I always tell this story about this episode. It was after school in 1979 and a friend of mine had this box on his tv. He put some sort of a black cassette inside & we were watching this episode he taped a few days earlier. It was the first time I've ever seen a betamax recorder. I couldn't believe we were watching the Dukes of Hazzard and it was light outside. Amazing! We got a VCR in '82 and TV watching was never the same. Gone were the days of missing something and having to wait until summer reruns.
Great memories and the tv was half the size of a 🛋️ couch
And even when it WAS Summer and still light, you STILL raced home on your bike, to catch the Dukes re-runs by 8pm! 1979 was the best year of my life, literally the best! I would even watch the DALLAS intro-opening ,cos I was still excited from the DOH.

James Best is a very underrated actor. Such talent he shows in this scene.
A director once asked him to cry and he said "Ok. Which eye?"

When i was 8 or 9. My Uncle Howard tosed me the keys to his Pickup. Said can you drive this? I said ive seen every episode of the Dukes of Hazard. He said "Your qualified".
He taught me how to drive a stick shift car as well.

My favorite episode
This was one of my favorite episodes, it tickles me silly everytime I watch it!
I've got vague memory about this episode but I remember the General Lee glowing like that
I was 3 years old when it originally aired and I must have been half asleep cuz I had a big memory of it too I just remember the glowing car and I thought it was at the bottom of a pond. I remember seeing the episode 3 or 4 years later and saying okay that makes sense now and I was a little kid. It's neat seeing it 40 years later.
"Come on Rosco, get in. We'll drive ya all the way to the pearly gates...that is if they still let you in after what you done to us."
(Luke creepily laughs)
"How's ol' Rosco look now?"
(Luke looks through the improvised telescope)
"Like a cancelled stamp, this luminous paint works like a charm."

Out of every single episode I watched as a kid, I remember this one like I watched it yesterday.
That was hilarious. That would make you scared out of your shorts if it actually happened. That definitely made Sheriff Roscoe jump over the deep end. 😆😆😂😂

ya know I have a model car of the ghost of GL and it actually glows orange in the dark
The luminous paint made it look a pinkish white in the episode and nearly gave Rosco an episode. Would have been funnier if the ghost busters theme had been used in the chase.

Where Tom says “Rosco” that last time it sounds just like David Lee Roth singing in the song The cradle will rock when he sings “Rock-on”. As a kid I though he was saying “Rosco” like Tom
This clip should be added to one of the GOOFS videos. The Sheriff's office is in the Courthouse, and he walks from his office to the impound room. When the General Lee drives out of the Courthouse Rosco & Enos look across the street as the General crashes into a patrol car... in front of the Courthouse! In other words, the Courthouse they just left is BEHIND Rosco and Enos, while they are looking at the Courthouse in FRONT of them! (Look at the description on the building above the General Lee & the patrol car.)
I. Liked the opening song to. The dukes of hazard I also liked the scene where luke shoots the bow and arrow and blows up. The out house. Thomas of. Garden. City.

One lil detail I love, Rosco getting upset at the 'disrespect of the Duke boys'. Given how serious he was in breaking the news and when he was calling for a wrecker and an ambulance, you could still feel like he didnt want the Dukes to be used for a prank, defended them in a way, even if he was getting pulled into Boss' schemings.
