Look at Paul standing on his own among the titans of rock and roll. The guy was so god giftedly talented it's unbelievable.
Paul is THE titan of Rock N Roll as he was once in a wee Band called The Beatles..
That's right, we are so lucky ! :)
Was? Still is.
Looking carefully and I can't see anybody more titanic than Paul on that stage there's a reason why he is always the closing act of this kind of all-stars concerts.
Awesome version of lucille
Paulie was on fire, I've always loved his raspy dirty vocals, he's beyond the legend!
He learned to scream on pitch from Little Richard.
Entreno su voz desde que era un jovencito tan bello mi Paul
@@jonathanbanks8749 oh oh gracias
That's the most fun I've ever seen John Paul Jones having during a performance lol
ROBERT PLANT WAS PLAYING PAUL'S HOFNER!!!!! :O
Doubting he was playing it as it was upside down being Paul is a lefty
@@michaelradzicki2004 It was Pauls. He was playing it upside down
Who cares?
My two besties are madly in love with Robert and Paul so this excites me
Robert Plant is playing Paul’s Hofner Bass ‘upside down’! Classic 👍
Is John Paul Jones... not Plant...Laurence Juber let me know a few minutes back..
@@Virpatrick No, it's Robert Plant
@@Virpatrickthat's Robert
A vocalist using his voice... very rare indeed.
townshend is fucking hammered!
🤣🤣🤣
That look; his 👀 literally roll back!
Gotta give him points for not jumping in when PM stepped back from the mic, as if to make room. ‘Nah, man, I am *blasted*!’
Paul af his vocal peak I think . Love it
They don’t rock ‘em like this anymore
I highly dig this version and Macca's voice is just so raspy! "I asked my friends about it, but all their lips were tight!" And Bonham's in the band!
Yes Robert Plant is playing Paul's hofner. This was the very first live sighting of the Hofner since Beatle days. It went back to its case after Kampuchea and Paul wouldn't use it live again until his 89 tour.
Is John Paul Jones... not Plant...Laurence Juber let me know a few minutes back.. Yes, since the Apple roof concert ,
Plant and Jones are both there. Plant is playing Paul's Hofner as Nahuel said.
Well he must be playing upside down as Paul is left handed and so is original bass
You can watch the Rockpile video with Robert Plant doing Little Sister from this same concert.
It is clearly Robert Plant who is 'playing' Paul's Hofner bass.
@@geoff6414 it is upside down, all the controls are under Plants arm while playing
The most subdued John Bonham performance ever
you shoulda seen him on the ledzep "helter skelter" cover......NOT
Outstanding video recording of a great show -hell of a band, Paul at his best. I think Pete was envisioning a duet, Paul wasn't.
Looks like when PM took a step away from the mic to make room…Pete thought better of it. Sorta impressive that someone that trashed is still ambulatory.
Robert Plant playing a Hofner Bass. That's something you don't see everyday
You are okay It`s Paul`s bass...he`s playing the hofner upside down... 2:39
@@Virpatrick I know
Is John Paul Jones... not Plant...Laurence Juber let me know a few minutes back..
@@Virpatrick look closer. Plant is there playing Paul's Hofner beside JPJ
@@Fredrockroll Again, Laurence Juber (Wings guitarrist in that period... the guy playing the cherry SG) let me know that the guy playing the Hofner was JPJ not Plant... don`t think you know more than LJ! I`m just sharing what we`ve been chatting with Laurence Juber via message in facebook a couple of hours ago.... that`s it . :) Cheers
I was only 10 years old at the time when I saw this video on MTV, just learning about how rock and roll worked, and I thought they were out to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the greatest rock and roll band ever assembled! It looked a crowd on stage--2,000 guitar players, five drummers (I know I'm exaggerating, but that's what it looked like to me!) Some of these guys were from bands I'd already seen on MTV, like the Pretenders and Elvis Costello. I thought, "this must be what rock and roll heaven" looks like!"
