The hurt in Roscoe’s expression as he looked up and asked God “why’d they have to go and do that?” This show really got at your heart strings sometimes. And I love this show. Always will.
@A. D, As a fan of this show, it truly broke my heart when the scene of where Roscoe had to tell Enos that he couldn't swim and you could tell that he was in tears in this scene and of course Enos also!! 😟😥
I wanted to give both of them hugs especially Enoscwgen he started crying!
I always thought James Best was a highly underated actor because of this scene. This was truly excellent acting, and you feel the sadness his character was feeling. Rest in Peace, James Best.
So true
The man was an amazing person.
The little noise he made was the noise he used to make for his grandkids.
And shared it all with us.
He had over 100 acting credits in some memorable films. The man was a great and experienced actor long before the Dukes.
@@superlyger he played on Gunsmoke several times I even seen on the Twilight Zone and a lot of other westerns I got to meet him in Hickory North Carolina at a play got to take some pictures and talk to him a little bit he only lived 20 or 25 mile from me I went April to see him and he passed away the next April
He was also a talented singer and musician. He played Jim Lindsey on the Andy Griffith Show.
My favorite episode of him was when he was tied up after Boss Hogg was kidnapped and asked the Duke boys for help for his fat little buddy.
His plea to the Dukes showed us he ultimately trusted them no matter what their past relationship had been.
The way Roscoe cracks his voice, and the way Enos stutters his words. Powerful, meaningful acting. I remember seeing this when I was a kid. I also remember the sadness I felt.
That was some fine acting there. That for sure.
The last thirty seconds of this video just kills me every time I watch it. It just goes to show Roscoe and Enos didn’t do this because it was the law. They partially did it for the enjoyment and the thrill. Deep down they both know they never wanted to see the Duke brothers to get hurt. Most people in this comment section talk about the desperation of Enos but what really got me was when Roscoe asked, “Why? Why did they have to do that?” As if he was asking God. Even though I knew they were alive this absolutely killed me. Hands down a great TV show.
Well put! There have been several times this show got very emotional. In fact in same episode, when Roscoe told Jesse in the Boa'rs Nest and Jesse actually teared up! Roscoe cried out to Dukes for help when Boss got kidnapped, Bo cried after fighting Luke in carnival Of Thrills.
Cousins
they are all inbred ''cousins''
@@carmineredd1198 Reported to UA-cam for hate speech.
Even as crooked as boss was he didn't want any harm on the dukes
I was born in 74.. this was the greatest show from my childhood.
I was born in '74 as well. My favorite show of all time.
@NDFOOTBALL F you screw politics on a dukes thread ...shame
Born in 73. Mine too
1970 here. Born in Georgia so this was my backyard. Hopefully I can move back soon.
Me too.... possum on a gumbush@!!!
1:28 how James Best put the emotion into the cb call always gets me
That voice crack when he says "pond" says it all
@@guitarkid9623 actually if watch Rosco must have known something wasn't going to go well with jump
This was a small but powerful performance from both actors. You can see the emotion come to life in their face and through their words. This was one of my favorite shows as a young kid. I now own the series on DVD. Must see 📺
Must see TV
NBC 's logo . Brings back memories. Thank you for that
Where do you get it
That was an incredibly well-acted scene. Both James Best and Sonny Shroyer tugged at my heart strings.
I met Both James and Sonny I ask Sonny Does he call u dipstick in real life? Sonny Smiled and said no thats just OnTV in real life we are friends
@@kellyberry🤣👍🏻
This is defiantly a tear jerker. No matter how much Roscoe went after Bo and Luke he really loved those two guys.
At about 44 seconds in, Roscoe's face looking concerned shows how much even he thought 'wait, wait hold on a second...."
He definitely did!
Agreed. ❤
I've watched this episode I don't know how many times, but when Enos begs Roscoe to help him and when he starts to cry because he just lost his two best friends it just kills me inside because of how real their acting feels.
Even though we know no one died….this scene always makes me tear up! This scene and when Bo and Luke thought Rosco drowned.
Sonny Shroyer was a very underrated actor in this show
Yes he was, hated how he was always considered the stupid "dipstick" , when he got his own show it didn't last a season, think CBS didn't give him a fair go at his own show, that's why he returned to the Dukes just to be the old Enos. Thought they would have at least give him a better role.
