    Good video. One thing I would like to add as a lessons learned is to not put the coating removal towels on adjacent panels or on the glass as it will leave residue behind aka a high spot. I recommend placing them on some sort of mobile cart.

      Good point, and something that we talk about quite a bit during our classes. You especially don't want to place them on the windshield.

    Good news is most of today's good coatings are super easy to wipe off due to improved carrier solvents thus making high spots more rare than in years past. Good news you can spot-polish those areas and then re-coat it overlapping the existing good areas and then buff off.

    That was a great video! Very compact with great information and demonstration. Very tidy package. I recently applied my first Ceramic coating and thanks in part to videos like this, it turned out amazing with very little blemishes or high spots. In fact, I only had one high spot I was able to remove easily by applying more product, letting it flash, and wiping it right off. It's very important to get as much light on your car as possible though without having it out in the hot sun.

    Thanks for explaining not only what "high spots" are but that they even exist. I didn't realize this. Now, I'm about to do my first application of ceramic coating this afternoon on my carefully prepped car and don't want to monkey it up with some very avoidable mistake like not properly wiping the coating after I apply it. Thanks, again!

    Just finished applying 2 coats of PA glasscoat and appreciated your tips (although glasscoat seems super easy to work with). Am using cosmic spritz for maintenance (amazing).
    Is it ok to use ONR for quick removal of a bug or a quick clean up from rain and dust in between biweekly washes? ie: does ONR fall in the bucket of quick detailers that we should avoid on coated cars or is it a safe option for a lubricant wash/wipe when wiping off specific areas between washes? If not, what is a good option?
    Thanks

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  4 роки тому +2

      Jim...Glad to hear you're enjoying the PA products as much as we do. If you're simply looking for some spot maintenance, then I'd just recommend pre-mixing a bottle of distilled water, and a few drops of a pH neutral shampoo (like Gyeon Bathe), and use that. If you're looking for an overall car cleanup, I'd just avoid that altogether and wait for your proper wash. The Cosmic Spritz is a superior protection product than ONR...therefore that's what you want sitting on top of the surface and reacting to the elements.

    when leveling the finish, do you want to fold and use a new part of the towel for each panel to a new dry side or just keep buffing off with the same side. thanks

    • @Esotericdetail
      @Esotericdetail  3 роки тому +1

      You'll continue to use different sides of the towels, but it won't work out to a "fresh side" for each panel unless you go through a lot of towels (not necessary).

  • @AK-ui1zl
    @AK-ui1zl 4 роки тому +4

    Being in a rush, using too much product and not using enough towels during the leveling process is what most high spots are born from. That’s why those $500 coating jobs are never good lol.

    • @Esotericdetail

      While coatings will help, there's only so much you can do when it comes to melted rubber! Even if you apply paint protection film with coating built-in (STEK Dynoshield), it will still be challenging.
