Hello MrsPenPal, I want to say this was a great selection for you to react to...It is a very iconic classic by Led Zeppelin that has stood the test of time!!! Special greetings to you as you continue on your musical journey & recording career!!! Keep up the good work!!!
NICE!!!...Im proud that so many are rediscovering the great music of our amazing past....be ready and make sure your able to hear the piper when he calls....oh and beautiful reaction by the way.
This song is like time machine for me, it brings my childhood back. The guitar solo is spot on right to the heart and can never be duplicated while keyboards shadowing smoothly with the drums attack was perfect and vocal climax are amazingly beautiful. Go to Since I've been loving live at MSG 1973 ..
Greetings from Canada. What you thought were flutes were- in fact- three different recorders played by John Paul Jones (called Jonesy within the band). In the Live version (which you really should view: LIVE MSG, NYC, 1973) he recreates the sounds on a Mellotron (an earlyish synthesizer). Peace, love and bellbottoms. btw NOT your first Zep... you did "Since I've Been Loving You" six days ago.
@@MrsPenPal Starts with acoustic guitar and JPJ’s recorder tracks, the 2nd section also brings in two different 12-string electric guitars. JPJ also starts playing a Fender Rhodes keyboard when those 12 string electrics come in. Jimmy Page used his Fender Telecaster for the solo, plugged into his trusted and mythical Supro guitar amplifier. Not a ton of instruments, but a great arrangement with the ones they used. Wonderful to watch you rock out to music I’ve rocked out to for decades, thank you!
Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! By all means listen again and again. This masterpiece is an introspective examination of the meaning of life and the anthem of my generation. John Paul Jones played bass and 3 recorders. John Bonham played drums Jimmy Paige, who wrote and produced, played a 12 string acoustic guitar and a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar. The tempo increases twice. The solo is considered among the greatest ever and if it doesn’t move you to tears there’s something wrong with you. It should be noted, prominently, that this is a collaborative effort by 4 geniuses. Even more worthy of note in this day and age is that it was all done by hand. There were no beats or samples or computers back then. Every single note is an original creation of the mind of the artists and performed manually. Think about that for a minute. Then listen again. It will take many times to take in all the subtlety and nuance. THIS is real music.
Most of the flute sound was done with what's called a mellowtron organ--they were awesome for duplicating string sections and flutes. Not sure if they make 'em anymore, But I have a Yamaha keyboard that gets the sound pretty close. Welcome to the world of Zepplin, beautiful sister!!
Awesome, Awesome reaction! You broke it down and analyzed it so beautifully! What a great reaction to one of the greatest (if not the greatest) songs ever written. I seen others commenting on here to do a reaction to "The Rain Song" off of the album "Houses of the Holy". Their entire catalogue is amazing, but that could make for a great 3rd reaction to one of the greatest bands in music history (in my opinion, it's a very short list with Zeppelin and the Beatles topping them all). Peace
"Stairway to Heaven" features what can easily be considered one of the top five guitar solos ever recorded. As for the meaning of the lyrics, bear with me a bit here as I'm going to ramble a bit. They could just be another Led Zeppelin interpolation of the J. R. R. Tolkien trilogy "The Lord of the Rings." The lady may represent the character of Galadriel (played by Cate Blanchett in the movies). The pastoral lines about songbirds, looking to the west and crying for leaving, the smoke through the trees and the forests echoing with laughter, the May Queen with a choice of paths to take, all speak to that to a degree. Another heady take on the song concerns the lines about the piper who will lead us to reason and is calling you to join him. The notion of the piper evokes the fable of the Pied Piper. And perhaps that is meant to reflect an aspect of the conflict between generations during the cultural upheaval of the 1960's that extended into the early 1970's when this song was released. But rather than serving as a commentary about the anxieties of the older generation worried that rock and roll would lure the youth away from their moral guidance, the notion of the piper summons the pan-pipes of ancient Greece and with them the nexus between music, poetry, and the love of wisdom i.e. philosophy. And that takes us to perhaps the greatest lyric in the song, "When all are one and one is all, To be a rock and not to roll" -- a line that reaches back 2,500 years to a fragment from the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus: "It is wise to hearken, not to me, but to my Reason, and to confess that all things are one." (c. 500 BC) A variation of that expression survives to this day in the rallying cry, "All for one and one for all," meant as an expression of unity which provides a sense of grounding and identity -- standing strong together like a rock, steadfast and unmoving. But perhaps the line is better understood less as an anthem of solidarity and more in line with the existential understanding which people often glean when under the influence of psychedelic drugs -- that feeling of oneness with the universe and the sense of belonging that feeling confers. Bad trips not withstanding! PS. Major props for keying on the emotional journey taken by the guitar solo! My eyes tear up during that part sometimes too!
