Having only 1 liter of blood loss before you die is hilarious, the human body can compensate for blood loss pretty well by diluting the blood you have to keep volume and pumping that blood around faster. The average person has around 5L in their body(Sam should have even more as a big male), and the standard blood donation is around 500mL. People jump onto the meme of Kojima games being "confusing/weird/crazy" with more energy than it takes to actually pay attention to what's happening in the game, it seems. Death Stranding is pretty straight forward and really does go out of its way to explain things as the game progresses. A lot of people seem to act like front-loading every game with lore dumb after lore dumb to explain the unorthodox shit is how stories NEED to be told when all they need to do is be patience and just experience things themselves.
@@chero666 Yeah I agree. I can understand people who like to fully understand things and look really deep for the logic in a story to be frustrated but honesty that sort of person should just steer clear of Kojima. Absurdity comes with his games.
The only absurd thing about this game is that, first it introduces to you all that abstract, weird and FASCINATING ideas, but then after first hour it's all going downhill, very fast... America, politics? Absolutely poor and forced storytelling overall, and then the gameplay itself. I don't have anything against the gameplay or the game but... What was that first part for? For me it was a biggest disappointment for a loooong time, all that hype etc. This game could've have been much better... But that is just my opinion. I still think that it was an interesting idea and I can only hope that the next game (?) will expand on it or once again - introduce something completely different.
@@intheshadowofathousandbean563 politics isn't a bad thing to have in a video game. especially since the politics that it features are not at all partisan ideas? connecting people and uniting cities into a nation is pretty bog standard. but all the talk about America was a bit ridiculous, you're right. but besides that... did we play the same game? these weird and fascinating concepts are heavily elaborated upon, especially things like chiral matter, BTs, the beach, the chiral network, BBs, and death strandings as a whole. a minority of the exploration of these concepts happens in the early part of the game. the majority of it happens later on! EEs are explained in the third act with higgs and amelie. the BB program is only really explained in the third act. in the second and third act with deadman and cliff. death strandings are developed significantly in the second and third act via heartman and amelie. honestly i think a criticism of OVERexpositing on them would be more valid than insinuating they were dropped in favour of politics. unless i'm misreading your comment?

I think its kind of funny that he's upset about the obvious monster product placement but Kojima's games have quite the history of very obvious product placement as do many Japanese games and media in general. People just typically don't notice because the brands were usually Japanese brands or they had to remove a brands name and/or replace it with something else in western releases. They love just hamming that shit up, but none of them have done it quite as well as code geass has done with their insanely prevalent placement of pizza hut
I just love how he plays this game like a total ass and then complains when his poor choices come back at him only to do it again immediatly. Is like the myth of sisyphus.
It's almost like this game has heavy camp, so to enjoy it you either have to engage with that all or find your own fun in a game where all you do is deliver packages.
3:15 I am immediately disappointed the date of birth isn't 10/2 for Space Memorial Day. 53:45 There was over 30 minutes straight where you weren't controlling Sam. Started at 36:00 when you finished your delivery and ended at 1:06:30. 20 minutes where you could only control the camera up until "repatriation" started, then another 11 minutes of cutscenes till you were actually controlling Sam again at 1:06:30. Combine that with the cutscenes at the beginning and you spent over half your time for the first hour doing nothing.
I think if you just realise that Kojima is obsessed with american films and how he only knows how to work with games, that everything makes sense. This is a movie turned into a game with Kojima behind everything.
Chiral matter is tied to the world of the dead, just like BTs, and BTs have a core of antimatter which is why they cause explosions. Those aren't spoilers, they're implied early on, and explain a ton about the weird parts of the game. I mean, right at the start it says that the dead are stranded in the world of the living. It's right in the title. I wish Joe picked up on that.

I know the game’s grown on him, but at the time I found it very telling that Joe got excited at the prospect of combat, like we are so dependent and conditioned for fighting to equate to enjoyment, and need it to keep our attention
Yeah I thought something similar too at the time. But the game just needed something reactive and active to do. Combat is the simplest and expected form of that. Could have had some sort of tense negotiation mechanic but I don't see the game going for that type of stuff. If Kojima said it wasn't a stealth game, jokes aside, it really isn't one. Stealth games would have you use cover and environment to avoid patrolling guards and sentries, trick them, make on-the-spot calls when one's about to run the corner. So far death stranding's only kept the crouching and slowing down part of stealth games.
@@josephandersonchanneltwo8825 It's because you turned off the online/social features. The "walking sim" part of the game is actually a strategy exploration game (if you hit L1/R1 before accepting an order, it shows you the potential dangers and recommended items to craft, so you weigh that against how optimized of a loadout you want to deliver ie. i was pushing 200 kg with bike per run before getting on Fragile Express), with online signs & structures being a variable component to show you shortcuts, hidden locations, etc. as well as encouraging you to also deploy signs & structures to help out other players. You can save players as social links if they've built something very useful and you want that to always load in your game sessions.
I don't think it's that we need fighting for enjoyment, but we need something engaging and the delivery stuff in this game seems like a huge slog without any vehicles. The massive amounts of boring exposition don't help either.