Paul McCartney - vocals, bass, piano
Linda McCartney - keyboards, backing vocals
Denny Laine - electric guitar
Laurence Juber - electric guitar
Steve Holley - drums
David Gilmour - electric guitar
Pete Townshend - electric guitar
Hank Marvin - electric guitar
Tony Ashton - keyboards
Gary Brooker - piano
Bruce Thomas - bass
Ronnie Lane - bass
John Paul Jones - bass, piano
John Bonham - drums
Kenney Jones - drums
Ray Cooper - percussion
Tony Carr - percussion
Morris Pert - percussion
Howie Casey - horns
Tony Dorsey - horns
Steve Howard - horns
Thaddeus Richard - horns
Speedy Acquaye - percussion
Are you sure that wasn't the studio version's credits?
Mary Wealth I think you’re right. Dave Edmunds and James Honeyman Scott are obviously there but not on that list....hmmmm??
James Honeyman-Scott - guitar
Robert Plant on bass.
You didn't list Robert Plant who is definitely there, he sticks out like a sore thumb to me cause my bestie is madly in love with him
REST IN PEACE LITTLE RICHARD . (LUCILLE) .
It appears Townsend was on the "YAM YAM" at this particular time.
This was awesome
can i find a dvd with that live!Mccartney's vocals were stunning
McCartney appropriately sang the ONLY vocal on this R&R classic here, and fronted this amazing congregation of this then current (1979) R&R talent.
The ultimate garage band!
so payasa
Best version
I came here because my two besties are in love with Robert Plant and Paul McCartney
This is why McCartney is one of my four on the Mt. Rushmore of Rock- he has stage presence as shown here, but also required to be on my 'Mt. Rushmore', one must also be able to write, compose, play multiple instruments and vocalize, which Mr. 'M' excels at.
'C'mon Pete.. put the coat on!'
WHAT TOTAL GREATNESS!!!
Paul the undisputed musical creative genius. 🎶💕
Wow, thanks so much for posting this. I bought the vinyl way back in the day but have never SEEN this performance. Yeah, Paul's voice was really in top form!
Me in high school listening to this, with my partner Lucia sitting next to me I love it!! 🥰🥰
RIP ROCK GOD LITTLE RICHARD
Night of greatest stars
But Paul is boss of rock bass and vocal
Macca, you're outstanding
I saw a clip of Martha Quinn circa 1981 in which she named this as her favorite music video (up to that time).
Back in the early days of MTV this video was frequently played.
Martha Quinn had a huge crush on Paul.
@@wobby1268what woman didn’t?😂
Pitty nowadays we cant have a supergroup like this one....
Rumor has it that Paul let Robert Plant play his hofner.
Given he is playing it right handed, either he completely re strung it, or it is a different Hoffner.
@@pauljw11 If you look closely you can see he flipped it and played it upside down.
Rumor has it that my besties are in love with Paul and Robert are gonna be so excited to see this video
I'm Glad It's Your Birthday. Happy Birthday To You!!!
They used to play this one on MTV in the early days. I remembered there being more footage of Bonham.
Well, I think that's been close to thirty-seven years or so that I've seen that
Same!!
Me too. I actually have the LP... Still love it.
Love that Pete didn't get notice to wear the fancy gold jacket
According to his autobiography, he flat out refused to wear it
@@colujomes what a hero! Really
heroic man, implacable
WOW!
Pete is the greatest
Una vez mas,nos demuestra por que es tan grande.
No band,no artist, compared to these guys! McCartney, PERIOD!!
Macca could sure bealt out a vocal back then
Pete Townshend said he has no memory of playing this encore or The who's set.
Must’ve been THAT hammered 🤣
yes

Legal Sr Paul McCartney um gênio da música pop mundial ok galera
John Paul Jones is in the top hat next to Plant, that's why he keeps looking at him so he can "play" along on Paul's left-handed Hofner bass LOL
@roger adams He's on the upper level to the left. You can see him at the 2:45 mark
Bonham at 2:45
Townshend had just downed a bottle of Remy Martin apparently. Not that it shows.
