I was lucky enough to buy the first coupe from my local dealer back in 2006 and I still own it. It has been very reliable and although it did not need it I had it resprayed a couple of years ago to give it a glass finish. I had an F Type R for 4 years but although I am a die hard Jaguar fan it was never to my eyes as handsome or as relaxing to drive. The reviewer said the XK was not as popular as it could have been but they sold better than the F Type has. They should bring it back and soon.

Jaguar still have the knack of making a beautiful and desirable sports car. I love the lines and proportions of the XK, it manages to look handsome and powerful but understated at the same time. Not shouting"look at me everyone", it's an English gentleman. Damn, I want one!

I've had 2x 2007 XK`s and just bought an XKR 2007 fantastic car. Only problem with these cars is the ridiculous car tax £600 a year and i use it as a 2nd or 3rd car approx 2000 miles a year.

I have a 2010 5.0 XK Portfolio convertible, which I have owned since summer 2018. The 2009 refresh looked much the same on the inside (slightly less pretty on the outside), but was actually a far higher quality place, with most of the switches and plastics improved, and softer leather on the Portfolio and XKR. I keep it on a battery conditioner as it doesn't get used enough during lockdown and likes to eat its own battery, but aside from that the only problem has been a perished windscreen washer hose, which wasn't expensive to put right.
Budget for changing brakes and rear tyres more often than you might expect (though no more often than a similarly powerful and heavy car) and it's an easy ownership experience.

Had a '67 coupe and convertible XKE in the early 1970s. Didn't think there would ever be another Jag quite as beautiful. Love my 2007!

I have a 2007 xk coupe with one rich owner in the past lives in La Jolla, California. I own it for 2 years now and it only had 42k miles when I bought it now it has 46k. This car is a sweetheart. I will own it till I die. It's not gonna rust because it's all aluminum body like an airplane. It's a lifetime car. Even corvette owner admire this car. I used to love corvette but not anymore now. Corvette to me looks like a toy now since I own this car. It's got the power, the sporty and luxurious look while corvette has only the power and sporty looks. F-type is just like corvette. It has power and sporty look but no luxurious. XK will go classic if Jaguar doesn't revive it.

British understated elegance my friend. I have a 2007 slate grey coupe couple months now, ivory, walnut. Coupe is way to go! I was in Pacific Beach just before the pandemic. Good place in the world for one of these things.

A V8 powered British sports car with good reliability and very reasonable mpg, what’s not to like? : Above average servicing and parts cost. Which is a more than acceptable trade off in my opinion.

I am fortunate to have a 2011 XKR Black Pack and Speed Pack. What an awesome car. This Jaguar already a classic. My advice, get one whilst you still can at sensible money.

I have this car’s hard top brother. Bigger wheels, same wood and some options. A few years ago I looked at changing it for a 5.0 XKR but I wasn’t going to gain much. Find a good independent specialist, road tax is high but insurance is cheap, you can get 27mpg on the motorway and average about 21. The gearbox is good for it’s time and the traction control is better than some modern cars (they all have limits though). The electric aerial went on the 2007 model when it moved into the rear spoiler but I quite like the old charm of the Ford Granada aerial. It is quick and comfortable without being aggressive so that people will let you out into traffic. Oh and the coupes boot is actually quite big but forget the back seats other than for small children and the one time I did that the kids told me it was very small in my car. 😃

Hey, I'm thinking about buying a 08 xkr, it's the only one even remotely close close me and it has 100k miles, and it's a reasonable price. Should I have any worries about buying it with that many miles or are they generally reliable? Should be fine as long as I get it inspected before I commit to buying it yeah?

I’ve had my 09 convertible since new and can honestly say that I’ve never owned a better car. The drive is comfortable and reliability second to none. My biggest complaints are that road trips never seem long enough and be prepared to get lots of attention and compliments! The boot is big enough and along with the back seats make the car practical for weekend bags or suitcases, unlike the F-type.

Went to hungarian f1 2 years ago all alpine passes france switzerland austria italy 3400 miles aver 31 to gallon. Left Budapest 9 am 6pm in Nuremberg. Next day 9 to 6 Nuremberg to Calais. Next day Dover to Teesside home by 3pm.

I just got ,after months of research, a 2011 convertible XK. Being a transitional period, it has the 5.0 engine and the older headlights, which I prefer. Even with just the base, non-supercharged engine, it has WAY more power than I will ever use or need.
It's such a beautiful car...imo, it is ALREADY a classic. Thanks for the info, I was wondering why they hadn't gone with a metal convertible roof.

Just bought my son 2007 X150 V8 convertible 13.9K USD. Automatic, with hand gear manual gear options. No aerial. A beauty! Only 47K miles too. Only a broken rear antenna. Love the wood. Is there a way to replace the headlamps w led? Where is best place to find parts when needed for it? Starting with the rear antenna?

I have owned a number of them and the one i have now is one of the last Convrtables built in the UK I am keeping this one because they are so good compaied with Aston and Bentley they are cheap to service and repair Aston three times the price but is it three times better I dont think so Me and My XK are going to get old together and make some great road trips and lovey memories

Wood trim would look better if it didn't look like it was stolen from your grandmas side table. Perhaps some aftermarket trim enhancing would be a good choice? Such a good looking car though. Great review.

A soft top definitely looks better than a hard top when the roof is down, but when it's up you've just got a flimsy fabric roof which eventually gets stained by mold and mildew. They just don't make sense for the British climate.

What a horrible shade of green envy is. They wont get any cheaper than they are now. X100 are going up after bottoming out a couple of years ago. Buy a good one now. Budget to do 1 or 2 jobs a year on it . Front bushes, back bushes, tyres and brakes. Regards oil changes and first jobs change plastic thermostat housing for a metal one and put a trickle charger as low or flat battery brings lots of spurious faults up.

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one were it not for the fact that the ridiculous back seats won’t accommodate my kids, even just for the odd occasion. I’m lucky enough to have other classic 2 seaters. Shame really, I don’t understand what they were thinking when they went to the trouble of upholstering lovely rear seats only to remove any leg room whatsoever.

You showed me and others what you don't know about Jaguar XK's, # 1, the backseat is the reason my wife said buy it! her handbag fits. also, Insurance is about 4 times cheaper with that "backseat". Read up on things before you write about things you know nothing about... Just saying... Oh, I am an owner of a 2007 Xk Convertible, 1 of 97 Winter Gold, enjoying the ride !!!
