So many themes came back… it was brilliant! I wanted to believe Murray Gold's return was just a rumour, so I ended up having quite a blast with his music again!
I nearly cried when hearing this during broadcast. This nostalgic, heartbreaking variant perfectly emulates the previous eras and the Doctor as an overall character. ❤️💔
I welled up inside hearing this tune again. It reminded me of playing the series 2 cd when I was a kid, and the original from that was my favourite. Cut to in my 30s now, hearing this slower, somber version and i can't help see my own reflection in the tune too. Ive been through it, grown up since then, and a little more sombre than my younger self. Just glorious work from Gold.

Was great to hear these themes! Would be great if you could upload some of the Locked On and All the Strange Strange Creatures we got in this episode, and the other version of the Doctor's Theme when hes using his screwdriver.
Can you tell me where we hear them ? My headphones broke and I am doing all this with my crappy monitor sound it is really hard to hear the soundtrack.
Honestly this was one of the few good pieces in the episode (this and some of the new variations of older tracks, and the music in the TARDIS at the end was nice!). I loved the episode itself but the music itself was mostly unremarkable, nothing bad at all, it all works perfectly fine but it's just lacking what made a lot of Murray's older work so good as well as Segun's work. I know this is probably a controversial opinion but it is how I feel.
@@coolstuff1959 oh I think Murray is talented but I don't know what else he has left to offer Doctor Who and yeah, a lot of his weaker tracks come from his latter years as composer which does tie into that, and that makes sense since he composed for so long, anyone would experience burn out after over a decade of composing. I just wish we got someone new and fresh, there's a lot of talented composers out there.
@friendlyotaku9525 the Kiners have been consistently composing for star wars for well over a decade at this point, but their work isn't suffering. Although that maybe because there's 3 of them.
@@friendlyotaku9525 Kevin, and his kids Sean and Deana. I doubt there's much crossover between Star Wars fans and doctors who fans, so I'm not surprised you haven't heard of them. I know Kevin has been composing for Star Wars since 2008.
I don't want to make non-existent criticisms, I can't even say I was disappointed with the episode. But I have the strange feeling that the music in The Star Beast is handled like a classic sci-fi (i.e. with a soundtrack that is there and can be heard, but which is barely listen), rather than the masterful compositions of the series from "The Christmas Invasion" (i.e. they were one of the most important things in the series)
It's so nice to hear ACTUAL leitmotifs and themes. It's such a well-deserved break from Segun's endless PS2 menu music drivel. I hope him, Chibnall and Whittaker never come back to Doctor Who again.

If you look through the soundtracks murray gold has ppenty of mediocre pieces however the good ones are truly incredible
