When you said fall collection, you weren’t kidding. The glass door falling, I was freaking out for you. So glad it was unharmed and remained intact. Had a mini heart attack.
I nearly died and screamed when that door/window fell, so loudly my husband came running through to see if I had fallen 😂😂. Drew, your eye and vision is something to behold. Those doors echo the ceiling and stripping back the windows is just bringing the whole room together. Amazingly inspirational.
Is it just me or does anyone else find these videos so relaxing? And I’m genuinely happy for him when he finds something he loves. You can just tell through the way he talks to not only us but people he interacts with during his outings in these videos that he’s just a genuine, nice person and that’s honestly why I subscribed and keep watching. 💛
When the door fell, I screamed and woke my husband up. He yelled, “Are you ok?” Lol. It was so funny-only because it didn’t break. I love what you are doing.
I almost had a ❤️attack. I was so impressed Drew recovered as fast as he did…I would have been playing the scene in my head for a while, thinking what would have happened if? Good for Drew!
Consult with a carpenter to determine if the stained glass windows are suitable for hinging and to be used as doors. The side stiles are pretty thin wood and they probably were originally fixed and decorative rather than functional.
I agree. There's bound to be solutions but it's important to invest wisely. Don't want to face disasters later on because you failed to do your research and course corrections. It would be disasterous to invest in property, security and insurance if they refuse to payout because the wrong thing was installed or something installed incorrectly.
Great points. in the end there is a solution, but it may not be installed as exterior doors. Your climate is different, but good points on how can be used.
@@ritaevans7125 I agree. Maybe a set of double glazed doors on the outside keeping the fancy doors for on the inside of the doors as 'window treatment' rather like blinds or curtains. Maybe the outside ones on hinges but fancy inside ones on sliding tracks but fancier than barn doors. The solution might just need a bit of creativity.
Honestly this style of switching from working on the house to sharing us part of your life is amazing. Makes it feel a lot more personal and seeing how it impact y our house turning it more into a home
I grew up in an 1890s house on the East Coast and the window trim and baseboards look like the same wood as what you have, especially the grain pattern. I think it's probably oak and it definitely looks original. You can probably take a photo of the wood and mail it to the local extension service or take it somewhere that wood is sold and a person there should be able to tell you. In the past, wood used to be varnished and varnish gets darker as it ages. I think that's what the darker layer over the wood is. The wood trim in our house had a layer of varnish over it. Varnishes can still be used today, but widespread use of varnishes fell out of favor, partly because they are highly flammable even when dry, and are toxic when applied. Let us know what you find out.
I agree that it is original. I owned a 1920's Mediterranean style house and this trim is very similar to what we had. It had mostly oak but also some mahogany in places. The grain looks more open so I'm leaning toward oak.
Your excitement over finding those doors is contagious. The minute you showed the first glimpse of that panel I was thinking, "That would make a great door option". You're so right ... you "haduh". LOL Update: OMG, that door falling ... Noooooo!!
Drew I’ve got to say, ever since you started uploading these hours vlogs I’ve been watching your channel more. I just love that you’re showing more of your life apart from interior design. You seem so much happier and relaxed. It’s also been nice seeing your taste develop more into an antique style.
Citristrip works great. Sometimes takes two coats. The first coat applied just like you did. Scrape off as much as you can. Apply another coat, cover, let it sit for a while, and scrape it off. Fine steel wool works well on the last of it. Always use a neutralizer and then mineral spirits. Takes time and patience and it has the potential to be messy. If you take your time, the product works! (Cannot believe the door survived the fall!)
It sounds to me as if you and your contractor have a miscommunication that could be a problem later. He isn’t mapping out the side walls in marble but you are when he said go straight up in a wrap. Please clarify with him.
That scream at 3:32; I screamed right along with you 🤩 I’m just living vicariously through you! So fun! Thanks for sharing your journey with us ❤️ EDIT: 6:56 😱😱😱😱 Drew! OMG! I held my breath for a full minute I swear. I screamed so loud my puppers came running worried. When I say that you had an angel with you, I mean shew! Your new house is blessed my friend!