@@jimmyjamedwards5967 Enos was great in the show. And just because Rosco called him a dipstick, didn't mean he didn't love or care about him. And it gave some good humor and warmth to the show.
This is sheriff roscoe p coltrane, He was the best. R.I.P
true true true
+THE BIG AGRINICO 02 very trur i watched this episode yesterday on dvd
+Charger Master Is brilliant, I used watch this every sat afternoon, Just funny
Beth mc it’s Coltrane lol
He died?
One of the reasons my childhood was great. Dukes of Hazzard made my night. R I P to Boss, Roscoe, Uncle Jessie and anyone else I missed
Some of the filming cast as well.
All resting in Hevan
Dont forget Vance Duke
Its a disgrace that they took this show off TV
Canadians Are Gay Very sad my favorite show still have watch since first start. Lots great memories. Time stand up for all history all state, wish people say bad things. Why can anyone if peace in there hearts. Stop all this hate crime. It's truth.
This show had a decent run. I've seen far better shows get axed after 6 episodes
that was a dum reason too why they took the show of duks of hazzard off because of the white guy going into a black church and shooting God Bless the souls of that church and their familes and also the squirrel hill church shooting at a Jewish church in Pittsburgh but as far as I know there were no shows cancelled when the shooting happened at that Jewish church May God Bless souls or all churches
Canadians Are Gay
Just because of the best flag in USA
Canadians Are Gay yea but sometimes story's can only go so long until they run their course
30 years later, still hits ya right in the feels
RIP James Best. One of his Best scenes. (pun intended)
BLK Bandit wow
One of the best showing his range. I think his best was when Enos quit, or when he played on wanted: dead or alive.
I miss the good old days with the good old boys. Rest in peace to all the actors on this show that passed away.
I loved The Dukes e specialy Roscoe P Coltrain. That show never should've been taken off the air.
Did you all see the part where Enos started to cry?
That part tears me up. I know when it was on TV they left that part out. When I got my DVDs and saw it, I started to cry too!
Then Rosco starts to cry.
I know! Broke my heart! Poor Enos! Bo and Luke were, after all, his friends.
The hardest part?
Rosco: I can't help ya, Enis. I can't swim.
Oh, the feels, man...the feels...
😭😭😭
No I'm clinically blind and death
RIP Rosco. he was a great sheriff.
@Norbero Fontanez he caught them a few times actually.
Think he really had respect for the Dukes, but his brother in law, Boss Hog would not allow that.
Ghost of the General Lee is one of my favorite episodes
I still will put the acting in this episode up against any other show known for great acting. The tremor in Roscoe's voice when he calls on the CB to Enos's reaction (runs down and dives in and crying), to Roscoe acknowledging he can't swim, to Roscoe telling Uncle Jesse. Just great acting all around.
A detail I love is Enos trying to remove his gunbelt but he cant, yet he doesnt slow down or stop, just goes in regardless
Til this very day I'm still watching The Dukes
Me too whenever I can find it .💯💙💞
In lucky enough to have all 7 seasons including the 2 reunion movies
Put this great show back on tv
The Dukes have been a part of me sense I carried the lunch pail in the 3rd grade I'm 44 now and I still get gitty Everytime I see ANYTHING. Pertaining to them and will always be a part of me!!!
Same age ♌ here when u born
We're getting old, people - but we had some -great- *LEGENDARY* times !
Have to say James Best best performance ever during Dukes was this one, Denver Pyle put on a spectacular performance as well; this is by far one of my favorite episode's.
James Best Was The Best rip
Search: James Best, Ron Howard, Gunsmoke to see the best acting James did on TV.
" i cant swim :( "
hands down my favorite tv show
I cried more during this episode than I did when Ol Yeller died.
I still got weepy, and I knew it was only a clip! God, I am so old.
old yellow was a biscuit eater.... come back Shane !!!
Probably the greatest scene of acting in the entire series. My favorite tv show ever, (obviously) and this scene still sticks out among all the others to me. Truly great episode
Upsets me how they took Duke's off TV land but I will never watch that network again.
werent they still making new eposodes just diffrent people before they took it down
+Charger Master no well I'm not sure
Ron Anderson i think they took it down due to the rebel flag on the top of the general lee
+SquirrelsLockDown Gaming/Animation You never heard one racist comment on the show unlike so many of the Afro centric shows that aren't off the air.
