CS-590P and the CS-620P (maybe I missed it). That is that the CS-620P has a magnesium clutch cover instead of the plastic cover of the CS-590P. For me, that's a big difference. And one nit-picking note: You mentioned that you were going to take the 20" bar and chain from the 590 and put it on the 620 so you would have an exact comparison but then you said you put an 18" bar and chain on the 620. Maybe you just misspoke. No big deal at all. I just thought I'd mention it. Thanks again.

    I bought a CS620P and this thing is a monster. It eats more wood than the town's lady.
    All jokes aside, this saw is a beast. I use for everything but overhead cuts.
    The one thing I'd prefer they had is an easier and quicker access to removing the spark plug. As it stands, you need your torx 27 to unscrew the 3 bolts holding the cover on. But if you're accessing the sparkplug in the woods, something ain't right so it's really not a big deal.
    Honestly, if you have the money and the strength, get the 620p, no hesitation, you'll be ripping all day with a woody!

    • @chad1755
      @chad1755 3 дні тому

      @@RunninOnCoal62cc isn't even that big of a saw. I wouldn't consider much smaller for general purpose work tbh. I have a 58cc and a 71cc saw and I generally reach for my 71cc for ground work, unless its in my mill. For firewood and felling, unless you're a smaller woman, there's really no reason to go any smaller than 60cc -- you're just making it harder on yourself. The less time you spend cutting the easier it is on your body.
      The smaller saws are nice for construction projects and fence posts, etc, but not for any serious cutting.

    I thought the first two chainsaws you mentioned had a safety chain on them that was a step up or mod to what originally came with them. The 91 CX, if I correctly understood you. Am I incorrect or did I misunderstand what you said, vs what is written below the video? Thanks. Nice video. I have a CS 310 and am looking at possible bar and chain improvements on it. It has a 14 inch bar and the chain is what came on it.

      They come with a 91PX chain, which is considered to be a safety chain. I'm not sure what the full chisel number is, but it will improve performance going to that style, vs what comes from factory on them.

    If anyone had to choose would it be a cs490 or cs590?
    I don't have money to buy new and do not want to buy chinese clones. So a local small engine shop has used $130 cs490, $200 cs590, $350 cs680. What would be the best of these for Colorado mountain cutting at 10,000ft?

    You don't have the 4910. Was that due to availability? I'm curious to see if it out performs the 501 since the 4510 runs with it. Thanks for the test you did a great job on the video! I know you said you like or at least use the 501 a lot but what saw would you recommend for an all round saw with plenty of power?

      The CS-4910 wasn't out yet at the time of this video. Once I get my hands on one, I'll do a video comparison of the CS490, 501P and the 4910. From my understanding the 4910 will be pretty much the same saw as the 501P, just with a few plastic items on it, like the wrap handle. Other than that, I think internally, they will be the same. If this is the case, I would get the 4910.

      The MS250 is a great saw as well. But I would still pick the CS4510. If you just look at warranty alone, 5 years on the Echo, and only 1 year on the Stihl. Or if you're commercial operator, 1 year on the Echo, and only 90 days on the Stihl. I can't speak on pricing, as I don't know where you are. But everything else is quite comparable.

    • @echocanadawestern644
      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому +1

      A lot! Very different saws. The 400 has the smaller chain, so it will seem to cut a bit quicker in small wood, but will struggle in the larger wood, where the CS4510 has the next size up of chain, so it will handle larger wood better, as well stay sharp a lot longer, in equal conditions. If you go to Echo's website, you can compare them side by side for specs, but to simplify it, Echo has 3 size classes of saws, small wood, medium wood, and large wood saws. The CS400 is the largest of the "Small wood" saws, and the CS4510 is the smallest of the "Medium wood" saws.
      Sorry for the long winded answer though, I hope I assisted and didn't make things more confusing!

      Then there's either something wrong with the saw (carb adjustment, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter), or fuel, or starting method. I've never had difficulty unless I have bad fuel with any of our products out of the box. But even fuel from the wrong season can cause starting issues.

    • @briangroth7183
      @briangroth7183 3 роки тому

      It's brand new out of the box and I'm using brand new ethanol free premium gas and Echo's 2 stroke oil. I've come to the conclusion it fluids its self after I shut it off for any long amount of time. After I let it sit for a half hour the spark plug is wet with gas. If it's the Carb it's not idling to high and when its running it's not dying while idling. Every saw I have ever used started just fine with the drop pull start method. My foot is to big for manufactured recommend start by setting it down and putting your foot in the handle.

    • @echocanadawestern644
      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому +2

      @@briangroth7183 To me it sounds like starting method. If you say fuel is good, saw is new, saw runs good when it's running, then you've just checked all the boxes that there's nothing really wrong with the saw. I am working on a starting procedure video in the next couple weeks. But in the meantime, pay really close attention to when you're choking and starting. You may be missing the kick (when the engine kicks over and dies). If you pull it even once more after it kicks, it floods. Drop starting is hard to notice the kick, so try and pull it twice with the choke on, then turn it off, keep it on high idle, and pull it again. All new saws, and any 2 stroke equipment flood quite quickly when they are being started. Could just take some getting used to, and make an adjustment to your method.

No need to have a super small saw cuz u will struggle with bigger pieces or have to get a different saw. The 50 can just handle everything and only use 1 saw for the job.

I had been using a Stihl chain that I had sharpened several times (sometimes at a shop, sometimes with my own electric chain sharpener), and there's no comparison -- the new chain cuts much better and holds its edge longer. We'll see how the new chain holds up when it needs sharpening, but for now I'm happy.