He had just told us that he has the doors open, due to a great breeze. When he opened the door and began to move his new doors in the opening, I was yelling "No Drew. The breeze" And then the breeze came and tippied the door over. I died a little inside....
I would personally love seeing more behind the scenes vlog life style videos like the photo shoot and other exciting things going on in your life. :) thanks so much for sharing this renovation with us and can’t wait to see how those countertops and the backsplash turn out!
I would be happy with anything you want to include in your vlogs. This one seemed to have just the right amount of personal content mixed in with home and decor content. Can’t wait to see the next house video and what’s next for the kitchen!
I saw that glass door move and screamed out loud “oh my gosh, DREW!”….like I was there and you could hear me, hello! So happy for you that it didn’t break! 😅
The wood still has some varnish and stain on it. You will have to sand it down to get to the actual wood and it is probably oak. Also be careful with the heat gun, left in one spot to long and the wood burns under the layers.
I agree that its oak (probably red oak considering what the grain looks like), and that it has either a heavy varnish or glaze finish left on much of the surface. Steel wool and denatured alchohol is the way to go. Then some sanding pads of various grits will take it down to the natural wood and the sanding will help tighten up the grain - should be beautiful when you're done.
yes yes yes i love the extra insight to your everyday life! the small vlog additions give us more background and understanding of your schedule, social side, along with just hearing anything outside of renovations; makes us feel more involved within the life of Drew! . Along with taking us along to each adventure or car ride convos! i hope the extra adventures stay in the regularly scheduled program lol
Sputtering right now. Almost choked on my tea as I screamed along with you when the window fell forward. Whew! Thank you for constantly giving us, your viewers, quality content. So happy you have your own place. I watch your channel to relax and be inspired. Wishing you all the best!
The door started to fall and then a commercial came on and I realized I was holding my breath till the video resumed! So glad it didn't break, what a cliff hanger moment that was. I'm pretty sure we would love to watch anything you wanted to put up and I loved watching your fall collection shoot, so yeah, you post it and we'll watch for sure.🥰🤩
About the window trims: sand all the way down and restain them! It'll be a lot of work, but the finish will look waaay better. Those GORGEOUS stained glass doors deserve gorgeous window companions!
Those windows were a GREAT find and will look amazing as doors. When you said you were afraid it would fall as you walked away, and then it fell, I levitated off the bed and scared my golden doodles out of a good nap!! Geez Louise, I'm so glad that didn't shatter into a million pieces.
I love how the pattern on the “doors” really accentuates the wood work of the rafters! And OMG I about had a heart attack when that one fell! Thank GOD everything is fine but damn what a roller coaster ride
I can’t even express how much I love your new home and all you’re doing!!!! Those windows? I am dying. A rather misleading title to this video, though, Drew. Watching how much of your heart, thought, love and beautifully detailed effort you put into your work shows your luck is definitely earned. I love having your daily events included in the videos. Thank you!
Rub the wood trim with steel wool dipped in paint stripper. The darker wood tone could be old varnish which has darkened over the years. Hard to tell what the wood variety is from your video
That hundred-year-old Amber shellac is what's making the wood a little darker. It's been on there so long it's probably easy to sand off with a little bit of 80 grit.
STOP! You're killing me with the door falling and you screaming! 🤣 priceless! And to your question about how these videos are going, I'm enjoying this new vlog style with all the things and your day to day much more than before. Every video has me cracking up and enjoying the progress! Love it!