Michael Richmond then why were you watching a clip from it? Just to come here to talk shit?
The body shop in hazzard County must love the Duke Boys for all the work
Friday nights. 8:00 PM. Loved watching this as a kid. "Dukes" is all cornball and car jumps, but the show did a lot of things right; this scene is one of those things.
James and Sonny really sold it. Great acting.
I think that this has to be the best acting, not just on the Dukes of Hazzard, but on TV, period. R.I.P. Roscoe.
he was also very friendly
I loved this show as a kid and still love it today!
I remember this episode like yesterday.
Great show I've had the dixie air horns on all of my cars since I was 17, 33 years.
Rip Roscoe
RIP James best and General lee
One of the most DOH's intense and serious scene. Sonny and Jimmy are so great!!!
It's a big, big, and I mean REALLY BIG DISGRACE that they took this wonderful show off the air.
Wonderful acting by Jimmy and Sonny.
James Best was the most underrated actor I have ever seen. He is a legend.
I really felt for Rosco in this episode. He didn't deserve to be treated like he did. but the boys did have to get to Boss Hogg, and the only way to do that was by Rosco. Jesse blams him for coming up with the scheme with Boss to frame Bo and Luke, when he had nothing to do with it. He really does care about Bo and Luke. He just likes chasin' 'em and never wants anything bad to happen to 'em.
I remember this episode & I remember the episode when everyone thought Roscoe was gone.
Even enemies can show respect. That’s one thing that was so great about those days.
I loved this episode , one of the best ones out there
Rosco & Enos later felt relieved when they found out that Bo & Luke weren't in the General Lee when it went into the pond because that car was stolen by 2 guys, who managed to swim out of the car after it went into the pond.
I'll be darned - that's a remarkably well acted and moving scene. I haven't watched the show since I was a kid, but this kind of makes me want to check it out again.
I love how Roscoe and Enos are heartbroken about “Bo and Luke” since they do think they killer themselves without actually searching the area… but I feel bad for them both thinking Bo and Luke are dead.
now CMT and TV Land need to put this back on
Andy Elkins yea I agree
They had it on CMT in 2014-2015 and then the people who were saying that The Dukes of Hazzard was too offensive and I’m a very big Dukes of Hazzard fan ever since I was 3 or 4 years old. People these days am I right
Yeah really
Yes I agree this is a family show
I agree, they do!
I have never seen this episode. I heard they didn't show it much in syndication. Its a damn shame that when they do show it they edit this scene. James and Sonny both show great emotions in this scene. Thank you for sharing!
This aint nothin'. You should see the next scene. One of the most memorable scenes in the entire show, and the absolute AWESOME acting by James Best when, at teh Boars Nest, Roscoe has to tell Uncle Jesse the boys died. They played it straight & serious... a powerful scene in ANY show! (Shades of the first season)
Bane Wayne its been shown many times
Yea I seen it a few times growing up, them days where the last remaining days of freedom, walking thru a beautiful lit field or taking a stroll down by the lake.
Yeah this really was one of the best eps of the entire series, felt very real, the acting, great ep.
Donny Mckinnon true this one of my most memorable episode i saw when it aired very good acting and also very sad
I am a huge fan of Dukes of Hazzard rest in peace Roscoe p coletrain he'll be missed sad we don't see is show on TV anymore even though they were reruns CMT used to show reruns of the show but not anymore don't know why but I wish they would bring it back 😭👍❤️🤘
Because of the Dixie flag which is ds to me just saying
Because of the Dixie flag it is bs if you ask me just saying
When Enos is crying that made me tear up
love the background gutair music on this episode
Guitars were played by the Late Waylon Jennings
I'll always love this show ,glad my son's like it as I'm approaching 50 ....
I always loved how Rosco hated those darn Duke boys, but every once in a while they let the character show how he really felt about the.,dude was a great actor and could pull it off like no one else
James Best portrayed frustration, helplessness, sadness, tragedy, and loss in this scene in a way that grips you even though you know the outcome. Sonny Schroyer too. Just excellent actors.
they made that video work out the right way others thought the Duke boys died but Bo and Luke Tom and John miss those days and lost a true friend there uncle Jesse and boss hogg plus James best they had great holidays together for thanksgiving showing them eating at the table bless them hope John and Tom family is doing okay in the United States
RIP Sheriff Roscoooooooooooooooo P Coltrane
this scene still makes me tear up RIP James Best Rosco P Coltrain
Dukes of hazzard forever !
