I haven't put in the time to get over my flipping fear yet, but knowing that the Mocaco - a move I can do! - is on track towards the cheat gainer makes me feel like I can overcome it! Seeing these clear progressions is super inspiring, I´m definitely going to work on this next time I'm in the gym!
You have the best way for beginners to learn the trick. Each step by step process is really helpful and informative for a student to learn and progress in doing cheat gainer. This is very informative and clever.
Hey Brendan, I thought the cheatgainer is a "swing-flip" with the "aerial motion"... So I'm spotting much earlier the ground. And Cork is just like cheatgainer in A-twist/ B-twist. If I'm doing a cork I think about A-twist, so I got it controlled and clean. For me it is the gainer-flash, what you did, because you're trying to spot the ground overhead, like a flashkick... so the cork is more like a Swing full back... What do you think about it?
Wittiko Durban Thank you so much for your question 🙏🏼 If your asking about the terminology, then I don’t really have a good answer... I wish I did, but different people call different skills different names because of their culture, background, and language. I call the thing I demonstrated “Cheat Gainer” 👌🏼 I think your dead on with the progression you mentioned! I think the Aerial motion is just like the Cheat Gainer and the A-Twist is analogous to the Cork. It’s a great way to visualize the two tricks and how they relate 😊 If your asking about the spotting, then I do have a good answer. Spot forward as you swing, then back as you initiate the arch-body to hollow-body position change. When people do the Ariel, they usually spot the ground or the wall behind them. 🔥 I hope that clears things up a bit. I wasn’t exactly sure what you were asking, but I tried to answer the best I could 🙌🏼
wow your video is really rich in information. It is a really natural chain of progressions. I like it. I am going to try that to puzzle my cheat gainer. I had doubts about cheat gainer but I already have the other skills and backflip so It will come naturally now. Thanks!
How flexible should you be? Also, do you need any prequisites for this move like a backflip or an aerial because I can't do a backflip and my aerial is a bit sloppy.
Hey Brandon, I have a question about technique. In every other tutorial on cheat gainer I saw on youtube, the person doing the cheat gainer does a "J-step", as a setup for the trick (as if he's running into swinging his limbs), whereas you do a little jump on the same leg. What's the difference between these setups and do you think that one of them is better than the other? Thanks
The difference between the macaco and swing macaco is too big. You go from doing it safely in a squat position to do it from standing with just one leg and the j-step momentum that disorients you. I can do the macaco and backflip, but trying the swing macaco is terrifying, it feels like you are going straight to hit your head on the floor. I'm trying this way to learn it, but it scares me even more than when I was learning the backflip
So beautiful, how you keep pointing toes entire time? Right before take off my toe(swing leg) is gonna bend no matter how I concentrate 😭😭 btw this progression scheme is awesome I wish I knew when I first attempt gainer
