I was thinking...who do you know who is a better songwriter, performer, singer, bass player and all around multi instrumentalist? It would be hard to find someone with just one of these qualities let alone all of them. And he's a nice guy, treats people well, and stays out of trouble. Good on ya Paul!
And producing quality, inventive music over a period of 6 decades.
Geddy Lee.
few month later this show he ended up in jail for possessing few joints. Still he's a very nice guy and a really caring one
He is a natural-born rocker.
By the way, that should be 'whom' do you know...'
Prince and he was basically on steroids musically. So there's a few people I'd say are great musicians on multiple instruments and great music producers.
I will always admire how much Paul loved Linda.
I wasn't expecting "Got To Get You Into My Life" to open with, nice one👍
Memories! My first ever live concert was Paul McCartney and Wings at Wembley Arena, in 1979. All for the princely sum of £5!
That concert triggered off something in me, because 43 years of constant concert going started off with that show!
What a voice!!!!!
That Yamaha gives him such a dreamy, punchy tone!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Paul McCartney's voice, just brilliant.
Reminder of just how great he was at his peak.
Rest in peace, Denny, Sir.
日本公演もこんな感じになるはずだっただろうな〜見れて嬉しいかったありがとうございます。🎉43年前まだ高校生でした。
Paul was in his prime throughout the 70's and it shows!! 💯💯🔥🔥 I Envy those I got to see him during those years lol 😭
Paul at his bester of bestest. Amazing performance, and nice to see how tight him and Denny were on the dawn of 1980.
The Wings lineup with Jimmy McCullough and Joe English really couldn’t be beat!
I prefer Laurence Juber.
@@mylittlebuckaroo But that wasn’t Laurence Juber playing lead on that version of Let It Be.
I think Wings Over America makes a great case for this. It's one of my top five concerts to watch.
Word ! :)
@@lloydmoss217Yes it was on his SG
The last hoorah of the 70s.! Great to hear those rare songs played live !!!
What a great band in this performance. Had to be tough for performers to play with Paul McCartney just because he always knew that Paul was gonna do his thing, I probably would’ve just said yes, just for the experience. So hats off to the musicians on the stage.
Paul MacCartney tan maravilloso y musical como siempre, el mejor del mundo y toda una leyenda. Tu fanática no. 500 desde México
I like Paul's band in this late Wings era. That new drummer and lead guitarist are top notch
The lead guitarist is superb!
I’m a Joe English guy and I wish Paul could have kept him but o agree the drummer was better.
@@davanmani556 I thought this drummer was tighter than Joe English
Lawrence Jueber he does a lot of solo acoustic fingerstyle lately.

That line-up had so much more ahead of it that it's a shame McCartney took his career into the 80's in a totally different direction. Back to the Egg was a great start with an interesting balance. I'm sure that the next Wings album would have been great as well but instead we got the more middle-of-the-road (and slick) 'Tug of War', 'Ebony and Ivory', 'Say, Say, Say' and No More Lonely Nights', for example. Not to sound like I'm ragging on those particular songs, they were disappointing to these ears, that's all. 1979/80 would definitely be the last time McCartney rocked like this on a studio album. But yeah, I know-all things must pass..
It sounds so hard on his voice, but he did it for years!
Already tearing up those prized vocals chords at this young age!
Very Paul, just awesome! such a Legend.
From what I see here, Wings put on a great show in 1979 with a diverse, engaging, and entertaining set list. Maybe we’ll get a live set in a Back to the Egg box set someday?
BttE is one of my fave McCartney albums ever, whether it be solo or with Wings. It's a shame that it is (still!) underrated/overlooked by many (including McCartney himself, based on interviews regarding the album). Would love to see a box-set reissue as well!
Great rendition of Coming Up!
Concert for Kampuchea Christmas of 1979. Many bands played from The Who, Pretenders, Wings, Rockpile, Queen, etc. Pete Townshend refused to wear the gold jackets requested by Paul. Pete had been drinking most of the day. Good ole Pete.
