I was literally just going to buy this game and play it this weekend. And here is more content not only of the game but also from Joe. It's like Christmas
Yes! I loved this game, it is legitimately of my favorite souls likes I’ve played outside of Dark Souls. I can’t wait to lose my mind while watching you play it.
I have to say 3 hours in the game looks incredibly dull and like its totally conflicted on what direction it wants to go in with certain elements. The UI seems like a nightmare and there's a line of discovering things vs being utterly confused and lost that seems absent in this game. What about it do you like so much? I'm genuinely curious and not trying to disrespect your feelings. Especially considering my limited exposure at the time of writing this.
Tea Love The UI is actually pretty easy to get used to, but just like with Dark Souls, it takes a little while before it starts to make sense. Also like Dark Souls... the combat is more fun to play than it is to watch. I was definitely lost for my first few hours playing this game. However, over time, you build your knowledge of the world. You start in the swamp and find the Sester. From there, you see the visions of the three bodies and weapons, which hint at where you can find them. You talk to the prisoner and realize you need to find 3 glands in 3 different temples. You wander the swamp, gradually getting better at combat, finding items and using them to figure out what they do, and eventually stumble upon a temple (which will have a weapon in the beginning of it) or new shell, or upgrade. Then you fight and fight until you can get through these temples, and eventually fight their bosses. The game just clicked with me in a way that resulted in a positive overall experience. Once you understand the pace of the combat, find a weapon and shell you prefer, and start upgrading your shell and weapon, the combat becomes very reasonable and the world becomes easy to explore and find new places.
@@_yellow I paid $30 for it and it was one of my favorite video gaming experiences of 2020. It’s stripped back dark souls, but it has its own unique charm and heart. It was a “solid 4 out of 5” experience for me.
@@samlipton7872 I mean I have no direct experience with Dark Souls, the closest I have gotten is the reviews by Joseph. I have thought about getting Dark Souls for a little time but now I discovered Mortal Shell which looks a lot more appealing to me. You say it's a stripped back DS I take that as it being more simple, so I think I'll give it a try.
"From soft... too hard!" Heh. The play by play on this game recalls the sophomoric potential hilaria of adding "-in bed" or "that's what she said" to every third sentence.
stick the disco eleysum streams on another plat form and make a video notifying people of it here. Saves you the hassle of having to edit the video and the audience gets to see it uncut. I hope it's actually that simple lmao.
re: Disco Elysium: copyright music in the dark bit with reptilian brain? in-game audio track or another thing you had playing? is the OST musician actually blocking LPs and such?
@@JosephAndersonChannel I was looking it up and even the devs have acknowledged the problem in their Steam FAQ... Wild. So just to be clear, it's a publisher/YT thing rather than the team behind the game, if I'm understanding all this? Not even necessarily the band but whoever handles their legal/business side?
@@BladePHF I heard the band behind the score is claiming and taking down the streams/videos, or someone from their side. Not sure what fucking good will it do.
I love this game so much the only issue I really found is I really dislike the controller scheme for Xbox, a should be run/dodge, b should be kick, and x should be interact
@@RobertLutece3784 I thought once streams were gone from Twitch they were gone, like on a time limit? I wasn't aware you could re-upload VODs back there?
I like how Joe is confused about what seems like totally intuitive parry timing because of playing Dark Souls, where parrying is the most cancerous shit I've seen in a videogame
Mezurashii5. Dark souls parrying is simple, more fun and interesting. You have to time you parry not for when you press the trigger but for midway through the animation making your skill show out more when you do successfully land it. This adds a bit of difficulty when you do it and it makes it feel alot better when you succeed.
@@J2HATMgoo No it's uhhh... It's a bit shit. DS does a lot of things well. The parry system is not one of them. The only 'souls' game with good parrying is Sekiro, and that's uh... That was entirely built around that system, so I'd hope so.
@@tennoskoom9282. Give a reason. I proved my point prove yours for a reasoned argument because i enjoy ds1 parrying. Its not to generous or to unfair for its timing. It requires patients and carefulness yet a somewhat aggressive attitude.
I wish that chat window was removed, it's just constant spam of irrelevant chatter. It just gets in the way and obscures the picture. It's hard to find any positive for it being in YT uploads, except for ego of some people that want their 'jokes' to be immortalized. At very least it should be 50% smaller and with filtered all entries that consist of just Twitch emote- it's pure spam for sake of posting something.

these were some of the most fun streams i've caught live with you. stay great joe
I'm just here to join the Hellpoint stream chorus.