I GASPED!!!!!!!! (From the beauty of those panes, BUT WHEN IT FELLLLLLLLLL LOOORRRDDD HAVVVE MERCCY ONN MY SOULLLLL) I'm LOVING this series!! I get second hand excitement, it's so refreshing to see someone renovate a home to it's original essence, what you're doing is tremendous!! Can't wait for next week!! xxo
Those stained glass windows look like they belong there! Years ago we owned 1920’s house with near identical wood trim. I believe it was fir. To protect your new windows you might want to put up an iron Juliette balcony of sorts on the outside. Just love watching you work on this house- it’s going to be epic! Cheers from 🇨🇦🤗❤️
I wonder how many people including myself jumped and freaked when the door fell lol, so glad for you that it is safe, wonderful doors/windows. Congrats
I work in clay, so having things make breathtaking falls is part of my life. Still, when the door fell my heart stopped! I love seeing the house progress. I like shopping with you. I like seeing the event. I guess I like it all.
OMG, I didn't really love the doors in the store....but then, you got them home and ohhhh wow!!!! These doors are perfect in this room!! That's the colors you were looking for in the walls. I mean, when you put these doors up, the wall colors transformed, wow! Then, seeing the natural wood from the windows, it's gorgeous. The wood from the windows look original because the stain is that same weird dark colors from the 1920's. I'm excited now to see this room finished. YAY!!! This is why I watch you, I learn from the Master.
Omg Drew! You are literally TRYING to kill me with that door drop!!! I totally SCREAMED!! And then, at that exact moment, AS the door was falling, the video... CUT TO COMMERCIAL!! WHAT!!!! No no no no no!!!!! But I'm so glad it didn't break! They're so beautiful, that would have been a shame! As for additional content - YES PLEASE!!! Give me ALL the Lone Fox content!! Have a great day! :)
Hey! :) You can actually find out the exact date of manufacture of the windows: On a double pain window the date is usually printed in between the two pains of glass or sometimes on the window seal. Your windows right now look like PVC... so definitely not from the 1920s. It would be so nice to update them to more authentic looking wooden windows with modern insulation. It would really complete and elevate the whole look and atmosphere of your stunning home!
I agree, these newer windows were fitted within the existing window frames with a new frame. It's a cheap way to update windows but it reduces the size of the glass and makes the frame super large. Considering how many windows this home has, I can see why the previous owners made that choice, but it's such a shame...
My last house was built in 1896. It had very similar window trim. The shellac is a dead giveaway to age. Love the lime wash color antler. Looks like suede. Really enjoy your channel 💕💕
I literally held my breath! 😳 Thank God it didn't break. But right after, I laughed so hard when you reacted! I so needed this video. I'm sitting on my couch mentally exhausted from homework. I'm in my graduate program and it is frying my brain cells, SO HARD! I just wanted to relax and I clicked your video. You gave me a little happiness! 😊 I truly enjoy watching your progress in the house. And if you want to include us in outside of remodeling, I'm honored! 😇 Just make sure you take have some down time to relax and take things in. That's important! Keep up the good work! It's inspiring! 🙌
Drew, You crack me up!!!😂 Your laugh is contagious. Loved the scream, loved your reaction to the doors falling, love your personality! Sending you best wishes on this beautiful home restoration project. You rock!😊👍
I like your makeover and shopping footage so much! Please consider putting your merch at the end of the video instead of in the middle. Those door windows look as if they were made for that room! Your eye for good design is extraordinary - I love your work and your way of filming - your conversation, pace - everything you do on your channel is terrific!
The trim looks like there’s still shellac- ask your contractor, he’s got a wealth of wisdom. This would make sense since that is a bear to strip- often paint was chosen when a person became exhausted 😩. Also-Please ask him to do the new doors. I’m 70- an avid DIYer (married to a historical contractor for 10 years) so I understand both ends of the spectrum. The window sashes are thin to hang and he’ll know if reinforcements are needed. 😘Elizabeth
Those doors are STUNNINGGG! I literally fully gasped with hand over mouth and everything when it started falling, oh your poor heart!! Beautiful fall collection, you never disappoint!
As the door started falling, I screamed and spilled my tea all over my book. I like to the addition of events and snippets of other aspects of your work/life. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creative soul.