Lol- He sure gave Pauly a creepy leer during this song. Lol
3 de Abril de 1981 se edita en Inglaterra el Doble LP Concerts for the people of Kampuchea, grabado en vivo del 26 al 29 de Diciembre de 1979 en Londres, bajo el auspicio de Paul McCartney.Datos libro Beatles.
Sounds like The Beatles with a little help from some friends.. .💪
Pete Townsend lol 1:28
He was HAMMERED at this event.
This is the only time I have ever seen Sir Paul with a Fender bass guitar...
it's a Yamaha BB1200 bass, NOT. a Fender
He used the Fender all throughout the Wings
Townshend had one to many before taking the stage.
He was aging in reverse, he looks like he is about to sing "she loves you"
Townshend is utterly shitted out of it !
lucille equals john o'boogie winston. "COMING UP" too bad it didn't happen. and you know, there are people who think if it was not for charity ( a concert), then, 'just as well'.
H MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
esa vos es inconfundible, esa manera de cantar solo es del unico paul maccartney noticia sigue vivo casi a sus ocnenta
Arrepiei!!! Muito Booom!

i still do😩😩😩👨🚀🧑🚀👩🚀⛹♀🏌♀🏌♀🏌♀🏌♀🧘♂🧘🧘♀🚔🚔🎠🎪💈💈👗👗👓
That is definitely Robert Plant on the Hofner bass, not John Paul Jones. Plant had the poofy curly hair, and JPJ did not. Further proof, here is JPJ at the event: sahiwal.tv/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/paul-mccartney-pete-townshend.jpg
Idk why anyone think it's Jonesy
James Honeyman Scott at 2:20...like seeing a ghost
What on earth was Townshend on?
Only Paul McCartney could get Robert Plant to play Bass, John Bonham to play from a sheet and John Paul Jones to play with a bucket on his head
R .I P Roger Bowling
Omfg Robert plant is playing guitar while Paul sings
I wonder if Plant asked permission to play Paul's Hofner? (right handed, I might add.)
The bass Paul is playing is not a precision bass, it's a Yamaha bass!!!
yap a BB 1200
00:43 is Robert Plant?
Robert Plant back❤
was that a threat, at 2:24 ?
Damn but they were good
Is just me or when Peter Townsend come up to the mic feels a little weird?
meant to, i think: taking a piss out of paulie, which paul got (huge smile to pete)
I hate how he just blocks my bestie's crush and then gives creepy stares
So much amazing talent but what's the saying about too many cooks.
who killed kirsty maccoll, and why?
then harmonizing with Linda McCartney on "Let it Be"...
1:35 Same generation....different attitude.
Pardon?
Howie Casey - sax
yeah but they cut out pete freaking out and everyone moves out of his way
oh and did i metion hes blown as fuck
I think you meant the end piece, The Rockestra Theme! Pete let's his guitar rip just like he was!😉

Didn’t Bonham play drums on this?
The original yeah. Moon apparently died less than a month before it was recorded, but idk if that is correct.
@@NoOne-kr4jcMoon died in September of 1978. These concerts were in December of 1979.
@@lindaslattery8341Thank you very much.
Was Paul shooing Pete away?
yes
@@Bella-nt7ec Well then, was Pete / The Who put in their place as significantly inferior to the Beatles? I wonder how Pete felt about that.
@@bradwelljackson6385 😊 I guess like everyone else. There are the Beatles and then everyone else
@@Bella-nt7ec Yes, noted, but would Paul have shooed away Mick Jagger like that? ; )
@bradwelljackson6385 The Beatles most successful and influential. The Who greatest live band.
.....sponsored by Pablo Escobar and Dom Perignon........
Paul McCartney being absolutely Magnificent as always, Pete Townsend off his famous imposing and attempting to be noticed and Linda McCartney trying to look useful but as usual she looks pathetic pretending to be playing or part of a band, that was Paul’s biggest mistake including Linda in his band, she stands out as a misfit unfortunately every time they showed her.
Is it Andy Fairweather Law there with plenty of hair?
Honeyman Scott the most unique of the whole orchestra there.