Nice! Wings 1979 tour is so good!
awesome; live “Every Night”!
I think the cover by Phoebe Snow was good as well.
Surely we’ll get the complete concert one day!
Эти песни греют душу, в них красота того времени, они великолепны и не забываемые, эпоха такая вкусная! Любим всё такое! ❤❤❤
What a great concert. Paul in legendary form. The Rockestra-bit was fun too. All in silver suits. Except Townshend (26:35)
Townshend thought Paul was kidding suggesting he wear the outfit
This is Great, never heard any thing form late 70's Wings, Thank you!
Great performance of "Coming Up" here! 12:58
Concert for Kampuchea, Pete Townshend back in his drinking days, a young looking Denny Laine RIP.
Townshend is absolutely demolished here. 20:22 🤣
@@Flerg3 Yea, he was. I think this is pretty near the end of his drinking days.
@@Flerg3 Found this online, "Though he was able to quit drinking for 11 years in 1982, he turned back to the bottle in 1993 before finding sobriety, which he's maintained to this day"
Killer version of; Coming Up!!
It's great to see this show I was lucky to attend.
Paul’s amazing years with the Wings
Me fascina mirarlo cuando tengo oportunidad no me importa el año del cual es, para mi es reciente
Cuánta personalidad y todos sin ego.
Gracias.
❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉OK y 😅😊
Such a great song no doubt bout it!
My 70's 👏🏻👏🏻
That final edition of Wings was nearly as good as the Beatles, for real. On the Back To The Egg album, too. What a pity it wasn't to last. Had it lasted, and had John lived, Paul and him would have been the grandsegnieurs of the 1980s, each in his own right.
Excellent quality
Robert Plant playing Paul's Hofner is my favourite
Let it be ❤!
I had a ticket at Budokan Jan 1980. This live just one month before he arrested in Japan 😢I really wanted his performance at that time.
Great to see on you tube ' got loads of Beatles performances too.
Paul is the most underrated bass player.
No he isn't. He is highly regarded. Did you just copy the 'underrated' remarks of every other YT user? Look it up - it probably doesn't mean what you think.
Paul was in the top 3 on most lists for best bass player in the 60s-70s.
Wonderful🎉
¡Paul es el mejor Beatle, y es uno de los mejores músicos del mundo! ¡ Además de ser un excelente autor y cantante es muy buen ser humano toda su vida! ¡ God bless you, Sir Paul...!!! M.A.R.
great show
Wondering how much it raised.
Lawrence Juber has two great solos. Guitar studs well repped here too... Townsend, James Honeyman-Scott, Billy Bremner, Dave Edmunds, etc tc
My takeaway: Folks, if you play guitar, you know it rips up the tips of your fingers. If you play bass guitar, even more so. Then this guy sits behind a piano and plays it. Piano players might get callouses, but not like guitar players. Paul is a versatile musical athlete. He does this show after show.
that's nonsense - if you stop playing for months yeah it would rip your fingers a bit, but regular players don't deal with pain at all. there's nothing difficult about switching to a piano in the middle of a performance. and piano players wouldn't get callouses at all. the guitar is also much harsher on the fingers than the bass - steel strings on an acoustic being the worst. the callouses prevent further pain once developed, only uncalloused fingers would tear or get raw on strings. even if you tore up your fingers playing the piano would be a huge relief as opposed to carrying on with the string instrument. wrong on every level.
I'd love to see this LP on iTunes...
Sensacional concierto benéfico.
Wings es un gran grupo.
Rockestra fue memorable y único.
My first gig was on this tour in Liverpool, I'd be 15 and my parents drove me there and back home.
❤ I love the intro with the horn section 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Na minha opinião : Época do AUGE DE SUA VOZ !!!!!
Damn that was better then I thought
' Coming up' is this very song that was recorded live and was a hugh hit in summer ' 80
let it be😭
Shame we dont have band on the run. That version with the audience sing along rocks!
