- The Philippines did not send a ship to this year's RIMPAC exercises, citing tensions with China over territorial claims in the South China Sea. It's instead sent observers to the drills, to gather support from the other 28 countries taking part.

The Philippine Navy are the regular attendees to the binannual event. Not the Philippine Coast Guard. It's the Philippine Navy who says they won't be sending ships. Why is Tariela the one being interviewed and is speaking for the Navy?

The Philippines 🇵🇭 military and US Military have been conducting joint military operations for the past few years on 2024 we just had a joint US Marines and Philippines 🇵🇭 military working in tandem.
The RIMPAC is more so wide Naval battle simulations.
They most likely sent officers to observe and learn.
But joint training has been conducted so it's all good.

With the current tension at WPS and Truth to be told Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Navy don't have enough ships to patrol the large vast area of SCS and WPS. Rather than sending one of it ships in Rimpac it will prioritize patrolling its Territory as PRC Is now more aggressive.
The order of Philippine Navy Ships will be a Good addition to the Fleet that is expected 2025 onwards and same as well for the Philippine Coast Guard.

2 Missile Corvette (118 Meters) - 2025 Onwards (HHI -KOR)
6 OPV (94.4 Meters) - 2025 Onwards - (HHI -KOR)
2 SSV (123 Meters) - 2025 Onwards - (PT PAL INDONESIA)

This is the result of decade long ignorance of the politicians to the AFP Modernization. Plus the procurement process is a political and bureaucratic one. There will always be corruption involved. In ASEAN, Philippines has one of the weakest equipment and navy. Yes soldiers are brave but equipment-wise, they are poor. They even have not reached "Deterrence" yet. 2. Elect only honorable and competent officials with matching credentials and excellent track records
3. Remove ALL forms of protectionism in terms of investment and businesses
4. Build a nuclear generator
5. Good governance
6. Abolish red tape for businesses
People might say that I'm comparing Philippines to rich countries, but Philippines is a country like Japan, Singapore and South Korea. They have low corruption especially Singapore. They also have good governance and competent officials, so I can compare Philippines with them. The Philippines government cant even afford to keep electricity running in a lot of its cities - people use generators. The infrastructure is crumbling - roads are broken and unrepaired. The poverty in so many of towns is depressing yet they buy billions of dollars worth of weapons to be a proxy for the US.