OMG!!! My dog had to come check on me because I gasped and yelled "DREW!" when your door fell. I'm so glad it was okay! Don't you LOVE it when you find something so perfect it is like it was meant to be? What treasures you have!
I love the vlog style videos into everyday life. But also, I'm kind of a fan of the 2nd channel concept for them, like what Macenna does. The makeover videos are my urgent must watch, whereas the vlog style videos I sometimes take a few days to catch up. It's kinda nice too because when I was an early viewer and less invested I only wanted the PRIME content, but now that I've been watching for years I love every little insight. Also, I'm not on insta and sometimes it feels like I miss some things because of that, so I enjoy the vlogs.
OMG!! DREW!! When I saw the window starting to go down I literally screamed, “LOOK OUT!!!” I scared my dogs and they jumped up to see what was wrong. I cannot believe all of that glass didn’t break. You are meant to have them. Okay, I’m going to continue watching. I hope there’s nothing else coming because my heart and my dogs can’t take anymore fears tonight.
Your child nearly gave me a heart attack momma with that door falling, I heard you scream too. Hardly a dull moment with him. He is so much fun to watch!
Likely mahogany w varnish. Yes, original and typical of the 1920s Tudor. We live in a 1916 craftsman and many of our neighbors have homes like yours. Keep it wherever you can. Gorgeous!
@@suzanneribas3746 thank u for watching!! He laughed about it but I guarantee that was a nervous laugh! Things like that From soooo many years ago are irreplaceable and so hard to find. Have a nice night😉
I don't think any other video has ever made me shriek the way that door falling did!!! Oh my word. The balcony off to the right of those doors though, is sweetness itself. I'd love to see more of it feature. I'm loving the vlog style of your videos. Makes me feel more like I'm actually in the space too.
The window trim looks like oak. I personally would strip, sand, and restain just to make sure it's all in good shape and consistent. The sawdust mixed with wood glue can help repair any damage hidden under the paint before restaining
Omg when the door fell …… your reaction was priceless it was like a comedy sketch l couldn’t stop laughing especially as you had gone on about how much you loved them soooo much. l rewatched a few times ….. l was relieved that it didn’t break and l can’t wait to see them in place …… l love your channel xx
It wasn't even my door and yet my life flashed before my eyes when the door fell, lol. Oh my goodness, I'm so happy you had things to pad the fall, I would've burst out in tears for you had it broken!
Drew this was so hysterical- your excitement and giddiness, the screaming in car " to let it all out", mom on speaker phone while you rhapsodize over windows and finally the window falling over ( exactly how I would written the scene in a screenplay)- but after all the laughter- those window panels ARE amazing AND look like they are original to house ( wow could they be?)
Drew, I had an absolute heart attack when you were leaning those windows against the wall. Thank goodness that it didn't break!! Love your videos, thank you so much!
Omg, when that window fell.... My heart dropped out of my chest and I went numb. It literally took me a few minutes to calm down and find my breath again... Lol. Sooo very glad there was no damage. ❤️
Writing from down the road in San Diego. 🤗 Just LOVE your new home - I’ve always wanted an old California mission craftsman. ❤️ But we have a lovely ranch style in a great locale so I’m just adding “oldness”. Regarding your window trim: the good news is it looks original. The owners kept so many other original elements, I bet these are too. The bad news is they’ll look best fully stripped, sanded and restained. Lots of work. But the dark wood looks so beautiful in that room with the new doors and the ceiling beams! Just gorgeous. 😍 So happy for you.
I LOVE these video’s the hardest part is when it is over! I wish they could last so much longer! 🤪 so good like a dream! Everything about this is totally my style! So I will be living vicariously through you and these amazing vlogs! Thank you for sharing all of it. You are so talented.. I screamed out loud when I saw that window starting to fall OMG you got lucky on that one....
