As an American sailor, I really appreciate all the nations' ships who followed the tradition of "manning the rails" when entering Pearl. Thank you all, and fair winds and following seas. To those who don't know, the battleship USS Arizona was sunk in 1941 while tied up in battleship row on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. When she went down, thousands of her crew died with her and are entombed within her hull to this day. As a sign of enduring respect, US warships who enter Pearl station off-duty crewmen in dress uniforms along the exterior walkways.

Yes, ships from most countries man the rails when entering Pearl Harbor and hand salute USS Arizona, the men entombed in her and the memorial built above her. I was on a couple of guided missile destroyers in the 70's homeported at Pearl Harbor. Slight correction though, thousands of her crew did not die with her. 1,177 were lost on USS Arizona on December 7, 1941.

I am glad to see that two German navy ships take part at this naval-exercise. The ships belong to the navybase at Wilhelmshaven located at the northsea. I was borne there and was part of the german navy airwing-base Nordholz in 1976-77 as AIS-Officer! Best wishes to all navy-men and women!
Wilhelmshaven to Pearl Harbor is one hell of a transit. I wonder if Panama or Suez is shorter? Or maybe its about the same distance lol. Always nice to see German, Japanese and American ships sailing together.
@@cxzact9204 The reason for this transit-route was, to take part on the NYC ship-parade and also visiting the Norfolk-USN Base. (Norfolk is the partner town of Wilhelmshaven). On the transit back both ship will went the route via Suez-Channel.
I am Canadian. Given the changing geopolitics and threats from certain totalitarian regimes, I suggest and support increasing the budget for the CAF and upgrading its combat capabilities. It is better than wasting it on various woke initiatives.

I’m a big fan of Japan. I was stationed on Oahu from 1977-1979 in the Army and was a helicopter mechanic. Our hangar was on Wheeler AFB. Our hangar still was riddled with bullet holes in the steel beams and block walls and the concrete tarmac had concrete patches from bomb craters all from the Pearl Harbor attack 36 years earlier. I’ve visited the Arizona Memorial twice. It’s a sacred and solemn place. It’s surreal to see a Japanese Navy ship in Pearl Harbor. Mind blowing.

This exercise represents all the Allies of the Pacific. There is also NATO in the Atlantic. All told there are a lot of Allies to defend against the likes of Russia and China in two different theaters. When I was in the USN stationed on the west coast, RIMPAC was my favorite joint exercise, and I participated in two.
What happened then is history. From today on, we have to start from scratch in order not to repeat the mistakes of the past. Life is more precious than profit

RIMPAC was a blast in the past. Good times. I am amazed at how more countries join in the exercise, especially from countries in Europe. Need to amend the name from RIMPAC to WORLDPAC or OCEANPAC.

I participated in 2 RIMPAC Exercises when I was active duty USN, and it was always an eerie feeling for me to see the Japanese Rising Sun Flag flying inside the Port. I find it disheartening that many International Navies do not both have a summer dress uniform to wear and also some Nation's Navies did not "Man-The Rails" while entering Pearl Harbor which is a major sign of respect. And I should also chastise the U.S. Navy ships that did not do the same. I remember when my ship entered both Pearl & Sydney Harbors and we all had to be spick & span for it, dress uniform whites and it was a major evolution onboard my ship. Fortunately, my ship played on both Orange & Blue sides during the 2 RIMPACS I was involved in, and we got more training from playing both the aggressor & defender sides.

As an American sailor, I really appreciate all the nations' ships who followed the tradition of "manning the rails" when entering Pearl. Thank you all, and fair winds and following seas.
To those who don't know, the battleship USS Arizona was sunk in 1941 while tied up in battleship row on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. When she went down, thousands of her crew died with her and are entombed within her hull to this day. As a sign of enduring respect, US warships who enter Pearl station off-duty crewmen in dress uniforms along the exterior walkways.

Yes, ships from most countries man the rails when entering Pearl Harbor and hand salute USS Arizona, the men entombed in her and the memorial built above her. I was on a couple of guided missile destroyers in the 70's homeported at Pearl Harbor. Slight correction though, thousands of her crew did not die with her. 1,177 were lost on USS Arizona on December 7, 1941.

I am glad to see that two German navy ships take part at this naval-exercise. The ships belong to the navybase at Wilhelmshaven located at the northsea. I was borne there and was part of the german navy airwing-base Nordholz in 1976-77 as AIS-Officer! Best wishes to all navy-men and women!

@@cxzact9204 The reason for this transit-route was, to take part on the NYC ship-parade and also visiting the Norfolk-USN Base. (Norfolk is the partner town of Wilhelmshaven). On the transit back both ship will went the route via Suez-Channel.

I’m a big fan of Japan. I was stationed on Oahu from 1977-1979 in the Army and was a helicopter mechanic. Our hangar was on Wheeler AFB. Our hangar still was riddled with bullet holes in the steel beams and block walls and the concrete tarmac had concrete patches from bomb craters all from the Pearl Harbor attack 36 years earlier.
I’ve visited the Arizona Memorial twice. It’s a sacred and solemn place.
It’s surreal to see a Japanese Navy ship in Pearl Harbor. Mind blowing.
I was home ported in Yokosuka 1966-67, never got to see as much of Japan as I'd like to have. Manned the rail many times when passing the Arizona.

This exercise represents all the Allies of the Pacific. There is also NATO in the Atlantic. All told there are a lot of Allies to defend against the likes of Russia and China in two different theaters.
When I was in the USN stationed on the west coast, RIMPAC was my favorite joint exercise, and I participated in two.
Its nice to see great nations working together. Imagine if china and russia were democractic and we all wokred together.

I find it disheartening that many International Navies do not both have a summer dress uniform to wear and also some Nation's Navies did not "Man-The Rails" while entering Pearl Harbor which is a major sign of respect. And I should also chastise the U.S. Navy ships that did not do the same. I remember when my ship entered both Pearl & Sydney Harbors and we all had to be spick & span for it, dress uniform whites and it was a major evolution onboard my ship.
Fortunately, my ship played on both Orange & Blue sides during the 2 RIMPACS I was involved in, and we got more training from playing both the aggressor & defender sides.

I remember MY deployments for 'RIMPAC' back in the mid-80s and early-90s, but don't remember seeing any European countries...and Never Mid-East ships...NICE!!

@@axistempest2860 Vikramaditya would be a bit big of an investment for India. The only country to send a carrier was the US cause the USN has a lot of them, and RIMPAC is hosted by America. But yeah, it would be cool if we saw Vikramaditya and other carriers.
My Thai ass got excite about this event but Thai Navy told me best we can do is send 3 officers to observe
