Excellent video!👍 The motor fix starts at 2:40. Thanks for posting! ... just FYI ! .. Remember to mark your screw locations so you don't have to readjust it! Some screws have sliding/adjustment slot! 👍 Your welcome!👍
Wife's 2008 kia sorento driver window had issues. Had to bang on it to go up or down. I knew there had to be a fix rather than spend close to $100 on a new motor/ regulator. This process took me about a half hour. All i spent was about $4 on a pack of 320 grit sandpaper. Works PERFECT!!!!!!! I cant thank you enough!!!
Ok one thing....the end of the commutator shaft looked scored and that should be sanded and well-greased. My dealer kept replacing the interior fan motor at $200 each and when it went out again after about 18 months, I asked if they ever looked inside the motor. They said the motors are sealed and cant be serviced. I said bullshit. We opened the motor same as this video and saw that the Denso factory never put any grease on the end of the shaft, it was black-blue scored. We sanded the commutator, cleaned and liberally greased everything, put it back together and it ran like new. The dealer was pissed off that I called them out on this and they charged me $75 for labor even though I showed them how and did the work. Wiper, window and fan motors all have the very same serviceable motors. Wiper motors usually have some grease in them but others dont. Some are easier to get to than others but if you are willing to spent a little time with simple tools you can service all the motors which will then give long life and you can stop buying them. Electric motors, even your blender and vacuum cleaner all operate on the same principles and need maintenance along the way. A little labor on your part can save you a bundle. Im an old guy and in the old days shops always serviced parts, they didnt automatically replace them like nowadays. Some parts are a one way ticket, some can be serviced. Learn to do this, its not hard and becomes a very useable skill. In the case of this job, when you have the door panel off clean and grease every moving part you can find and also the cables that lift and lower the glass. You'll likely see that everything is dry and dirty too. I did one door yesterday and it took me 2.5 hours but everything is like new and cost zero dollars. Three more doors to do!
You're the man. My old fiat x1/9 power window gave it up, and I used your vid to see how to disassemble and test. Turns out the contacts between the leads and the circuit breaker had gone bad, so I cleaned them up, resoldered and I'm good to go. This was a great, clear video and saved me the cost and hassle of putting in a new motor. Subscribed!!
Great video, motor failed on my 02 CRV, after seeing this stripped it down, cleaned everything up and gently bent the brushes inwards. Works just fine now! Thanks.
Thanks a lot ! Fixed my window with 0 money! 1-2 hour work, the only tricky bit was to unscrew one of the bolt which was binding the window to the metal holder!
Damnit sir, this video saved me sooooo much money!!i drive a Mercedes and u know how expensive it can be.cleaning with a razor and sandpaper work! thank you very much for posting
Thanks for this video. I manged to fix the stuck window on my car. The rotor was very dirty and easy to clean, but the hardest part was getting the whole mechanism out of the door panel (the window got stuck all the way down)
Thank you for showing all this - my window still actually works but it's getting very slow/sticky just in the middle portion while raising up. Now I've seen all the parts from this video, I can guess maybe the slider rail needs to be cleaned up a bit. I'm much more confident to go out there and start taking it apart now! Cheers to you :-)
Brother I need your advice and brilliant ideas PLEASE my bro. I'm Michael in England by the way brother and own a 2000 Honda Civic EJ9 Hatchback but right hand drive for the Japanese Market. So unknowingly I've only gone and ordered a Dorman 741-736 window regulator which is for a USDM Honda Civic's (Passenger side) so have just discovered that the regulators motor electrical plug is a 2 pin whereas on my UKDM Civic (Driver side) it's a 4 pin plug. So basically regulator and motor would fit as it's for the right side door, just theres 2 wires and a 2 pin plug instead of 4 wires and a 4 pin plug to connect to my UKDM wiring as my civic is right hand drive and regulators are reversal compared to left hand drives. Any ideas to work round this bro? Damn totally my fault I should've known plugs would be different being that RHD - UKDM and LHD- USDM, Totally my fault 🤦🏼🤣 Your advice and ideas would be greatly appreciated please brother, Kind regards Michael in England
Try and repair the old one, the Civic motor has 2 screws holding a shroud over the motor, take it off, clean everything up and bend the copper brush holders in, as per this video 👍🏼
@@gullyfoyle4527 The motor is working when switch is activated but regulator does not move at all, I need to inspect further but I'm suspecting maybe the drive teeth are damaged.
I just replaced my driver's door motor/regulator two days ago. I'm going to try this on the original I removed, if it works I'll have a spare original for the left side as the replacement was much cheaper material. Thanks
I think one thing that happens to these is the grease in the worm gear area slowly migrates up into the brush area and that fouls up the commutator (shiny segmented round copper contact area)
I was thinking the same thing, I am about to go check on Amazon and see if I can buy me a big pack of Chinese brushes for cheap to keep on hand. I think you can get brushes that are close to the right size and then just sand them down to the proper fit with like some 80 grit sandpaper but be careful it’s like carbon graphite and is really messy
Does it work for all the windows or just the automatic driver window? My rear passenger side window isn’t rolling up all the way and I do Uber. A little nervous to roll it down all the way and then have it stuck more down than it is already.
I opened the motor as u directed in the video. Motor and all pins checked everything is fine . There is continuity but Motor doesn't rotate. I came across a point, i took one magnet and i checked with the magnet of motor. The both sides attract. The problem is one of magnets have changed their poles. Is there any solution?
Sir ji apane bataya aisa kiya magar moter chalu nahi ho rahi hai tavera car ka right door hai usame jo carban aate hai vo chote the to uska solution bataiye please
NO ! DO NOT put grease on the commutator, it needs to be clean to conduct electricity. You will gum up the carbon brushes with grease there. Only put grease on mechanical bearings and gears or parts that carry a friction load.
I'm experiencing an issue with my Toyota's driver-side window. The motor struggles to lift the glass more than 3 inches (although it lowers without any issues). Oddly, the motor works fine when the glass is removed. I even swapped the motor with a functioning one from the rear window to rule out a motor failure, but that didn’t solve the problem. I’ve also checked the window’s alignment, and everything seems to be in place. Has anyone encountered something similar or have any advice? I’d really appreciate any suggestions!
At @2:50 there looks to be a white cloth filter with a black rubber washer holding it in (above the connector). Is that truly a filter for servicing the worm drive with oil or something? Any idea? I'm replacing my snowblower chute motor and probably thing I should waterproof this area.
WOW I took my woman door panel off days ago and said to myself it's No need to buy a new motor for the window. I know it's another way to Fix that thing. I here it click when I press down on it window don't go up at all. Im going to use your idea Bro I have patience So Thank u So. Very Much☺
I don't know how active you still are on this channel. Is it possible for the window motor to completely eat a carbon bushing I take it apart there's only one bushing two springs and the entire inside of it's like splattered with black
Ok you don't explain how insert de Rotor, because the carbons has a springs. In many cars models it's not very simple. I am a power window technical if you going to explain, explain all.
I might have to give this a shot. But my motor is kind of working. It will move strongly for a second, and move about an inch, then it won't work for about a minute, then it will move another inch. It's kind of strange.
hope you were able to solve this but it sounds like a poor connection, brushes, switches wiring, all can be an issue, start with brushes inside the motor, then switches, then wires. moving parts are most prone to failure
"unscrew the two window glass holder screws." yeah, that's gonna be a problem because i can't get the window down to get to them because my motor won't respond.
Hello every body. I had the same problem on my 2006 Nissan Frontier. The window was up and because the motor wasn’t working, I couldn’t slide it down so I couldn’t reach the screws to disappart the glass but I found a solution. I unscrewed the screws on the motor cap, then I turned the rotor by hand to counter clockwise for a few minutes and the glass slided down slow by slow. I am gonna load the video on my channel. It worked exactly like in the video, one of the most useful videos I've found on UA-cam. Dude saved me many Mexican Pesos.