Hi LF! I'm no expert, but I've lived on both coasts in old buildings and the window frames look original. My guess is the darker color under the stripped paint probably was a lacquer that would have been the original finish; the lighter color is where it's been stripped to expose the natural wood. The layers of paint are a good indication of how many years those babies have been there. I love and am so impressed by how your design skills and personal esthetic has developed in the few years you've been posting videos. Also, so impressed by how hard you work and how generously you share. Thank you!!!
I really liked seeing the shoot for your website-that was fun! Wish you had shown off the merchandise a little more. It is always so much better to see something moving, something live, than just pictures! And I loved seeing the event too! What an absolutely gorgeous space! Thank you for all you share with us! I am so glad I found you!
I about had a heart attack when that glass door fell, then the video immediately went to an ad, so I had to wait and see that it was ok! haha Whew! Happy to see it didn't break! I love how the doors look with the sunshine through them! Beautiful Drew, good find! I'm happy with any video you put up, however, I do love when you go shopping to all the great stores! Thanks for sharing Drew! ❤
I am so happy for you!!!! I screamed out loud when the window fell and my animals were jolted in the process!! I know you are not my son, but I am so proud of you and I am in awe of your creative talent! (scratch that) I mean, GENIUS!
Omg Iv Been living for these videos recently can’t wait to follow this journey and see how your spaces transform 🤩your style is such a vibeeee 😩😩 !! 🥰🥰 Edit: omg 😱 I can not believe the window honestly my heart stopped 😮💨
Omg the door!!!! The wooden frames around the window look original with some sort of varnish, but that could probably be verified. The new fall collection is epic and omg “the late night pot deal” had me dying! I’m excited for the projects to come. I’d love to see you incorporate some decor items from your store into future makeovers!
OMG! You are unbelievably lovable! And when door fell !!!! and the REPLAY.... I was shocked and laughing and crying all at the same time. Love love love your work!
I loved seeing the behind the scenes of the Lonefox fall collection! Can’t wait to check out the collection! You inspired me to redo our guest room in a vintage theme, and it’s been so fun buying the bed, the vintage dresser, paint, wanes coating, etc.
I loved seeing the behind the scene snippets. I am late to the Lone Fox team here but am absolutely loving your channel! This new home project has been such a joy to watch it unfold and I cannot wait to see all your designs and styling. Too fun :)
I'm here for the home content, not for the social life stuff, but I 100% think you should do whatever makes you happy! And it's also ok if that changes over time. You don't want to find yourself stuck with a channel that didn't grow with you. But do keep in mind that it can be quite an intrusion on daily/social life to feel like you have to film everything. That may not be the best for your mental health. But truly, this is YOUR channel, share what YOU like to share.
Omg... my heart stopped when that door fell!! I gasped so loudly that my dog came over to see what was wrong! 😂 I don't know if you noticed, but the design of the wood trim on the stained glass doors mirrors the ceiling rafters. It's as if they were made for that space! I love them! That window trim is definitely original and gorgeous.
Drew go off with the vlogs, I love seeing your day to day! Especially as someone who struggles to balance work/home improvement/life. It’s nice to see how others balance it out
Drew - OMG, I literally jumped up from my chair as the window/door fell! You are so lucky that there was no damage. So here's a thought - the current french doors are gorgeous as is plus the new stain glass are truly windows and not doors so I'm really not sure that they can be retrofitted to become doors. Why not: 1 Find a plainer window or doorway to fit them in and leave that gorgeous leaded door as is, or 2. They looked great standing on each side of the leaded door; So mount them with twilight lighting behind them to turn on in the evenings. They'd serve as mood lighting and art work!; or 3. Use them as a room divider in a large opening or doorway. Just some ideas; however, I know what ever you decide it will be gorgeous!!!
I've enjoyed your videos ever since I discovered them, but I'm especially enjoying watching you shop, make selections, etc. for your new home. I'm sure it's going to be a real treasure!
