The drums are in 4/4 while the guitar and keyboards are in 3/4 time, so they synch up every 12 beats. That’s probably what you were hearing at the beginning.
John could not get the timing, same as with Black Dog, which also has the guitars and drums on a different time. He decided to just play it in 4/4, thus the odd sync up every 12 beats. Honestly, it is part of what makes the song epic, it throws everyone off in a good way. Not sure what Blessing is hearing on the vocals, I don't hear what she described about him trying to sing over a track (like a rapper). Robert and Jimmy both loved this track, they were on record as saying it was a monument in their development concerning writing music. His story telling skills are on full display, similar to stairway. As good as the lyrics are for this song, I think his libs are equal if not better! This song has been reproduced my many orchestras since 1975, some very recent. Fifty more years from now, we may refer to this as the Mozart of the late 20th century
No.. that’s incorrect.. Black dog was off timing on purpose.. this song is different time signatures again on purpose. Same with four sticks.. they did this a lot. It produces TENSION within the song.. which makes it explosive. All done on purpose.
I'm 63 years old & it does my heart and soul good to see any young person hear Led Zeppelin for the first time, to me the best way to really get the most out of their music is to load a bowl kick back and close your eyes & enjoy the ride. From the first time I heard this song it reached something deep inside me, it just feels so sensual.
Fabulous song!! Blessing, if you want to watch a live of this I recommend Kashmir Live at Celebration Day. They are older and Jason Bonham is on drums but they all kill it. Fabulous performance!! I’ll send you a link.
Yes I think this is their best performance, Robert was in a bad place in Knebworth 79 when they recorded this live. I think the celebration day performance was their redemption Absolutely Amazing!!!
The band is best known for Stairway but the band themselves always said their favorite was Kashmir. Its a beautiful thing when music this old can still reach , and touch , someone so young . may I recommend The Rain Song . health and happiness to you and yours
Plant had a great post-Zepplin solo career..to me, many of his solo works sound like what the band would've done if they'd stayed together in the 80's. As for Kashmir, many football teams made it thier entrance song as they charge unto the field, and a few WWF stars as well!! I also recall a movie where the scary-looking bad guys roll up with it playing
Conflicted?? This is a masterpiece everything works together! Jimmy pages hypnotic guitar riff and John Bonham's got a thunder drums and the orchestra was done masterly!
When I was a teen in the 80's, this is one of many songs I would have on when sleeping with girls.. pitch black room with black lights and tons of glow in the dark posters.. lol even had a water bed.
@@MrsPenPal lol. My kids are in their 30's. I would never let them do what I did as a teen or get away with what I did. I would always tell them they were the 2nd half of a double standard and when they become adults they could be the first half.. heh
Robert wrote this song while him & Jimmy drove through the Sahara Desert, it describes what they saw & the people the met. Robert fell in love with Morocco, & still to this day visits often. My understanding, it took a couple years to get the music exactly how they wanted it. Robert & the music definitely take you on that journey, this was the song the band was most proud of.
You really need to listen to the Celebration Day live version. They kill it! When this reunion was announced, 20 million people tried to put in reservations for the show, that is a world record.
in 77' I was in group home. My chola homies played Dixie cups Chapel of love I liked it. Sistahs.. played Commodores and Chaka Khan loved it!! They all hated my Zeppelin and Aerosmith so Thank You I didn't get why can't they hear this like I do you do😂
Imagine a circle. All rock music, all genres of rock are in that circle. Led Zeppelin is circle itself. Love your reactions, keep it going,go with some live versions ,i recommend "How many more times " live on Denmarks 1969,one of their first recorded shows, they were few months together and keep in mind that, for example, Plant was 20 years old then.
Yep, drums in 4 and other instruments in 3. I actually think Bonham used this to effect. If you count along with just listening to him in 4, all of a sudden some of his crash cymbal accents make complete sense.
Please try watching Led Zeppelin live from Madison square garden. Song Remains the Same, Since I’ve Been Living You, whole Lotta Love, etc. and for the best guitar solo ever, Danzed and Confused live from Madison Square Garden- 28 minutes of the best of Jimmy Page
Welcome to Bonham's slight offbeats to create reverberation grooves. Any other drummer can technically drum this in 4/4 but will never ever duplicate his groove. No one will be able to duplicate Bonham. Period. Pardon the language, but Bonham is an effing groove god. Also notice the random double bass, but soft second stroke. 😂😂😂 Amazing stuff.
I know this is a year later but I know what she's hearing. The guitar is played at 3-4 and the drums are at 4-4. So they only sync up on the twelfth beat.
We are quite matter of fact with compliments in this community so don’t apologize I am the chief compliments giver to my PenPals as well. So it’s a sign you are PenPal at heart. Thanks. Is that you and wifey on your profile? If so that’s a great picture
Not entirely true actually, John Paul Jones wrote the score and they hired a small orchestra to play his charts. JPJ conducting. Unfortunately whoever the ensemble was were left uncredited. JPJ does indeed add some Melotron to it, but yeah, that’s real horns and strings going on. I wish someone would ask Jonesy about this. Page likes to leave it all a mystery if possible, but I think JPJ would oblige if properly asked.
if you want the authentic virgin listen the ONLY way is studio studio STUDIO FIRST that is what made them famous the original versions NOT some live thing that came later and is not like theoriginal ever STUDIO FIRST IS THE ONLY WAY TO LEARN LED ZEP =SOME OF THE BEST ORIGINALS EVER MADE !!!