It's like the game doesn't know what it wants. Except tricking you. I don't know.

@@adamtherealone I understood it pretty much immediately, and i've seen many other people do so too, guess its just something some will get
I think its kind of funny that he's upset about the obvious monster product placement but Kojima's games have quite the history of very obvious product placement as do many Japanese games and media in general. People just typically don't notice because the brands were usually Japanese brands or they had to remove a brands name and/or replace it with something else in western releases. They love just hamming that shit up, but none of them have done it quite as well as code geass has done with their insanely prevalent placement of pizza hut
Chat full of people who only like vanilla flavored ice cream
I just love how he plays this game like a total ass and then complains when his poor choices come back at him only to do it again immediatly. Is like the myth of sisyphus.
It's almost like this game has heavy camp, so to enjoy it you either have to engage with that all or find your own fun in a game where all you do is deliver packages.
No one knows what it's like

3:15 I am immediately disappointed the date of birth isn't 10/2 for Space Memorial Day.
53:45 There was over 30 minutes straight where you weren't controlling Sam. Started at 36:00 when you finished your delivery and ended at 1:06:30. 20 minutes where you could only control the camera up until "repatriation" started, then another 11 minutes of cutscenes till you were actually controlling Sam again at 1:06:30. Combine that with the cutscenes at the beginning and you spent over half your time for the first hour doing nothing.

I don’t see what’s wrong with long cutscenes if the gameplay is just as long or longer.
Kojima's games have always had long cutscenes anyway. I believe MGS4 even holds the record for the longest cutscene in any video game.
@@crikeybaguette4564 yeah 8 hours of cutscenes with the longest being about 70 minutes long.
Because if I wanted to watch a movie, or a video, I would've done that instead of turned on an interactive video game.

Ok time for walking simulator kojima edition
Turns out it's a really good edition :P
This game is full of mysteries, but the biggest of them all is what has Monster Energy done to Joseph, why does he hate it so much?
Chiral matter is tied to the world of the dead, just like BTs, and BTs have a core of antimatter which is why they cause explosions. Those aren't spoilers, they're implied early on, and explain a ton about the weird parts of the game.
I mean, right at the start it says that the dead are stranded in the world of the living. It's right in the title. I wish Joe picked up on that.
when deadman talks about central knot being wiped out he uses the term "annihilation" which is used for matter-antimatter reactions
I’m hoping in the future he’ll start gripping the triggers while holding heavy weighted deliveries. You’ll never lose balance doing that
For such an articulate and thoughtful guy, Joseph let his chat turn into a negativity echo chamber real fast. Some individuals were just so smug and conceited about the experience. I've never caught any of Joe's streams, but I hope they aren't all like this.
Nah, his chat is fucking cancerous. You'd think people who watch multiple hour thoughtful critiques of games would have more than two brain cells but apparently they just like being told what to think
@@Lory98 What did I tell people to think?
@@Lory98 When did I say anything about people being negative about the game? I said "his chat". It's got nothing to do with whether they like the game.
@@Lory98 Why are you trying to pick shit out of what you guess I mean? Why not look at what I actually said and work from there? I said his chat is dumb. I meant that his chat is dumb. It's not about them not liking this game and it's not even about this game specifically. He just has a really shitty community on Twitch.
@@Lory98 I mean they parrot anything he says (joke or not) as if it's true. They expect everything in every game to always be fully explained at all times (but complain if there isn't enough gameplay) and if anything funny happens they don't shut up about it for the next twenty minutes. Not to mention the incessant shitty memes that haven't been funny for half a year, never mind when you have five different people saying them every minute.
Why are you trying to convince me that actually I don't hate the chat? I'm not going to change my mind that I find it insufferable. It makes these streams unwatchable for me and that's how I feel regardless of whether you think it's good or bad. I'm glad you can enjoy the stream despite it. I can't. I know the game’s grown on him, but at the time I found it very telling that Joe got excited at the prospect of combat, like we are so dependent and conditioned for fighting to equate to enjoyment, and need it to keep our attention
Well to be fair the walking deliveries never got better for me. The delivery sections were made good by the usage of vehicles.