I always loved how the show was supposed to take place in Hazzard County, GA...but, was clearly shot mostly in Southern CA, lol
So the Dukes go into the pond one time and Enos Dives in after them. Yet Enos goes into the pond every other day and they never helped him out once.
As did Roscoe and many others, but they always popped up. This time the Dukes stayed down. I still cry when I see this episode and the kidnapped Boss episodes. James Best had an unbelievable range.
...but they always paused to see if the person was okay before taking off, and in a later episode go into the pond when they find Rosco's sunken car, to look for him.
My favorite episode
I love how Enos starts to take off his gunbelt then just doesn't waste time with it. Watched this show seriously as a kid, then watched it for fun, now watch it to apperciate the actors (including the stunt people).
I remember this episode. And how they change it in the reruns.
The last cutaway scene gave it away. For a moment there I thought they will be driving the general lee through streets of gold.
James Best appeared in a couple of episodes of Gunsmoke, one of them "With a Smile" will show you what a really fine actor Best was...RIP and thanks!!! And Denver Pyle has a lead in what is, imho, the best Gunsmoke episode of all time "No Hands"...
Denver, just before the Dukes ... stared in the series of the mountain man with his bear.
Grizzly Adams
In the last place you'd expect it, James Best goes and puts on a master class.
one of my favorite
I remember watching this episode back then when I was a kid and that scene with Rosco and Enos after the General Lee went in the pond was a real tear jerker. Even though I knew that it wasn't Bo & Luke in the car, that scene still had me crying. Rosco and Enos's acting and emotions was what made it such a tear jerking scene.
Crying 😭
"I can't Enos. I can't swim!" The number of times that Rosco end up in the pond and he can't swim?
luv this scene sadness
Sonny did great acting here. Much better than anyone else during any death scenes during duke episodes
To : Brian Coltrane, when I saw the end of this scene, I cried my eyes out and my mom & dad told me it's going to be okay and say a prayer that the Heavenly Father would take good care of them and your gonna see them next week on TV? I prayed like crazy and even in church, but it was a very sad ending and how many of us " The Dukes of Hazzard " fans cried when Enos cried and so James Best when he called for an ambulance?
This is a lot more impactful then people think. A deep scene.
I will watch it one my favorite show.two thumbs up. Two thumbs up. 100%.
been to long since dukes been on tv
Saudade dos duks de razzard
James Best
You where and always will be the "Best"
Rip dear friend, flash too
I think this scene even though the audience knows it’s not the duke boys who crashed, speaks a lot about the character relationships Roscoe and Enos weren’t chasing them for law reasons but because they all got a laugh out of it, and when the duke boys seemingly crash and drown The two officers feel serious guilt because of it
When I caught a glimpse of those good, ol' boys right at the very end I leapt out of my chair and shouted, "yee haw"
Gosh Roscoe is so painfully scared but you can only slightly hear it in his tone, really shows that he does care about them
You'd think they would have a dive team come out and search for bodies..
Rosco does tell Jesse that Enos was dragging for the bodies, although they never found any, of course.
Roscoe wanted to catch the Dukes not hurt them. They were in a close knit community and they cared about each other. Great acting.
I have the seasons 1,2,3,5 and 6 almost 7
I have 3,7 and i think 6
I miss the show soooooo much I hate that it happened
isnt enos the motorcycle cop on smokey and the bandit when they crossed into the georgia state line
Yep. He told Jerry Reed "When the judge gets a hold of you, he's gonna turn you very which way but loose" :-)
And Sonny Shroyer was the only Georgia born actor in the series.
SquirrelsLockDown yes Gaming/Animation
Yes
Yes. He's also the cop who walks up to the brown Porsche Burt crashes off the side of the road towards the beginning of The Cannonball Run and meets Captain Chaos
This got me 😭
i cried just looked at the scene and cried
Best show ever
bring it back nothing wrong with it one of the best shows ever
poor Enos he was soo sad
Buenas tardes podrían poner el episodio completo o díganme donde lo puedo ver
make more pleaes
Rosco couldn't blame Enos for crying when they thought the Duke Boys drowned in the pond and that there was nothing left of them but their clothes.
