Heart are from my State of Washington. This was when Ann was 62 I believe. The guys on the balcony are the band that wrote and played this song. They are honoring them. They are legendary. Also, the drummer is the son of the old drummer who died years ago and he wore a black bowler hat like his dad. The choir all were honoring him and his memory by all wearing the black hat. Great reaction! I get goosebumps every time I hear this.

To add for clarity, those old guys are the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, and they were being honored by The Kennedy Center, in Washington DC.

On December 2, 2012, Led Zeppelin received the Kennedy Center Honors from President Barack Obama. The drummer in the clip is the son of John Bonham, the late drummer for Led Zeppelin. The men in the booth next to the Obamas wearing the rainbow colored accolades are the members of Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin were huge back in the seventies. They influenced many artists in the decades since then, including Heart. Ann Wilson really put herself into this performance in tribute to Led Zeppelin.

Can you imagine the pressure of playing Led Zeppelin’s masterpiece in front of them? There are lots of familiar faces in the audience, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, the Obamas, Bonnie Raitt, Debbie Allen (sister of actress Phylicia Rashad), Tina Fey, Ray Ramano. Before Heart’s performance, Lenny Kavitz, KidvRock and Foo Fighters performed other Led Zeppelin songs, comedians honored Dave Letterman, as well as other honorees.

Hi Blessing, I love your reaction to this video. The first time I saw this was pretty emotional, not only because of Ann Wilson's awesome vocals and the great arrangement and performance by the band and choir, but also due to the response from Led Zeppelin's singer, Robert Plant, up in the balcony. When the camera focused on him and you could see tears welling up in his eyes, I nearly lost it. BTW, just to recap what other people have mentioned...the 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin were in the balcony with the rainbow ribbons around their necks. John Paul Jones (bassist/keyboardist) was on the left, Robert Plant (vocalist) was in the middle with the long curly hair and Jimmy Page (guitarist) was on the right with the long white hair. Their previous legendary drummer tragically died in 1980 at 32 y/o and that was his son, Jason Bonham, playing the drums and he and the choir were wearing the black bowler hats in remembrance of his dad, who use to wear a similar style hat. Also, the female acoustic guitarist is Ann's sister, Nancy Wilson, who is also in Heart. Heart has a lot of great songs and I would recommend checking out a couple of the classic songs, like Barracuda or Magic Man.

Such a touching performance. People were feeling exactly the same way you were. In my opinion you deserve thousands of likes for your reaction. Now I would like to add some background information that I didn't see in the comments. American presidents give awards to artists like musicians, actors, dancers etc. for their contributions to the arts. These awards are given in a ceremony often at the Kennedy Center where this performance took place. This night was dedicated to honoring Led Zeppelin who you saw in the balcony wearing the medals. You only saw the Heart performance of this event. President Obama who listened to Led Zeppelin music when he was growing up gave a great speech about them earlier in the event. I think he also gave them the medals they were wearing. It's on You Tube if your interested. The actor you recognized was Jack Black who also gave a speech about Led Zeppelin. I've been watching a lot of your LZ reactions (I intend to watch all of them)and based on your comments I think you would absolutely love watching their performance of Kashmir live at Knebworth 1979 official video. I know you reacted twice to this song, but not to this amazing live performance. Lastly I would suggest doing a reaction to I Can't Quit You Babe live at The Royal Albert Hall 1970 official video.

Actually Heart was formed in Washington, they then moved to Canada, back to Washington and one of their first big hits was Barracuda. LZ didn’t run into them until Heart was already well established. They do have mutual respect for each other and LZ gave them the okay to play any of their songs.

Heart was a big act , charting a lot of songs in the 1970s and 1980s. Ann and Nancy Wilson are often quoted as saying their music was influenced by LZ. And that they were really big fans of the band. This performance you watched was one piece of a video package from the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors tribute to LZ. It’s on YT. I think it’s around 20 minutes long. You should check it out, fam. ☮️

So apologies for repeating anything already in the comments. This is an edited version for tv, there are better versions yet floating around youtube with the full performance. You should track it down, it is worthwhile, because it is an amazing and wonderful cover. You can see famous musicians in audience digging it (Sheila E, Bonnie Raitt, YoYo Ma). Heart is 2 sisters, Ann (the singer) & Nancy (guitarist) Wilson, longtime Zeppelin fans. Ann was and is a powerhouse vocalist, they've always covered Zep tunes for years and years. The older guys they keep showing are surviving members of Zeppelin. R to L: Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, JP Jones. Page wrote the music to the song, Plant the lyrics. The drummer in the performance is Jason Bonham, son of the original Zep drummer John Bonham. John wore hats that style for a while, that's why Jason and part of the choir are wearing them. Zep didn't know Jason was performing in this tribute, that's why Robert Plant has tears in his eyes, since he was old old friends with John Bonham from pre-Zeppelin days, and Jason is longtime friend too. It was a great night, great tribute.

@@MrsPenPal She's had a lot of plastic surgery on her face and a ton of makeup.
Sadly she let her health go 30 years ago and got extremely fat...then she just kept getting fatter and fatter. Terribly dangerous for her heart muscle and overall health. Her obesity is why she has worn full body covering cloths in almost always BLACK color, to try and give the illusion she is not as fat as she is. I wish she would just exercise and stop eating herself to death. But, her voice is fantastic as always.
