11:00 samus is getting charge beam upgrade but if you watch before 11:00, the player is already using charge beam on the red space pirates before getting there...
No torizo battle? Lame. No, seriously, this is beyond awesome and faithfully adapted. Love this. Final edit: I was going to go off on you if you didn't save the dachola and the etecoons, but you did. Certainly. I no longer hate you. :-)
The Space Pirates need a nerf though. No way they should be doing so much damage to you that early in the game considering that they died in Super Metroid to one shot of your default weapon. Also, Red Brinstar is technically Kraid's lair. This is overall a great hack and a great reverse of Super Zero Mission tho and I hope they continue to work on this.
I guess the hack designer was able to reduce their hit points but not their damage output (considering you only really encounter them at the end of the game)
@@j0j0dartiste21 Their contact damage was reduced dramatically, however. It seems strange that they could weaken the damage they dealt on contact, but not the damage of their actual projectiles.
@@wannabecinnabon The only thing that would make sense to me is that whoever made the hack reduced the damage on the Space Pirate enemy it self but forgot that there projectiles have to be weakened separately.
@betchaos7 if you’ve ever heard of the streamer Oatsngoats, he did a play through of SM:ZM Hard mode. Fair warning, it took him like 26 hours to complete.
That was a really intuitive way to cross the style of one with the adventure of another. This was intelligent, cool, and entertaining. Great work!
Can barely wait for Biospark to port over the Super Metroid bosses. It will make hacks like this one even better. He's currently still busy with the Fusion bosses though, from my knowledge.
Not bad.... think I prefer Zero Mission recreated in Metroid Super though. Zero Mission's lack of event scripting really makes it harder to do Super Metroid proper.
@@BadassEFdriver No it didn't? You needed to find the upgrade (in the same place it is here, for the record) before being able to charge. Perhaps you're confusing it with the Long Beam, which Super *did* have at the start?
Trying to determine how accurate this is, this is pretty good... Is work still being done to this? Or is it an old something that will never get an update?
This hack is incredible well done, its so good the fact someone create a hack based on two games from the same company, sadly torizo not exist here and Crocomire looks like a simple enemy than a boss
I like this is some ways. Would have been better if the graphics were converted over from Super Metroid. I always felt like Zero Mission graphics were a downgrade. Some hacks should be implemented to better recreate some boss fights and the lack of Chozo fights. But I'm impressed by the creativity with the given resources of the original game.
I liked both games, to an extent, my biggest complaint with super metroid they solved in zero mission, with zero mission you can play like a tweaker and the controls respond just as fast but with super metroid, it feels like there's lag between the controller and game (and I mean with all versions from the original SNES cartridge, to the virtual console, to the roms)... I just want to see a "hack" of super metroid with a big controller sensitivity improvement
@@MrEli768 I feel like I did see some mods that were focused on tweaking the control to make it feel more responsive like Zero Mission. You'd have to google them.
Also, is this the one that's called SM GBA Edition? Heard really good things about that one, it's supposedly the first SM port to ZM that actually got finished. Apparently quite accurate as well, so they might very well be the same. It would also be understandable that they renamed it, the title Metroid Zero Mission Super Metroid is just cringe.
Since it's SM on the ZM engine, it should be called Supermetroid Zero Mission to contrast Metroid Super Zeromission which is the opposite (ZM in the SM engine).
This is a pretty basic hack considering it’s basically a map rearrangement to match Super’s and that’s about it. Everything else is Zero mission. I’m still gonna download it because it does look cool but I see potential if it still gets worked on. Like program vertical doors to work like they do in Super instead of being a tile recolor to match the door. Make everywhere you need the grapple beam into a rail system instead of just certain spots, or add the sprites and program necessary to make the grapple work, could have rom hacked Super Metroid and added the Zero mission sprites, tiles and background to overlay everything, and definitely make crocomire an accurate boss fight instead of coding him out of the game and just adding him in with no sound or barriers to stop from passing him. Like I said there’s a lot of potential in this idea and I hope someone works on it, looks awesome, then you can play Zero Mission, AM2R, and this version of Super Metroid back to back and it feel right, great job tho
I haven't played this, but I have played both original games and the original super metroid plays like there is controller lag, and I mean on all versions (the actual SNES cartridge, the virtual console versions and rom version), so if this hack allows me to play super metroid the way zero mission plays (controller wise, like a tweaker), that alone would be a big plus in my books
As great as this is, it's also blasphemy at the same time. The Zero Mission aesthetics ruins this entire intro section in almost every way. That said, this is not in the reflection of the quality of what you've done, but the clear reality that Super Metroid and Zero Mission are two completely different games. It makes me see maybe why my friend hates Zero Mission when I told him it's like Super Metroid. It's not and this video makes that abundantly clear. But I love the experiment all the same.
Feel like it could have worked a bit better with more original sprites. Also this romhack kinda demonstrates how much of Super's quality is owed to aesthetic
This hack makes it obvious just how much better SMs graphics and sounds are. Another thing people never seem to talk about is how much more agile Samus is in SM compared to the GBA games
@@MichaelSotoCE Agile? Samus is wayy floatier is Super so I'm not sure what you mean there. Samus has tight jumps and ledge grabbing so she's just as if not more agile in the gba games.

The hack was obviously made by someone who knew Super Metroid incredibly well. This run, not so much. Seriously, I was screaming at you for probably a good 30 minutes for skipping the wave beam when it would’ve been an easy pick up 🤦♂️
@@madspunky I can confirm that it is not. Or at least, you can't do the *same* sequence break, because the lip of the platform is too far out for the stubby ZM walljump to get you to. You need to do either a diagonal bomb jump from the ledge, or bomb up from the spikes. Both are far riskier and more difficult to pull off than the sequence break in SM. I imagine they didn't detour to grab it after beating Crocomire because beam damage hardly matters in Zero Mission, and it'd be much faster to just grab it on his way to Ridley.