Two time signatures….catches people off guard. 😂 This woman has the most beautiful smile ever!

This is actually Led Zeppelins favourate track of all their music 😊
Thanks for sharing!

The drums and the bass keeps the main rhythm going during the swansong portion. It requires discipline to perform, but it's very trippy.

Gosh wasn't sleeping with girls but the poster and Black light thing we did in late 60s and 70s. Good times.
This was a superb reaction! You brought life to this tune! Now if you are serving 'Meatloaf' with that salad...:P Big wave back to Fluffy! ❤

Kashmir is an all time classic no doubt about that but your mudras and dancing takes it too another level! Really great reaction MrsPenPal!!
You really need to listen to the Celebration Day live version. They kill it! When this reunion was announced, 20 million people tried to put in reservations for the show, that is a world record.
Excellent choice and reaction!! 🙏🙂💜
kashmir live at knebworth in 1979 is great. his voice is more mellow by then tho. in my time of dying like in 1975 mothership video is great too
robert wrote this when crossing a desert in the middle east
D’yer Mak’er by Led Zeppelin is a very reggae influenced song 👍 studio version 1973
Envision yourself riding a camel to a desert. That's the beat that's the vibe.
Watching you react to this song has stole my heart. You are gorgeous. Thank you for hearing music.
Blimey! I'll probably watch this reaction a few more times 😍

Please please react to the live version from Celebration Day, you’ll be dumbstruck at just how unbelievably good it is 🙏🙏🙏
♥Robert Plant and his voice.
Very exotic, almost Middle Eastern urgency.
Not typical Zeppelin.
Kashmir is on the India/Pakistan border. It has a Middle Eastern theme to the music. It takes you on a journey to an ancient place.
You have such a good ear! I love watching those that have a good ear!
Greatest song in rock history.
What a beautiful woman !😊
You definitely have the looks and the persona like you could have lived in that time period.
You should of watched the live version and you’d see everything coming together the vocals and the music
The drums and guitar are in different time signatures at the same time, yes,

You do need a Led Zeppelin shirt. They are the best!

john paul jones was great on this
Watch live. They will blow your mind. From Madison square garden
The studio version is the best version.👍
Or You Shook Me studio version. Funky Blues
It has really nothing to do with Kashmir other than the name. It's Moroccan in style.
Led Zeppelin did not follow standards, they set them :)
You know your stuff.