I have lived this song since it came out saw them with my dad 7 times but my fiance and me were driving in early Dec 2013 and we were singing it loud in the car a vintage 82 caddy maybe the best moment of my life the next day she was killed by a drunk driver I had it played at her funeral thank you for your reaction pure joy

A great intro editorial into a Zeppelin magazine special says, "Like a Japanese puzzle, each layer of their music unveils an even more complcated portion". or words to that effect.
Jimmy had composed Stairway for a few months...when it was time to record the band played through a few times with still no lyrics...Robert sat and scribbled on a pad for 45 min...they then recorded and wrapped it in 2 hours only...Jimmy said he played the solo 3 times and the just picked the best take...this masterpiece will live on long after we are all gone.
I loved your reaction to probably the greatest rock song in history. Zeppelin sat the bar pretty high as far as layering guitar tracks in their songs. Please check out their first 2 albums.
What a fun an amazing reaction. You just nail all of the stuff. It's wonderful. This is considered one of the three greatest songs in Rock music. And I love how it's still a Rorschach inkblot test because you can read lots of different kinds of meaning into it. But either way it's a magnum opus kind of thing. I could talk musically about it all day long, but I like your observations. They are truly across the map and what they do. But if you want to continue further on this line, I would also say there other early song like this would be a whole lot of love.
@@MrsPenPal oh my, that is an early one, sorry I missed it. Thank you for the link. In that case, if you haven't done Babe I'm going to leave you, from their first album, I bet you would like it. They are using a Recorder 🙂 The song was recorded and released more than 50 years ago. The band was one of the biggest rock groups in the world during the 70s along side the likes of the Rolling Stones. They toured around the world, not just the US. The did all that with skill and talent. That's why you were stunned hearing it for the first time.
I love your reaction to this song. It reminds me of how I felt when it first came out in 1971. There was a lot of very, very good music around at that time, but this song seemed to trump everything.
I first head this song while in the army, taking a cab from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv on a Friday night in the dark. The Mercedes taxi was speeding down unlit back roads, as the song played on. It totally blew me away! Every time I hear it, I can see in my minds eye the experience of experiencing it this way, the wind rushing by the taxi in the pitch black night, me being a 20 y.o. soldier heading from my desert base to a short weekend at home.
You are using one of the best headphones you could possibly use to get the most out of this ( and any recording) . Good job on the review, and your selection of transducer device!
Great reaction, particularly to the instrumental section. Its lovely to see someone who really "gets it". Somebody else in the comments recommended "In My time of Dying", (live at Earls Court 1975), dont be put off by the title, I'm sure you as a singer will love it. P.s, I would love to see some more Jinjer reactions, perhaps some of their earlier songs such as Cloud Factory , Outlander, Who is Gonna Be The One, etc, etc. Turn it up and strap in, Its wild stuff..
Great reaction. If you're going to do a dive into the world of LZ, I recommend starting with album 1, track 1 and just keep going. Almost every song they did will eventually be recommended because everything they did was so unique, a journey, so might as well start from the beginning and hear their progression. ;) I recommend studio versions first then live if you can find a decent video of a live performance of any particular song you like. I say that for a few reasons. There isn't much great footage of their early live performances, they didn't perform all of their songs live and they loved to improvise (never played the same song the same way twice), so studio and live and be somewhat different. Also, Page was a genius as producer and what one hears on a studio version often couldn't be replicated live. So you'll get the best of both worlds. Remember that when LZ was recording, there was no such thing as auto tune so what you hear on a studio version is just how they sounded. Again, great reaction and thanks! Enjoyed it. Rock on! I've subbed hoping to hear regular reactions to LZ. I like your style. :)
A million comments and opinions of this song, and millions more to come as it seems to have an eternal kind of existence that will never go out of style. Great music is great music and can´t go out of style.