Actually GASPED!! So glad those beautiful doors fit perfectly and didn’t break. Binging ALL the home series today. Got my snacks and comfy blanket. Lol. Soooo loving your home and AMAZING style. That marble sink…omg…want that vibe. Congratulations on what I’m certain will be a masterpiece!! 🎉
OMG!!! I about almost had a heart attack! Thank goodness that window did not break, it’s beautiful!!! My husband and I yelled, “oh shit!!!”😂 absolutely I want to see more behind the scenes. You’re adorable and love, love seeing how far you’ve come. So happy for you!!!❤
I am fairly new to this channel. Been watching since you bought the house. I thoroughly enjoy watching the remodel. It’s like watching my favorite TV series … always a Cliff hanger at the end and I have to wait to see what comes next in the next episode, leaves me wanting more every time. Love what you’re doing with the house! ❤️❤️😍🔨🪚🪜🪟🪑
Hi Drew, your house is going to look so stunning. I love the stripped back window trims, the wood looks like meranti, but I'm not sure. I would strip down completely and restain once the door frames are in, that way you can stain all the wood the same colour. I was thinking the window frames would look good painted black, a good contrast with the wood trim. I almost fainted when the door panel fell, thank goodness it all ended well. Cant wait to see the marble counter tops and splash backs. Love the way the throws were filmed draped over the ladder. Thanks for sharing, take care Gale x PS your hair is looking so healthy and is such a beautiful colour.
The video was epic Drew! Love the fall collection, the photo shoot, the door falling (even though I was one of your subscribers who thought I was having a mini stroke when it fell), the oliveatelier event,….. The doors. Well, the doors are incredible! I love how the wood dividers on the doors mirror the ceiling. Just awesome!
That "door" is a window, by my thinking, since it's off the ground level.Southern homes had those to accommodate indoor-outdoor summer living in porches and balcony type situations. Imagine if you found the original windows! Maybe you could take the hinges off the old doors to use for the new ones, assuming the hinges are worthy.
The first scream in the car was sooooooooooooooooo much fun. But, when the window fell!!!!????? I screamed!! I'm so glad it didn't break. You got your money's worth. Love everything included in this video. Keep it up!
Drew, I really hope you’ll continue to allow us to follow along with all your remodeling! Like others, my ♥️went to my throat when the panel fell! I think you were born under a lucky⭐️!
I actually said, “Dude!” as you rested that vintage stained glass window in the opened door frame….I was fearful of a fall in the other direction-but that was scary and suspenseful! So glad it was safe.
You're so busy & are always up to something share what you're comfortable with but seeing more is always welcomed. I about had a heart attack when that window fell. I'm so glad it didn't break. I grew up in an old farm house built in 1911 that wood from what can tell looks older, but by no means I know much about this stuff. I just enjoy all that you are & do. Thanks for bringing us along.
Hard to tell what wood that is with the current finish, but I'm leaning towards red oak. Remove the rest of the finish down to bare wood. Loving your remodeling videos !
I am so impressed by your style and eye for beautiful things. I'm getting ready to remodel all 3 of our bathrooms and when I saw the stone sinks in one of your previous videos, I fell in love with them! Most everything you feature is my style as well. I loved your fall collection and the 'event' was dreamy. In my opinion on the window frames, please leave the wood exposed as they are so beautiful and it will match the beams.
I think everything inside of me 💗 DROPPED when that door 🚪 fell!! OH MY!!! You were SO lucky! Great video! I love a hodge podge of everything...I think it keeps things fresh.
Drew when your door fell my hands went out and I screamed no like I could have caught it or prevented it from falling!!! My heart was in my mouth! The doors are gorgeous, I’m so grateful that the glass didn’t break! I love seeing what goes on during your day. I’m a fairly new subscriber of a month or so and I love interior design, decor and making a house a home, making my space cozy! For me the secret is accessories! When I downsized eleven years ago from my house to an apartment, I downsized my furniture but not my accessories! Keep up the great work Drew!
