  • I am a pro at "shoulding" on myself.
    We all do it to some degree. We have a long list of behaviors and expectations that we tell ourselves we ought to live up to.
    I should get that degree.
    I should pursue that promotion.
    I should volunteer more.
    I should, I should, I should....
    All that self-imposed pressure can be overwhelming. And over time, it can affect our wellbeing and distract from other priorities in our lives.
    There is a better way.
    By making a habit of checking in with ourselves when we hear those stories in our heads about all the things we should do, we can become better at balancing the responsibilities of everyday life with what we WANT to do. And we can do this in a way that aligns with their values and goals.