In 1979 Paul still looked just like he did when he was the Cute Beatle
Quality music
un vrai chef
The Wings tour music style from the 70s kind of reminds me of that song called Fiatagata Gotcha! by The Moon Roses...haha 🌙🌹😎
Paul and the band do it again! I think he might have had a little cold going into the first song but he heated up spectacularly! I really liked this performance of Let It Be doing the vocals a little more gospel. Love to all
Похоже одно из лучших шоу Wings.. И как положено... кусками ...
The Best
I like Steve's strong drumming on Got to Get You Into My Life
"Welcome to the Midnight Matinée" 🎉😆🤭☺🤣😂😅😛😍😘😗😚😙🥰😍🤗🤭🤭🤭😊☺🎉🥳🎉💓💋💘
At his best😮🎉❤😥🎵💯😍💪🤩🤗👌🥰
This is from the benefit for Kampuchea. The Who were on the bill as well and played a killer set.
❤
24:45: Is that Robert Plant singing along with Linda? 😮
Saw him in the 70s
No cell phones. How quaint.
Such a shame some of the songs are cut short...
Back to the egg reissue should include this. Whenever that is 😊
Was somebody running out of VHS tape? Fans of the final version of Wings would want to hear those cuts from Back To The Egg, but you should cut them out entirely instead of teasing them like that.
denny laine doin fire guitar in this
Stop the Macca III 3 year anniversary nonsense and release London Town box and Back to the Egg box w/this complete show, etc.
It's crazy how Paul also played the drums lol
Apocryphal quote, When John Lennon was asked is Ringo the best drummer in the world, John replied, “He’s not even the best drummer in the band.” George Martin said Paul had the best sense of time of anyone in the band. So, Paul was the click.
@@nicolepaletta3760 That was said by a comedian around 1980-1982. There is audio.
Paul drummed on 5 Beatles songs. Everyone thought it was Ringo. So yes, Paul is an excellent drummer.
バック・トゥ・ジ・エッグの曲をフルで聴きたいです!
Nothing comes close to Macca & Wings in my mind !!!
change your mind,
Why isn't this broadcast every day at 5 o'clock on BBC2? Followed by a Harold Lloyd double bill. Fantastic AB
red rose speedway - класс1
and that’s a classic Beatle guitar
rockgod in action
Originally, this would be a Beatles reunion but Paul said no.
Queen also performed here for the festival and some of it is lost.
Really?
@@Thomasfan244 yea that was the concept but Paul said no and he would just get a bunch of people together without the reunion.
Shame.
Fact's to back this up?
Just a rumour back then.
Good video, but it sadly cuts out the best songs Wings were actually touring for: the Back to the Egg Spin It On, Again and Again and Again and who knows what others
Historical proof that live music played by talented individuals transcends auto-tuned artificial crap anyday!
Great show Paul in his prime wonder what happened to Denny Lane when they broke up
He made his own records and performed live
This from the Rock For Kampuchea concert..
Why is it so hard to get footage of arrow through me live?
Yamaha bass
な、な、なんと、抱いてるベースはヤマハのBB1200。しかもプロトタイプ。
eiichi ohmori akihabara

I sure would like to see an archive release with "Back to the Egg". With a video with a digitally restored concert from the 1979 tour included! Or... a 1977-1979 super box with "London Town" included as well.
Surprised to see him rocking a P bass
According to the Mirror of the day before, it was believed George and Ringo had accepted an invitation to join Paul onstage. Anyone know if they did?
They would have for sure, had it not been for John refusing. It was either all or none of the other three.
Most of the show had been.omited edited out...where's the full show ?
And Dave Edmunds
Any one know who is the Lead Guitarist who played the awesome solo on Let It Be?
Thought it was Denny Laine who died last week?
Lawrence played the solo on his SG.
@@jonathansteadman7935It was Lawrence Juber
ur awesome

Shame that just a couple of weeks after he got busted for smuggling drugs into Japan that was the final nail in the coffin for Wings ' and after they'd enjoyed a successful year with Back to the egg and Wonderful Christmastime ' a real come down for the band.
Oh no what happened to again and again and again?
