No items, Fox only, Final destination. Next Death Stranding stream should be tomorrow or the next day depending on copyright claims. Also I do use some slo-mo while learning the game and then decide not to use it after the early levels. My fellow pedants be appeased.
It is funny to see other people blind walkthroughs after getting every single achievement for the game. You are doing great, Joe! I really hope that you will try to get to the Secret boss sometime later. He is super cool. Also yeah, it is definitely half of the story, but when you actually consider the amount of secret lore and just how much gameplay is packed within this 3-4 hour game - it is still worth every cent i've payed for it. And to get everything you kinda have to play at least twice.
While I do agree that it may feel like half a story, I think the name HAS to be "Katana ZERO" considering what the developer was trying to do. He was always planning to release the second part of the game as DLC (so that buying Katana ZERO gives you the full product), but probably wasn't sure if Katana ZERO will do well enough to make it free or not. Considering the product will still be named "Katana ZERO", it was the only logical choice. Could he have made it Early Access? Sure. But I think that's kind of misusing the EA feature. A lot of games use EA as a way of delaying a game that is already planned out, but I think that's wrong. EA is for getting feedback and fixing the game based on the feedback you get, not to delay the actual release of the game. I'm pretty sure the developer has a clear grasp on what he wants the complete game to look like, hence using EA would be lying to the purchasers. For me, at least, in terms of games released this year on Steam, this one takes my vote for Game of the Year. A lot of people would probably vote Disco Elysium over this, but personally I couldn't get much into that one, despite liking Planescape:Torment a lot.
I think the game is left "half-finished" because the story here is just so focused on understanding the setting, the characters and their history. The game feels like a huge blue balling but I honestly think it's an okay point to cliffhang. Now that I know what's up, I really cannot wait for a sequel.
Benghazi gaming 3 at most, since you won’t know what to do in order to go through the endings; 1 play through for actually learning about everything, letting people talk, not pissing off your shrink, and then killing him 1 play through for pissing off your psychiatrist, being a complete monster, letting your shrink turn into a hallucination demon, and then killing him (I would have said three for the key things, but you could fit that into the asshole route. Especially since at least two keys are dependent on being a prick)
Damn, I'm really disappointed that he didn't fight the secret boss on stream. Hopefully he came back to the game to experience it off-stream, or plans to do so in the future when the dlc/sequel eventually comes out, if it ever does. It's a really cool fight.
Oh my fucking god, I remember asking Joe on Discord if he'd consider playing this back in July and he was like "nah it doesn't interest me that much," and now he plays it. What an indecisive dragon.
Oh god. I did this on hardmode. That last final room WAS NOT FUN. THAT final room, before the bossfight, around 3:52:34 Took me FOUR HOURS to beat. FOUR HOUR! When the entire run up until that point was less than that! Fucking hell! I spent 9 hours in total on this run, in one sitting, falling to my bed tired and exhausted by the end. I'D NEVER EVER do this again, christ
Sorry to hijack your comment section, but I just wanted to drop by and say that you are the greatest presenter I have ever watched on UA-cam. Your video critique on Super Mario Odyssey was extremely well put-together, superbly edited, and clearly had a whole lot of effort put into it. You acknowledged counter-arguments to your criticisms, which isn't something you see often, and even offered genuine reasonable constructive suggestions. You also have such a subtle and dry sense of humor that makes your videos downright enjoyable to watch. I even laughed out loud at the section on the Bench Friends Moon. Even though it was 2 hours long, I didn't think a single minute of your video was filler (unlike SMO), and your obvious engagement with the topic makes the video that much more unique. Thanks for providing good content, and keep on producing, man. :) Also, just so this comment is relevant to the video, "when your cousin challenges you to a game of Smash and you destroy him" 2:13:40
Why does chat keeping acting like this game is the hardest thing ever without slo-mo? I never used it and I got through this game incredibly comfortably.
Well yeah, it's just DLC baiting, which is completely fine IMO. What IS in the game is one of the best indie games IMO, it's just so interesting. The problem is that it'll take 50 years for the DLC to come out.
Man i had the same habit as you, And I stopped it by having fun for a full week because it stops you from worrying about them, And by the end you will have small knifes and stab someone with them... or a way to not get tortured by flex tape.
People give writing of this game more credits than a rich kid in front of metal slug cabinet. It's nice to be ambitious but hard to justify when end result is a story that feels like it was ripped from a trashy 80s anime OVA. Gameplay is kinda neat though, shame most of the levels don't encourage creativity and don't capitalize on good parts of the game.
What 80s anime OVA has lolis, metagaming, AND bathrobes? The story is amazing just from a conceptual view, but the ending is lame because the DLC is the real ending.
@@gu3z185 There's nothing amazing about this story even conceptually. It's just a soup of concepts that are popular in sci-fi, like super soldiers and the unclear nature of what's real or not, which the game waves away with "it's them drugs, I don't gotta explain shit" instead of exploring it.
@@TheRadioSquare It does explore it, you're just expecting to be left without answers. We know Chronos is a drug that grants precognition, and we know that the only way the Precognition is wrong is if another Null knew it was coming enough to dodge it. The fight between Zero and the laser girl is happening in their minds. She says "I've seen you make that mistake 100 times already" before you've even died 5 times through your perspective. If that's not cool conceptually then okay, but I think it's the perfect story for an indie like this, even though shared precognition makes no sense.
@@gu3z185 that's not what exploring something is. Exploring is about taking idea or a theme and using it to make a point or lead you towards thinking about one yourself. What you listed is just plot details, what I'm talking about is taking beyond a thing that just happens.
