1:47 I don't know why they made the power bomb only do 20 points of damage. Especially considering if you move all the way to the left of the room, there's exactly enough distance to dodge it. 2:55 And you see, that's just the thing about the power bombs. We don't usually think of them to have a set blast radius, we usually just think of them as a screen clear. But if you use a power bomb in this room when SA-X is at her furthest away/closest to the door, She won't even notice! You could use a POWER BOMB to escape this room...without alerting her! 3:19 That being said, this method is still the safest and quietest way out. 3:51 This sequence however is impossible to evade detection in. You're meant to be chased through it. I always used to struggle here when I was younger. Just take a deep breath, spam the hell out of your ice missiles, remember to aim diagonally up after blowing up the wall so you can shoot the switches in the next hallway, pick your favorite god, and PRAY! 4:02 NICE SHOT! That's step one finished! 4:10 No, you see that, how he aimed directly upwards? That's wrong, much too slow, if you do it that way you'll die! (Just like he almost did.) Hold the L button to aim diagonally upwards and spam your beam while running through! 4:26 This guy might have survived the SA-X chase, but what he didn't show is that he almost definitely died on his way to a save room and had to do the chase over again. The enemies in this area of the game hit hard and come in large packs, your going to wanna have at least 2 or 3 full tanks of energy after the chase. 5:56 Okay, this sequence always REALLY bothered me! Let me explain. When the SA-X attacks you at close range, she'll usually freeze you first and then smack you with a super missile in a combo that does between 5 and 3 tanks of energy. This is really smart and cool because samus used to do the same thing to deal with metroid larva in the other games, showing that the SA-X has copied Samus' knowledge and probably knows how to deal with metroids. But in this sequence, instead of spamming the ice beam to freeze everything like she's supposed to know is the right choice, she instead just decides to wildly shoot missiles like an idiot! IS SHE A SMART TACTICAL PREDATOR OR A DUMB BRUTE? SHE CAN'T BE BOTH! 7:36 Here's a little pro tip for this fight. If holding down and releasing charged shots is getting exhausting you can just keep the fire button held down and use the R button to ready missiles. When your gun switches to missile it will automatically release its charged beam. This allows you to hold down the firing button to charge shots and use the R button to fire them without ever having to release the firing button. 8:39 And another thing, her beams will still do over a full tank of damage even with the gravity suit. So...y'know...9 tanks probably won't be enough. I recommend at least 15 tanks if you're having trouble.

In the Restricted Laboratory, the SA-X is trying to trigger the detach and self-destruct sequence rather than directly kill the Metroids. It probably could’ve just went around killing them the usual way, and maybe the future Omega Metroid wouldn’t have escaped. Or Samus for that matter.
i didnt get to play fusion, so all of this context helped me understand just a little bit more :) watching him jump thru the vertical metroid room was painfully staged though.. no way anyone takes that many hits, and further proof it was staged because he waited till last second 0.5 seconds to enter door. plus he flew through it flawlessly after he let the timer run down a bit haha. nice trick
Would be interesting to see what (if any) politics would play out if Samus, Dark Samus and an SA-X ran into one another. I’d expect Dark Samus to uncompromisingly target Samus first and foremost, but I wonder what move the SA-X would make.
7:27 once you enter this room after getting your final objective you can no longer save. While the door leading back does open after defeating the SA-X you can’t go through the door leading out of the lower elevator room. All you can do is activate the propulsion sequence and run to your ship. You’ll get to go to a recharge room during your escape but you shouldn’t need it. Oh, and don’t feel discouraged if you didn’t get all the pickups. Once you clear the game you can continue and go back to the sectors and other areas so you can get whatever you missed. Or if you want, you can start over for a better ending result, only you won’t be locked out of exploration once you get your final objective.

That sort of looked creepy from SA X first encounter. I would like to see a showing of Samus going face to face with SA X in sector's 2, 5, and 6. I take it that SA X, in the Restricted Laboratory was trying blast Samus but accidently blast a few Metroids and then the others. Which caused SA X blast more causing the fire. That led up to the rest of what we see go on in that area (detracting the Restricted Laboratory into space to blow up). In the final encounter, the only way to beat SA X is to use all the beam blast (charge, wide, plasma, and wave) you acquired together. Which missils, bombs and suits abilities can't help you there.

-holy fuck this man wrote an entire essay calm down ffs-
It's people like you and me who pour their heart and soul into their UA-cam comments and into what they love that should be the majority of what this site entails, just like how it used to be at the start of it. Keep being passionate on what you do and don't let anyone restrict you with the banal concept of using too much effort.
thank you for this rant/knowledge dump/essay
In the Restricted Laboratory, the SA-X is trying to trigger the detach and self-destruct sequence rather than directly kill the Metroids. It probably could’ve just went around killing them the usual way, and maybe the future Omega Metroid wouldn’t have escaped. Or Samus for that matter.
i didnt get to play fusion, so all of this context helped me understand just a little bit more :)
watching him jump thru the vertical metroid room was painfully staged though.. no way anyone takes that many hits, and further proof it was staged because he waited till last second 0.5 seconds to enter door. plus he flew through it flawlessly after he let the timer run down a bit haha. nice trick
@@MetaFanWing i mean, considering a different X almost blew up the entire ship in PYR, this seems plausible
Sax vs Dark Samus is still what we all want to see.
Not really
Would be interesting to see what (if any) politics would play out if Samus, Dark Samus and an SA-X ran into one another. I’d expect Dark Samus to uncompromisingly target Samus first and foremost, but I wonder what move the SA-X would make.
Fun fact: I beat this entire game on a school laptop.
SA-X > Dark Samus

"Why bother having a dark echoes clone when I can just split off by mitosis?"
-Sa-X probably.
oooh, a controversial thought, i like it
0:23 "I know you were just here. I'll get ahead of you and flank you. There's no escape from me. I have all your powers... What do you have?"
I had a skill issue and I know all this now, but thanks anyways
A shame it never showed up in sector 6

Dread has one thing I don't understand. Why would they send robots to look for the X when we know the X can take robots as host.
@@charlieretro they’re made of the strongest materials in the universe remember. And there was 7 of them each with a unique ability copied from Samus Aran herself.

Man, imagine if they remade this game in first person with an AI based SA-X along the lines of Alien Isolation where it could show up anywhere, anytime. That'd be a dream game for me.
The SA-X chase really freaks me out everytime i came back playing fusion
Did you forget to turn on the Varia suit? I don't remember the SA-X doing that much damage!
You can't turn upgrades on or off in fusion. Although I agree that Sa-X seems to be doing up to double her normal amounts of damage...hard mode perhaps?
@@zacharymabb4873 probably on hard mode
God damn not everyone in the comments trashing on EMMI lmao. Honestly, I feel like they're different enough to where you can't really compare one over the other. I just love em both lol.
The fact almost everyone forgets is that there were multiple copies of SAX roaming around the station.

Shouldve bought this back in the day. Got zero mission for the advance instead. Thankfully the switch brought this back for a second chance
zero mission was also really good
I really want the horror theme and a stalker enemy like the Sa-x in a 3d metroid game
Imagine a remake of metroid fusion, but the SA-X has a Mr X style AI from the RE2 remake. Would be perfect for it. Something ever present that always has a chance of finding you that you can stop for a tike but can nevwr kill until the right time

The original dark Samus
I dream of a Metroid game where the SA-X is as intelligent as the Alien from Alien: Isolation.
And then it appears again to Samus from the Omega Metroid at the end of the game.
I sense a lot of hesitation.