Watch them Live. They take it to a whole new level. From Madison. Square garden. Song Remains the Same concert. Blow your mind. They improvise and are amazing musicians.
#1 song in history for over 20 years. The instruments are synthesizer and bass guitar by John Paul Jones, drums by John Bonham, guitar by Jimmy Page. Robert Plant on vocals. All wing instrument sounds are synthesizer.
Great reaction. This song is so transcendent. It not only takes you away to a different place, but then it brings you back and meets you where you are today. The way you were caught up moving and grooving to the music, is how all the young ladies of our time were doing it at the concerts. Great music spans the ages of time and reaches deep inside us. Whether it was back in the 70s, or now in 2024.
In the beginning, tt sounds like several Baroque Recorda flutes or maybe even Pan flutes in combination with acoustic 12-string guitars. Not sure. But, apart from that, thank you so much for the wonderful reaction to one of my most favorite songs! Thanks and God Bless!
@@MrsPenPal wishing you many, many more! You should react to the studio version of Babe, Im gonna leave you or Kashmir? Both are absolutely incredible songs. One a basic blues classic cover, the other a deep multi layered masterpiece.
The pipes & some other instruments were from an an early version of a synthesizer called a Mellotron. Each key had a prerecorded instrument. They were used by many groups like the Beatles & Led Zeppelin.
Now you need to start at the start -- their first song on their first album (and then just go in sequence from there, they don't have bad songs) So, "Good Times Bad Times"
Great reaction, great insight into the lyrics. And an honest response from you emotionally insofar as how the music, moved, swayed and hit you on the deep, soul level. Great.
Great reaction as expected. The song that created the hard rock ballad back in 71. The formula was repeated and toyed with for decades. Time to react to the other great and highly influential song that came out in 71. Roundabout by YES.

Band members Robert plant Jimmy page guitar John Paul Jones bass keyboard John Bonhem drums. Passed away 1980
First time hearing stair way to Heaven dear. Recorders that’s awesome!
@@MrsPenPal Referring to your line below MrPenPal, below the hashtags: "I lost it! My first eve(r) Led Zeppelin!!!"
Welcome to the world of Zepplin, beautiful sister!!
this is the Mona Lisa of rock n roll
Haunting & Beautiful At The Same Time,,
Led Zeppelin "No Quarter"
My eyes tear up during that part sometimes too!
wonderfully stated....!!
Wow this is a sad story. Sorry to hear about your fiancé . Great memories memories with your Dad😇
@@MrsPenPal needless to say the song has great meaning for me I did see Robert plant and Alison Krause last month you should check them out his voice has not lost any of it's quality
They are the GOAT! 64 yo guy here and first heard them in 1969 and fell in the love with the band!
Great reaction! I used to play, sing, write and record music and I feel music the same as you. I feel so much emotion when listening to certain songs, it can be overwhelming and wonderful. I’ve been listening to Zeppelin for 30 years, a great musical journey! Thanks for your honest emotional reaction beautiful lady!
A great intro editorial into a Zeppelin magazine special says, "Like a Japanese puzzle, each layer of their music unveils an even more complcated portion". or words to that effect.
Nice reaction, girl! Yeah, rock music does that to you!
Beautiful song for a Beautiful Woman, Great Reaction Beautiful Woman!!😎🤘❤🔥🎸🎧🎙
Lols thanks Joe 😅 indeed it is a beautiful song 💥
Nice one Steve. Here is Whole Lot of Love reaction:ua-cam.com/video/1jb9GkWkMHU/v-deo.html
@@MrsPenPal oh my, that is an early one, sorry I missed it. Thank you for the link. In that case, if you haven't done Babe I'm going to leave you, from their first album, I bet you would like it. It alternates back and forth between mostly acoustic and then heavy-hitting stuff. But his voice is just incredible.
Hi Blessing MrsPenPal, You're looking radiant and this beautiful music is lighting your soul up! Led Zeppelin was my favorite Rock/Blues band growing up in my teen years. I loved how deeply you were feeling this great music. You were right into that amazing guitar solo and your enthusiastic grooving to the music made me feel like dancing along with you. :)
Hi Matthew thanks Pal. Surely join in the dance. We just premiered Kashmir and that was another experience altogether. See here ua-cam.com/video/gZQsPxugs_8/v-deo.html
I love the way you get into the song. I love this song and I think it's making you get. down with it. Thank you.
