This was very helpful. I'm a needle tatter with basic knowledge of shuttle tatting. You explained this so well that I know I can do it with shuttle now. Thank you so much! Great job.

Been loving your beginners tatting class these past few weeks - have tried a few times to understand tatting from books or other videos - but getting a far better understanding with yours. Don’t have enough shuttles yet - have some on order - so hopefully won’t have to wait too long.

I don’t know how to estimate the amount of thread I need on the two continuous wound shuttles. So when I finish one item I cut the thread on both shuttles and now they aren’t continuous wound. How do I proceed with two ends on two shuttles on a continuous wound project. When I tie a knot to join them the self closing mock ring doesn’t close because of the knot.

So it’s similar to a cluny hold when you set up?

Hi Tamie, thanks for the very clear instruction. Would you please explain to me why would one need to do a SCMR and not a regular ring?

A scmr is used for many things. One being to climb from one round to another just like a split ring would do also it can help with making larger rings more uniform and easier to close. There are a ton of patterns that call for the scmr. Several designers have also written pattern books using only the scmr. A lot of the older patterns use the scmr as well. It is mainly another technique to use when needed. I hope that helps you and Happy Tatting

I did not expect such a prompt reply, thanks so much! That all makes sense and is very helpful. I guess I haven't used many patterns yet, but if I do, I'll know now what it is all about.

Do you have classes on a DVD ?

Not yet Paula. However Georgia does have a DVD out and it is sold thru Interweave and Handy hands Tatting. I personally do not have any DVD's out hopefully someday that will happen but for now I do not want to compete with Georgia Seitz. She is a wonderful teacher and so much knowledge. She is a gem for sure. Happy Tatting

How are you supposed to do this if you design requires 2 different colors? More specifically if you need to make one set of a self-closing mock ring with a thrown ring in one color and then make another one right next to it in another color!

Hi Jennifer. The best way to switch colors is to use the shoe lace trick. It will change the working thread to the other color. Here is the link to that lesson. ua-cam.com/video/VQ2SwaH89Y8/v-deo.html Hope that helps you. Thank you for watching and Happy Tatting

Deidra I have removed you from my other channels because of your constant harrasment over my use of the word ok. There are many other people that have videos out that I find you are rude to as well. If this continues I will be forced to remove you and also report you. Be kind to others is the motto in our tatting group. If you don't like what I have to say turn off the volume but to belittle someone because they don't speak the way you think they should is uncalled for. So please discontinue posting negative remarks about how I speak and enjoy the video as it is and the purpose of it's intent. If you don't want to learn to tat then don't bother watching or listening. I have tried to be patient with you in the past and I have even removed previous post. Some people just aren't happy in their own lives and want to cause problems in others. If you choose to be this type of person please move on as this is a class designed to help people who really want to learn. Thank you.