I'm glad I didn't throw away my old sun roof motor. Time to clean this one. Swap out and clean the other one.
I have no idea what's going on but I have a feeling this is gonna work😻
Thask you, this method will be of great help!

Which screw driver is best for to remove screws...
Great Work! really appreciate the effort put into this video
Wrap tape around the bushing end. Chuck it in a drill. Spin it and clean the brush surface with fine sandpaper. Clean between afterwards.
I think one thing that happens to these is the grease in the worm gear area slowly migrates up into the brush area and that fouls up the commutator (shiny segmented round copper contact area)
great job, thanks :)

Hey. Should I use wd40 in rotor as well ?
It's a type 2 wagonr???

Hi i replaced my brushes but opened the gear area of the unit and its working but seems the timing is lost ..please help on how to correct timing

what is the ratio of the worm to worm gear
Phew, finally found the exact same car😩

Carbon brushes can disintegrate. You can usually get them at most hardware stores.
It is good just repaired mine but u need grease or wd 40 for running the motor for me first it didn't work but after wd 40 works like new best.
My car left side power window working slowly and I checked motor then realized heating what is the reason
Tq. Will try this later
Thanks for sharing that
When i press the up button there is a small click from the motor 💔 whats the problem ?

Its unnecessary man. Pop that spring aside, common sense thing. Young DIY gave us very important information. Thumps up to him. 😒Where is your video?
I tried everything on my Corrola Altis, doesn't work, at one point there's a small movement and then that's it, I even put in new carbon brushes
Main Dealers gonna hate ya man but Fck em, Well Done!!!!
Well done
Good
Brilliant
What car?
what is continuity?
With a multimeter it show current wi2pass from start to finish so no breaks etc in wire. Usually the meter will give off a sound light or numbers