I've found you recently. I must have rewatched your apartment reveal to the landlord 20 times. Such a beautiful job. You are such a joy to watch. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Just LOVE the content today. Including bits of your life just creates magic! Cheers from Montana
When you said fall collection, you weren’t kidding. The glass door falling, I was freaking out for you. So glad it was unharmed and remained intact. Had a mini heart attack.
LOLOLOL not the fallllll collection!
Me too 😭 I was screaming inside
I was trying so hard to reach out and catch it for you! I let out a real gasp and a few other words.
The way I started yelling “Drew, DREW!” When it started falling 😅😂
I actually gasped!
I nearly died and screamed when that door/window fell, so loudly my husband came running through to see if I had fallen 😂😂. Drew, your eye and vision is something to behold. Those doors echo the ceiling and stripping back the windows is just bringing the whole room together. Amazingly inspirational.
I did the same and my husband shouted are you ok 😂. I felt so sick but relieved when it was intact.
I screamed too 😱. Whew I am so glad it didn't break 😁
I screamed too. Then told my husband a furphy reason why.
Same here
Jinx!
Haha...same here. I had my headphones on, and screeched!!!
I yelled "nooooooo!" I may have had a little heart attack 😂
I gasped and covered my mouth in disbelief “Nooo!” Then total relief and more disbelief!
I almost had a ❤️attack. I was so impressed Drew recovered as fast as he did…I would have been playing the scene in my head for a while, thinking what would have happened if? Good for Drew!
Same! Almost had a heart attack! So glad it didn't break!

Definitely oak! 👌🏼

Yep. What they said!
That scream at 3:32; I screamed right along with you 🤩
I’m just living vicariously through you! So fun! Thanks for sharing your journey with us ❤️
EDIT: 6:56 😱😱😱😱 Drew! OMG! I held my breath for a full minute I swear. I screamed so loud my puppers came running worried. When I say that you had an angel with you, I mean shew! Your new house is blessed my friend!
You and me both screamed at 3:32 🤩Then again at 6:53 😯
@@justmealways3884 exactly! Lol! I actually held my breath until he picked it up and it wasn’t broken!
I screamed and INSTINCTIVELY jumped forward when that door fell. Thanks for giving us all a heart attack Drew!! 😅
🤣
I would be happy with anything you want to include in your vlogs. This one seemed to have just the right amount of personal content mixed in with home and decor content. Can’t wait to see the next house video and what’s next for the kitchen!
So happy to hear that!
Agreed :)
Definitely!
I agree!
This definitely was the perfect balance of personal and home content!
When that door started falling, my heart jumped out of my chest! I cannot imagine what you were feeling! 🤯
I saw that glass door move and screamed out loud “oh my gosh, DREW!”….like I was there and you could hear me, hello! So happy for you that it didn’t break! 😅
I did the same thing my husband on the couch next to me said, "what in the world is wrong with you!" Lol
I was just then thinking that a gust of win might do just that.
@@toppcatt5113 me too 😲
The wood still has some varnish and stain on it. You will have to sand it down to get to the actual wood and it is probably oak. Also be careful with the heat gun, left in one spot to long and the wood burns under the layers.
Denatured alcohol and steel wool works well to remove old varnish. Use good ventilation though! It's hard on your lungs.
Denatured alcohol is highly flammable. Be careful how you treat the rags or dispose of them. It works great for the varnish!
Yes to all these comments. Sand, stain, finish
I would definetly use Speedheater for this. Even faster then the heat gun and much more safe to use 👌
I’ve used citrus strip , it typically takes it off in layers. You might want to test each layer for lead. The older layers may well have lead paint.
CAME TO SAY THIS
Yes, the lead test only works on the layers it touches, so you only tested the outer layer.
@@katieb710 but he scrapped it to the wood, so then he has all the layes tested
yes yes yes i love the extra insight to your everyday life! the small vlog additions give us more background and understanding of your schedule, social side, along with just hearing anything outside of renovations; makes us feel more involved within the life of Drew! . Along with taking us along to each adventure or car ride convos! i hope the extra adventures stay in the regularly scheduled program lol
Your rebuilders are amazing. I can't believe how fast you are bringing this all together.
