Thank you Kathy. The shuttles are called Tatsy shuttles and I got those from Handy hands. Here is the link to that site www.hhtatting.com/. You can use these shuttles with crochet thread up to a size 5 without warping the shuttle. It will still be able to be used on smaller threads as well as long as you stay with the size 5 and size 3 crochet cotton as well as all sizes crochet thread and tatting thread. Hi Becky. A mock ring or also called a self closing mock ring is what needle tatters use when they make a ring. A mock ring is nothing more than a chain that is turned into a ring. The needle tatters tat a chain then they start to pull the thread through and as they begin to close the loop that they have draped off the needle they run the needle thru that and close the chain to form a ring. That is the best explanation of a mock ring for needle tatters. Your doing a mock ring every time you make a ring. I hope that helps. If not let me know. Happy Tatting