Legendary Led Zeppelin! Brilliant band brilliant song!
Thanks Hank Do stop by to listen to my new single in my artist channel:

...whoa...that song is EPIC !!!
Sure is!
Esa canción es un inmortal clásico...
Wow thanks I miss Tati please remind me of this suggestions until I tick it off ✨
Thanks again for your attention to detail.
Wow you are so cute hearing a true classic.❤️
Great reaction. If you're going to do a dive into the world of LZ, I recommend starting with album 1, track 1 and just keep going. Almost every song they did will eventually be recommended because everything they did was so unique, a journey, so might as well start from the beginning and hear their progression. ;)
I recommend studio versions first then live if you can find a decent video of a live performance of any particular song you like.
This song is widely considered the best rock song ever written; performed by arguably the best rock band in history.
this isn't a song.............this is a miracle!
Great reaction ! more Zepplin Please do OVER HILLS FAR AWAY and RAMBLE ON !!
Watch them
Live. They take it to a whole new level. From Madison. Square garden. Song Remains the Same concert. Blow your mind. They improvise and are amazing musicians.
Enjoy the journey as you peruse the LZ catalog. They don’t disappoint. ✌️
#1 song in history for over 20 years. The instruments are synthesizer and bass guitar by John Paul Jones, drums by John Bonham, guitar by Jimmy Page. Robert Plant on vocals. All wing instrument sounds are synthesizer.
You gotta do Led Zeppelin
Over the hills and far away
best band ever, every member is at LEAST top 3 ever at what they do
Yet together they are NUMBER ONE in everything! 😍🔥💞❤️🔥❤️💞😍
Remember when it played for months straight on FM in Tennessee .and later for years with the other things played
If you hear people say, that they don't make music anymore like they used to, this song is one of the reasons they say that.
Thanks for your comment David
In the beginning, tt sounds like several Baroque Recorda flutes or maybe even Pan flutes in combination with acoustic 12-string guitars. Not sure. But, apart from that, thank you so much for the wonderful reaction to one of my most favorite songs! Thanks and God Bless!
The wind instruments are two alto recorders. Greetings from Brazil.
Eargasm acheived! Welcome to the GOAT Rock band of all time. Great reaction.
Oh my goodness that is a perfect word!
@@MrsPenPal wishing you many, many more! You should react to the studio version of Babe, Im gonna leave you or Kashmir? Both are absolutely incredible songs. One a basic blues classic cover, the other a deep multi layered masterpiece.
Thank you RJ
No keyboard, guitars an recorder. Plus four geniuses.
The pipes & some other instruments were from an an early version of a synthesizer called a Mellotron. Each key had a prerecorded instrument. They were used by many groups like the Beatles & Led Zeppelin.
In the '70's'.
Beautiful reactions! You got them all! Thank you for enjoying the greatest music from my generation
Wood flute or recorder, acoustic guitar, Fender Rhodes electric piano, electric 12-string guitar, and of course drums and 6-string electric.
We all have shadows taller than our soul. We can either reduce our shadows, or increase our soul, or accept the situation and do nothing.
A hell of a classic 👌
Guitars-6-12 strings,a recorder, Bass,Drums.
This song is considered one of THE GREATEST Songs of ALL TIME....!!
The Greatest. 😎
. Dazed and confused, since I've been Loving you live version. When the levee breaks is a real soulful song there's so many they are great
Now you need to start at the start -- their first song on their first album (and then just go in sequence from there, they don't have bad songs)
So, "Good Times Bad Times"
Great reaction, great insight into the lyrics. And an honest response from you emotionally insofar as how the music, moved, swayed and hit you on the deep, soul level. Great.
Thank you Philosopher
The greatest song, in Rock N Roll history...😀❤
Chasing Dawn lifetimes on her way to musical fame & fortune. It's about love for music.
Great reaction as expected. The song that created the hard rock ballad back in 71. The formula was repeated and toyed with for decades. Time to react to the other great and highly influential song that came out in 71. Roundabout by YES.
Which ones you have in mind 😊
@@MrsPenPal Roundabout by YES is the one that will help your algorithm and the logical follow up to Stairway To Heaven.
Me? I would have you listen to the 6 minute studio version of Tuck and Patti's Castles Made of Sand/Little Wing. When you're alone with a glass of wine. :)