I'm impressed, too. It's hard to find folks like that where we live - especially ones who will actually show up!
I'm really pushing to move in so I don't have to pay extra rent at the moment and then we can take some more time to really design and have fun!
Me too 🫣holding breath
@@jenjohnson8287 I just knew it was going to shatter! It made me jump for sure.🤣🤣
I love that the team working on the house are down to be on camera, it's so interesting to see what they're doing.
I love how the pattern on the “doors” really accentuates the wood work of the rafters! And OMG I about had a heart attack when that one fell! Thank GOD everything is fine but damn what a roller coaster ride
They accentuate it perfectly!
It just missed that paint can!!
Also clean off the gunk with mineral spirits.
That hundred-year-old Amber shellac is what's making the wood a little darker. It's been on there so long it's probably easy to sand off with a little bit of 80 grit.
While the steel wool does work, it can often darken the wood unintentionally and that can't be removed.
Instead of steel wool, brass wool can be used. Order from Garret Wade
The dynamics of the doors perfectly match the wood trusses of the ceiling!!
I agree!

Drew, You crack me up!!!😂
Your laugh is contagious.
😘Elizabeth
I totally agree. I was about to write that it really looked like shellac, so that might be a good idea to look into it.
I agree that there is shellac on the trim.
I agree with the doors.
A good way to test for shellac is to use denatured alcohol rubbed on with steel wool. It will allow you to see the wood at a more natural state.
I loved this vlog! It had home and more personal, day-to-day things (fall shoot, events etc) so pleaseeee feel free to include more things like these!
So happy you enjoyed :) The shoots are seasonal so it's not a super common occurrence but fun to add in!
only don't drop anything else!!
I know how hard you have worked on this collection and I can’t wait to start shipping everyone’s orders!! ❤️MOM
AWW Thank you mom!
Gorgeous!

I don't think any other video has ever made me shriek the way that door falling did!!! Oh my word. The balcony off to the right of those doors though, is sweetness itself. I'd love to see more of it feature. I'm loving the vlog style of your videos. Makes me feel more like I'm actually in the space too.
Anything you add to your vlog is wonderful! You're such a creative and fun person. Keep up the fun!
OMGosh! I screamed when the door was falling! I am so happy to see it did not break!
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your style, I hope to be able to hire you someday to help me decorate my home!
Keep up the great work my friend.

Drew, your beauty and kindness shines through your contente. I gasped when the door fell and my heart pounded like ot was my own haha love your videos
That door falling in slow motion nearly made my heart stop - you were obviously born under a lucky star, Drew!
Omg... my heart stopped when that door fell!! I gasped so loudly that my dog came over to see what was wrong! 😂 I don't know if you noticed, but the design of the wood trim on the stained glass doors mirrors the ceiling rafters. It's as if they were made for that space! I love them!
That window trim is definitely original and gorgeous.

I love seeing you out and about. Lovely to see you having a good time. Love your doors 🚪 and all your ideas. Xxx 😘

Yes love the extra insight to your everyday life. The falling door was intense! So glad it didn't break, so they are sturdier than they look.
I agree on your red oak estimation. The stripper may have opened up and raised the grain.
I agree! Looks like expensive oak, which would most likely be original.
Red oak or cedar. Cedar was pretty common then too.
1/4 sawn red oak is what I first thought. But with it being so dark I thought maybe Mahogany.
Love how it's coming along!♥️ And also love you adding bits and pieces of other things you do.
Love the doors! And yes, share blogs of other things you do!❤️
Drew when your door fell my hands went out and I screamed no like I could have caught it or prevented it from falling!!!
My heart was in my mouth!
The doors are gorgeous, I’m so grateful that the glass didn’t break!
I love seeing what goes on during your day.

When I downsized eleven years ago from my house to an apartment, I downsized my furniture but not my accessories!
Keep up the great work Drew!
